Frank Report 2 Mar 2013 20:12

I'm back,

We have eaten, my F & C with no batter and Ros's Chinese. Into my shorts now.

Ant and Dec on now, I can't stand all the noise, so have come out of the way.

The sun was very warm this afternoon walking back from the pub. By the time I had lunch and a doze, it was to late to think about my lawns, so will have a looksee in the morning. Hope we don't get any rain tonight.

Nothing on Tele to interest me tonight, so will play games on the computer and look around Ebay.

Have a good evening all.

Evening All,

Quite a nice sunny day here, so I ventured up the garden and put a new washing line on the rotary. I'd forgotten what a right game it is to do!!! Alright to start with, unwinding it and attatching to the arms......then the ball I was unwinding the new stuff from got ravelled up so I had to unwind the other end to help sort it out. OH appeared then and started asking silly questions like 'why did you unwind it like that?' I DIDN'T!! Anyway he helped and we finally got it tightened up and fixed just as my arms felt like they would drop off. He went and weeded the gravel on the front then.

I think your daughter will see more of the dog's character and nature after a couple of days settling in Fiona. and whether she is possessive with toys or her food etc. Staffies have sweet natures but it's best to be cautious.

I've been loving the emails Frank, some really good ones of wildlife and the carvings. The carvings one didn't come through until about an hour ago, so maybe some just took a while. I pass them on too and OH always has a look and a chuckle!! :-)

Just finished one of those delish juicy oranges Mandy was talking about.......good job you can't hear the slurps. lol.

Shirl, I'm all behind with my jewellery at the moment!! Three unfinished things, a necklace, bracelet and earrings/rings!! I hope we don't get any more of the white stuff here, think I'm ready for spring now!!

We watched Wild Arabia too and found it brilliant and fascinating. Thanks for putting us wise to it Mel.

Jane, that was poor that the garage didn't do the MOT first like Mandy said. I had to have 2 tyres replaced at around 20,000 miles because of speed hump damage from those humps with the bevelled sides.......theyd scuffed all the insides of the tyres. Now I won't try and straddle them any more, but with my car I nearly have to stop to go over the top of them. I've even been hooted for going slow over them!! I sometimes wonder how they help, after all, all the bigger vehicles, lorries, 4x4s and big people carriers with big wheels don't even need to slow down over them and they are the vehicles that would hurt someone most if they ran into a pedestrian. :-S

We managed a walk up to the village and back after OH came back from footie. There was a notice on one of the street lights to say it was only switched on part time. Lots of the road lights around here aren't on at night now to save costs so I think the notice might be there to stop people reporting the light not working! I think it's a good idea to switch some of them off as it was so bright at night with a huge glow over the city.

Well, an early night for me, OH went about half an hour ago. I hope Kim managed to get some sleep with all the paraphernalia she would have on at the sleep clinic.

Just a thought but if the wiring was'nt working they could'nt have done the MOT anyway.

Afternoon Everyone & Evening Kim
Dull, chilly day here,OH busy in the garden, trying to get the path finished as he is away tomorrow off to Munich and won't be back till Thursday.

Chicken in oven & I have made a strawberry & peach flan for desert only 5 of us for dinner as daughter no 2 & boyfriend still doggy sitting, they were out for a walk this morning and on the way back stopped off for a couple of toilet rolls, daughter ran out of tissues, stuffy nose so used up all the toilet roll instead,
They came round the back to see how dad was getting on with the path, and when I opened the door, Kiah was sitting on the step and would not move until I gave her a pat then she was happy to go,

She is a bit of a moody dog when it comes to eating, not fussed about treats , turned her nose up at the little chicken ones I bought her from the shop and daughter said she didn't want to eat this morning, I said she must not be hungry and will eat when she wants,
But one good thing she gets them both up at 7 in the morning and out for a walk, I think the 2 of them would lie in bed till goodness know when, :-P

Duck for lunch today, yum, the smell is wonderful! Millie has had some giblets for her lunch and is licking a hole throught the bottom of her bowl!!! Should be ready about 2, then that's the food done, except for a snack later.
We had a rescue dog years ago, and she took quite a few weeks to settle in properly to OUR ways, it was just a question of patience and allowing her to adjust to what must have been for her quite a scary time. Also she was very quiet and good for ages, which at the time did quite worry us, she was okish, but not completely 'ours' - we never did know where she came from or what her history was and for a long time, we felt that she was waiting for her original family to come for her - UNTIL - we eventually had a lively (!!!) mischievous, lovely, lovely dog whom we all adored. It was a bit of a journey, but well worth it in the end.

Grey day here after a very hard frost last night.

Did,nt feel too good when I woke up this morning. Have just had breakfast and I only had a little. Did the usual for oh.

Lost one of my old girls yesterday. She was curled into the corner of the chicken house with her eyes closed and I thought she was asleep. I spoke to her and touched her but she was stiff as a board and must have gone peacfully in her sleep.

Afternoon everyone,

Well its been bright today a little sun at times we went sons for coffee then on to Norwich to B&* to pick up some emulsion for son ,we had a look at the Kitchen sinks ,Taps and another look at wall tiles but we didn't see any thing we liked the tiles look awful ,plenty if you want white, black, grey or beige !!and plenty of the bright colours too !!
We then decided to take our selves off to the coast for a fish dinner , car park was packed so we went along the coast road to sit in the car and eat them ....the fish was terrible all the batter was raw inside !! all floury and the chips were all fatty !!
I ate one chip and left the rest ,hubby had a few chips and a little fish we, brought them home and they are now in the bin.
I sound a right old moaning minnie today LOL

Fiona ,Kiah looks a lovely dog ,i thought she looks like Chester too :-)must be very strange for her moving from one place to another, i wonder why she was in the rescue place, they must tell you some of her history .

Oh Mel sorry you've lost one of your girls .

Got to find some thing to eat now for later , just a bit of salad i think .

Jane Report 3 Mar 2013 16:37

Sorry about your poor old girl Mel :-(.It sounded like it was peaceful for her.How long do they normally live?

Mandy I would be moaning too if I had had been dished up F&Cs like that. How disappointing.Moan away girl :-D

Fiona I bet Kiah will start to eat once she feels settled and happy.Chester never eats for a day or so when I go away or he goes off for his 'hols'.She may have been moved around a bit and is expecting not to be staying .Poor doggie.

I have the Pork Joint in cooking and one drooling dog sat in front of the oven lol making the most ridiculous noises. All my Ironing is done :-D,except for James's.I refuse to do that.Chris is stinking like an old Kipper again after another big bonfire :-S It seems to go right through the house.

Hannah a great night last night at the O2 arena for the Girls Aloud Concert. She said they were brilliant. She said the audience were all women and Gay Men lolol

Are you feeling any better Mel? Hope you haven't got a bug.

We seem to be having little blips with the electric power. It seems to go off just for a second every now and then.As long as I can get the Pork finished I won't worry too much.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Mar 2013 17:59

Fank sent me emails this morning. Are you ok Frank.

I feel a bit better now. I had my bacon egg and beans at lunchtime and that seemed to settle my tummy beleive it or not.

Mandy I would have taken the fish and chips back to the shop and asked them to either recook it or replace it. after all it is not a cheap dinner now really.

Poor Chester singing for his supper at the oven door. <3 <3

Glad I am not the only one who thinks Kiah is like our Chester Mandy.

I hav'nt done Hogwart yet so may go and do him before it gets dark.

Arn't the nights drawing out now? It will be nice to have longer lighter evenings.

Forgot to say a new drama tonight at 9pm after the midwives called Mayday. It's a five parter.

LilyL

LilyL Report 3 Mar 2013 18:28

Well, that duck was absolutely scrummy, enough for cold tomorrow and then the rest into the crock pot for stock. Friends to lunch on Tuesday, shall give them chicken - safe!!
Sorry about your chicky-B Mel (Our son called them this when he was a little boy!) How old was she? 8-10 years I think is a good age for a hen.
Nasty cold day here, so Merlin came in early, Farrier next week as his feet are beginning to overgrow, hopefully it can be a re-fit!
Not sure about the new drama?!! green man and all that so could be sinister - have to see!

Have just got back, been round to my friends to take her pressie. Her birthday is Tuesday, so I knew she wouln't open it today which I'm glad about.

I'm not familiar with dog behaviour but it sounds like they are doing all the right things Fiona with Kiah the rewards/companionship you have with dogs is beyond compare, but I am happy with my cats, I don't expect anything from them, and they don't want anything from me apart from feeding and the occasional stroke.

Went to see the venue for son's wedding last week, it is really nice, I don't think I would bother with a church wedding myself given the choice, only a couple of months to go. D-i-l is having a hen do which I am invited to but it coincides with my other daughters m-i-l's 70th birthday do, think that one is more my era :-0

I have decided to book a few days away for my Sister and Me.I think she is exhausted and a bit low .All to do with looking after William ,working, and having that dreadful last year with her knee op.She hasn't had chance to catch her breath.Thinking of May and going on Eurostar to possibly Brussels .I told her to make sure her passport is in date. She said she doesn't want charity.......I told her not to be a silly old B***** and that she is my little sister and if I want to give her a little treat ..so be it :-D :-D...end of....big Sis has spoken lolol

Liz i have a Duck in the freezer .It;s been there for 12 months or so now.I just don't fancy Duck .I don't mind shredded duck in a pancake, but have never had Duck as a dish at home.It may stay in the freezer forever :-S :-S
When I was down at Fitz's the other day I had some Smoked Duck.It was nice but it could have been any smoked meat. But very tasty :-D

LilyL

LilyL Report 3 Mar 2013 20:05

Jane, I don't think your duck would be very nice now as the meat would have deteriorated after 12 months in the freezer!!! Can't understand why you don't fancy duck - it's quite delicious - but not after all that time frozen!!!!
Lovely to go to Brussels! and on the Eurostar! We went to France on the train right down to Limoge some!! years ago to stay with my SIL and it was brilliant! Next time we flew which I didn't enjoy half as much. SIL wants us to go and stay again this summer, so are checking our passports!
Time for the Ask the Midwife!
