That's it, put my paint brushes down and stop fiddling, it's done. My friend has dropped very heavy hints about liking Mediterranean street scenes, so that's what I've done Ann, will send you a photo of it and anyone else if they would like to see it. It was quite a challenge after doing so many Christmas/birthday cards to go to a big canvas, I hope she likes it.

That sounds a bit drastic, dropping poisoned mice, I suppose the mice are already dead so no danger of them running off and killing other wildlife.

I'm off now to get my dinner ready for when I get back from collecting ironing, hate going out when it's so cold but at least it's staying lighter. Spring is on the way, although it doesn't feel like it at the moment, the heating's been on all day.

Jane

Jane Report 25 Feb 2013 17:45

It's so cold.I don't seem to be able to get warm even with the heating and fire.Maybe it 's because I'm tired after waking at that ridiculous hour of the morning :-S :-S

Maureen I have booked a holiday in Venice in September :-D :-D.Fitz has lent me a book on Restaurants and Bars there. So I will be trawling through that .

Fiona I do hope that your Daughter and her Boyfriend have really thought it through (about having the dog).It is lovely to have one ,but they are a huge commitment and the price of kennels is not cheap if they want to go on holiday, plus at 8years old it may start to develop health problems and we all know what Vet Fees are like :-S :-S
I don't mean to put a dampener on it but sometimes the excitement of having a pet like that sometimes means that reality goes out the window lol.Saying that I'm sure that he would have a wonderful home.

It sounds like Maureen is well on the mend, and Frank and Ros have some way to go.How is William?

Mel I see you have had the Opticians today.I have mine tomorrow.I am trying Spe* Sav** this time.I really really need to have my eyes tested. It is 2 years since the last one and I'm sure they are worse :-S

I see Ike* have withdrwan their Meatballs because Horsemeat has been found.
I have just put the bag and a half of mine in the bin !!!!!!! WE had them last week :-0
They were delicious :-D.But now I know what could be in them I just don't fancy them.

Ann I asked Fitz if he had any knowledge of Anglesey and he said Sorry ,but he doesn't.He did say he stayed there once many years ago and it rained all the time .

It is Beef Curry for us tonight.I have cut up most of what was left from the joint last night(still have a little left).I have been a big cheat and bought a jar of sauce, onion Bajhis ,Pilau Rice and Naan.Oh and some sloppy looking veg dish(can't remember the name)

I rang the garage this morning. They said the 'Loom'(the part ) will arrive from France tomorrow. They then have to make sure all the wires and connections fit together before fitting it.(Iwill not be a happy bunny if it doesn't fit) .I might get my car back on Thursday. If that is so it will then be 4 weeks !
I did remind them about my service and MOT.I wonder if `i can wangle a bit of discount after all this palaver .I doubt it ,but can only try :-D

Frank I thought the email this morning about the escapee from a S.A jail was brilliant :-D :-D

Maureen

Maureen Report 25 Feb 2013 18:02

Frank's e.mail, yes I did too Jane.

I don't buy any of those ready meals so don't have to worry about horse meat, I don't really eat much meat at all, chicken sometimes and lamb at Easter, will probably do another family dinner this year again ....... watch out lambs ......

My old dad used to say ...... if you don't ask, you don't get ...........so certainly worth a try Jane, 4 weeks is a heck of a long time for the garage to have your car.

Jane

Jane Report 25 Feb 2013 18:19

Maureen I would love to see your latest painting please :-D
Fiona I remember seeing a photo of you and your lovely dog Ginny.I think you were both sitting on the floor together.

Hannah's John has been to the hospital today for a check up and hopefully to be signed off as all better.I haven't heard anything .He explained to me that the problem he had was a deep seated abscess in the throat which became ulcerated and it exposed a nerve (going to the ear) which was what was causing all the pain :-S :-S

Just seeing the news now ...stock cubes are being mentioned as well as the Ike* meatballs !!!!.For goodness sake I'm beginning to wonder what on earth is in my freezer and cupboards.I'm guessing not what I imagine.
:-S.You just don't know at the moment.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Feb 2013 18:41

I have been out for a long time. I went much too early and was there and parked for an hour at half past one. Appointment was for 2.10pm so off I went up the high st. to see if there was anything I fancied in the shops. Nothing.................... went back to the eye shop and they gave me change to feed the meter!! Oh told me off when I told him. Anyway I have a small bleed on the optic nerve just a little on the side. So now I am £377 lighter and have to make an appoiontment with the eye clinic at Barnstaple hosp. on Wednesday.

Gradualy falling apart I think.

Jane

Jane Report 25 Feb 2013 19:04

Mel ,they might just be able to cauterize that little bleed or laser it.
Chris has just come in and he says to have a little bleed there is better than any other part of the eye.So don't worry too much :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Feb 2013 19:15

Thats what the optician said Jane he also said by the time I get my apponitment at the hosp it may have gone anyway!!!! Might just be a little blood vestle leaked or a small vein. It was only just over the round bit on the optic nerve. I went to Spe*savers.

Maureen I would like to see your painting too please. I love my rose birthday card.

Frank I think I once went to the Hawkey Hall and saw a film there with a boyfriend. He was very friendly with a local vicar who we used to go to tea with sometimes in the vicarage. The film was The Inn of the Sixth Happiness which was on the telly a couple of weeks ago. I watched a bit of it went shopping came home and watched the end!!!

Frank Report 25 Feb 2013 19:40

Well you are a little Bleed## aren't you Mel lol lol

There's Jane complaining about the cold and I have turned down the heating, down to a pair of shorts and still burning hot. !!! Ros is still wrapped up in her dressing gown. She had a strip wash this morning and put on a clean nightie. I said if you are comfortable then stay as you are.

Jane, Ros uses Spec Save### and finds them very good. They never miss anything, but would have you spend money that you don't need too. Be careful.!!!

SOAPS, SOAPS, SOAPS, I won't tune in till 9.00 pm for the Prisoners in Aylesbury. Then I think it will be bed.

The time you have been without your car, I would think they will sevice and MOT it FOC. They can afford it. !!! Who is your dealership (one of the big ones) ??

Did anyone see four in a bed teatime. That Chinese Woman's outfit was something different. I'm glad she changed to do the cooking.

I see in Peterborough that's there a school, where ENGLISH is not the first language. What is happening to OUR COUNTRY. Sorry if it upsets anyone. but where does it stop. ???
Tony next door just rang to see if I wanted a lift to the pub tonight, for thwe football. When Ros said no, he said, he must be feeling bad !!!

Maureen, My neighbour Tony does a lot of water colour painting, He has exibitions around town and sells most of what he paints. I must have five or six of his work. Blisworth Canal, The High Street in the snow, Water scenes of waves. and a copy of St. Peters Square.

Well i'm going to Ebay for a while, will pop back later.

That must have been a surprise Mel. Now you have another trips to get it looked at. It just shows it is good to get your eyes tested though. I never had an eye test after school until I was about 45......silly really. I hope your new specs are covered in bling at that price!! It is shocking what they cost though, mine were designer frames with varifocals for £291 last month and I thought that was a lot!! I had Spec*avers ones before these and think you get a better deal (2 pairs) there.

What John had sounds very painful Jane. The poor thing must have been quite worried about it. Sounds like Fitz has had wet times in Wales too! I bet he has tried out a few of the restaurants and bars in the book he lent you!! ;-) I would definitely try a bit of haggling about your car, even if you can only squeeze a few air fresheners out of them!!

It does make you wonder what else they will find 'horse' in too doesn't it. Like Maureen I don't eat a lot of meat, a bit of lamb at times but mostly white meat and fish. We do get 1 or 2 ready meals at times, but I have fish ones. Occasionally OH will have beef lasagne when we eat out but I have noticed he is now choosing turkey like me!!! lol. What bothers me is what other animals there might be that they are not testing for? :-S

I look forward to seeing a photo Maureen. I must confess the thought of a big canvas scares me. I have only used little brushes for the bit I have done and can't imagine using bigger ones!! :-0

I see there is a school in Peterborough that has 400 pupils with none of them having english as a first language and over 20 different languages spoken. How do you start to teach them things until they can speak english. It must delay their progress. (oh I see Frank has just mentioned it in his post!)

Well Frank.....OH changed his mind and has gone to the match after all. Who says women can't make their minds up!! :-)

Morning/Evening All
What a horrible morning. It is misty and murky with a chill wind.Just popping in quickly now before doing a few things and then my Eye Test.

Ann Fitz has marked all the places in that book that he has visited. So I know they will all be decent lol.But we will find our own places too :-D That's half the fun.

Pat how are Mocha and Max getting along.Still good friends?

I hope all colds are clearing up and that those of you with them are feeling better than yesterday :-D

Must press on now so BBL

Morning All/Evening Kim

Morning Mel

We have the sun today a blue sky with several clouds, don't know how long it will last.

Not very busy today, just do a bit of tiding up.

Took a picture of this squirrel the other week it was sitting on the roof of the back extension, and I was looking out of the back bedroom window, didn't seem to be bothered about me .

You can see I had trouble posting this morning can't you. I kept getting the error page come up. :-( :-| :-|

I shall delete two of those postings.

Actually I had typed Morning all and evening and no words appeared in the box. I was just going to click the cursor on the box again and they popped up all on their own.

Perhaps the fairies are at work today................

Afternoon everyone,

Dull old day here , not so cold though, been to Te*co's got a few bits, every time you go i think the price of things has gone up ,just two small bags and two bunches of flowers nearly thirty pound !!

Hope you both soon feel better Frank, not like you to miss going to the pub for a match !! you must feel bad :-(

Sons still off work with the Gout, his poor feet are so swollen, i'am going to see if i can find some socks with the wider tops ,his socks are nearly cutting into his legs ,there quite a mark when he takes them off.

Hubby is trying to manage on his own at work without son ,he moans about him some times but i think he's missing him really.

Right jobs to do .

I remember that photo of Fiona with her dog too.

I thought you had been to Venice before Jane. I would love to go to Italy, eat my way from North to South.

How many pairs of specs did you get for that Mel. I went recently, Frank is right SpecS**vers do get you to spend more than you intended, I was only going to have the lenses changed in mine but ended up with four new pairs but only £190 for frames and lenses.

I remember you mentioning your neighbour who paints before Frank, mine aren't nearly good enough to be sold, just to hang on my walls. I work in acrylic, it's easier than watercolour or oil. It was daunting Ann, this large white canvas staring at me but once I'd slapped a bit of paint on and got going it was okay, mind you this was my second attempt, thank god for white paint is all I can say.

Love the squirrel photo Fiona, they do look cute don't they but are pests.

Frank you can always copy and paste those things onto an email to me you know. It would give you good practice.

Now here is a poser for you all. I thought about it as I was ironing and thought of Maureen.

How would your occupation have been put on a census from say 1860?

I think mine would probably be Gardener Domestic.

Now lets hear yours.
