Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Feb 2013 10:29

Morning All and Evening Kim,

I think we had that fine rain all night. It is absolutely soaking outside. The ground just can't take anymore. Just when you have a nice dry day and you think the earth is drying a bit down comes the rain and it is all well and sticky again. My chickens need platform soles!!!! or waders.

Thanks for the snowy pics Shirl. What amazes me is that you have all that snow on the ground but none on the houses rooves??

Morning everyone, evening Kim

Watched the news last night to see all the snow in Canada, wow :-0 :-0
Its trying to snow here but I hope we never get that much snow. we have had a lot of rain to Mel , ground is really muddy.

My sister in law Lesley had her 50th birthday last Thursday and had been thinking instead of a party she would like a trip to New York, just her and her hubby, but decided to give it a miss when she saw what the weather had in store over there. Maybe will go later on in the year.
She and her OH went out with friends and celebrated with a meal , she said she had a great night
:-)

It might be best to delete David just to be on the safe side.

I won't be going anywhere today. It's miserable now.Light cold rain and everything is grey :-S.I keep watching for the first sign of the rain turning wintry.

Roast Beef today, but not until early evening .it seems a while since I did a proper roast on a sunday.

Shirl should have made us a big Snowman :-D

Morning everyone,

Dull here this morning with rain ,still it's better than snow .

Hubby has just popped out to sons and when he comes back he wants to look at our out side light ,he put a new bulb in yesterday and last night the light still didn't work ,it one of those sensor lights ,a bit of a job to check during the day as it will only come on when its dark !!

Toby's birthday today :-D and i haven't been out to treat him to any thing :-S

Morning you lot/Evening Kim.
Cuppa and banana in bed your Ladyship. What are you going to do after the banana, swing from the light shade :-D :-D :-D

Dull old day here also, Steady rain at the moment, and a good N/W wind., don't think I will be going far today. Had thought of going down the PUB. West Ham are playing Ashton Villa YARN YARN (I CAN SEE YOU) !!! Kick off 1,30 pm

I have had breakfast, washed up and put everything away. Have prepared the Veg for dinner Roast leg of Pork with the usual. Staying away from HORSE for a while. :-0 :-0 :-0

Who of you could/can tell the difference between a joint of BEEF and HORSE. I know during the war we ate it, from an abattoir in Chigwell. When it was minced with onions stale bread, into rissoles, you really didn't notice the difference. We had to eat some meat. You couldn't live on corned beef and SPAM. The cupeons didn't get you a lot. This is why I think I still like Livrer and Onions, breast of lamb, and cheap cuts of meats. (NOT THAT ANY MEAT IS CHEAP)

I see in New York that snow was falling at the rate of SIX INCHES every Hour. Thats some snow, Hope we dont get it over here.

Happy Birthday Toby. Have a bone on me. !!!

Have you seen the price of Flowers on line, there is one on the side of the page now upto 30% off with free delivery for ONLY £34.99. They can keep them !!!

Off for a shower and get dressed. Then see what the weathers like before I decide to go out or not.

Jane

Jane Report 10 Feb 2013 12:30

Now Now Frank ,that would be telling ;-)

I doubt if 2 joints of Beef and Horse were put in front of me that I would be able to tell them apart.I am assuming that they must look very similar.

Did anyone watch the programme the other night with Martin Clunes and the Working Horses? What beautiful creatures :-D :-DI thought it was a fantastic programme.
We used to have a Shire Horse in the village back in the 60's.He was called Rocket and was a gentle giant. He was kept in a field down by the beach and each time me and my friend went down we would call his name and he would come down to the gate.He was used to pull the Hay Cart when it was Haymaking time and all the children were allowed to take turns in riding on the top.Oh what fun we had :-D :-D

I am not doing much today even though there are plenty of things that need to be done.I have the Eastend*** Omnibus on now so will sit and watch that

Frank, Whalebone Lane (A1112) runs from the South at Becontree Heath (junction with Green Lane). So W Lane, South - then it meets our old 'High Road' (A118), then becomes Whalebone Lane North all the way up to just past Collier Row.
Can't recall a pub called the Whalebone, but a new pub was built just off the A12 Eastern Avenue and is called the Moby Dick but can't recall seeing whalebones there! I've got a book here on Chadwell Heath with old photos too but althought there is a photo of the house, there is no pub shown, so can't help you there. Anyway, hope that 'puts you on the map, so to speak. My old school, The Warren (still going today, is situated on Whalebone Lane North, just south of the Moby Dick.

No Snow yet.It is still raining :-) .I did end up nipping to Tes** at 3pm as I really needed more Potatoes and Veg for tomorrow.I think it will be left over Beef,Mash, plus veg.The joint I have just cooked is big and I think may be enough for the 3 of us for 3 meals.

It now looks like the rain is changing to sleet so maybe we will get the snow after all.

Tomorrow morning Hannah's John has an appointment at hospital to get the results of his CT ,Ultrasound and blood test.It is all a bit stressful. His parents have come down from the Wirral and are staying until he gets the results.I'm sure it will be ok and that it is nothing bad.

How is the Birthday Doggie? Was he miffed not having a present Mandy? :-D.Is is 13 or 14? I think you got it wrong last year didn't you and made him a year older than he was lol

I need to turn the Potatoes now.

It's just another day for Toby but i'll get him some thing later in the week when i feel like going out , my knees feel like jelly when i walk :-)
He's twelve Jane :-D yes i did get it wrong last year, thought he was a year older than he is , i have to remember what the year is and then i know he's one year

Jane

Jane Report 10 Feb 2013 18:54

It definitely is turning to snow now.Chester just came in looking a bit white !

Mandy I think everyone will be on tenderhooks until John gets the results. But Chris thinks it could be something as simple as a nasty viral thing. So we just hope it is just that.

My dinner is almost ready.Everything cooked and keeping warm .Just waiting for the veg now.The Beef smells really really really good :-D(I don't feel that hungry though yet :-S)as often happens when I have spent all the time cooking it.

Mandy did you have anything planned for tomorrow ,like going out for a meal?.I bet it will be a week before you fell back on form.

Just seen a gritter go up the road.

Mel how are the Chickens doing?Still paddling ?....Have we heard from Shirl today?

Frank

Frank Report 10 Feb 2013 20:20

Evening all,

Will, you are right it was the" Moby Dick" and it was there I saw the whale bones !!!

Yes Mel, Same colours. We got beat today. I went down, after Ros offered to take me. I sat in the lounge bar with a mate, and settled down for the match. Pint in hand and a good chat, when in walked a complete stranger., and got into conversation which he quickly turned around to suit him. He started off about how lovely it was that we had all these imigrants in the Country. and how he was looking forward to having the borders open at the end of the year for the next influx. I stood it for so long, and finally told him in no uncertain terms, to shut his blood# row up, and watch the football. Well into the second half, still 0-0. He started again. I put my coat on got my stick and left the bar. A big crowd of "friends" were watching the Rugby, when I walk through. They couldn't believe that I would walk out on a West Ham match. When I told them what had happened. They wanted to throw him out !!! Oh no said I. I will leave before I do something I will be sorry for later. It's not very often someone can wind me up to the point I could get violent. So I walked home in the pouring rain. Ros was due to collect me when the match finished. So to say the least I am not the happiest bunny in the burrow. :-| :-| :-

Been snowing here all evening, and settled, could have a fair bit if this continues.|

Thoses Horses made from Driftwood were absolutely beautiful.

Jane We had an old cart horsew called "GINGER" at the local dairy. He was used to help pull the loaded milk carts up Drapers/Millmans Hill. Mel will know where I mean. When at the top we would unhook him and throw the chains over his back and off he would go back down the hill. We would wait until he turned into the dairy before setting off on the round. The last time I was there it was used as a storeage for new cars, by a Vauxha## dealer. All the horse stralls then housed cars. What memories I had of that place. which I will go into some time.

Stay safe and warm everyone. See you in the morning.

Jane Report 10 Feb 2013 21:07

Good Job you walked out Frank.I would hate the thought of you ending up in the Clink :-S. :-S.Sometimes we just have to ignore things and walk away like you did.Well done. But I'm sorry you missed the rest of the match.
I will be off soon. But I might watch some of the Baftas
I say ...doesn't Stephen Fry look dashing!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Feb 2013 23:06

Well you lot are unlucky with your snow. We still hav'nt had anymore since that small amount a few weeks ago.

Frank I am sorry you did'nt see your match because of that person. Still better to be safe than sorry and I am glad you had the courage to walk away.

Hope Mandy feels better for her birthday tomorrow so she can have a lovely day.

Yes remember the Moby Dick and drapers Hill the place my dad always said he would take my with my sledge when it snowed.....he never did but it must have been a great place for sledging as it was very long and quite steep.
