Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Mar 2011 15:49

Of course I only intend to shot rabbits and maybe rats if I see any. No we don't eat the bunnies. I usually give them to my cleaner who feeds them to her two jack russells. I don't have to do anything tothem as Di does all the skining and cleaning out.

Sheila nice to have a friend drop by for a chat.

Ann gun will be in a safe place whilst not in use I can assure you. Don't forget OH was a gamekeeper whilst in the fire brigade he had his own shoot. He has done the gun and now it's my turn to have a go at the target. You should see his shots. He has made a hole in the board about 1 and a half inches by an inch where he was changing the sights and getting them right. It took him quite a while to do it but he had a go on the bottom target when he finished and all the shots are in the black middle.

Yes some of the daffs are just coming out but already this snow and wind is knocking them over, the snow we had this morning has almost gone, I think were just on the edge of it, Aberdeen & higher up are getting it I think, But its still very cold yet. , heating is on but I'm here in my front bedroom which I use to keep all my family history books etc in and though the radiators are on I am still putting my fan heater on and off as I sit here.

daughter no 2 and boyfriend due for dinner soon. daughter is at work today finishes about 4 so shouldn't be too long.

My next door neighbour (not the present one),used to shoot and had a gun cabinet. One day he came to me and pushed a bunch of keys into my hand and asked me to look after them as he was worried he was going to kill himself !.I knew he was depressed but not that desperate.Poor chap.A few weeks later he took a near fatal overdose and ended up in hospital for several months. He girlfriend hammered on my door screaming she couldn't wake him,and I found him in a coma on his bed with a suicide note.
Thankfully he is now fit and well and it is great to see him enjoying life again with all his grandchildren.
Well that was cheerful wasn't it lol.

Sheila was your friend the one from Stratford?I remember you went to stay with her for a while and had a lovely relaxing time .I'm sorry poor Michelle is feeling so bad about Moshen still. He did behave very badly though didn't he.

It seems quite dark here now.It must be all the cloud.

Anne I hope you enjoy the Ballet tonight.I bet the first thing you do when you come out will be to turn your phone on to see if there are any messages lol

I think I might have a glass of wine.I just fancy one now.

Fiona ,our Daffs are looking just about ready to open.Maybe a couple of days or so.I can't wait to pick some.I always have to make sure I give them a good shake as they have lots of those little black bug things, and they give me the willies.

Annx Report 12 Mar 2011 18:32

I think I'll have to go and pick some daffs Jane and some catkins to cheer me up. I seem to be a right misery today. OH is at Staleybridge until about 9.00pm. I think I shall go and treat myself to fish and chips. lol Naughty but nice and save getting anything!!

What Ballet is it you are going to see Anne?

I could murder Fish and Chips right now Ann.I'm sure that will cheer you up a bit .We have naughty food too.Sausages ,eggs, chips ,and beans.Lovely!

I'm just watching the dreadful pictures on the news from Japan. It is just unimaginable what it must be like there.9,500 people missing from just one town .I can see the numbers being higher than the Boxing day Tsunami.

Just off to take Hannah to some friends. She has been busy on the internet today looking up all info and help .

Ellen's knees have been paining her for some time and we some times fall in arrears with house work misc.

I don't mind shopping or going to the launderette etc but I am not so much inclined to house work (admitted).

I'm wondering, would I be doing Ellen a dis-service if I hired a cleaner say twice a week? How much do they charge? Where do you find one?

Jane

Jane Report 12 Mar 2011 20:51

David I think Ellen might be very relieved to have someone to help with the cleaning. As for finding someone ,you may find adverts in local shops or paper.Or if you went on line and looked up local servicesI am sure you would find something there. The other thing is if you know anyone who has a cleaner to ask if they are good and get a number.
Once a week would probably be enough. They won't be cheap. But will certainly make life a little easier for you both.I will ask Fitz tomorrow what his Mum pays for her cleaner.

Annx

Annx Report 12 Mar 2011 20:55

I'm sure Ellen would be delighted, David. I remember how difficult it was to do some jobs when my knees were bad. One of our neighbours has a cleaning firm in occasionally. There are usually 2 of them and they take less than an hour. I don't know what they charge, but I imagine they would need to give you a quote as it will vary from house to house based on the time it takes. They will usually do just what you want. I must say I like the idea of someone giving the kitchen and bathroom a good going over every now and then!!

Just google house cleaning service, Newcastle and quite a few come up.

This one gives some idea of prices.

Hi Jane did you get your top. I fancied fish and chips tonight on passing the shop but remembered my heart woe is me.

How lovely Anne a ballet.

Yes Jane Annie from Stratford.
Poor Ellen David having painful knees it is difficult to do housework if you cannot get round. Cleaners can be expensive depending who you get really a couple of days maybe not very expensive best to shop around.
I got a cleaner last last year 5 per hour I could only afford her a couple of hours but she helped a lot.

Annx I loved catkins had forgot about them. When a child the teacher would give us catkins to take home .The teacher would bring flowers for the classroom each week.

Mohsens forgot my daughter he never phones or anything. Michelle is tempted to go out to Tunisia then changes her mind.

Man u won the football that cheeered me up going to bed now with my book nite everyone.

Jane Report 12 Mar 2011 21:34

I remember tapping the Catkins and watching the pollen fall out leaving a dusting of yellow powder.Oh Pussy Willows ! so soft and silky .lovely to rub on the end of your nose lol

Yes Sheila I did get a top.I hummed and haad(sp) for a while but bought it in the end.
Chris has gone to bed with a sore back which he seems to have had for a few days .In the morning I will slap a heat patch on him whether he likes it or not.I may need to shave some hair off his back first to make sure it sticks lol.Not sure if he will be up for that though. But I do think the patch will help.I think they are brilliant.
I will wait half an hour to make sure he is asleep before I go up as I will be putting my light on to read.

Did you have your Fish and Chips Ann?

I'm still up, but soon off to bed.

Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed my F & C Jane. Mandy's will be even better at the seaside tomorrow.......have you ordered your crab Frank?

I'd forgotten the pussy willows, lovely and soft. As you say Sheila, we used to have catkins at school.......and remember the 'sticky buds', horse chestnut you couldn't resist touching. We always seemed to have those at school too in a jam jar.

Frank, I'm sure your roast tomorrow will be great, glad you enjoyed your pint while you watched the footie. OH has already gone to bed, he's not so used to the long journeys these days and is weary.

Jane I haven't tried those patches, they sound good. OH would need shaving too!! lol Is it like waxing when you rip them off......OH would be like a baby!! lol

Well it's beddy byes time for me, thinking about those poor people in Japan. Still a fear of aftershocks too as if they haven't had enough. I wonder what it looks like under the sea where it happened.......wouldn't want to go and see though!!

H Frank
I'm almost still up, but will be off to bed in about half an hours time,

JANE I still have several heat packs, I think they are good to, mind you they played havoc with my hot flushes, I don't use them as much as I used to now I have been exercising, If my back is playing up I tend go and do a few back streaches and that eases the pain. but I still keep the patches just incase , good for warmimg you up if you get chilled to.

I remember when we used to have to take dad up to hospital when he had his stomach acid attacks , he had a really hairy chest and they would put on those wires with sticky patches checking his heart I think, OH!!!!! he would raise the roof, won't tell you the words he used, but I was mortified because the Doctors would just try & pull the sticky patches off all in one go off his chest. YELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I'm going to lock up now, hope theres no snow tomorrow, Keeping fingers crossed
Night night

Morning All,

Hope you have missed the snow Fiona. It is bright and sunny here again but had rained in the night though.

Well I had a go with the gun and hit the target right in the middle. OH was quite impressed I think. So going up to corn the chickens yesterday afternoon about 4.30 I took it with me. Peeping through the arch into the veg garden, lo and behold the sweetest tiny baby rabbit just sitting on the grass path looking at me. No way could I have shot such a pretty little thing and I moved a little to the left of the arch and WHOOSH it turned tail and ran for its life!! I came back down the garden and had another shot at the targets. Still a winner.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Mar 2011 08:52

Our next door neighbour, if you can call them that as they are up the front by the road, has a huge pussy willow tree in her front garden. For years I have tried to put some in our garden in the bank out of the way but they never seem to take. Margaret got her tree from the flowers in the church where the willow had been used in church flowers and had rooted in the vase!!

Our magnolia stellata on the south wall is just beginging to open its buds but I have lost my lantern bush over the winter and it is right against the wall too. We have quite a few daffs out and I picked 30 the other day. A lot of them are laying down on the grass in bud and I don't know if its the rabbits knocking them over or the wind but they are behind the box hedge and pretty sheltered from winds. Also the bottom of the stalks are almost yellow instead of green.

Morning All

Just finished the latest ironing pile and had tele on at same time. I feel so helpless in the face of the tragedy in Japan. The film of the tsunami just seems to get more and more horrendous and my heart goes out to these people. Hubby busy trying to organise a shelter box from our Rotary club to be sent out a.s.a.p.
We did enjoy the ballet last night. It was Matthew Bourne's Cinderella and, yes, we did switch the phone on as soon as we could ( including the intervals) but all quiet on the baby front. I have actually taken some clothes out of the case this morning so maybe I am tempting fate.

Jane Please tell me more about those heat patches. I do use a heat pad which goes into the microwave but have never had patches.

Sheila Did I ask to see your tree? I cannot find that message help!
Love catkins and pussy willow but not out here yet. Our flowering currant is almost out as are the daffs and winter jasmin, everything else is still asleep.

David Do get Ellen a cleaner. No sensible woman would refuse. I miss my Jenny dreadfully but she had to go when I retired.
We have a local specialist rescue team and they have just been on the tele setting off for japan.
