LOL Mandy. A big pair I hope.
Ann what a beautiful bauble.....I want some like that.If we put orders in for next Xmas do you think you could deliver :-D :-D :-D.You could do Baubles like Mel does her Wreaths. They'd go like a bomb!

Just spoke to Mel .I thought she rang me on my mobile but it wasn't her.She has been out and about today getting through deep water :-S Now she is trying to think what to have for dinner.

I was thinking of Paper Chains today.Licking and Sticking. Then making the chain so long it broke :-S.Trying not to get 2 colours the same together .I haven't seen them in the shops for a long time now.I wonder if they are still made??
I did drive past a house the other day with those Lantern Decorations (the ones that we used to pin on the ceiling)I think the last time we had them was when the Children were little. Also those stretchy Decs that unfolded like a concertina, that also went on the ceiling from one end of the room to the other.
I really miss the old tree decorations that my Parents had (the glass ones) wrapped carefully every year in cotton wool.I wonder what ever happened to them.

Few have we had some rain here all day and it's been miserable with it too. We went out early to the garden center down to Dipper Mill bridge to get ot Holsworthy. The river was out and it was 2 foot deep on the measure thingy at the sides of the road over the bridge.

Ellen's friend has been moved to another ward (she used to be a nurse with Ellen) I doubt if she will get a hip replacement, she's 80 and rather frail, but it ought get it pinned.

My father was killed 70 years ago tonight - We always light a candle and say a prayer for him and his companions, then we can start Christmas.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Dec 2012 21:23

2nd part of my post!!!!!!

We had to come back and go to Black Torrington but the river was out there too but not so bad and we had a small lorry in front of us so we watched him go through and then we followed. Made it and got to Cornwall garden center. Still raining and had a good look round for some small things for oh to buy me. Do you think I could find anything I wanted??????? not on your nellie :-| :-| :-| He did buy me a sack of pesnuts and a sack of black sunflower seed for my wild birds as I love feeding them. I bought a small 20 set of lights that run off three batteries which are in place round my pc screen as I type. I like my Christmas lights and candles.

Anyway we went on to Holsworthy where oh bought me a sack of wild bird food in the small pet shop there and a couple of LARGE fat balls. Then it was time to head home after a quick look in Mole Valley farmers. Oh bought me some rechargable batteries for my Christmas present which is ordered and a couple of pasties for lunch. Off we set for home and thought that the water would be even deeper when we came back as the rain had'nt let up at all.

This time we crossed the third bridge in Sheepwash. That was out too but we chanced it and got through being watched by two ladies walking a dog who had a big log about 2 foot long in his mouth.

Got home at just after 2.15pm. Had to do some lunch for oh who was still hungry. Gave him mussles in garlic butter and the loaf of bread and a yoghurt and that kept him quiet. I got on and did the wreaths that were ordered at the shop and then took them down and delivered them.

I made 20 wreaths, 1 bar, one posy this year. I was really pleased with that.

Wrote a post and posted it before I had finished typing it and then did dinner and ate it. Now wacked out........................................

O had a telephone conversation with Jane as she has posted already and now I shall do up a few pressies later on when oh is in bed and out of the way.

Liz what a sad time for you it must be. I hope you enjoy your Christmas now this date has passed.

Ann lovely necklace and bauble more winners from your nifty fingers.

We have the big puddle in the corner of the orchard again. Been there since this morning.

Very thoughtful of you to remember him in that way.

Just before the end of the year in 1944 my uncle Ralph was killed in action with many others. He was a stoker first class on Corvette HMS Bluebell. which was torpedoed while on convoy escort duties.

Well, I never got the email............. :-S :-|

Pat, I prefer the C*op's choc assorted biccies to some of the more expensive brands. Lots of good offers in there aren't there!

Jane, I need some new specs before I attempt any more!!! lol. Mandy I will try and find the pattern over the next few days if you like.

Jane, it sounds like you need some sealer along that join on your door. If you can get it dry I would put some duck tape over it for now. It sounds like Bella enjoyed the extra fuss at Fitz's........I suppose Podge was 'out hunting' for pheasant number 3. :-0 It didn't surprise me that Fitz's buttonhole was LARGE!! lol.I hope he gets his boiler and phone working soon.....oh dear, it was his toilet last year wasn't it.

Liz has hiccups.........Christmas can have a lot of sad as well as happy memories for many folk, but that is a nice way to remember your dad. My first MIL's funeral was in the morning on the 20th.....also our office's Christmas meal the same day, so I went from one to the other. It was bitterly cold and I had a streaming cold that day as well. I remember I wore a midcalf fitted mushroom coloured trench style coat and a pinky brown hat I had knitted. Funny how you remember little details like that.

Mel, you have had a busy day, what with coping with the floods as well!! I hope they don't get any worse, but I think we are due more rain. The fields along the main road had standing water again this morning.I want some more of those little battery lights......so useful to put anywhere. We have struggled with presents for each other too.......have some books for each other and a jigsaw for me, but we are hoping to get a laptop, printer and dvd recorder in the new year and may buy a few gifts as we each see things we'd like in the sales. We aren't fussed about having it all on the day.

LilyL Report 21 Dec 2012 09:46

Sorry about the hiccups, I was using my laptop without the additional mouse, and I'm never quite sure if it's clicked or not! Yes it was a sad time and later for your family too David; For me, as I never knew my father, it is a more a time of reflection, and gratitude for the bravery and sacrifice of him and his companions. They were buried in Holland on Christmas Eve. My mother had final confirmation of his death in the middle of January, around the time that I was born, through the Red Cross. Not good, but there you were, us and thousands of others. Much better day here, for the moment! maybe even get washing out!!! Lovely pieces Ann, so cleverly made. We too, have bought things that have caught our eye as we don't buy pressies for each other any more, poor C###t, we got a new printer, laptop, and CD/Radio/DVD recorder, all half price. I bought a decent Kenwood too, but this was from C####'s. I do love cooking and my old Food Processor had seen better days, so all in all a successful Xmas shop in!

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Dull this morning, so what's new? It poured last night quite late. It was coming down like stair rods.I wonder where that expression came from?

Well I think today I need to tidy up a bit and move this gas fire thing out of the kitchen so I can get the tree in. We repotted it this year so it is going to be heavier for oh to get in here and with all the rain we've had that is'nt going to help.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Dec 2012 09:51

O Liz you popped in before me.

LilyL

LilyL Report 21 Dec 2012 10:50

Sorry about that Mel!!! Hey! We've just noticed that the new 'DVD etc' is compatable with our old record deck! How brilliant is that, so all those reords we thought we couldn't play anymore we now find we can! Hoorray!! ' I ' is off out this morning getting bits and bobs to mend the roof on our barn; He will talk for ever so I shall have a nice bit of time to wrap up the 'littles' pressies, tidy up and get lunch without interruption! How's that for a bonus!!!!

Afternoon All,

We were up with the lark this morning to do most of the last bits of shopping and it was still very busy. A few savouries and desserts for the freezer, the cream etc and then to the farm shop for the veg and eggs. The veg is really fresh there and keeps ages so I decided to get it today rather than wait nearer the time. It was packed in there with people doing the same !!

Mel, I love your little banties and that was a really clever shot your OH got of the Owl. Good luck with the tree........hope the wet has all dripped off it outside.
:-S

Jane, that is still a pretty big tree that Fitz has and the second tree isn't really small is it!! I like the decorated greenery at the back of the fire too. It all looks really festive.

The floods around here seem worse than last time and some of people's driveways near the quarry at Huncote are flooded. The farm we get the turkey from has floods in the fields this time, so I hope we don't get too much more rain or it might be corned beef for Christmas lunch!!. I noticed a huge flock of geese on the floodwater by the river down the road as well.I feel so sorry for the people whose homes are at risk......they must dread all the rain.

Back to doing my necklace now...........think I may run out of the little beads, so may be up with the lark again to go to Ashby tomorrow as that is where I bought them and it will be BUSY!!

We were both saying today how nice it is to feel well again!! :-) :-) I hope Ros is much better now too.

Coo that is a bonus Liz. Men say women talk a lot but my oh can talk forever and usually over something you are wanting to listen to.
