Thank you for the welcome and the Christmas wishes everyone. And a happy birthday to you Frank.

Mel, used to love the Rupert albums but when I look at them now, I think they were a bit weird, all in rhyme too. My favourites were ALL the Enid Blyton books I could get my hands on. My Mum used to get quite annoyed because I read them so quickly.

Tracy, yes I go on Spanish eyes (Bridget's) thread. (And Greaders, GR Writers, Craft, Wales, birds, and Jean's thread(By Mo) So I have 'met' some of you on some of those. :-)

Mel, you have reminded me, I had a Rosebud doll called Diana donkeys years ago, I really loved her. I also had another doll called Annabel, whose arm came off on Boxing day!!! (different year) My S.Father managed to mend her, but that arm was never as mobile as the other! I still loved her though and she became the chief patient in any hospital game!!
Very Happy Birthday to you Frank. I have sent you an e-card, and HOPE it gets to you, unlike my Xmas Cards!!!
Off to the village shop for final odds and ends - It's p#####g down here and black as your hat! Those poor people who have been flooded - AGAIN!! it must be just dreadful!

I remember I had a Chatty Cathy doll, you pulled a string and she talked. She was around late 50s. I cut off all her hair as little girls do and she had to go off to the dolls hospital to get a new eye and head of blonde curls. She looked marvellous, but I can't remember what happened to her.

Morning All and Evening Kim,

We have a bigger lake in the corner of our orchard today!! It started raining last night and it has'nt stopped since. The back field has a stream running through it and the chickens house is moated.

Send for the ark please? I need to get my animals and birds to safety........ :-S

I was going shopping today for the last things I need but I don't think oh will let me out.

Jane

Jane Report 22 Dec 2012 11:05

I too had a Rupert Annual each year :-D.My walkie talkie doll was called Angela. She had very curly hair that felt like wire lol.Her rubbery face gradually turned orange over the years .But I thought she was beautiful lol

I was at Tes** by half 8.Apparently is had been very busy at 4am !!!!.I forgot to get sugar and Fair* Liquid :-S so once I have had my coffee and put my boots back on I will nip to the local shop.
The rain was hammering down as I wheeled my trolley out to the car park and it was soooooo black.I need to put stuff in the fridges (if there is any room!)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Dec 2012 11:13

O Jane that reminds me I have to clear the fridge out today and give it a good wash. We hav'nt got a turkey crown this year but a breast joint in the freezer I bought a little while ago. We have a small ham and a nice selection of cheeses and those are in the fridge up the caravan with some extra milk.

Tree is not up and running yet!!!! That usually comes in Christmas Eve as was the tradition.

Morning all/Evenin g Kim,

Thank you all for your Cards and Birthday Wishes. I don't feel my age, add twenty years. THAT'S BETTER !!!

Ros surprised me. with a new TELE. for the conservatory. After I went to bed last night, she got it out of the car (it had been stored at Martines) packed and wrapped it, and stood it in front of the frireplace. It is now all set up ready for me to use as and when I need it. The other one a 17" will be set up in the kitchen (for whatever reason) The new one is 32" will be a lot easier for me to watch football on.

I have also had two stone jars of Stilton a bottle of port. A new breakfast cup with a pen with "F" on the clip. The Boys presents will be had tonight when we meet up.

I have had an extra BIRTHDAY PRESENT "ROS HAS LOST HER VOICE" LOL LOL. An old friend rang last night, when she answered the phone, she sounded like a broken record. It just seemed to get worse as the evening wore on.

Been thinking of all the poor folk who have the floods, what a terrible time they must be having. Mel, I am building an "ARK" as we speak, will float down and pick you up next week. lol lol

Been raining here all night and hasn't stopped this morning. I don't know whether I will get to the pub for a oint at lunchtime. I don't thimk the outboard motor is working on the boat :-D :-D :-D

I've had my shower, now I had better go and get dressed.

The gammon is thawing, and I will boil that later, then do my mix, to go over it in the oven. I can then cover and put in the back fridge, ready to take up to Conrads on Monday.

Just heard on the news not to drive to Wales or the South West !!.James has just left to go to Kent (thank goodness that is east :-D.Mind you I think it will be quite an unpleasant journey with all this water on the roads.I will worry until I know he has arrived. He is going be at Jess's parents and coming home on Xmas Eve.

I had a look at the ditch over the road and realise that it hasn't been cleared out all the way.Only up as far as opposite next door :-S :-S.So the rain water won't be getting through further along.I spoke to the chap in the first house(who was flooded like us) and he said that Highways team who cut and cleared this stretch wouldn't go any further as it is actually the responsibility of the man who owns the stables and his field backs up to the ditch. He is not a very pleasant person at all and I think it will be impossible to get him to do anything. He will dig his heels in .But if we get flooded again because he does nothing then we would have to threaten to sue I think.

Mel how are the Chickens faring .I bet they must have webbed feet now.I just hope they are going to be ok .

Well who's a lucky boy then getting his new TV.That was good of Ros to have it all wrapped and ready for you this morning.........So it's quiet in your house then is it ;-)
I hope she is feeling well enough for tonight.

Kim I had a card from Sheila yesterday. No news in it.You do realise she has left GR ?? I'm not sure if you knew or not.
Well done to Miranda for passing her exams. That must be a huge relief all round :-D
It will be nice for you to go to your friends on Xmas Day and not have to think about cooking or feeding your family.

I have just sorted out more Laundry for the lovely Hugo to collect this evening.I am so peeved as nothing has arrived from the Insurance. :-S :-S.It is the last day for laundry so it was a good thing I remembered to ring.It won't be back until Thursday ,but that is fine.
Chris is grouting a few bits that seem to have been missed on the new tiles (in the loo).Hannah has just had a bath and washed her hair and is off to see some friends at 4.

Now I am going to ring Fitz as his mother isn't well and the Doctor had been called this morning. He took Christmas presents to her this morning and as he got there passed the Undertakers wheeling some poor soul out :-(

Been to the shop and had lunch so now I must clean the fridge after washing up.

Frank I hope poor Ros finds her voice soon. It sounds like she has had a nasty cold or bit of flu with the upset tummy last week.

I also hav'nt cleaned Hogwart out yet and it had a party again last night.

Frank the pic I sent you that you could'nt open I had not renamed it. It was my wreaths. I will try again.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Dec 2012 14:31

Thanks for the mince pies Mandy they look just like the ones I make.

Oh like the Viennese fingers but I have never made them.

Thanks for your card Kim it arrived today. Smashing picture and it is hanging just above the pc and over my desk.

Shirl got her card. I am so pleased but I wonder if Kim will get hers??

Forgot to send them by Air Mail and popped them in the post with the rest. It was'nt until I got home I realized what I had done.

Frank, just to add my Very Best Wishes for your birthday, hope it's a good one. Only just logged on, been shopping at M*rrisons this morning. That's it for now, what we aint got, can be forgot!!! ;-)

I think I know what happened to the No 20 bus in Coventry yesterday, that arrived at the stop and didn't depart. It realised that it was the end of the world - for IT anyway. :-(

Thank goodness the rain has finally eased up. How awful for anyone with plans to travel away for the holiday. I'm also thinking of those poor folks affected by flooding. Bad enough anytime of the year, even worse at this time. Does this mean future Christmas cards will have Noah's ark instead of a manger? Gonna read some more thread news. C Y A L

It's me again,

Had a lovely day so far. Went for a pint or three, also frieds wanted to but me scotch. I only had one. Thank goodness. !!!

We finished the stew of at lunchtime, it gtr better the longer it was in the saucepan, Ros transfered the last drop into another saucepan, leaving me with the big one for the HAM.

That has boiled and simmered for two hours plus. Now cooling in the juices. I have made the drizzle. Brown sugar, White wine Vinigar, Soya sauce, Ginger, and various other herbs and spices. That will be spooned over befotre being baked in the oven. Then the rest will be spooned over after 15/20 minutes. and basted. till I think it's ready. I hope I can keep my hands off it. :-D :-D :-D

Going to have a rest now and listern to the football.

Just went in to feed Hogwart and he/she was out. Done a big present for me and went back in but only into the first part of it's bedroom bit. I tried Ann's trick of stroking it's back but I was'nt able to turn it over to see what sex it is but I did weigh it again. Last time it was just over 600grams. Today it is, wait for it...............900 grams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats 2lbs. I thought it felt heavy when I took it to the kitchen.

Not long back from daughters. My goodness, I realise I'm getting on a bit now coping with a 7 week old baby and an 18 month old toddler. Harry was as good as gold, had his dinner, got him in the bath and then bed and was asleep before I got down the stairs but Chloe was a little grumpy knickers, very hard to sort one out when the other one is crying, couldn't do that too often. Still enjoyed spending time with them though.

I remember buying my eldest daughter Giggles one Christmas. You pulled her arms out and she giggled. Daughter decided to wash her hair that was okay until she tried to dry it with the hairdryer, synthetic hair, ended up a matted mess and all before Christmas lunch.

Hope you are having a good birthday Frank, that was a lovely present from Ros.

So I'm not the only one with the munches Ann ;-) Don't like mince pies much but it's a good job there's no Christmas cake here, it wouldn't last long.
