Frank we have thought it was quite chilly here and have the fire lit.Looks like we may or not get the snow for the weekend.I think it will be hit and miss. Shirl we often seem to have the same kind of weather as you around the same time. I hope we will get to see your room when it is all done :-D.I too hate all the mess when any decorating is being done :-| :-|
My Chicken ,Leek and Lemon Pie was a great hit last night.Mind you all that Puff Pastry seemed to flake all over my kitchen floor and in the oven.I had to get the hoover out for both lol.Tonight I am doing something new again(I'm on a roll :-D :-D) It is a recipe I have found in a Sainsbu*** magazine, called Tartiflette.I have to grate and slice some garlic and shallots,so better get my gloves out.(I might ask Chris to do that as I can feel my face sweating already (as that's what onion smelling things do to me). It's thickly sliced cooked waxy potatoes, bacon lardons, shallots, garlic, dry white wine, creme fraiche, fresh Thyme leaves,Parsley and topped with either Camembert or Reblochon cheese(never heard of it but bought some). Then it will be dished up with Sausages and some veg.....haven't even started it yet :-S I better get a move on.

Frank,Chris's main problem is that he looks like he is speaking out of the side of his mouth. One side works but the other doesn't.Some people will think he might have had a slight stroke. His right eye waters a lot too.
I really shouldn't start to do new recipes in the evening.I get all in a Hoo Ha :-S.But it's done now and we will see what it's like at 8 :-D
Did you see the Pope this morning? I loved the way he walked with the cross. It was like it was a walking pole lol.I think I rather like the look of him.Just a normal kind of man :-D :-D

How was dinner Jane?
Did you both like it?
Oh enjoyed our irish stew better than a beef stew. We had a quarter of a savoy cabbage each and dough boys. I only had half a tato. I put leeks, pearl barley, celery and two stock cubes (chicken) in it o and a bit of swede.

Shirl will pass on recipe tomorrow 'twas delicious(quite rich). Mel what meat is in an Irish Stew...Sounds tasty :-D. Chris took a fair time to eat again, just because he can't feel half of his mouth (bless him) I do feel sorry. He has gone to bed now,no doubt will feel a bit apprehensive about seeing everyone tomorrow.
I had a message from a Historian tonight who is interested in another person (different line ) of Fitz's family.I think Fitz will be very excited when I see him tomorrow and tell him.

Evening All,
Mum's Irish Stew always had mutton in it. I used to love it and still do. That would suit me nicely Mel, I settle for a very small potato if I have one, love the crinkly savoy and had half a plateful today!! :-)
Your tartiflette sounds very tasty but naughty Jane.......isn't that supposed to be a rather, ahem, smelly cheese? Maybe it disappears with cooking though. The chicken and leek with lemon pie sounds very nice too. That's good that things keep turning up for Fitz. A tree is never 'finished' really is it.......always something to find out. I hope Chris gets a more of a listening than talking day tomorrow. It must be a bit daunting as his face probably feels a lot worse than it looks , like when you've had an injection at the dentist.
Shirl.........things have to look worse before they look better with decorating!! I think we are at risk of more snow too, but today turned out quite sunny here.

I put shoulder of lamb fillets in my stew.
I don't like neck of lamb with all the little bits of bone you get in it. Yuk :-S

The neck's fatty and gristly too isn't it Mel. More Yuk!! I know mum didn't use that in hers as it was chunks of meat but I remember trying neck after I was married.....never again though! They raised quite a bit of money for the hall didn't they.
When I went for my NHS check today I was back in my car within 11 minutes!! There was a list of things to be checked and discussed in the leaflet they sent, but they didn't do the measuring of height or weigh me. No discussion of lifestyle or diet either and she didn't seem to be able to believe that I never drink alcohol! I had to fill in a form about family illnesses, to take with me but all the nurse put on the computer from it was my dad's heart attack! My BP was fine and they took 2 tubes of blood for the sugar, cholesterol, liver and kidney checks. I got the impression short cuts were being taken, but it's good they do the checks they did do.
Pat, it sounds like you are going to be busy with the 'boys' this week. I hope Mocha doesn't try pulling Max's lampshade off! I threatened to put one of those lampshades round OH's neck once when he had eczema in his ears and kept scratching!
I hope Sofia has a better night tonight, poor little mite. It must be sore eating and drinking with her ulcer and cracked lips.

Morning/Evening All
What a filthy day.Lots of snow earlier but now nasty misty rain.Very unpleasant :-S :-S
The furthest I will be going today is to see Fitz. But before that some very boring housework is in order :-|
If I was a child and it was this weather I would want to make a tent with a big sheet and the dining chairs and take up camp :-D :-D

Morning All and Evening Kim,
It's a lovely morning here at the mo. Big white fluffy clouds in the sky and sunshine. It is not cold out yet either. Washing is in so it will probably wait till thats ready to cloud over completely.
How's Chris this morning Jane? Has he gone to work?? How's our Chester too?
Ann I can just imagine Gordon with one of those collars on. You naughty girl threatening him with that.
Must get on with some of the dreaded housework too. The kitchen needs a good tidy and a hoover as oh keep bringing in blimmin sawdust and wood shavings from his turning. He is still working on those big bowls from the ash tree. At least the pile of huge logs is going down a bit but the garage is getting fuller. O well you can't win can you?
Did Ros get home safely Frank with the car?
Pat how is your little dog today? still full of beans?

Are your glasses fitting better now Mel? I had a rimless pair once that were very flimsy and light and the wind used to blow them off sometimes!! They were always falling into the shrubs when I bent over in the garden as well.
I've cleared the tops in the uti now and cleaned the sink so I'd better get on with turning the cupboards out now.......well, make a start anyway!

I put the washing out this morning and it had been out about half an hour and it started to rain. I told you so :-| :-| :-| :-|
I brought it in but have just oput it out again now as the suns out again.
Mandy I know just what you mean about not having any oomph. I am going to have a cuppa too I think. Am trying to be good, only had two boiled eggs and salad for lunch. Think I may have to go back to bran flakes for brekky as I keep eating this Spec**l K red berries and I think thats what is putting weight on me also not drinking any alcohol sp? I am having Ov*ltine Light at night before bed. Don't think thats helping but it does make me sleep.
I would go on my diet but now I can't have gratefruit juice it seems ponitless I wonder if orange juice would do the same job? You can loose 20lbs in two weeks if you stick to quite well.

Ann my glasses are staying on better but they are still travelling down my nose a bitand I have to keep lifting them up. My last rimless pair never fell off my face whilst gardening as they fitted really well behind the ears. The only trouble with those was if I put them down without thinking where they were I could'nt find them again!!

Mister Grumpy here. Have been to my doctor this morning for the result of my chloresterol blood test. One minute he tells me the results are fine, the next he tells me I have to stay on the statins! Reason - "your chloresterol is down BECAUSE you are on the statins". Oh, well, one little pill per night isn't going to be too big a problem I suppose.
Is there anyone else like me that DOESN'T like the news? I ask this specially on Budget Day because I guess most of us will want the news at some point or another. My Dad always 'shushed' me when the news was on, radio in the old days, TV in later times. My response was always, "Well, YOU can't DO anything about it Dad". But still I got shushed! So, now I'm married to Carmel all these years, and what does she absolutely love. THE NEWS!!! The TV gets turned up, I'm 'shushed' once again. I usually disappear into the kitchen and do some pottering about. That is unless there is something really earth shattering or local. I guess that's the reason we never have a newspaper in our house, but Carmel can still watch TV News twice a day, no trouble. And now she knows that BBC News have Channel 80, 24/7 news, what a Happy Easter Bunny she is :-0

Well, I opened the uti cupboard doors.......and shut them again.......maybe start them tomorrow!! :-0 I've lost the oomph like Mandy and have been sitting doing my bead homework instead! lol.
I need to look what's involved in changing our router to the wireless one as we may be able to do it tomorrow now OH has got on well with writing up his minutes. He's out again at a meeting now. He decided to do plenty this last month before the council stop providing the service and while he can't do much outside yet.
Mel I know just what you mean about the shavings and sawdust as my first OH used to walk inside with his clothes covered. It really sticks into the carpet and is hard to hoover up.
That's a coincidence Pat that your Senior Citizen check is this week as well. I hope you get a more thorough one than mine was! lol. It is good Max is his old self again and he and Mocha sound like good pals except for the odd scrap!!
William, my dad was the same about the news and also about the football results for the pools when they came on. We daren't utter a word or it would be 'shush' like you say. OH listens to the nine o clock news and news on the car radio. I tend to just look at teletext these days. You can pick the bits of news that interest you that way and not have to listen to it all!! :-) The downside is there are no pictures of course!
I'm popping to the shop in the village now, hopefully the workers will be home now so the road to the village will be clear. :-D
No Kim or David for a while now.....hope they are both ok.
