Jane Report 23 Jan 2012 14:17

Afternoon everyone
I have only just managed to get on the pooter.I kept getting that coloured whizzing ball thing .

That good news for you Denise re your riding. That must have bucked you up.

Ooh a little puppy !Pat you will be exhausted lol if Mocha is anything like Chester was as a pup.He ran rings round me :-S I was far to soft .He was my first puppy and will be 14 this year. Can't wait to see a pic of him

I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow Fiona and that Kim you get a good night sleep and feel more refreshed tomorrow.

Frank. Is puss not tempted with any food at all now? When you think a few weeks ago he wouldn't have been still here.Do you think it is going to be decision time again?

My poor Sister. She is now having to stay in hospital until at least Thursday
Her leg is still so swollen and painful. She has a cuff filled with iced water permanently on the knee. They have had to change the way the physio is done.It is now going to be more frequent and a bit less strenuous .She is still having oral Morphine and they don't really want her go home while she is still having to be on that. Her OH is going to go in to help her in the shower each morning now that he is not working.

The sun is shining brightly here now after a cloudy morning.Tomorrow looks cold in this neck of the woods with the possibility of sleet :-S :-S

I need to pop out now .BBL

Watched Birdsong and Call the Midwife both were brilliant so had to record the last bit of D on Ice and the result so don't know whose gone yet. I don't like that american guy much either, I remember him from the film The Goonies years ago, what's that stupid bit of hair all about. Miranda Hart in Call the Midwife was really good.

Love to see some photos of new puppy Pat, lots of walks then. My parents had a golden labrador years ago and we could never train him not to pull on his lead when going out, my brother was the only one to tire him, I can still picture them coming up the road, my brother still running and poor old Daniel (the dog) plodding way behind him. As a puppy he chewed everything in sight but never anything belonging to my dad, once he chewed my mum's glasses and when he walked into the living room dad said ...... what have you done with mums glasses ...... and he literally backed out of the room with his head hung down. He still kept chewing though.

Think I'll stick to cats, they are less work but not as rewarding.

Sorry to hear you're not that good today Kim, let's hope tomorrow is a better day.
Rest up that back Mandy, it's so easy to put your back out and takes ages to get right again. Hope you are feeling better Fiona, don't go painting if you're not feeling too good. Good luck with the dentist Pat, I've just been, don't mind the dentist it's the Hygenist I'm dreading in a couple of weeks.

William Report 23 Jan 2012 15:37

Before I type anymore, please don't let anyone say the results of Dancing on Ice'. We've got it recorded for later!

David, I know that 'Round Tuit' thingy well. Have seen it in lots of variations but the first time I saw it was years ago when one of the guys at work had it on his round tea coaster. I guess many of us procrastinate anyway, so it's good to have it in writing.

Frank, well done with the latest emails, always cheer me up. The minute I switched on the BRILLIANT one, I thought it was Eric Idle. But in the end - how very very true!

Millie, I still love the Readers Digest (especially free ones) and I love to do the 'It Pays to increase your word power' at the front, good for the brain matter. But as you say, they also do publish some excellent books.

Jane, my wife has to have those 'caudal epidural injections, in her spine about every six months. They do give her a lot of relief. She is resting up for the rest of the day now, bought her home abou 1pm. She has two dics pushing into the nerves in her spine and they can't operate as it's too dangerous.

Sunday night viewing is great on the Beeb now, really enjoy Fetch The Midwife'. When my Aunt Rose & family came back to Plaistow after they were evacuated they lived with her mother which was a bit overcrowed to say the least. Except when we had a good old knees up and a sing-song that went on for hours, it didn't seem so bad then. From there the council gave them accomadation in an awful tenement building in East Ham, I hated visiting there, it was like a Charles Dicken's left-over. Anyway, they moved her to a 'new build' council house down in Custom House right by the docks. To visit, we had to get the 86 or 86A bus from Chadwell Heath to Stratford Broadway. Then we had to get a trolley bus which took us down to Custom House. I remember there was this great big building across from where we got off with the sign 'The Flying Angel - Mission to Seaman'. Also, just like you see on TV, you could see the funnels of the ships that were in the docks. Frank might know some of this too.

Did anyone see the TV play (think it was ITV) called Just Henry? That was set in the late 40's and they had the whole era off pat, it was like being in a time warp. It was set in Yorkshire but it could have been any town around that time, following the war. I'd love to know where they get half of the stuff from!

OK, gotta go get the washing in in case in rains! BBL....

Is it me or has it turned really cold. Had the heating on for the past 4 hours and two woolies on and just can't seem to get warm.

Not heard the 'round tuit' before David, that's a good one. Didn't guess what it meant until the end.

I haven't seen the results of Dancing on Ice either William, have got it recorded, may take me a few days to get around to it.

Was Sheila going away, we haven't heard from her in ages?

Annx Report 23 Jan 2012 17:06

Afternoon All,

Hope Kim is getting a good rest now and that you have started to feel a bit better Fiona.

Those injections your OH has don't sound very nice William but are worth having if they give some relief.

David I had never heard of the TUIT plate before......made me smile.

Denise, I bet you are looking forward to being back in the saddle again....short stints at first though like you say.

Pat, a puppy, how lovely and my favourite colour black and tan! I said you'd soon find something to get you out of the house when you finished work!! lol
:-D :-D Was the puppy ok the first night or was there a bit of howling? Will you be watching the Dog Whisperer now.....I love Cesar Milan.

Jane, that accident with the horse must have been awful. It is lucky neither Fitz's son nor the horse were hurt. Wasn't there a mare and foal killed on the road your way a year or two ago.....Great Oxendon seems to ring a bell? I don't think people maintain fences properly sometimes. Mind you, my small first foal could clear a five barred gate with ease!!!

Poor Janice must be fed up, especially being in hospital till at least Thursday. I do hope the swelling starts to go down soon so it is hopefully less painful then.

FIL has to have a tumour removed from his nose in a few weeks. It isn't anything nasty, but it is too big for them to stitch so they will have to graft a bit of skin on from behind his ear. I said to OH that he will look like he has been scrapping and come off worst!! lol He is still fit as a flea and saw a new doctor last time and when he trotted into the surgery he said the doctor looked up and said he was expecting an 'old' man. We are taking him out for a meal for his 91st in a fortnight.

OH has been to have xrays of his back and neck this morning. For a month or two now he has had aching and some numbness in his thighs and arms and shoulders. He's had blood tests which were clear. His mum has suffered from Polymyalgia for years now, so I have told him to mention that to his doc next time he goes as I think it can run in families.

I used the new step raiser on the wii board a couple of days ago and was pleased my knees coped with it with only a little protest. (only about 4 inches high) but OMG today my calves feel like someone is kicking them in the back at every step!!!! They obviously need to do more of it to strengthen them......but definitely not today!! lol

I really enjoyed Call the Midwife too......hadn't realised Miranda Hart was in it and it was strange but good seeing her play that part after only seeing her as a stand up comedienne before. Have recorded Birdsong. I like Jorgie, the Emmerdale chap and the free runner Sebastian in DOI. You can tell how strong and fit the free running has made him!

OH is on his way to Luton with mates for tonight's match and is doing the match report for Radio Leicester. That means he gets in free!! :-D :-D

Jane

Jane Report 23 Jan 2012 17:56

I bet Mocha smells lovely.I remember sniffing Chester .It's that puppy smell lol

Ann I think Janice is resigned to staying in longer. She said there is no way she could cope at home yet.I do feel so sorry for her.She still isn't eating either, not because she is sick ,but just has no appetite .

Is the tumour your FIL has one of those Basal Cell ones?Usually they are on the side of the nose.He sounds such a feisty 'young' man .I hope your OH gets and answer to his aches and numbness.I suppose one good thing is that his bloods were clear.
I don't recall hearing of a Mare and Foal being killed. But if it was Gt Oxendon then we wouldn't probably hear of it here. The more I think of Tom hitting the horse on Saturday makes me realise how lucky they were. The horse must have bounced back off the windscreen back onto it's feet.I'm sure it will be pretty bruised though from the impact.I know Tom and his girlfriend hadn't realised it was a horse they hit as Tom was dazzled by someones full beam and then after the bump they just heard a woman screaming. They thought they had hit a person. :-S :-S

Mel I had trouble getting on here too earlier :-S

Maureen they say it is going to be below 0 deg tonight and looks like a pretty miserable day tomorrow.I think Mel will be the warmest tomorrow in double figures.

It is 12 years today my best friend died (Rachel in Dubai's Mum)I really don't know where that time has gone.Rachel will be finding it hard today knowing her Mum will never know Ethan :-(
I was with Diane at the hospital and both her children were called in as were Diane's sister and Brothers.Sadly they were too late and I will never forget waiting in the hospital foyer for them to arrive and me having to tell them the awful news.I think that was the worst and loneliest day of my life.
Anyway I mustn't dwell on that .I don't want to get Maudlin.

My Son has been for an interview!!!!!!!.Hooray. :-D.Not the kind of job he really wants ...but hey it is an interview.Anything would be good right now.
Fingers crossed .He just needs to get on the ladder to somewhere.

Must go and peel some potatoes now .BBL

Oh you carn't beat the smell of a new puppy and the little teeth like needles LOL
I can remember trying to get Bonnie out side before she did a wee ,and quick quick !! popping a piece of newspaper under her as she did wee !!

Does seem really cold out there now , frost tonight i expect .

That's the best ones to read William the free ones LOL another little book dad used to have was Old Moores Almanac , can you still get them ? didn't they have a weather forecast in them for the year ahead, i wonder if they ever got it right !!

Your sister's in the best place really Jane , no good coming out to early then having to go back in , BIL's knee was very swollen and hot when he first had it done , he use to put a bag of frozen peas in a cloth on the knee to help cool it and to take the swelling down.
Fingers crossed that James hears good news with the job interview .

Frank, I'm sure you must be some kind of gastronmic expert or cordon blue chef. Your descriptions of your meals fair make my mouth water. How come you haven't got one of those TV cook shows - you sound better than a lot of them, at least we know what you're talking about!

Mel, have you got a wireless mouse or keyboard? Sometimes if the batteries are going it can slow things down or stop keystrokes appearing. I know, I've been that person! Hope you get it sorted.

Seems to have calmed down now.

I brought a cooked chicken in with me from shopping and we had it with salad in pitta bread with chilli sauce. Scummy. I have a nice bowl of grapes and lyches to keep me quiet tonight for a nibble.

Morning all.

Annx - Yes i am looking forward to riding again but a litle bit apprehensive as well last time I fell off a horse was in the 80's now I am that much older it has shaken my confience a bit but will take it slowly at first.

Yes Frank I went on the web site very interesting I also looked up where I used to live that was quite good too I lived in the same house for 47 years - memories.

I dont know if any of you know something called East of London Family History Society. I am a member of that and I find it very intertesting. I get a booklet 3 times a year subscription £12.00 for the year and you just say what areas and names you are interested in and it opens up a whole new area of exploration.

Jane hope your sister gets better soon.

I also find it difficult to get on here at times I put my passwod in very carefully and I often get error come up and I know I have done it carefully.

Morning everyone,

Has been pouring here and expected to rain until Sunday. Going to spoil a lot of peoples' plans for Australia Day!!

Denise I get the error message at least 5 times before I manage to get onto the site. Haven't checked by tree in days, not game to look. Good the physio is helping you to get back in the saddle, you must miss it.

Mandy sorry to hear that your back is still giving you trouble. It's a day to day thing, I get swelling at the base of my spine and other days it is fine.

Frank have you given puss any treatments lately. My two definitely go off food after flea or worm tablets. Don't take him to the vet yet, he still seems to be enjoying the creature comforts and being around you.

I am watching the Australian Open at the moment. Nadal has found some fire - I'm hoping he'll win. Very long match and only third set.

Pat little Mocha will bring you lots of joy. I've always had pets, can't remember a time without one.

Have a good day everyone. 10.52 pm DST

Afternoon All
I gave up trying to get on here this morning and just turned the computer off.Touch wood there are no more problems.

It is a miserable drizzly cold day.Fire lit again
:-DI have just brought a load of logs in .Hopefully enough to see us through until tonight.

I'm glad little Mocha is doing well.He will soon get to know where he has to wee.I think I only had a few mishaps with Chester.Once I bought the wrong food .It should have been puppy and I got Junior strength instead.I can't begin to describe the effect it had on his tummy :-S :-S :-S.My poor carpet was never the same again.

I really need to clean the shower doors.I have been putting it off for far too long.It is the strong smell of Viaka* that nearly chokes me as I have to shut myself in the shower.I think I might actually wrap something around my nose and mouth today

Spoke to Fitz earlier and he is not really sure what happened to that horse.
He thinks it actually may have been hurt.He said it was sedated and taken somewhere. So I'm not sure.It all seems to be very confusing. No doubt they will find out.

Right ........Shower he I come :-D :-D :-S :-S :-P :-P
