Mel it is so annoying when you really want something and just can't find it.Especially Chrimbo Decs.
Pheasants are such dopey birds aren't they.I have often had to toot at them to get them off the road.
Frank I hope your old Tum has finally settled now.It just knocks the stuffing out of you .
I didn't get as far as Beckwort* so no skating lol.By the time I came out of Curr** my head was spinning with all the technology that had been explained.I had a very good young man who was very helpful. It is all a bit mind boggling.I then nipped into Tes** which was crazy today.I got home at 2pm so besides being worn out it wouldn't have been worth me driving to Beckw as they close at 4.So I am going to go on Wednesday afternoon when I can have Chris's car.

I wonder how Ann's Christmas dinner is going with her In Laws :-D :-D.If she was worn out before they arrived poor girl must feel dead on her feet now :-S

Just watching Nigella...goodness me ,I wish I looked as glamorous when I cook.AND she makes everything look so easy.Yeah Right!!!

Now I have got Lamb Shanks cooking (James's bit of Turkey is cooked). So when the Lamb is done I can whack the temp up and put the roast potatoes in.Yummy :-D

Jane, yes I like jazz among a lot of music. I listen to David Koz and liked what I heard. Put it on in You Tube, very relaxing, then I thought what does his playing remind me of. Then I thought hard and came up with Spyra Gyra and their rendition of Morning Dance. The sax player on there has a similar style.
If you want to listen to a lovely carol sung with a beautiful voice, listen on You Tube (or whatever) to Alison Krauss signing the Irish Wexford Carol. It's well worth a listen.

We just had a walk down to our local shopping town around lunch time, about 10-15 minutes. Ended up just browsing whatever was open and coming back with 4 pints of milk from Ic*land. We hadn't been back 5 minutes when the door bell rang (I've set it to play Jingle Bells) and it was our friend Sue who had moved down to Bath in the autumn to be near her daughter. She was up visiting her brother so we were glad that we didn't miss her.

I was thinking about the language thing again. Have you notice how a lot of Australian's finish a sentence on a high note. Like "I've only just received your Christmas CARD". Hard to do in print but I'm sure you've got the gist.

Well i'am slowly losing the will to live here , i'am wrapping presents and twice i have lost the end of the sellotape !!!! taken ages to find the blooming end !!

I'd understand it if it was just on the reel but the reel is on a dispenser which is supposed to make it easier to use :-S :-S :-S :-S

Jane

Jane Report 16 Dec 2012 17:23

LOL Mandy.Surely if it is on a dispenser then the tape should be stretched over the crinkly cutting bit where you tear it off???? I wrapped a couple of pressies just now and was fine with the tape but then realised I had put the wrong tags on.I did manage to get them off without tearing the paper.

William I'm glad you liked David Kos.I remember Spyra Gyra. Can't just bring Morning Dance to mind so I will have a google for it :-D.There is something about a Saxaphone .I love it.

A nice Crescent Moon out tonight :-D

William

William Report 16 Dec 2012 17:49

Jane, I'm sure you'll know Morning Dance, it starts with a zylophone then leads into the sax. One of those numbers that you hear then it keeps running through your head.

I've just got Carmel's pressy's to wrap now (when she's out of the way).We did the exchange of our own cards this morning, wonder you didn't all hear the fanfare and drum roll! ;-) I found a little Irish postbox/money box for her so I've got some chocs to put into it. Hope the leprachauns don't them before the day :-D
Tonight is the night we exchange phone calls with her brother in Dublin and catch up with each others news. He's her actual brother, she has a half brother and two half sisters. Carmel's mother died when she was just 7 and she feels that even now.

Gotta go. C Y A L

Jane Report 16 Dec 2012 19:00

Just seen it William :-D Oh it takes me back.I see it was 1979.
How nice to exchange cards with each other.I think that is lovely.(we don't do that :-()
What a nice pressie too (especially with choccies in) :-D :-D

Dinner just about ready.

Yes its got the crinkly bit, but after i'd pulled the tape over it for some reason the reel went whizzing round and i lost the end ,but the trouble came when i tried to find the end i pulled one piece and a tiny little bit quarter of an inch pulled all the way round the reel ,i then had to find the end and the blooming thing .....and it did the same again !!!
I would have thrown the reel away but it was a new one i'd only put on the other day !!!

Hubby and i exchange cards .....i go and buy mine ....hubby gets DIL to get his ....still at least i know it will be a nice one .....goodness knows what i'd get other wise :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Annx Report 16 Dec 2012 21:39

Well, OH hadn't forgotten to bring down those decs!! Last year when we put stuff away I had a good sort out and had put them in one of the boxes he'd already brought down. He went scampering up into the loft when he got home TWICE to double check. I had been expecting them to be in a bag!! There's not much 'humble pie' left now!!! :-S lol.

Yes, dead on my feet is just about right Jane and it was only tea as well!! MIL and FIL really enjoyed it and MIL seems quite a bit more mobile now. She was telling us how years ago a local sweet shop would only allow children in 2 at a time because of the stuff they pinched!! She was talking about her time working in the Co-*p as well and how they would tot up the prices in their heads and that when they had tills that issued receipts the receipts didn't itemise the goods at first, just showed the total. OH is taking her to her post op appointment on Tuesday when hopefully she will be discharged. At least now the house is all decorated I can relax a bit tomorrow.

Mandy, I think there are some 'rogue' sellotape rolls, that just won't peel properly whatever you do!! It's a good job Frank wasn't using it!! ;-) It sounded as if it was nice by the sea with not too many people about. I like walking on beaches when there's hardly anyone there.

Oh Mel it is so annoying when things 'disappear' like that. I hope you find them. I couldn't find the little netted bauble I'd made yesterday, but found it this morning.

I seem to have sneezed a lot today, so I hope it is all that dust I've disturbed and not OH's cold.

Frank

Frank Report 16 Dec 2012 23:32

Here we go again, Ros is blaming me for giving her something (I should be so LUCKY) she thinks shes caught a cold from me, her nose is running ans she's getting a sore throat.

Mandy I had to smile over the sellotape , those presents I managed to wrap during the week, I had the B tape everywhere.
L
When in the RAF I use to hitch hike from London to Norwich and often got droped off at Newmarket ot Theatford. I would walk through the town, onto the open road, and would see hundreds of Pheasants along the Theatford Chase. Having been bought up in an area where you didn't see pheasants, I was amazed by their colours. and looked forward to seeing them every other week.

I hope you all recieved the Email about the JUKE BOX 1940/1999. I listened to a few of the hits, they are great if you like old music.

Felling a lot better this evening, I had a Sword fish steak for dinner about 5.00 pm with a bit of B & B. Ros had a Steak and salad.

See you in the morning

Morning all
Is it just me or does the cold damp windy weather eaxpose all our skeleton's weaknesses and many of the muscular.
Sometimes I walk for a while like Quasimodo.

William

William Report 17 Dec 2012 08:57

Mandy, you got the dreaded sellotape gremlin LOL! I've had that happen and it's so difficult to get a full width of tape again. I tend to pay a bit more and get the Magic tape, I find it's a lot better to handle and also reposition if need be. We used to use it a lot at work. (I have to PAY for it now :-\ ).
Frank, I like swordfish steaks too, haven't had one in long time. You saying about hitching in the RAF, I used to do that, had some amazing lifts. Couldn't see anyone doing it these days. Had a lift from near North Weald right up to Leicester one day - then 658 Midland Red to Nuneaton. A uniform got lot of perks and respect in those days.

C Y A L - brekky calls.

Join the Clan David.

I was up early this morning, trying to make an appointment for Ros at the Drs. After 15 minutes of engaged tones, I got throught only to be told her DR isn't on today, and to try again tomorrow. Dam and Blast.

Missed the beautiful sunrise this morning, couldn't find my camera.

Had a wonderfull nights sleep last night, would still be there if I hadn't had to get up.

I listened to the news again last night about those poor families who's children got murdered. I just can't believe nobody though the muderer had something wrong with him before this terrible tragedy. No sain person would have just gone off on one like that.

Not sure whats happening today, apart from me seeing the Dr at 3.40 pm over my medication and my KNEE. I am going to ask him if I can go to have an Xray to see if anything shows up.

Come on you computer wizkids. How do I save an EMAIL that I want ??? I don't want to delete it, and keep going back to find it.

Both bins have been emptied this morning, each week I wonderr if I have put the right ones out.

Morning Boys and Girls and Evening Kim,

I( see we have some early posterss this morning!! :-D :-D

You boys mentioning North Weald brings back memories of going to the old aerodrome in the spring to pick primroses. Soemthing else that would'nt be aloud today. Frank may remember the gypsies coming around the streets with bunches of primroses to sell. Mum always bought me a bunch and put them in a little cut glass type vase in my bedroom. I can remember they were ties with raffier with a few of the leaves around them.

Been raining here this morning but have had a couple of bright patches inbetween.

Lovely pics of the new baby from Fiona this morning. Sent by her hubby.

I agree with you Frank. What a terrible, terrible thing to have happened. The abject terror those children and ladies must have felt doesn't bear thinking about. Apparently (i'm sure that you read this) the guy's mother was a gun fanatic(!!) and collected as many as she could, so the house was just full of the wretched things. She even took him to a range in order for him to learn to shoot!!. Surely to God she and others must have realised that this guy wasn't exactly normal? well, the poor lady paid the price for that. The whole thing is just appalling. Put's ones own ups and downs into perspective that's for sure! Thank you Mandy for the very pretty Xmas Card.

Afternoon everyone,

Been nice and sunny today ,but what a start to the week !! Flat tyre on the car and when hubby went out to his van this morning the steering lock is on and won't budge !!
He's had a word with his man that does any work on his van and he was coming to have a look at it ,in the mean time hubby has taken a cover or some thing off and he's managed to get the lock off ,so hubby's gone off to let the chap have a look at it , but if he needs a new part which i think he will it will have to come from Germany !!!
He's not happy :-S :-S :-S

Lovely to see Fiona's new grandson ,what a dear little boy ,and who thinks Sophia looks like Fiona ? :-D

You might well smile about the sellotape Frank :-D today i've been struggling with the Cling Film !!
But i've now found that if you hold the cling film upright it cuts off like a dream ...how many years have i been using it !!! oh well you learn some thing every day :-D :-D

Thanks Pat and Ann for your christmas cards they came today ,getting quite a collection now :-D

Had to book the car in then for the extra work...

MillymollyAmanda Report 17 Dec 2012 17:13

And the latest saga with the van is.....hubby was taking the van so his chap could have a look at it, he was going down a country lane a car came so fast the other way that hubby had to go up onto the side of the road he then hit branches that were hanging low over the side ....they took the roof rack off the van !!! :-S :-S :-S

He was very lucky that there was no one behind him and that he never had his ladder on the rack at the time !! he had to run back up the road to pick the rack up before a car came along the road !!

What is it they say ....things happen in threes !! well that's his three for today :-(

But the good news is he only needs a new barrel with a new key for the van ,and we've been to Norwich to pick one up so lets hope tomorrow will be a better day .
