Morning Everyone, Evening Kim.

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Happy Birthday Mel, Hope you have a nice day, don't work to hard. :-D <3 <3 <3

:-| :-| :-| I ordered a pair of boots last weekend on line from Bran&ano (they don't do size 2 on the shelves any more)and I was hoping they would arrive today or tomorrow , so I decided not to go out in case they came today,
Just my flippen luck door bell goes and I am in the shower washing my hair. the parcel needs to be signed for, so he can't leave it anywhere.
Card says I have to wait 24 hours before I go to the post office to collect it. will have to go down tomorrow and get it, thinking of popping into M&S at the same time ,need a long dressing gown the only one I have is just above my knee and my legs are freezing these mornings,
OH says put on a pair of woolie socks :-| :-| ;-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL. Morning all others/evening kim.

Flowers for Ros just arrived. they are enormous, All types of flowers including RED ROSES. It's a local Garden centre that wqe have used for donkey years, they certainly look after me.
I bet on line or from town they would have been £50.00. !!

Have sent you your daily Emails, hope you enjoy them.

Snow all gone, and a bit of sunshine around first thing, cloudy now though.

JANE I GO TO THE DOCTORS TODAY AT 2.30 pm. Just in case you FORGOT. poor soul :-D :-D :-D

Any plans for today Mel, Is Mr Mel, taking you out to lunch ???

All the childhood games that we could play in the strreet before the motor car took over. We would play cricket, football, hockey, all types of release games and hiding seak etc. We would be within calling distance of home. When it was time to go in, M or D would call out of the front door, and we would all pack up and go in, till the next day/evening. Did it ever RAIN when we were children.??? If it did it never bothered us, or interrupted our playtime !!

Tree climbing was another great passtime in the summer. We wouyld go to the woods, with a days food supply, and climb every type of tall tree. the taller the better, and never had any fear of falling, G O K what we would have done if someone fell from the tree, and broken anything. No fear, but that was about being young.

<3 <3 <3HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL <3 <3 <3 Hope you have a lovely day.

There are a few young lads with respect still, at my mums funeral as we were on our way to the crematorium I noticed a young lad stood still and took off his baseball cap as we went past.

If you like The Carpenters William you should have a listen to a singer called Rumer, she sounds like Karen Carpenter.

Frank Report 14 Feb 2013 15:52

All injected up for another three weeks.. I walked round to the Dr. and had to wait till they opened. Never been there before when they were closed. On the way back bumped into three difference people who I hadn't seen for a long time. It was lovely standing in the sunshine chatting and very warm. It's now peeing with rain.

Ros has just popped to Tesc# to get some bits. She is doing one of her curry's tonight, so no cooking for me.

Pat we had to do the same, you couldn't trust them, they would be able to sell on the extra bag somewhere along the way.

The dustmen would collect the bin from inside the back gate. There was also a sack for paper and another for rags. So recycling is nothing new.

How did you get on with the garage Jane, if you are back by now.??? I bet you gave them some stick. !!

Maureen , Last night on local radio, they played two Karen Carpenter's records. What a beautiful voice she had, and what a pity that she left us so young. Is her brother still around ???

Maureen

Maureen Report 14 Feb 2013 16:03

Richard Carpenter, yes I think he is Frank, probably more into the technical side of music these days.

Isn't it always the way Fiona, the times I've come downstairs to find one of those cards from the postman through the letterbox, 24 hrs. seems a long time, mine usually say 2 hours.

Lovely bright sunny day, but I'm still cold :-(

Jane

Jane Report 14 Feb 2013 16:19

You will skipping along soon Frank :-D.I did remember it was today :-P :-P
:-D
Well I was very polite (as always :-D) at the garage.I will have the courtesy car for I reckon at least another week.I don't understand all the technical stuff. But oil had been leaking onto some wires and had corroded them. The new wires came in but the connector wasn't the right one ,even though it was supposed to be.So I think now instead of modifying the one that came they have sent for another one from France.
The chap I spoke to said it is a very rare thing to happen and he has never seen this in the years he has been working there. It would be my car wouldn't it :-S :-S :-S

I have had some lovely flowers which are looking very pretty on the hearth. :-D.2 different kinds of red rose and some blue flowers (which the name escapes me).
Not sure what dinner is going to be like tonight. It is Cauliflower Cheese and Bacon Risotto.
Mel are you having a special meal tonight?? Have you opened your pressies yet?

The sun is still shining, the greedy woodpecker is swinging around on the coconut and all the little birds are sat on all the branches waiting their turn. They wait really patiently just looking on lol
Cuppa Tea now.

A very late . . . .

H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y T O M E L :-)

also

A VERY HAPPY ST. VALENTINE'S DAY to ALL THE LADIES ON THE THREAD.

Sorry it's late in the day, but I took my Valentine out for the day to Kenilworth. We thought we would take advantage of a day without (nearly!) rain. However, one or two roads had rather an excess of water and the road in Kenilworth near the castle was closed due to flooding. Result, a long detour, traffic back-ups, but otherwise a pleasant day.

Yes, Maureen, I know Rumer, I'm very fond of her singing. I'm also pleasde with the latest song from Dido, she hasn't had much on the radio lately, but I like her new one. I've also noticed just lately that they are playing more of Karen Carpenter's songs, no complaints from me there.

I've had a really lovely day! When I came through to breakfast this am (OH always gets it!) I found a little vase of snowdrops on my plate and a note with them that said "A valentine I went and got, because I love you such a lot". Admittedly they were from the garden, but I was so pleased, they really touched me. Lunchtime the' tribe' appeared, Ed (and the girls) had bought some daffodils and again I was so touched, so I now have three vases of daffs and my snowdrops. We were able to have a good walk today as the weather was sunny and quite warm, Ed had bought his 'motor bike' which he roomed up and down the road - we then played cards and they went off about 20 mins ago,
Mel, I hope that you've had a good birthday, and that my ecard got to you alright. Curry for supper, nice and easy!!!!

Jane Report 14 Feb 2013 18:23

My Dad always gave Mum a Valentine Card, but one year as a bit of a joke also sent 2 to a couple of ladies (in their group of friends) he didn't sign them.I think there must have been a party or get together and these ladies were telling everyone of their secret admirer .They showed the cards.Mum then realised it was Dad, as he had sent the same card to her lol.I don't think she was amused lolol. Poor Dad,if only he had had the sense to send different ones it would have remained a mystery :-D.I don't think he ever did it again.

I had a crush on a boy at senior school .He was called Charles.I sent him a card, and got one from him.
His verse was Roses are red
Violets are blue
You are a pain
I hate you
:-( :-( :-( My heart was broken :-(...........I often wonder what happened to him

Many Happy Returns Mel X

If there's a braint one on this threaxd I need a little help.
In order to help speed up my PC I had a look to see what was running and deleted one or two things I don't use.
Then I noticed listed Multimedia and I deleyed it
Now I have no sound out put on media or you tube.
Can't reconnect it Ive tried.
What apart from prayer have I over looked?

Think I'll sit in the bath, have a soak.

Jane

Jane Report 14 Feb 2013 19:15

Don't ask me David lol ....I wouldn't have a clue :-S :-S............Enjoy your soak :-D

I have started this rather strange risotto.Have cooked bite size bits of cauliflower and bacon bits and onion.Chris has grated the cheese as my hands are too painful.
Instead of using stock for this recipe ,it uses milk.1.7 litres !!!!! :-S :-S.Gawd knows how it will turn out lol
I'll let you know later :-D :-D

James was really miffed as some present he had ordered for Valentines for Jess will not arrive(maybe out of stock)..I asked him what it was.He just looked at me and said 'You don't need to know Mum".So I'm guessing it was something a bit ;-) ;-) ;-) :-D

I too remember counting the sacks of coal being delivered.I hadn't realised it was to make sure we had the right number of sacks.I always felt sorry for the poor coal men because they were so dirty.Their faces were so black with their eyes looking big.Up until about 8 years ago I had a proper coal man who would carry the sacks on his back and tip the coal into the bunker. Now we mainly use logs I just buy a few bags of household coal at the Garden Shop.

David, you could try googling 'how to restore your computer to an earlier point'. There are various instructions there depending on your system, but if you could restore it to the day before you lost your sound, you could hopefully get your sound back!

Jane

Jane Report 14 Feb 2013 20:53

Still haven't eaten.....I have spent an hour and a half stirring all this milk into the risotto. It's done now and I'm just waiting for the peas.
The comments from Chris when he saw the final outcome was .I can fill the cracks in the drive with that !!!!!!!!.How Rude :-S.He just needs a trowel :-S :-S
I have done enough to feed us for the next week !!!!!.I will be dishing it up in a wheelbarrow I think :-D :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Feb 2013 20:56

David go to your recycling bin and see if it is still there and undelete it.

Oh has just showed me how to do it on mine and everything I have deleted is in there.

Annx Report 14 Feb 2013 21:04

OH chuckled so much at his card he had to mop his eyes!! lol. He's been chuckling about it on and off all day. I tell him not to get flowers as they can be poor value at some places just because of the date, but I would have loved your bunch of snowdrops Liz, that was such a lovely idea!! Instead he took me out for brekkie and then to the cinema this afternoon to see Django Unchained.

Oh Jane, what a nuisance having to wait again for your car parts! Hopefully there will be no more hitches now!

Pat I used to love 2 ball and even a bit of 3 ball against the wall............till mum would come out and complain about the noise like you say!! I remember we'd do variations like 1 under and 1 over or 1 ball up in the air and the next to the wall and underleg ones too with your skirt tucked in. We'd also keep the balls going but take over from each other. Do girls still play these sorts of games?

Frank, the only way to be sure to get an appointment on the same day here is to go and queue at the surgery before they open!! By the time you can get through on the phone all the appointments can be taken. I have just had a letter to go for an NHS checkup. I haven't had a letter for one before.

Jane I did laugh at your dinner and Chris's remarks.

I have had a lovely day. I hada mugs with Happy Birthday on it come through the post with that pic of Hogwart on it I sent out the other day.

Then in the afternoon a big box arrived. Inside was 24 red roses a Valentine Card a heart shaped ballooon with I love you wriotten on it and a bag of chocolates. Have worn my boots out tonight to go and get fish and chips for dinner. Oh drove to Holsworthy and I went in to get them. Had those with a nice bottle of wine and am now stuffed. Friend rang and said she would be here tomorrow as her leg was too painfull today to drive. She has Fleabitus (sp)????? hope I have spelt that right, probably not...........

18 cards so far today one is a valentine and a bit naughty but he knew it would make me laugh and could'nt resist it.

No card from Liz, perhaps it will arrive tomorrow.

Mandy I just love my little fairy and Maureen the rose is beautifull too.
So nice when they are handmade and a real keepsake.

Ann love my hedgehog card, thank you.

Thanks to everyone who sent cards.
