Who are you calling Long John????I have been busy like a good little housewife doing housewifey things lol
No lunches out this week Fitz is in Venice .My favourite place, and I am so green with envy.He will tell me all about his adventures next week.

Yes we will all turn up en mass for Mel s caravan lol.She definitely is the lucky one with the weather at the moment.I can see the fog coming in again.
The number of people AGAIN with no lights on driving. It is unbelievable .It's one of my bugbears .
Must pop the oven on now .BBL

Well, I still have all my own teeth Frank, if you count crowns as being your own, so I need to look after them now,

We've had some nice weather this way too, sorry, don't have a caravan, got a spare room though .....lol

I let Alfie out into the garden when I'm around to watch him, he's not silly, he will only go out if the sun's shining. Haven't done much in the garden yet but have started all the annual seeds off indoors, there's propagators on all availabe window ledges.

Jane

Jane Report 16 Mar 2011 18:14

Maureen ,I bet Alfie loves to have a mooch round in the garden.Does he chatter at the birds? My old cat Solo used to sit on the windowsill and make the funniest noises when she could see them lol

I forgot to say the other day when I was in Sainsb**** the other day ,a lady tapped my arm and asked me if I spoke English !!!.She was English and had just asked someone to read some instructions for her on a pack of veg. They were foreign and although they told her what the instructions said she wanted to make sure it was right lol.....I have never been asked if I speak English before (well not in this country ).It did make me chuckle

I meant to ask on here with so many using slow cookers, has anyone tried one of those halogen cookers? They cook things saving about 40% of the time I think and still brown the food. I was wondering whether to get one but don't want something else to languish in the cupboards unused and taking up space.

I can just imagine Alfie sniffing his way around the garden Maureen and basking in the sun. Does he still pounce on Coco or does he know better now? I have planted some lettuce seeds and peas, but no flowers yet. May put some sweet peas in , but a different sort than those we had last year......non starters weren't they!! lol

I wish dental treatment was free as you got older as that's when your teeth start costing more, just as your income gets less.

On the new houses to be built front, I don't know if it's true but someone OH spoke to the other day says that builders are submitting house building plans all over the place including for land they don't own. They said if they can get the plans passed, they then approach the owner of the land to try and buy it!!

I don't know what a Halogen cooker is Ann.Is it a bit like a microwave?I have a Halogen ring on my hob lol

How can people submit plans for housing if they don't have the land?I thought they would have to buy the land first .I don't know how these things work Ann.I just know it has all gone a bit quiet here on the building front.I even heard a rumour that the company that has bought up lots of land have gone bust.Whether that is true or not I don't know. The longer they don't build I am happy with lol.Can you imagine going down the Lane to Fitz and it all be surrounded by housing ??????.I don't like to think about that.

Forgot to say that I have only tried a Halogen cooker in a cottage we hired a couple of years ago and it seemed fine. Only trouble being that you have to have special pans.
Forgot to say that the laundry ball I bought in January is still working well

Evening everyone ,

What a dark, cold and foggy day its been here .

Had the family here all day ,its nice to put my feet up ,the little ones certainly keep me on my toes !!

Did pancakes for tea , we never had them on pancake day as we wern't well ,Jake found the pips in the lemon , so now we have to plant them to see if we can grow a lemon tree !!!!!

Still no baby i see ,maybe tomorrow then !!

Liz, sorry to hear its all fallen through with the house ,have you ever had problems with flooding then ?

I don't understand how anyone can get planning permission on land they don't own !!! even if they build these houses who will be able to buy them ,with people losing jobs ,no one can afford to buy anymore .
We have had two or three sites in the town were they were allowed to build but some of them had to be for social housing , and some were on a rent and buy scheme.

I think that is a halogen top cooker Anne. These are small like a pressure cooker but with a glass bowl and work off the electric (not microwave) and have halogen bulbs in I think?? I googled them and they cook quickly because they don't have a big oven to heat up. The lids are supposed to be quite heavy though from what I can see.

The planning permission application we looked at at the council showed the owner of the land as someone different to the builder Mandy. I agree that they may have a job selling them at the moment. Some of those on the development on the main road were like you mention, a sort of assisted purchase scheme. We have been told the 80+ chap from a bungalow on the main road and whose long garden will have dozens of the houses backing onto his may move now. If he does, he may well sell the bottom of the garden to the builder who built ours and has tried before to buy his garden!! He will then open the bottom of our close (which he retained ownership of) to build another 2 properties, possibly houses which will make it even worse as they would be even nearer. OMG talk about knock on effects.

Some of the simple foods are the nicest......I bet we all made a shepherd's pie at school.......I think I ate some of mine before I got home. lol Well, it would have spilled if I hadn't.

Keep forgetting to put the time............Frank will give me detention!!!!!

We're lucky really that we back onto the church yard and the church so we can never have buildings over looking us ,we do have the old peoples complex beside us ,but they are quiet we get no noise from them, only from fire engine that comes some times twice a week !!! its something to do with their fire alarm ,i think if one of their alarms goes off ,maybe if their doing their toast or something ,the fire engine comes out as its linked straight through to the fire station .

Just had a mug of Horli*ks ,and now off to bed ,so will say Night Night xx

Mandy ,you have me thinking now about shampoo when I was a child.I can't think what it was.It could have been John****.,but I also seem to think it might have been a bit of Fairy Liq** sometimes.I will ask my sister and see if she can remember.I just remember that Halo thing that was put on my head to stop the water from going in my eyes.It was so tight it left a ridge on the forehead lol.
I used the same thing when Hannah was little.Twisting hair into the shape of horns and twirly bits when it was all shampooed up just to make hair washing fun.

You have been busy chatting wihle I have been busy on the border. It has been such a beautiful day today, warm and plenty on sunshine. Two lots of washing dried on the line and I lost the bantams over the hedge into the field next to us. I had to go out the back gate and clamber through the brambles and get into the ditch to chase them along. Then OH told me they went over when he went up there with the mower!! Thanks very much!!!!

Poor people in Japan have now got snow and freezing conditions. It seem just one thing after another for them.

OH gone ringing tonight and will have his dinner when he comes in. I did pasta with mushrooms bacon and tomato in a lovely cheese sauce. If he dos'nt have it tonight he will have it for lunch tomorrow.

Oh and yes sachets of Dream Shampoo. A golden liquid in a very fat cushion. Also super soft came in a flat sachet and I think it was only about 3d a sachet as we used to buy them to wash the horses manes and tails. They shone like anything after we had finished.
