Oh Heck Mel ,I'm not looking forward to getting my Varifocals.I feel dizzy already lol
I'll have a 30 day trial to make sure I'm happy with them and then choose a frame for sunglasses. If I'm not happy then I will have to go back to 2 pairs. One for close up and one for distance.

Hi William.I can imagine you will both be exhausted tonight with all the phone calls and sadness. It will be nice for you to just pop in and out of here to say Hi when you feel up to it.We are all here for you <3

I have just been down the garden to the compost and I didn't need a coat. The wind has disappeared and no more snow flurries :-D

Shirl that is brilliant that your bone scan was good.Lets hope Pats comes back the same. It's great that you and Frank can have a good old blether on Skype :-D :-D

Now I need to clear up the dishes from the first sitting(James) and start on the next lot .I hope Chris gets in at normal time tonight. He had to see 34 patients last night as someone had cocked up the Rota and he was the only one there. It was ridiculous.I think he was going to make it quite clear today that he was not amused.

Chicken curry tonight and I am just about to start it.

We had those icicles on the wood on the pond again today and all ice around the big pipe feeding the water back in the pond. I have'nt seen the ice on the pipe before.

O Jane poor Chris as thats an awful lot of people to see. He must have been shattered when he got in.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Mar 2013 19:02

Oh just made me laugh my socks off.

He said you want to do to your glasses what I have just done to mine. I sat on them and bent the frames and the glass fell out. I had to bend the frames back into shape and put the lenses back in and did the screws up and now they fit me better than they ever did.

Jane

Jane Report 12 Mar 2013 19:29

LOL Mel I have lost count of the number of times I have sat on my specs.Luckily never popped the lenses ,just bent the frame.
Yes Chris was knacker** last night and cross :-S.He says he thinks once he's gone they won't be able to organize a Pi** up in a Brewery .I think because Chris has always done things and never delegated properly they have relied on him a bit too much..So once he is no longer a Partner at the end of this month someone else will have to take over.Chris can't wait.I know I grumble about him ,but I think he has been a damn good GP and senior partner (and always taken on far too much).....because others let him.I think there will be a lot of patients in September, when he finally hangs up his stethoscope who will miss him.....Then I will have him 24/7 !!!!! (HELP)

Annx Report 12 Mar 2013 22:21

Evening All,

So sorry to hear your news William, what a sad time for you all. Some lives are cut short far too soon.

Jane, OH had trouble with a few of his managers' team managers where their previous bosses hadn't delegated and developed them and had tried to do everything themselves. Everyone lost out by it. Their managers burned themselves out by overloading themselves and lost sight of the bigger picture. Their staff lost out by not gaining extra experience and responsibility that would give them confidence in applying for promotion or other jobs. OH had to sort a few things out like that. He always believed in developing people by giving them opportunities for extra responsibilities and his part of the bargain was to give them the necessary coaching and support to do it, but then to let them get on with it themselves. By doing this he lost a lot of really good staff by promotion, and that left him gaping holes in his teams at times, but he believed it was fundamentally the right thing to do to help people to achieve their full potential.

I can see that when you are dealing with peoples' lives it is quite a responsibility and not always possible though!! No wonder he was shattered after seeing all those people, it must really take it out of you, not missing anything, but trying to keep people on track!

Mel, everyone was talking about bifocals, but it is varifocals you have! They will take a few days to get used to in my experience. The narrower, top to bottom, your lenses are, the harder they are to get used to as the 'change' in focus happens in a narrower band. I'm still getting used to my recent new ones as the reading focus seems to be narrower side to side than my last pair and I find I keep checking out the corners!! :-S I hope you get on ok with the tints that work in sunlight. I used to go out at lunchtime from work and when I came back inside I was as blind as a bat until the tints lightened back up again after a few minutes!! Not good when you were going upstairs.

Oh dear, the poor little Hamster Maureen! Still, it was good for him to learn that you have to be careful with delicate creatures as you say. Has he asked for another Hamster yet?

OH has car woes! They checked his heater over today......it could be £600 or possibly £1200!! OMG, you could buy another car for that!! He's thinking it over. :-S

Morning everyone,Evening Kim,

More snow over night ,but since the suns been up and out it's melted away .

Ann, what a price for the heater to be fixed !! i should think OH had to sit down when he was told ,doesn't seem that long ago when £600 would have bought a new car !!

Shirl, i hope your eye is feeling more comfortable this morning and you can see a little better , your very brave having those injections ,not some thing i would like having done.

Love to William and Carmel <3

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Quite sunny today but still cold out there and a bit of a wind too.

I am percevereing with my glasses and I won't be beaten but am still with the second pair as they do stay where I put them. I shall have to take the others back and see if they can bend the bits behind my ears more to hold them up.

Oh has taken his car in for it's MOT today. Hope everything is ok with it but we shall find out later............

Hello,

If you get a telephone call claiming that there is a problem/virus on your computer - ignore it. They are tricksters trying to get you to give them access to your PC.

They seem to come from boilerhouses in India using Skype, but manage to generate a random London phone number on your caller display. There is often lots of laughing and chatting in the background.

It is a complete scam - ask them what is the IP address of the PC affected and they will usually swear and hang up!

Never, never reply to a telephone call or email on your PC. Delete it and log into the account directly via their secure web site only - to see if there is a genuine problem.

Type dubious telephone numbers into Google and you will find several websites where people record the numbers after receiving dodgy phone calls.

Hi Corringham-depot,

We get those telephone calls at least once a month. I usualy tell them to #### off. But one time I said "OH thanks for calling I am having trouble" in the background I heard the girl say "I've got one here" Little did she kinow it was a wind up.
Thanks for taking the trouble to inform us anyway.

Ann I would expect that it might mean replacing the whole Air Con. unit. Thats the price you pay for summer comfort. It might be worth finding out if it is. Then you can decide if you can do without it. You can always open the windows :-D :-D

It looks a beautiful morning out there, I haven't ventured out yet. Ros want to go and finish off the front borders,

While out yesterday, she bought a dozen tomato plants and some other border plants. i.e. marrigolds (WHITE) and others. It will be my job to pot them on. I will keep them in the conservatory till they get established, then they can do into the greenhouse.

Somehow, I must try to get my "allotment" area dug over, ready for planting out the veg. in the next few weeks. I will try to do a couple of rows at a time over the next week or so. When you think I had a 10 pole allotment a few years ago , and now have a job to dig 10/15 foot. !!!

We must be getting old. I have varifocal glass's also. And there we are thinking they are BI-FOCAL. (MY BRAIN HURTS) :-D :-D :-D

Poor old Chris. I bet he will be glad to get out of that situation at the end of the month. I know up our doctors, they always seem to be worked off their feet. No wonder mistakes happen !!

I see you are managing to get out for your coffee with friends Fiona. GOOD ON YOU. How are things going now ???

I have sat on my glass's in the past but unfortunately, mine always seem to have broken. I now try to make sure I don't put them on the bed. before I sit down.

That meal last night was a disaster. Ros tasted it and threw it in the bin. I must admit, if I had'nt been hungry mine would have followed. There was no taste to it, even thought I had seasoned everything, and cooked the Rosti in butter and oil.

Have been summond to the garden, so will see you later.

Trust you and Carmel are O.K. Will. <3 <3 <3

Thanks Mike. Will definitely have a look at the Dubious Numbers site.

Where's Frank? I need my oven cleaning :-D :-D :-D.I understand he is a dab hand at the job ;-).My Dad always cleaned the Oven.I think I might suggest to Chris that he could take up that job when he has all this spare time on his hands :-D :-D

Annx Report 13 Mar 2013 11:31

Morning All,

Oh sorry Jane, it was your Finn!! lol.....I'm losing the plot! :-S OH said it will cost £600 if it's just what they think it is, but something else may have gone as well and that could cost £600 also. They will show him all the parts and what has gone on them if they have to replace them. They always do things as cheaply as they can for him. I have decided that now cars don't need servicing so often these days they are making their money up on all the repairs on the fancy dan things they put on. This car has climate control, individual each side and is quite complicated with several motors. Trouble is you can't buy bog standard any more. :-S

Yes, Mel, you need your specs tightening or they will be falling in the flower beds when you get out there soon.

Fiona, I found bifocals were also a pain but that varifocals were much better once you were used to them........still not good when you paint a ceiling though as you could do with them on upside down then!! lol. :-S Hope you have our sunshine for your day out and about.

I have been cleaning!! Had the bed out yesterday.......oh the muck!! Then I discovered that the bag had come off on the big hoover so we had to take it outside to use the little dy*on to clean it all :-0 :-0 This morning I did the hall and the bathroom......that's enough of that for today!! My heel seems a lot better thank goodness, I must have jarred it quite sharply. I want it right for the NEC next week.

Jumping in the shower now.......BBL.

Jane Report 13 Mar 2013 12:09

FRANK! It must have been those extra bits in the Rosti that Ros didn't like :-D :-D.Did you let on????
Chris planted his Broad Beans the other day.We have Garlic growing too.Our last lot was the best we have ever grown.I am waiting for my favourites later in the year.(runners)

I didn't think I needed to go out today ,but I don't have any Charlotte Potatoes :-S

Annx

Annx Report 13 Mar 2013 13:46

Thanks for that Mike, we all need to keep on our toes these days.......too many unscrupulous folk that want our hard earned cash.

Frank he spent £500 last year on the AIRCON, so that is working fine now......in fact his side of the car heating and cooling works perfectly.......this is just the heater not blowing any heat out of my side of the car, just freezing cold air comes out!! You should see my goose bumps!! lol.Something to do with motors and mixing flaps not working as they should. The trouble is they have to remove the dashboard to get to it. I've told him we should get a Ki* next time......with a 7 year warranty!!! :-)

Well I've just started to try and set up OH's laptop, but think I need a trip out to let my brain cool off. Do any of you have Windows 8? What a nightmare it is, makes Vista seem easy peasy. There is not even a start button or any tool bars. :-S I have had to go on the internet to find out how to close it down!! OH is at Melton Mowbray this morning.......when he sees how it is he's not going to like it at all !! There will be chuntering, I just know it !!l ol.

Yes, it will be good to get outside in the sun Frank. I seem to be slower doing HW and the garden now!! To think I looked after a garden 4 times as big as this when I lived on my own for a few years and worked full time!! At least we have smaller places and gardens that are more manageable now. Our first job is to put the new arbour together. I think we may have lost a few of the new plants........not as hardy as it said on the tin!!

I find myself talking fast at the doctors, always conscious of my few allocated minutes ticking away!! Most of ours still type with just 2 fingers and that must take more time than handwriting did.

Been busy. Hoovered asll through and cleaned the bathroom. Cleaned out Hogwart who knows it is getting into spring and has a big party every night.

Done some washing and went to put it out and the sky looked almost purple. Said to oh I don't like the look of thatand came indoors and then it started.......a blizzard which lasted about ten mins. and now the sun is shining again.

Am sitting here having a cuppa.

Oh has cut up the big ash tree this afternoon and now has it in about 4' lengths outside his workshop. He has found a crack running through most of the trunk and has cut one piece in half lengthways.
