Morning All , Evening Kim Cold wet and Miserable, Brrr :-| Done the shopping this morning early, and took a pair of trousers back to NE*T as they were too big, when I bought them I thought OH could take them in for me , they weren't huge but a tuck here and there would be good, and they didn't have a smaller size on the rail ,and I really like them. any way OH said lets try a different branch and we did and I was able to exchange them for a smaller size :-D :-D, now OH only has to take up the legs a little, :-D

Afternoon All,
Dull and misty here, but at least the fog has gone. Fiona, your hubby has many talents hasn't he. I'm beginning to think I was short changed with mine!! :-S
He's off at footie today so I am wrapping a few little 'extras' for him tomorrow. He had his laptop for xmas and birthday and I'm taking him out for lunch on Monday. There's a bottle of 'Old Tom', two bars of marzipan chocolate, a smarties little gift cake, (we don't buy or eat cake normally so a little one will be just right) and some La Nuit De L'Homme which we both like, but yikes, it is quite expensive now!! (I must remind him to 'dab' not 'splash it all over'. :-)
Oh dear Jane, Chris is getting his bowel kit early on isn't he!! lol. Next it will be will writing and funeral plans dropping on the doormat!! :-0
Pat that's a nuisance pulling ligaments in your foot, I bet it has slowed you down too. I don't know what I've done to my heel, just feels bruised when I walk on it. The gel heel inserts have helped a lot though. I'm going with a friend to the NEC later this month so I want it better for then.
Frank, lets hope the physio works on your knee. You will want to be out doing and enjoying your garden soon. Nice to see you posting again.
We seem to have a new cat on the block, a big black one I haven't seen before and in the back garden. I don't mind as long as long as they don't start messing there. I wonder if William still gets that one he mentioned before. I think he must have been on 'plan D' for getting rid of it.
Mel, it's a nuisance when you get an egg eater, once they start I don't think they stop. Could you seperate the one you think it is for a few nights and see whether any more eggs get eaten. You don't want any of the others copying her.

Fiona I wish I bought things and then found out they were too big....it's the opposite way around for me :-S :-S
Mel no cake for the birds then. The cake sounds scrummy (except I'm not keen on Ginger).
I had a lovely silver bucket /pot with moss and Daffs(in bud) this morning for Mothers Day :-D.
Dermot, you mentioned when you were at school in Ireland that you had milk from your own cows. Were you talking of your own family cows ,or just in General? There was nothing worse than those 3rd of a pint bottles of milk that always seemed warm and drinking it through those waxy straws that went all soggy on the top :-S :-S..It always seemed to have a sicky smell. That school mop and bucket smelled like that too .
:-| :-|
No Mandy so far today.Mandy I hope you are ok <3
I have lit the fire now and put a lamp on as it is a bit on the dull side..No snow yet.
Tes** was mad!!!!! Lots of Dads and young Children ,and hundreds of others buying flowers and cards.I always feel a bit sad not being able to buy a card for Mum now and sending flowers.Hannah said she give me a call tomorrow.I was trying to think earlier and I am pretty sure this will be the first time in 30 years she hasn't been here for Mothers day.
Afternoon Frank :-D :-D

Well I still feel well and truly stuffed, so much for all my good intentions not to over eat, had a really good night and very nice food, Breaded mushrooms with a garlic sauce for starter, risotto with salmon for main and profiteroles with cream all washed down with a couple of bottles of Pinot Grigio, I didn't drink two bottles, that was between us. Not going to bother with lunch today will wait and have dinner a bit earlier.
That was quite a small school Dermot, I have an old photo from junior school and counted about 30 some pupils were away that day and that was just our class. It was an old Victorian building, it's still functioning as a school, went back there a few years ago to a fete and it has hardly changed.
No Mandy today, hope she isn't feeling too poorly.
Thanks for the photo Fiona, Ann's right she looks like she'd be on your lap given half the chance.
Not sure if any of mine have anything planned for tomorrow for me, I expect son will be round, think I could manage another trip out to a restaurant ;-)
Ann I would love to see a photo of something if/when you use your bead loom.

Ann glad you got the photo. and Maureen, hope Jane does this time
Ann Now I'm sure you would not swap your hubby for another one , Would you ? mine is a real good DIY man,(mainly cos he won't pay anyone else to do the job , also it won't be done the same way as he would have done it), unless of course it something like to do with Gas then you need a qualified person, and large building jobs, he cooks most of the time I don't like cooking very much, better on the sewing machine than me, I need to say he has always been there for me during hard times with my dad and has been a great support since I have been ill over the last couple of years. <3 <3

Well Frank ,now you have opened your heart to us all ,you know you have all the support you need if and when you are feeling in that low place. Ros is BOSS now with your tablets :-D.Lets just say you had a little blip .The main thing is you are back on board. It wouldn't be the same without you <3.I think that is a very brave thing to tell us what you did.Well done :-D :-D I'd like to say Hi to Ros too .That must have been scary for her. :-( Just take things easy ,slowly and day by day, until you are on tip top form :-D
Fiona ,no pic of Kiah :-|.Can someone forward to me please.I also need your OH to come and take some trousers up for me :-D :-D.Wow you have a very useful OH .
Good evening then last night Maureen :-D.I love Risotto (but not with Salmon).Mushrooms and Profiteroles just up my street :-D
Need to check the fire out.I think i might have killed it with a big log.Must go and give it a go with the poker :-D

Oh Frank, what a shame you felt like that when you keep us all smiling with your posts and emails. I bet Ros was worried to death about you, but I can understand, as nothing matters if you feel as low as you must have. Thank you for letting us know, it can't have been easy, but you're stuck with us, warts and all and we are always here to listen as Jane says. :-)
Fiona, no you're right I wouldn't swap him. Same as you, mine is very supportive and kind especially if you are not well and he makes me laugh a lot and is never ever sulky or moody. He does fetch the washing in and do all the ironing and is very tidy. Sometimes I wish he could cook, but at least he never assumes I will either so I can't grumble. He's not into DIY like my first OH was but he was never allowed to do anything when he was younger, not even make himself a cup of tea!!
Yes I hope Mandy is ok and just resting while she gets over it.
Maureen, your meal ticks all the boxes for me too. :-D Maybe eating out again tomorrow too.........then is back to salads? Yes, if/when I do make something I will send a pic. :-)

I might have held on to my ex if he had been a bit more useful, couldn't fault his cooking though but he did that for a living anyway, so was never around for meal times at home.
Tummy's starting to rumble now so I think I'll go and sort out my dinner.
Frank have sent you an e.mail.

LOL Frank...Helen seems a very long time ago.I still find it strange to know that was my birth name. It's great that you feel able to open up now and that's a flipping brave thing to do.You know that you have a good bunch of friends here and I'm sure that is a great help to you.Don't be a stubborn old bugge* .If you can't do all the work in the garden ,then get a bit of help in.You can still be in control.Maybe not physically but can 'delegate'.Know your limitations !!!! ...there ,that is me with my bossy head on...Just call me Bossy Boots :-D ;-) I'm sure no-one had told Lewis.Have a lovey time tomorrow <3

You’d have thought there might have been three certainties in Irish life – death, taxes and the cup of tea – but it now seems that the Irish post-tiger sophistication is endangering the consumption of the nation’s second favourite beverage. And I daren’t mention the name of the first favourite Irish drink - just in case any stranger reads this bit of gibberish.
With all of the new-fangled coffee machines, percolators, cappuccino and expresso makers, sales of the humble kettle are falling faster than the hopes of a write-off on the promissory note or the Irish national debt - whichever comes first.
And even when they do make tea, they don’t need a tea pot any more – it’s all tea bags these days because nobody wants a mouthful of tea leaves, unless they’re planning to have their fortune told by Hilda Ogden.
Sales of kettles are in decline as consumers opt for fancy coffee makers, hot water dispensers and other methods to make their beverages – at least that’s the case in the UK and there’s no reason to think it’s any different over in the old country. And it’s only seems like yesterday when, if the hearth was the heart of every home, the kettle that hung over the inglenook fireplace or whistled gently on the range, was the soul.
You’d see groups gathered in bogs, footing turf for winter fuel and then breaking off to boil the battered old kettle for a well-earned break. The first thing that happened when you dropped into someone’s home was the host saying: “Hold on until I stick on the kettle.”
When the prodigal son or daughter returned home to Ireland for the Christmas, first item on the agenda was a cup of tea; when bad news was delivered by telegram, the pain was eased with a cuppa; last thing at night was tea with a biscuit.
The arrival of electric kettles meant there was no longer an eternal search for matches to light the gas; they even had little electric coils that would boil water into tea in the mug if you were mean enough or unlucky enough to be making tea for one.
Those who could afford it went abroad seeking sun holidays, armed with an ocean of lotion and a suitcase full of Denny’s sausages and Barry’s Tea. Spanish tea just wasn’t the same and there was nothing like a nice brew to lift the sagging spirits.
The Irish even coped with the arrival of coffee because for a long time it was just Maxwell House or Nescafe granules which might have seemed like the height of sophistication – but they still required a kettle.
And finally, just to satisfy Jane’s curiosity, yes we used milk from our very own cows that were lovingly reared on our small farm of about 30 acres. Milking by hand was the thing mainly undertaken by my mum. Now, that’s what I’d call fresh milk which did not need a ‘sell-by-date’.
Moo!

Love to you too Frank. <3 I don't think anyone would upset Lewis by telling him either. Jane speaks wise words and lots of people have a bit of help in the garden........they do down this close. They do about 3 bungalows, trim, mow and hoe and in half an hour each they are all spick and span for another 6 weeks. :-)
OH said that he'd heard it was snowing at the football match in Norwich. I thought we'd seen the last of it too! When he got home today he said it was now definite that his team will be relegated. Not too unhappy though as it means getting to see new grounds next season and places I would like to go to with him. :-D
Dermot, I would have loved your life on the farm. Mum used to fetch cow's milk in a jug from the farm over the road when I was little. I remember her making delicious egg custard with the rich first milking after a calf was born. I'm sure she called it something like beaslings? I can remember helping set up the stooks of corn after the binder had cut and tied it in bundles.....no balers then.
