Ros is just going to visit Harvey, He's in Luton and Dunstable Hospital, She will pick DIL up on the way. I'm not going, as it's two only around the bed. I think Lewis might be going also, but he does have football training tonight and can go with his friend Harry. His Mum can pick him up from there. But no doubt he will want to see his dad. and the operation.!!!! Won't know if it is keyhole till Ros gets home.
This computer has been an absolute whatsit this afternoon. I told Ros she had put a curse on it. As I complained about her buying a new one. I will get Conrad to put this one on Ebay. It's a COMPA# PRESARI# V4000 It will be a good computer for someone. I think this has got too much in it, that's what is making it slow.
Hope things go well tomorrow Liz, You could still be gone before your "FRIENDS" return.
Going to have a quick tea tonight. Ros will get something while she's out, or I will get her something when she returns.

Sheila I bet you were mortified when the Dr saw those socks lol.Mind you they see all sorts of things. Naughty Donnie getting chucked out from the tv studio.I'm not surprised Beryl was getting some looks lolol
Jack Flash,Flash Harry.Would I call you Flasher???? I was flashed once by an old chap who knocked on the glass front door with it!!!!!!! And when I was driving on the Motorway a few years ago on my own a passenger in a white van mooned at me by sticking his bare backside up against the window .Sheesh I've seen it all lol
I hope Harvey has had his op now and will soon be back home.I don't know how long they keep them in these days for that op.Just a few I would think.
Liz,fingers crossed for you tomorrow with your new 'viewers'
I just realised I should have had my slow cooker on high for an hour to start and then turn down to low.But I have had it on low all the time.I suppose that means it will need extra time.Good job Chris isn't in 'till late !

Hi Jane just back from the doctors have to take more Metaformin my sugar was high Nothing wrong happened I dressed myself up.
One day I was walking in the park and a man came from behind a tree showing everything I think he had been for a wee.I ran really fast acrooss our road back home and he came in the shop.i was mortified and he asked for a box of matches and a coke it was funny really.Never been flashed at though Jane. Once in my car a man pulled up at the lights years ago and was blowing kisses at me. Not bad looking and I stalled my car. I was much younger. Now I just get dirty looks.

Thanks for the recipes folks, both of which are very interesting. Must say that I have never made cakes in a jar before and the ice crean sounds great. David Hubby says that I am getting my tilly lamps and davy lamps confused. Sorry if I have mislead anyone. We do have a tilley lamp but FIL was given a davy lamp for his work at Selby whoops. Back to my tree now

Thought we were all Valderma or Wright's Coal Tar Soap on here?
Have you seen the price of cigarettes? Cost a heart or a lung.
They were £3.72 when I quit the habit in 1996

Who was taking about sowing lemon pips, was it mandy??
Pop them in a 3 and a half inch flower pot and water well and leave them on the kitchen windowsill. They take about 3 or 4 weeks to come up, sometimes longer. I have some on my windowsill in the kitchen that have been there for about 4 years!! I really must pot them up. They like acid soil so Ericasous (sp) compost for them.

Evening All,
Yes, you had me puzzled for a mo, Anne........I remember seeing my grandad's Davy lamp he took down the mine and being fascinated as a little girl that before they had them they took caged canaries down the mines.
We had a Tilley lamp we took on holiday years ago when we had a trailer tent. It was a right game lighting the thing as it would be engulfed with flames if you weren't careful when lighting it and pumping the pressure up so we used to do it well away from the trailer. Once it was lit it was fine and gave a really good light. We also used it during power cuts.
All this FLASH talk! lol Well, no-one else has a FLASH GORDON!!!! lol
I like the look of some of the banana recipes, never thought of icecream.....thank you Mandy.

You've plenty to chew on JANE. LOL LOL
When I was a boy, we could buy ciggys in paper box's of five's from the Co-Op kiosk on the way to school, can't remember the price, but they were either Weights or Woodbines. Then as we grew up there were Passing cloud, De'maurere. Capstan, Senior Service etc. then came the tip brigade in the late 50s Strand Man, that was a name given to me by a neighbiur because I had a very light coloured raidcoat. !!! Before most of you can remember no doubt.
Ros just rang. Harvey is back from his op, but veryy tired. Lewis sobbed his heart out seeing his dad like that. Poor little B
I used to play with a Tilley lamp in my Dads shed. You had a clip type thing that was dipped in Meths and lit to heat the parafin vapour. then you could pump away and the mantle would light. If it didn't go too well you had a pricker that you poked into the jet. It's a wonder I didn't set light to the shed.
What was purfumed soap ??? We had a big block of household soap and you would cut pieces off as you need it. Hair was washed in it also. In the bath on Saturday night,Mum would put in a couple of handfulls of washing soda, Helped keep the grease down. The eldest went in first then the two girls, then me and my brother. I don't know when mum and dad had theirs perhaps after we had gone to bed !!!!
Just going to see the last of Liverpool's game. see you in the morning

I did laugh Mandy. No way would I let them see I was shocked!!.That 's what they expect. I love the smell of ink.I remember filling my fountain pen from the bottle of Quink.Squeezing it up and squirting it back then squeezing it up again. Then it all changed to cartridges.I seem to remember having a pack of 5 Parker cartridges. Blotting Paper on the kitchen windowsill with the cress.I think I did the same with Hannah and James.Do they still do that today I wonder or is it too old fashioned!!! What was the Bean we used to grow at school? A reddish colour .was it a runner?

We couldn't find that brass bit you clipped on when we sold our Tilley Frank.....I'd forgotten about it till you said.
We went for a sunny walk along the Ashby Canal near Shackerstone today. The barge people were busy, one man was painting away, another tinkering with an engine. We saw a little water vole......I haven't seen one for years. Then we walked through the village to the local and OH had a pint of Guine*s as it is St Patrick's day! We looked around the church opposite and I took some pics of the gargoyles.
On the way back, we passed a sign to Gopsall Park and OH said he remembered there just being gates left when he was a little boy as the big house had been demolished. We decided to follow the sign and ended up on a rutted farmtrack and a footpath sign across the fields to 'The Temple ruins' which he hadn't heard of before. We decided to go and see what was there and crossed a field and went through a wood and some rhododendrons, then came across the remains of the temple, just a few pillars and a bit of stone with lots of the stones to it strewn around and covered in moss. The information board was quite interesting. It said the big house was huge and had an underground reservoir which it said is still there, two lakes and a Chinese Boathouse, gone now and just fields.
We set off home and after a few miles came across an old post set in the grass verge at the side of a lane in the middle of nowhere. Curiosity got the better of us as there was a board next to it so we went back to look. It was the Bilstone Gibbet Post. A man beat his wife and daughter and kicked them into a stream, his wife died of her injuries but the daughter lived and testified against him. He was hanged in Leicester and then his body was chained onto this gibbet post. It said his skeleton was still there 17 years later in 1818!!!! Imagine the smell, maggots and flies while it rotted away.....yuk!! You wouldn't want to pass that on your way to work each day.
Weary me is off to bed now, so night night and sleep tight everyone.....xx 21.44
