Yes, Ann, I also remember we used to say oompah oompah etc. I was watching a film yesterday about kids circa 50's at school and at play called 'Ptang Bang Kipper Bang' - just the daft sort of thing you used to make up at that age among your mates as a secret code. I dread to think what they make up these days. It's a shame the innocence of the young seems to be lost these days. There's a big school near here ( won't mention the name in case I get a brick through our window LOL) but when they all come out of school and make there way through town it's certainly not happy hour.

Poor old Frank, all that typing and it just disappeared into hyperspace. How annoying to put it very politely. I bet that's not what he said. ;-)

Jane, John must be so relieved its nothing serious , i bet he will sleep well tonight

Well we seemed to have missed the snow this time round , your garden looks lovely Frank.

Ann, what a bargain with the Boots !! and leather too!!
I must remember to say Oompah Oompah stick it up your jumper to the little ones next time they come ,they will think it funny :-D

Little Katie makes me laugh ,every time she comes she comes out with some thing , she wanted the loo and she has her own little toilet seat that fits over our toilet seat but she needs help getting up onto it......i have a step at home she says ....oh i said where do you buy them from ......Poundland she says :-D :-D they are thirty five pound !!! :-D :-D

Jane Report 11 Feb 2013 20:19

LOL Mandy.I love it when little children come out with funny things.I bet you are worn out now after having the family.Feet up tonight :-D

Yes John was relieved.Hannah said his face was sweating so much when they went in for the results.I think the fact it was at the Macmillan Hospital that was freaking him out :-(..She said he has slept all afternoon !!!! Nervous exhaustion I think.

Just dishing up dinner now.

MillymollyAmanda Report 11 Feb 2013 20:29

Oh poor John, i can see now why he was so worried with it being a Macmillan Hospital, lets hope it settles down and he soon feels better ,then they can both start enjoying their new home together :-)

Another thing Katie came out with last week was when they sat at the table eating
was ........there's NITS in the school !!!! :-D :-D LOL

Jane

Jane Report 11 Feb 2013 21:11

Ooh Nits! ....Hannah had them once.We couldn't understand why she had this awful rash down the back of her neck.Turned out to be a reaction to NITS.She was crawling :-S :-S :-S.(Making me itch now lol)Chris was sent off to the late night Chemist to get the lotion and we were all washed and head wrapped that night.Thankfully that was the one and only time .

Watching Lewis now.

Annx Report 11 Feb 2013 21:37

Bless her Mandy!! She knows how to make folk sit up and take notice doesn't she!! lol. My brother and sister got fleas from a donkey once and they were in their hair and making them itch like mad. I kept well away with my long teenage locks I can tell you!! The treatment worked though, but I think my little brother was expecting mum to pick them all out straightaway. He was quite disappointed when she said she couldn't.

I'm off to bed now. We both feel tired and a bit under the weather today so I hope I manage to get a good night's sleep. Sometimes I think the cold weather makes you tired. Night, Night ....xx

Pope Benedict suffered 2 strokes before being elected pope.
He also suffers from high blood pressure and arthritis and is aged 85.
I genuinely feel sorry for him.

It's been bitterly cold since dawn today.
This afternoon saw 2 gritters and a snow plough, and it hasn't landed yet.
Must be doing some councillors street?

Many Happy returns Amanda X

Thank you David.

DIL has a stock of the lotion for nits as they seem to be about again , i remember the last time ,i think it was Chelsea that had them as she has long hair , DIL striped them all off as soon as they got in from school ,they all had their hair washed in the lotion and all the uniforms went in the wash !!
When we went to the sports day the little girl that keeps spreading them was scratching away i did feel sorry for her ,she has the afro hair ,very thick , the parents just don't seem to be bothered :-S

Hope you both feel better tomorrow Ann, hope your not coming down with this virus !!
DIL's sister's mother-in-law has had this virus for a month now !!!

Night Night xx

Mandy I am cross with oh as he was supposed to post your card and he forgot so I had to post it today........sorry.

Well I am very late on here tonight.

Went shopping this afternoon and also went up Bideford high St first and bought a pair of boots from oh for my birthday. Also liked a pair of shoes that were in the sale so bought those myself. Nothing like the prices Ann has seen today though. Boots £75 and the shoes in the sale were £50. Both black and they should do me for a few years now I hope.

I am pleased John's result were good and perhaps he can relax a bit now and get better soon.

Mandy it sounds like you had a lovely day and Katie's remarks did make me laugh. They say these things with such a straight face too.

Never had any trouble with fleas or nits but remember having the nurse around at school. Hated it when looked in your hair as I always had long hair.

Frank I have told you before to copy your long posts before you lose them and then you don't have to type it all again you can just paste it back in the box. Thats why I wanted you to learn how to do it.

We hav'nt had the heating on today at all except this evening just before dinner.

I member oompah etc. My grandad used to say it!!

Have my breast screening on the 22nd of this month. I always worry about it.

Morning all/Evening Kim,

NO Jane I haven't wet the bed, Just had a bad night again. In bed and tucked down by 11.30 pm. Was awake again at 2.45 am. Went off again sometime around 4.00 am. Had to get out at 6.30 am so stayed up. Had two cups of tea allready. We be glad to see what the doctor is going to do about my knee. It was playing me up in the night again.

I was saying last night. That a favourite one as kids. Was "Down in the Jungle sttying in a tent, better than a prefab, NO RENT" There was another about a toilet, Hitler and his mates. They were war year jokes of there time.!!!
Will, you must remember some of them, HELP me out !!

Glad John has found out that ijt'd nothing serious, he must be chuffed yto know he's allright.

Talking of nites, We were covered in the during the war. Everyday we came home from school. Mum would put the "DAILY HERALD" (Paper) on the table, get out the comb, and go throught all five of us "LIKE A FINE TOOTH COMB"Sorry for the pun. As they fell on the paper she would "CRACK"them between her thumb nails. The last time we had a scare with them was when Conrad was a school and came "HOME" with them. We had the shop at the time, so Ros went off and bought a supply of shampoo, and presented a bottle to each of the staff We all wasked our hairs for two/three days and they were gone.

No more snow, but very heavy cloud, so don't know what to expect.

Mel I never thought to copy my posts !! What happens to them if you don't use them ????

Mandy, That's some toilet seat £35.00. especially from poundland. did she mean 35 pence. ????

Plenty of starlings around the food this morning, don't know where by blackbird is, perhaps he's having a lie in !!!

SEE YOU LATER>

Morning All and Evening Kim,

PANCAKE DAY TODAY FOLK

I have my lemons at the ready.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Feb 2013 09:52

I was thinking last night after going to the shoe shop. They used to have those little stalls with a slanted front when you went to try on shoes. You never see these now in shoe shops. I could have done with one of those as I am now finding it hard to bend over to put shoes on and it would have been such a help. The shop assistant would help you on with shoes too and that dos'nt happen nowadays.

What about the x-ray machine you popped your feet in as kids and you could see your bones in the shoes you were trying on. I seem to remember the light in the box being green?

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 12 Feb 2013 10:18

Morning everyone,Evening Kim,

Dull and dry here this morning but if it gets any darker i will have to put the light on !!

Who knows what Katie meant Frank, she's only three but she does say some funny things :-D some of it we have a job to understand as she chatters away :-D

Oh don't worry Mel, i know what men are like mines the same LOL

Well i have done a little today ,changed the bed and put the hover round ,and now i feel whacked , will make a coffee i think .

I've got lemons but i don't think we'll have pancakes today , does any one ever have any thing savoury with their pancakes ? or do you like them sweet ?

All this talk aboiut dickies and fleas.
I never had one in my life (lucky)
Then 6 months ago my wife adopted a poorly cat that had fleas big time.
We cured that problem for the cat with Fronline applied to the cats coat..
Now another hungry pussy is comming in every opportunity for a free meal.
It too has fleas.
How do you get these off brand new furniture and carpets :-|

Jane

Jane Report 12 Feb 2013 10:28

Mel do you mean stools with the sloping fronts(not stalls??) :-D.They were very comfortable and easy for slipping on shoes. You are right ,it is not easy squatting on the seats and having to reach right over to do up buckles or laces :-S
I just remember putting my feet in a foot shaped thing(bit like a metal roller skate and then the lady would push a metal bar down to the tip of the foot and measure across the top of the foot with a tape.
I only remember the machines with Hannah and James.I.m pretty sure the Clark* shop didn't have anything like that when I was little.

Have been for a bit of a stroll with Chester, fed the birds and am now going to get myself a coffee before cleaning out the grate.(I really hate this each morning).Mind you as soon as it gets warmer I won't be lighting the fire.

I have cheated Mel and bought ready made pancakes :-|.Naughty I know .I have lemons or,a fruit compote or Nutel**.

How is everyone feeling this morning?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Feb 2013 10:33

Frank when you copy and paste something it will stay on your mouse till you either turn the puter off or copy something else.

Hope Mandy is feeling better today.
