If your neighbours Water isn't down to the same level theres an obdtruction needs rodding through so the water can find its own level, worth the time and effort.

When I drove home, the other side of the village there is a big National Grid electrical place with the pylons marching off in different directions. It is quite low lying, but I noticed huge puddles everywhere on the site.......electricity, water?

That's a good sign if the water isn't up in the manhole Jane. You will have to send Chris out for regular checks if it keeps raining!! ;-) It has started again here now.

Yes Ann, It is better to cook Goose on a trivet, as they do make a lot of fat, we do Duck on a trivet too for the same reason - they are very succulent and if you salt the top the skin crisps up beautifully - really yummy!! Do try it Jane, I think you might be pleasantly surprised!
We watched 'Miss Hatto' too and we really loved it. I knew a bit about her, but not the full extent of 'the fraud'!! I found it quite sad. W.Abbey and Claridges were brilliant, well worth watching! Tonight is 'The Girl' which looks promising.
Dishwasher rumbling away! what a treasure!!!

I bet your glad your not in the caravan this year Liz..... :-D but all tucked away in that cosy new house.

What did Merlin and Millie have for Christmas?

We always save presents for Boxing Day as mum always did so we carry it on.

Today I had another metal fairy, a bobbly hat, another card for the camera, the pot and pot pouri, a new battery for my BIG torch and a lovely LARGE ball of string for use in the tunnel.

Oh has 6 more pressies to open after dinner tonight and I have 4.

I only have to think of the caravan Mel to stop any grumbles that bubble up!!! I totally realise how warm and cosy we are and how lucky we have been/are. Merlin and Millie I'm afraid only got a kiss each, however, Millie will get all the Goose bits and bobs! Poor Merlin spent the day on his own! and Millie spent it in the car as she always does when we go to Laura's! L's house isn't that big and with 7 of us + Stella it gets a bit fraught! Luckily she doesn't mind and almost seems happier out of the way! Polly and I took them both for a nice walk, so all was well!

Annx Report 26 Dec 2012 17:52

I might try a duck first then Liz. OH loves it and often has it 'crispy' when we are out, but I've never got round to doing one at home! I just had a look and The Girl looks as if it could be interesting, so I will record it. Thanks for mentioning it.

Actually, I think I quite like that idea Mel. It leaves more to look forward to doesn't it. Camera cards are a good pressie.... I like the sound of a cosy bobbly hat too!

David Rodding through is not something that will be done easily if it is roots blocking. That will have to be the job of the experts.
Ann Chris has his head band lamp so can check drain if need be in the dark :-D.Lets just hope he doesn't need it .He is yawning his head off tonight and feels shattered(back to work tomorrow) :-S

Mel I think it nice to keep some pressies for boxing day(not that we do).Can we have a pic of you in your bobblehat????

Sounds a good shopping day Ann :-D.....love the robbers texts lol ..what a dope :-S

Hi Shal, I used to love Lamb Chop too!

I think it depends on what kind of membership you have whether you can view any search documents. Yours sounds like standard membership, which is the same as mine. I have to purchase pay as you go credits as well if I want to view eg census docs. Otherwise you have to upgrade to the more expensive Platinum membership.

Jane

Jane Report 26 Dec 2012 22:24

Ann I think it is something to do with Mel being affected by certain synthetic scents /smells.I seem to remember her saying she is fine with natural scents.

Right that is me for the day.I can't wait to drop into bed.
See you all tomorrow xx

Annx Report 26 Dec 2012 22:39

The turkey summat tonight just hit the spot and was very nice. :-)

Nightie night.......ZZZzzzzzzz

Yes Jane is right Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome. Some things make my tongue sting and lips sometimes. Eyes water and I cough and sneeze. It happens with all sorts of things. I have just changed my washing powder because every time I put the washing machine on I would start to sneeze. It was B*old lavender and camomile which I liked the smell of but now gone on to Fa*ry non bio and hav'nt sneezed since.

SHAL welcome to the thread. I remember Lamb Chop. She appeared with a lady I believe.

If you wnat things looked up don't buy the credits just ask us on here and we will do it for you without you having to pay.

Off to bed now so see you all in the morning.

Have taken note of your new number Jane.

Afternoon Everyone
Another dull and drizzly day here in old Northamptonshire :-S.I nipped to the bank earlier and then had a mosey around Asd*.Not a lot clothes wise in the sale .Lots of sparkly wear. But I got Hannah a nice little cardi and James a pack of pants lol.Exciting eh!

Hannah has just left to get the train back to London with some food for tonight and tomorrow .It was nice having her here for nearly a week.......now I am going to clear up behind her :-SThe 1,000 piece puzzle will be the first thing. She did it all in less than 2 days....I was very impressed,as the pieces are small and some really weird shapes.

I see it is very quiet here today. What is everyone doing I wonder :-D.
Before I start any tidying I am going to try and ring these people who have supposedly sent this voucher for Curr**.....it is still not here :-S :-S

Hello everyone, just thought I'd do a post before we trolley off to our daughters for family get together over dinner (Turkey again!!!)

We have had a nice time so far, just the two of us, no one to argue with, total agreement what to eat and what to watch. Been out a couple of times, yesterday only S*ore Twenty One and Te*co were open. Today we got a bit further afield and visited our dear friend around the corner.

Yesterday was a day for me to remember my late brother Fred (my only sibling). He loved Boxing Day and looked forward to bubble and squeak and watching Morecambe and Wise. And that's just what I did, we had B & S for our dinner with cold turkey (no, not drug rehab!!!) and later I watched M & W, song and dance on BBC2. I definitely LOL'ed :-D

We were listening to a report on the fox hunting lobby yesterday on the radio, then we fell about laughing when the reporter signed off with her name - Maria Trott !!!
Remember we were going on about words and language on here? I tell you what does annoy me, when people say 'your' when they mean 'our' An example is a weather report 'YOUR weather today will be showery and windy'. - So, does the weather reporter have different weather?

We have enjoyed most of the TV offerings over the holiday but sometimes there were too many on at once to record and view. I have to say though that for me Downton seemed to drag on a tad too long. I found myself nipping into the kitchen everytime the ads came on. I thought the end was rather predictable when we had a view of Matthew driving along in his car with a smile on his face. It was all too good to last and I wondered why it didn't just cut to him arriving back home. That's two 'half-orphaned' children in D A !!!

Lamb Chop was indeed a 'sock puppet' created by American comedienne Shari Lewis. She also had another similar puppet, Hush Puppy. Sadly she died of pneumonia in 1998 but her daughter Mallory (see photo) has since made an appearance using Lamb Chop.
