You got here Mel ,just like me lol.I get that message all the time but just press the back button and it always posts :-D.Has GR given any explanation yet as to why this keeps happening?????.I haven't seen one :-S :-S
I hope this forthcoming bad weather has gone by the weekend after this one as Chris and I are going to London to see a play at the National Theatre and staying overnight in a Hotel.I think we have booked a room that looks out over the Thames so am hoping for a great view :-D I was just thinking how easy it is these days just to go away for a night.Book on line for Hotels and Trains, and it is done in minutes. All done from the comfort of your home. I used to go to Thomas Co** to book our holidays and would spend so long there going through brochures and then the person ringing Hotels and airlines to get everything booked. How things have changed in just a few years !!!
I'll say night night now as I'm watching Killers behind Bars. It's interesting.I will be back tomorrow after taking Chester to the Vets :-(

Long before we lost the run of ourselves with our luxury apartments and fancy duplexes, living in a bed-sit was a right of passage for every student and civil servant worth their salt.
Some of them were dingy to the point that your best friend was the rising damp; hot water often came in the form of a steel unit over the sink and heat came from sitting in the broken armchair wrapped in your sleeping bag.
And while those of us who came through the bed-sit era unscathed may look back with nostalgia on the days of our youth, the reality is that there are many people who now would not be able to afford a place to rent.

Jane I too feel strongly about feeding the elderly in hospital and will have a look into volunteering for that, Meals on Wheels is another one to investigate, but I'm not sure what the story is about that these days - have to see! L rang this morning and they are coming to lunch on Easter Sunday which will be brilliant - I have managed to get 3 suitable Easter Eggs, a car egg for Ed, a pink basket of eggs for Alice and a rabbit for Polly, so they should be pleased with that. Polly's b day next Wednesday, she will be 13!!! Hope Chris is feeling a bit better today Jane, and let's hope that he is quite better for your trip away. Does the hour go forward this w/end? or is it next? We can spend nice light evenings watching the snow!!!!! Millie back to her old self this morning, and taking her meds/eye drops without too much problem. - we have to take her back on Sat for a check up, I'm nor sure what her reaction willl be!!

Just had a call to say I can get Chester !I thought he was in for most of the day.He won't need any meds for Blood Pressure. At least that's good.I have managed to do a bit of hoovering(all the important bits anyway) :-D
Merl your poor girls will be staying in today then!.Their runs never get a chance to dry out do they :-S :-S
Dermot ,You made me remember one place I shared with 3 Veterinary Nurses back in about 1973.Boy oh Boy it was so damp.I could write my name on my bedroom wall with my finger as the plaster was so wet.All my clothes ,shoes had mold from being in the wardrobe. It was a terraced house and as far as I can recall just had a 3 bar fire in the lounge. We would all huddle around that with our breath all a vapour. :-S.It really was an awful place.
Must dash now .There is a little four legged boy waiting for me.BBL

MORNINGT ALL/EVENING KIM.
Oh what a night I had, fights with yobs, trying to find somewhere to sleep in a fifteen floor Tenament building. They had ruined everything, even ripped the iron railings off the staircase. From what Ros said, I had a right to do. Kicking all the cloths off the bed.
I was then a linesman at a football match. The line ran out, and I was running down a motorway. No I didn't have cheese last night. Feel like I have been to hell and back this morning.
Have a nice day Ann at the NEC Don't spent too much, you won't know where to put it all. If you are anything like Ros, she has a CASE with lots of draws that are full of everything to do with her Jewellery making. She has to be in the mood to get it all out and make things.
Thats right Jane/Liz, look after the old 'uns. You can come and pamper me if you like lol lol. and lets face it. We will all get there some day, some sooner than others !!
Hope Chester gets on allright today Jane. Did you get his "SAMPLE" O.K. this morning. The things you have to do for our pets <3 <3 <3
Glad that Chris is able to eat, even though it takes a long time. Will he be o.k. going to London for the weekend ???
Talking about BUTTER. During the war it was EITHER B & B or Bread and JAM. never both on the same slice. and of course then it was only uncut farmhouse type loaves, and we all argued over the "NOBBY"
Nice to see Dermot back, I never went through the "FLAT" stage in life. only Secondary Modern School, which I hated, and spent quite a bit of time playing truent, plus I never got on with the head master from day one, but there had been two brothers before me, so he knew what to expect. !!!! I left school on my fiftheenth birthday and started work five days later. for ELEVEN PENCE AND A FARTHING per hour, I walked THREE miles to the station each morning and the same back at night, what an introduction to working life. !!!
Mel, I could see you were going to get a bit of bad weather, but not as much as you have had. Get Mr. Mel, to build an ARK. You might need it.
Dull overcast and windy morning here. So won't be doing any gardening. Who knows it might be o.k. next week.
Got it right ENGLAND Play San Marino tonight. I was onlt a few days out.
Hope David is progressing from his operation, GET WELL SOON. We are thinking of you.
Who if anyone have I missed today. I try to go through the postings and reply to all, but often there are so many, I can't keep up. :-D :-D :-D
See you later.

Six hiccups for Mel and three for Robert? What the heck are Genes up to?? Now I'm wondering how many times this will repeat. It's the reason I don't eat radishes, they repeat on me!
Been over to see our daughter today re next weeks funeral arrangements in Skegness. The hiighlight though was that Baby Grace was there. The bit of snow we had overnight has gone but that wind - wow, so fierce and cold. :-S
Jane, I'm with you over the hospital feeding thing, I also feel strongly about it, seen it too many times. When Carmel was in hospital in the National in London, the poor lady (Muriel) next to her couldn't sit up at all. Mealtimes, the trolley was taken to the far end of the ward ( 4 bays). Carmel's bay was the first, they would bring the meals there first and work their way back. That meant that by the time it was all dished out, Muriel's food was stone cold. I went up and complained to the staff, they replied they had to get all the meals out before they could feed her. I just replied, "well, why don't you dish her's up last THEN take it back and feed her?". Rocket science? I don't think so!

William I know just what you mean about the dishing out of he meals. When my Mum was in hospital she was on a 'soft diet'.Label on the head of the bead stating quite clearly. But by the time the trolley got to Mums bay all soft diets had gone and she was offered a sandwhich !!!!!!! .I too said why couldn't they start at the other end of the ward(I can't remember the reason).Any way I made it quite clear that it was so wrong. Then the ladies either side of Mum couldn't feed themselves(nor could Mum).so my Sister and I fed the three of them as there was just no-one around or available to do it :-| :-| :-|.So if we hadn't done it they would have ended up with cold congealed muck by the time someone did turn up.No wonder patients are starving :-S
Any way don't get me started lol
I hope the weather improves in time for you to get to the funeral next week .Did you say it is the 27th?.That was nice to see little Grace.I bet she was a breath of air :-D
My Dog has just done a rather loud fart :-S.Then looked so innocent lol.I think it might be the Pasta and Sardine that he has had !!!.I gave him a few nobbles of his new dried food.I have take about a week to get him on it properly.Fingers crossed he will take to it.
The trees are blowing about and every now and again there is a little snow.I think it is overnight that it is supposed to be coming .My brother in law drove to Bradford yesterday afternoon as his Dad is not well and his Mum is struggling.I think he might well be stuck there now for the weekend. If so my Sister will be 'Home alone' (Frank) :-D
Easy Dinner tonight....Southern Fried Chicken .Wedges and Asparagus, peas and Baby Corn :-D

Only William and Jane around I see,
I am very fortunate, in as much we haven't had the Hospital feeding problems. Only my Dad spent a lot of time in hospital, with Cancer. My Mum was at home, and looked after by my twin sister. Both Ros's Mum and Dad were looked after at home by us. The only time I have been in Hospital was with my stroke for a month, and the nurses looked after me very well food wise. I always got what I ordered and it was always hot and palateable, likewise with Ros, and of course we were young enough to make a fuss. I do feel for these older people who just seem to lay there 24/7. with hardly any visitors. When Ros was in hospital, she always had loads of visitors and I would go and chat to some old dear for part of my visit. It is so nice that there are people who like Jane/Liz are prepared to help in feeding the older people.
We haven't had any snow here, but my gawd that wind is a Bugg##. The trees were on there side this morning.
I'm still sitting here in a pair of shorts and bare top.
Stir fry for us tonight, so Ros will do that. It's all prepared, just needs the wok getting down from the top cupboard, when she's ready to start.
FOOTBALL TONIGHT.

Here I am!!!!
Hav'nt done much today but help smeone on their thread.
Been raining all day and we had that lake in the corner of the orchard this morning and it's still there now. Also still raining. The poor girls are paddling again. When we had that dry cold weahter a few weeks ago their run dried out well but one night of rain and it's all soggy again.
When are we going to get some decent weather I wonder if ever.
There was a land slide in Looe and it knocked down a ladies house. She had been away and had come back last night. They say the house is too dangerous to go in and look for her. She was in her 60's. Oh said it was disgusting.........................and a bit more which I can't repeat.

Yes Frank, you only have Jane and I to listen to our grumbles. Talking of grumbles Jane, you only said you HEARD your dog fart, you didn't mention anything a bout a particular aroma LOL
Yes Jane, Jim's funeral is on the 27th at 1pm and it's a burial. If this weather keeps up it will just add to the despair we feel. We are going on Tuesday 26th, being driven there, staying overnight and coming back on the afternoon/evening of the 27th. I'm hoping that it will give Carmel some closure and she isn't at all well and I think it's being so far away from the reality of it. She had a lot of medical appointments around this time and we have had to reshuffle them all, not an easy task, but most of those concerned have been very helpful and respected the situation.
I took some photos on my camera of Grace today, I'll try and email them out if they are any good. She is a little darling, bless her, and as good as gold. I call her Little Miss Happy Bunny.
