I have 4 sets of specs here (ridiculous).....My new ones,my cheap readers, my old prescription distance, and prescription readers.I just need to hide all ,except for these new ones :-S.Not easy as i keep wanting to ditch these varifocals...Perseverance !! :-D :-| :-D.It's just the computer which is a problem. I think I will turn this off now to give my eyes a rest.So night night x

Morning All and Evening Kim,
Jane I am the same once again. Sitting here at my desk with three pairs of glasses to the ready. The old varigocals and the two new pairs.
I have been wearing the second pair still but by last night my right eye really ached and my nose is a bit sore where they rest on it. They are much heavier than my old ones. When I had the old ones it was like not wearing any glasses as they are so light being only a slim metal frame. The trouble was with them if you put them down you could'nt find them unless you put them in the same place every time.
Ann are you getting used to yours?

The first time I went to Edinburgh I was still a child. Given the choice of Holyrood Palace or the steaming legends of Waverley station I went for the latter. Rewarded with a few minutes on the footplate of "Silver Fox" as it steamed gently waiting for the off. And afterwards tea and scones as can only be found in Auld Reekie.

Morning all/Evening Kim.
What a horrible day, rain, rain, and more rain.
Ros is just off to prepare the tables for the party.
Good news, Martine rang the Hospital to see how her OH was, and they put het through to the ward, the nurse put him on the line (difficult to balance) :-D :-D He was able to speak with her. Tubes coming out from everywhere , he didn't have a good night. She won't be allowed in today, so will go tomorrow. Ros will go over and sit with her later today. I rang her last night and offered the tank of petrol. She burst into tears, and accepted. When her car next needs filling Ros will go with her to pay. He is likely to be in for 10 days, so a lot of running up and down to Oxford.
Boy did I sleep well last night, All settled down by midnight and sleep till 8.00 am. Ros bought me tea at nine and I lain and listened to the radio till just after 10.00 am
Going to get shower and shaved, dressed and ready for the off, Ros is coming back for me as she doesn't want me walking down there with this knee ( I don't know if I can leave it behind though) :-D :-D :-D Would look silly on one leg.!!
Ann, Ros saw one of these DREME# drill kits on the Jewellery show last night, and said how wonderful they are for drilling beads, cutting, polishing etc. LIKE A GOOD BOY, I thought I would treat her. I bought one on Ebay, only for HER to SAY later. DON'T BUY ME ONE, WILL YOU ???? I don't know if I would use it. Bloo## women. I don't know what I am going to do with her, What's she worth in PART EXCHANGE ???

Rollo ,I remember the overnight train from Plymouth to Edinburgh. It was very exciting. Not sure my parents thought it was with two young children though lol.The mail carriage with all the sacks of mail.Am I right in thinking that mail would be hung out in a net sack and collected by the train somehow as it went through each station?
I'm just off to get a prescription of Steroids for Chris. He has a mild Bels Palsy :-S :-SI hope it doesn't get worse.

Thank you Frank for your kind words and yes OH is on antibiotics so fingers crossed they do the trick!! What a very kind gesture to help your friends, they are lucky to have you. My uncle had an anurism repaired way back, and although he was very 'pulled about' and took a bit of time to recover, he was fine so hopefully your friend will be the same. So far so good. I think when Ros sees what you have bought her she may well change her mind. I've been known to do that and actually been very pleased when 'whatever' appeared!!! Oh Jane I am sorry, what a pain! I'm sure that medication will keep this particular condition at bay. I remember coming home from a holiday in Cornwall on the train. I think it took 7 hours from Penzance to Didcot!! Just me (aged 8) and my mother. My S-Father met us and drove us home. The thing I remember most is the loo!!! and our picnic!!! The only sleeping train I've ever been on was the 'Waggon Lit 'from Ostend to Milan in 1962 with some friends which took, I think about three days maybe four. We put a car on the train to use for our time away, then did the journey in reverse to come home. Waggon Lit was discontinued years ago, replaced by much more modern rolling stock - but we had a lot of fun, happy days!! Cold here today and threatening MORE rain. Millie and I won't be going far!!

Afternoon Everyone
Wet and horrible day here
Went with OH into Glasgow this morning to Slaters which is a menswear shop, for a new jacket for his work, he must have caught his other jacket on something as there is a big tear in the inside lining ,I'm going to repair it, but he can use it for travelling and his new one for meetings,
The new shed is not getting a chance to dry out in this wet weather, the men advised yesterday to leave the door open for a few days, but with this wet weather the floor is very wet, so we have shut it,
OH not working in the garden this weekend apart from the weather he has no strength to do the clearing up, still hasn't got over his bout of food poisoning, and not back to normal eating, he says he will take my new trousers up instead,
Lunch time, ,I just fancy a poach egg on toast I think :-D

Afternoon everyone,
Raining on and off here today ,we managed to get to Norwich so the windows and door are now ordered , we didn't bother to look at the bits for the kitchen will do that another day, called into the garden centre and had a coffee and bought some fat balls and a coconut and new bird station to hang the feeders on ,hubby has to put it together now.
You ladies are having trouble getting use to your new glasses , i need some new ones really, but keep putting it off .
Frank, that was very kind offering to fill the car with petrol, a bit less for her to worry about ,now she can go and see him when ever without having to think can i afford the petrol , you would soon use a tank full going everyday for ten days !! Could you hide the drill and give it to her for her birthday.
Jane i had to google to see what Bels Palsy was , hope the Steroids help .
Hubby has the Grand Prix practise on the tele ,it's that good that it's sent him fast asleep !!

Jane: I suffer from Bells Palsy it is awful and you get scant sympathy ... "it'll wear off, can't hurt if half your face is paralysed etc etc ". The last serious attack was in Paris and I went to the clinic and got cortisone injections which worked thank goodness. Left me with a crease on my face which suggests I had been mixing it Saturday night on Sauchiehall Street.
Railways are the ultimate thrill for those into nostalgia. Long distance steam was thrilling. You are right about the mail car there was a sort of wump, wump as the bags were picked up. I liked everything about it, the hissing steam, the busy mainline terminii - relics of another era, the buffet ....
I still miss British Rail real bacon sandwiches fried on the spot with real strong tea.
Modern rail is not so exciting, in Europe anyway, but sure beats the heck out of Friday nights on the M6 :-)

I'm back from the party, hic hic. Ros has gone to see Martine, while I have forty winks, which I will do soon
I remember the old steam trains from Leytonstone to Southend, I couldn't travel on coaches as I was always sick. So mum would take me by train, I loved the smell of steam. I also used the trains a lot when in the RAF having to change in the middle of the night, when it reached the terminal, and having to wait for the next train.
Brightened up here now, and quite warm in the sunshine.
Time for a kip, see you later.

Fiona I think your shed door will be closed for a while by the look of the forecast :-S It has actually brightened up here a bit but it doesn't feel that warm,so the heating has just been turned up.I can't light the fire seeing we will be out this evening.I'm sure it would be ok as we have a very good guard but wouldn't dare leaving the house empty.I don't think Chester would be able to put out a spark lol
Chris's face isn't bad at all.His mouth looks a bit wonky and maybe his eye is just slighty off. He'll be lucky if it gets no worse.Rollo I'm sorry that you suffer from this. You obviously have had a severe one .I have a friend who woke one morning with the side of her face paralysed and she was convinced she had had a stroke. It was good that Chris new exactly what was happening. When he came up with my cup of tea about 8 he said his lips felt numb and that he wondered if it was the beginning of a Bells Palsy. He then tried to squeeze his eyes shut and he did one tighter than the other .So that was that diagnosed lol.The dog is on the same steroids so I told Chris to have them just to get them in quick .How handy was that!!
Good news for Martines OH then Frank. She must be so relieved that he has come through ok.
I can actually see some blue sky :-DI don't think it will be about for long though.
Thinking back to the trains. You used to be able to lower the windows.Idon't think you can do that any longer.
I need to do my nails as all the varnish is chipped and I can't go out like that tonight :-S BBL

Afternoon all. I have just been reading though some of the posts..You all seem to have interesting things to say..Have I missed something to do with Chris Jane..I have tried reading tho.. We have had rain on and off here as well,Have taken the dogs out for a short walk..Have bought one of those things that click onto their harness so I can walk both of them on one lead. A lot better for me.. Max really pulls so mocha has to keep up with him.. At the moment they are in their cages,,Have just washed the floor, Max is going in for the chop on Monday..They are getting very aggressive with each other over toys and food..I ended up getting bit the other day..Got my hand in the way while grabbing one of the collars.

Frank have you recovered now from your little nap?Are you cooking tonight?
I just have to change my clothes.I have made an effort and put some eye makeup on
:-DI must just remember not to rub them if my funny eye starts to water.I could end up looking like a Panda lol Hannah is finally here. She has been with her friends to a Bridal shop in Stamford. One of the girls is getting married in December and Hannah and 6 others are Bridesmaids. The 'Bride' found a dress.I nearly fell off my chair when Hannah told me how much it costs and this is just the dress £2,500 !!!!Sheesh :-0.I remember mine was £100 in 1981. I'm going all fuzzy eyed so need to get these specs off. It's just the bottom part of the lens which is trouble. Right we have to leave in 15 minutes so Tatty Bye .BBL
