I think horse meat a sweeter than beef. I seem to remember my grandad telling me they had it in the war.

Yes David ...posh mushrooms lol.I'm not sure why I really bought them.I usually just get the white ones.I think these are a bit more meaty and have more flavour.I will find out soon.
Frank I did laugh at the Find** Bologneigh neigh email with the grinning horse on the pack :-D
I reckon we have all been eating it if we have bought some of those meals.

I have been looking up Hotels in Venice for the end of September. Can't believe how booked up they are :-S.I even looked at apartments. But I don't really want one of those even though some look really great.I am not planning on Self catering lol.

Liz,do you ever go to the records office in Malmesbury??

LilyL Report 15 Feb 2013 20:07

Aplogies about the card Mel. i don't think that I shall bother with them anymore, I had all that non-delivery at Xmas, and now this! urrrrr!!
Sorry Jane, I'm afraid that I don't. I've done all I want to do with my tree and I didn't have any rellies who lived anywhere round here, they were all in Glos, Somerset, Oxford or Norfolk!!!
Should be a fine weekend, so maybe a bit of garden tidying, It'll be nice to be outside.

I meant to say ,this morning I could hear a voice that sounded like it was on a speaker coming from out the front. It was the Scrap Man .Have never seen one before down our road.It was an open backed lorry that just drove very slowly past all the houses with a repeated recorded voice(I couldn't understand what it said ,but guessing asking for scrap metal). He wasn't having much luck as it was empty :-S
Dinner ready now..Yum Yum !

Ellen and I have one of those automatic wrist blood pressure monitors.
She who was a nurse has remarked that mine's been up lately, usually in the morning.
If I remember I must ask Doctor to check.
Ive an appointment booked so worth a mention.

I'd like to hear her say there's nothing wrong with you.

I must be morbid. At lunch time I was reading on here all about Dr Harold Shipman.
Various numbers acredited to him the highesr being 265 !!
What makes a man do that? espescially(?) a doctor?
Must have kept many from visiting their GP

Have just looked on line Jane, and the Records Office round here is at Chippenham or Swindon, there isn't one at Malmesbury!! You can go on line for info from either of these offices.

Evening All,

Glad I was of help David..........I'm not very au fait with computers but remember that being done with mine when it got a virus. :-) I have a BP machine at home too and have to have BP checked at the surgery every year. The nurse has asked me to take the last few readings with me when I go to see her as mine, like most people's, is higher at the surgery. She has checked my machine is accurate.

OH must have had horse as he likes beef lasagne and has had it at one of those places!! I always have the veg lasagne with not eating beef. I am still wondering if they will find it in lamb products though as I occasionally have Shepherd's pie!! I remember when mum worked at a holiday camp that had Poodle kennels, I would go with her at times and of course I would wander into the kennel block to see the dogs.:-D :-D They used to cook horsemeat to feed the dogs and when it was cooking.........ooohhhh I thought the pong was awful!!!! lol.

Mandy, a shop tried to charge me £1.90 too much this morning and it was me that noticed not them. They had added in the Racing Post by mistake!! lol. Are those oranges the Navel ones? I know those are around at this time of the year.......must get some!! :-D It's really good the grandchildren get fruit from you......gets them in good habits.

Kim, after 2 accidents I don't think I would be wanting to ride in her car! I remember being a bit shocked after I passed my test aged 17 that my friend's mum was a bit uncertain about her daughter being driven by me. I think I felt a bit insulted at the time as her mother couldn't even drive herself!! Dad was the biggest surprise as I was the only other person he allowed to drive his cars. I remember him sending me to the bank in his brand new big Triumph 2000 the day he got it. I never had any accidents though......he would have gone ballistic and into orbit if I had!!! :-0

I'd like to publicly thank you again Ann.....I'd imagined either having to pay some one to to fix it or buy another..
Your remedy solved my problem and saved me that expense THANX

MY BP machine is Homedics wrist blood pressure monitor.
Perhaps the truth of the read out is down to the strength of the batteries?

Still,it's good to know we have a pulse

Jane

Jane Report 15 Feb 2013 21:44

Thanks Liz :-D.

I passed my driving test at quite an early age (maybe 18 or 19 ) The following week I got a job as a driver for a vet .My job was to collect and deliver dogs to go in for grooming, or ops.It was a small Bedford Van (Blue and White). After the days work I would use it to go out in the evenings with all my pals. They would pile into the back and off we would go to town.I used to clean it out with disinfectant at the end of each day so it was clean
I was not really allowed to use the van out of hours.(if only my boss knew lolol)
How I got away with it I shall never know. :-S :-S.I took so many risks in those days.Just thinking of it now makes me quake!!..If it was now ..I would be banned from driving
:-S :-S.It is quite frightening to think back to those days.Thank heavens I'm still here :-D

Yes thank heavens you are still here.

Horse meat is now in school meals and pub meals.

Annx

Annx Report 15 Feb 2013 23:26

Gawd Jane, you certainly flew by the seat of your pants!! lol. Piling your friends in would have voided the insurance if you'd had an accident. These days employers have to be careful about allowing private use of vans or they have to stump up £100s in Class1A NI and tax!

It was a 40mph speed limit everywhere for vans when I drove dad's little Austin after I passed my test, but few people stuck to it and I got stopped and warned once by a policeman on a motorbike. His first question was 'and how old are you then?' I had to show my licence, the log book etc at a police station within 5 days, so I HAD to tell dad because I wanted the log book. He went through the roof!!!!! He said I'd automatically go to prison if I got stopped again and I believed him, didn't sleep that night worrying about it. I made sure I never got stopped again though. :-)Phew!!

When you think how it used to be though.......no barriers on motorways and we drove without seatbelts!! Slack steering, brakes that would pull to one side, poor lights and wipers, much narrower roads and lanes, poor street lighting and less of it, far more hairpin bends, smog!! It's a wonder we all survived but at least there were less of us on the roads. then.

MEgirl Report 16 Feb 2013 05:20

Hello everyone,

Another sunny, warm day, but the cloud is coming. I hope we get some rain.

Yes I'm glad my girl wasn't in the car with Melissa. She usually is and the passenger side was totally wiped out. She lost demerit points for going through the amber light as it changed to red. Bit of a lead foot.

Mandy if you go by train from our closest station it is about an hour and a half to Sydney, then you have to get off and change trains depending on which part of the city you want. I haven't been down into the city centre in years, so it's all changed and bike paths everywhere too.

Miranda had that interview on Tuesday and they said they would notify her in two days. So far she hasn't heard anything. Even if she was not successful, I believe they need to let her know and she can continue applying for other jobs.

Jane we all took risks in our younger days, but they are nothing compared to what some of the young ones do now and you are right there are far more cars on the roads. Sydney is choking with traffic and public transport is a mess, just too many people living there and the infrastucture is not coping.

Time for a coffee and some cake that OH just made. I hope to be back later.

I passed my 'test' when I was 20, first time ha!ha! no one more surprised than me!!! my mother took me out for practice again and again, and AGAIN! even meeting me from work in Oxford and MAKING me drive home day after day! Patience of a saint I'd say!!! weekend were spent three point turning on a quiet road, etc etc! but it had the desired effect!!! After that I was allowed to 'borrow' my mothers car VERY occasionally, but still went to work on the bus and most other places too! When I got married a year later, it was given to us as part of our wedding present, it was an old Renault, my mother upgraded to a Dauphine, and I was bequeathed the model before that (engine in the back, and only three gears + reverse) Frank will know what I mean. OH and I went miles and miles in that little car + our son as a baby. I really loved it and was very sad when it went!

Morning All ad Evening Kim,

So dau is still waiting. I wish they would reply wheter you had to job or not.

Dry this morning after a heavy frost but at least it is not rianing. I think the sun is trying to come out somewhere as it keeps turning a little brighter.

I passed my test on Wednesday 13th Dec. told work I had a dentist appointment. Think I was 18 and I can remember getting back to the test centre and the horrid miserable bloke I had to test me said "Well Miss Hannabus.......you have passed" After that I drove my dads anglia builders van which was brand new.

Morning all/Evening Kim,

Not been up long, had a terrible night. Went to bed at 11.00 was still awake at 1.00 am Ros was just coming to bed as I got up. I was up till 4.00 am and awake again by 6.30 am I feel a total wreck.

Rightly or wrongly, I went on line, and sent my Daughter an Email of a few home truths, which went on for a long time. I have sat back for to many years being the black sheep, and thought here we go. I don't expect any reaction from her or her brother. BUT GAWD do I feel better.

My first car was a 1948 Ford Prefect 4 door saloon. The wipers were on pressure from the vacume, so to make them work better you had to slow down. No washers, other than a bottle carried in the car. Traffic arm indicators, which I modernised with a set of back and front indicators. which winked as they do today. Only 3 forward gears. I did hundreds of miles in that old girl , and sold it for what I pain for it £25.,00

Ros went off shopping at 10.30 with Martine, then going to have her nails done, so don't know what time I will se her.

Nice still morning here. bright sunshine and I think it looks warmish.

Mel, I am very sorry about the ecard. I pay an annual fee to be able to use this, and if I am not getting the service I will complain (BITTERLY) and try to get a refund on my sudscription. But you know my thoughts were with you on on 14th.

Mel, I have resent your card. But looking back at my sent cards history. It seems you haven't opened my other cards, including Christmas. I had a lot of problems with Janes card also.

Shower and shave time.

Afternoon everyone,Evening Kim,

Nice and sunny here today ,i have turned the heating off this morning ,might as well save a few pennies on the gas bill !!

I passed my test first time , i thought i had failed as he said we will now do hand signals ...and what did i do put the winker on when he said to turn , i was so pleased to have passed as dad had bought me a little blue Mini , felt the Bees Knees in that until i got stopped coming along the high street with no working back lights !! :-D i think it was a fuse gone .

I also remember getting in Dads Rover not long after passing my test and because it was a bigger engine than the Mini i put my foot down and reversed a bit to quick and scraped another parked car !! not to much damage ,you could hardly see it !!

Yes Ann they are the Navel Oranges ,full of juice .
My Jewellery Kit has arrived :-D just got to work out what goes where with it now .

So Sydney is not to far away from you then Kim, i hope they let your daughter know about the job one way or the other , the young ones go for these interviews the least employers could do is let them know .

Oh Frank, i hope you've done the right thing sending that email ,i hope it doesn't stir things up and get you all upset and worked up :-S <3

Hubby wanted Parsnip soup for lunch today so i've got that bubbling on the hob ,i'd better go and give it a stir .
