Afternoon everyone,

Nice sunny day here ,i've been busy washing my sitting room curtains, back ones first and then the front ,i like to swap them round so they get an even fade :-S :-S
Had to press them as they were a bit creased took ages as they are floor length !!

Oh Jane , thats sounds a big job :-S thank goodness its summer time to help it dry out a bit quicker .

Nice to see you back Pat, glad you had a good time even though it was hot ,i see there are lots of fires on some of the Canary Islands !! we had a fire near us when we were in Turkey , bit frightening at the time !!!
Poor little Mocha ,that's not very good , i'd take him to the vet to get him checked out as they said they would pay , just in case it flares up again .

Right the next curtains ready to go out .

Liz ,you could always have Chester for a few weeks :-D :-D .I m not sure how he is going t o cope with all this upheaval going on.I'll see how he goes and if he is getting too stressed I will have to see about him going to stay with the Lady again.

Pat ,good to see you home safe and sound after a lovely holiday. That is not good that Mochas bad foot was missed by the kennels.I think I would be looking elsewhere in future. Why don't you try the kind of thing I do with Chester. It's just home from home.

These dehumidifiers and fans are so noisy :-S :-S I have 2 big machines, and 6 big fans plus another noisy thing the circulates air or something. If I am in the kitchen I can't hear anything outside of the room. There is no way I will be able to leave them on at night time as our bed is right above the kitchen.I think I will be buying a lot of headache pills.
I made my first lot of Passatta with the first big picking of tomatoes and homegrown garlic and Basil.

Mandy you good girl washing all those curtains :-D Do you fancy doing some of mine too :-D

I had a sad call this morning. My dear friend Margaret down in Saltash had to her her little dog Puffin put to sleep this morning. She only had her a year :-(.Poor lady could hardly speak ,she was crying so much.....then of course that set me off.I just wish I was nearer her .She is all on her own now :-(
Must do something about food now.BBL

Oh dear Jane, your poor friend, was her little dog ill/old? Only to have her for a year! how awful, I do feel for her. No! I don't think Chester would like Merlin (ha!ha!) else you know I would be only too willing to help out!!!!! ;-)
Humidifiers ARE noisy (I remember it well!) we turned ours off at night asour bedroom was over the sitting room where it was!!
Supper in the Crock Pot tonight, so not too much clearing up!! :-D

Frank ,Rachel's Brother is quite a deep person. He listened to what I had to tell him and I think was horrified at what went on.I don't know if he will do or say anything yet,but he now knows just how we feel here about it all.

Pat did you find your dehumidifiers chucked out some heat as well as noise? I don't see me doing to many Roast Dinners or Curries in the coming weeks lol.James will be in charge when we go on holiday.I have just emptied the water container from the one in the garage. That didn't take too long to fill. The kitchen one has a tube that goes down the sink plughole. It does get in the way a bit with the washing up bowl and keeps slipping out.I think we need to get some tape to hold it in place.

Just had a call from our Fiona. She had to go to hospital at 4 this morning. With a pain that felt like her head was on fire and tingling down the side of her face. She is having a CT scan on Monday morning. But is looking like it Neuralgia (not tension)
So more new meds again for her.Fingers crossed they have finally found out the problem for her and she can now begin to get better.
She knows we are all thinking of her and waiting to have her back with us again <3

Chris has just walked in .You should see his face with all this noise !!!!!.

Holby City time again , how the weeks fly by !!!!

Been a very warm day here, Ros. has continued weeding and clearing all the bind weed and ivy from the fence, and amongst our shrubs. While good old me, sat in my lounger reading the paper and my book. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Jane, Those machines do throw off a lot of heat as well as noise. When we altered the new shop around, and knocked down walls etc. The plaster needed help to dry out so we had two of those. My big problem was that all the envelopes in the Post Office stuck together and sealed themselves with the humidity

Give Fiona our love, and hope they get her sorted out this time.

Trust everyone is well and welcome back Maureen and Mocha..

Annx Report 14 Aug 2012 20:39

Jane, send your humidifiers here........they will drown out nextdoors dog!! She's started going out in the evenings and leaving him in the garden then as well now! :-S I have watched when she comes home after being out and, would you believe it, the little b####r goes quiet as soon as he hears her car coming!!!!!

I think you need to use those earplugs Mel sent for James!! :-D We had 2 big fans here when they did all the lounge floor and they were very noisy so I do sympathise. Still, on the positive side, you have an excuse for doing no cleaning for a while!! :-D :-D :-D

Frank, you are right, some wheelchair occupants haven't a clue. I still remember having to jump onto a stall in a crowded market when one reversed into me without looking!! You have been busy today, wish I had some runner beans ready.

Lilyl, I bet you are relieved!! A bigger and stronger version of a Springer with all their energy and only 18 months old, it would be like a tornado arriving at your place!!! lol Poor Millie would be exhausted and expected to play all the time!! lol.

Liz.Puffin was only 6.She was an ex breeding Border Terrier. She had some terrible skin condition that is in curable and was in a terrible state .My friend was up all nights with her trying to stop her rubbing herself raw even with all the creams and baths.Margret also has major back trouble which makes her quite immobile at times.
I know she would not have made the decision to have Puffin put to sleep without a real reason. She is a true animal lover through and through .

I have now turned off all the machines and fans for the night......it is so quiet :-D.
I think Chris is going to have a big problem getting to grips with the fact we will be living with a total mess for months. He is one of these people who hates any kind of upset and disruptions.Just likes and needs a quiet life lol.I had words and said we are lucky that the whole house isn't affected like others who have been flooded out.So I have sent him off to bed with a little flea in his ear :-D
It took me a fair while to find where everything is plugged into !!!! They ran out of sockets so lots of extension leads :-S
Will say Night Night for tonight now x

I thought all was peaceful outside this evening ,so dished up dinner on the patio............NO. the flipping harvester was out getting the Wheat or whatever the crop is :-S :-S.....No peace for the wicked ,as the saying goes lol...........I'm not wicked ;-) Just a bit deaf now .I must ask James where those ear plugs are.

Hi All,

Not caught up with the posts yet. Had a disaster Monday evening. Was talking to SIL and BIL and said once again I could smell the oil. Oh went round and looked at the tank and it had acrack in it about a third of the way from the bottom. I paniced as we had just had 800 litres the week before and oh had been telling me it was because we had the tank filled that I could smell the fuel.

Oh had to go and buy an oil pump and a friend lent us a tank which he brought round on our trailer which he had borrowed. This morning oh went of to Holsworthy to get the pump (£130) and then he pumped the oil out of the cracked tank into the one that was lent to us. I went out with SiL and BIL to Bude today whilst all this was going on. While I was there the air ambulance came over the beach and the RNLI vehickle was on the beach and drove across and behind the dunes. The copter flew back towards the canal and disappeared. Don't know what had happened but I got a good shot of the copter.

Just had my shower and am now going to bed. Have to order a new tank tomorrow and oh dos'nt want it in the same place so has to build a new platform for it and I think it is going under the box hedge in the archway through it so you can't see it and it is away from the ponds.

More expence and more work for poor oh.

Night night.

Hope everyone is well. My tooth is a lot better.

LilyL

LilyL Report 15 Aug 2012 10:02

You poor things Mel, we had exactly the same thing happen to us some years ago and like you had just had a fill! Also we were only a field away from the river!!! OH rubbed a bar (!) of soap into the split and that kept it a bay while we sourced a new tank, got oil people over to pump it out etc etc! the worry was that oil would burst out and find it's way to the river!!!! All was well though, thank goodness you were, like us 'at home' think of being away if that happened - well, DON'T think of it, nightmare, or what?! glad the tooth is better.
Jane I am sorry about the little dog.Sounds like mange or something similar; poor lady, what bad luck. We had a rescue 9 month old Labrador/Red Setter years ago, and we had just got her used to us, she had been found wandering the streets of Newbury, not badly treated, but abandoned, probably by returning service personnel, (there was a US Base at Greenham), After about a year she started staggering, back legs giving way, and we had to have her put down! We all cried our eyes out (including my parents!) Apparently she had a crumbling vertabrae (spelling!) at the back of her head which was inherent in Red Setters! It seemed so hard that after all that poor dog had been through for that to happen to her - so I do understand how your friend must be feeling.
Brewing up to be a horrid day here, must batten down some hatches!!

Morning/Evening all,

Hope all are feeling better from aches andpains etc. this morning.

Dull here and wet wet wet.

Have to get on now so may be back later as we have to sort out a new oil tank.

Frank Report 15 Aug 2012 11:04

Morning one and all,

Liz, I think we are all going to get the wet stuff today. The sun broke through about 7.00 am, then the clouds came over and the breeze got up. Still very warm, Thursday night they expect 18 degrees. That's warmer than some days !!!!!

Ann, You should contact the local Council to complain about the dog's barking. They will send a letter to your neighbour about the noise, and send you a letter with a form to keep a record of the time it barkes and for how long. NO NAMES ARE MENTIONED, but believe me it works. I have done it on three occassions, and the noise stops almost immediatley. To the point that before you fill in the form THE BARKING HAS STOPPED.

Mel, I do hope you get the tank sorted, without any contamination to your garden from the leak, and not too much expence. Oil must be very dear these days. My first house was oilfired heating. That was in the 60s and the Slogan then was "BE A 70s householdwith oil fired heating.

Jane, When you go on holiday, will James be around to let the builders in, if they still require entry ??

Hello everyone,

I haven't read your posts yet. Yes, we had some trouble here after the Saturday night fiasco. More lies than anything, but yes the drink was a factor. Teenagers, grrrrrrrr.

Our weather has improved after the wild weekend. We have had 3 sunny days and no sign of the snake. The cats always look for it when they go out for a walk.

I didn't get to the optometrist as there was a huge blow up (LOL). I got myself so upset and sick, so appt. cancelled and rescheduled for next week.

Glad to see you back Pat. Hope Mocha enjoyed his doggie holiday too. Now I will go back and read all your posts. Have a good day, I miss the Olympics and all the sports; from all accounts it was a huge success. Well done London. 10.05 pm AEST

I'm home after a lovely long weekend with daughter and family. Weather wasn't great, but we managed to get on the beach one day. Will have to get back to my normal eating routine for the next few days before more gastronomic delights this weekend with my other daughter.

Haven't been able to read all the posts, hope everyone is well

Evening all,

Well i don't know where the rain has got to ,it's been a lovely sunny day.

Mel, what a god job you noticed the smell of the oil and found the crack in the tank, and lucky that your friend had a spare tank so you could pump out.
Have you got the new tank?

Kim, sorry to hear you had all the upset again at the weekend , just what you didn't need .

Maureen , did you get your paddle in the sea ? glad you enjoyed the weekend ,and now your off again you lucky thing :-D :-D

No Jane today ? wonder if the dehumidifiers have shriveled her all up :-D :-D LOL

Hello all at last.
I have a day of finally tackling the ironing and sorting things. No more for today I think.
Frank ,yes James will be in charge, but not sure if he will be able to let men in as he could very well be sleeping.I'm not sure what his rota will be.I am guessing that all the floor tiles will be up then and the drying out process still going on.

Mel ,that was rotten luck with your oil tank. :-S :-S

Kim I'm sorry you had more trouble with daughter and having to cancel your appointment. It is so unfair on you :-S :-S

Maureen did you get your dip in the sea that day?Or was it too chilly?
I am going to send you a PM in a while.

Liz my old dog Dodger had collapsed vertebrae and and they had been pressing on the nerves to his back legs.He had 2 massive ops to remove the vertabrae but sadly the damage was already done and irreversible so it was bye bye lovely Dodger. He was a rescue dog ColliexRetriever, such a smashing dog.We only had him for 4 years :-(.I often look at Chester and wonder how much longer we will have him .His back end is gradually getting weaker.

James has taken Jess back home to Chislehurst and he'll be home tomorrow. It's quite nice just me and the dog and all the noisy machines and fans lol

Dinner tonight is Pasta with my homemade sauce :-D.I think it is a success, but I will be adding chopped mushrooms and Lardons to it.A salad of our tomatoes and cucumbers and some garlic bread.

Chris has just arrived so better go and greet :-D
We had some thunder and a real downpour earlier.Quite a torrent.

I don't think so :-S So the machine will be filling up very quickly now.I had better check every hour I think.
Chester just had a lovely paddle .

Hi Everyone,

Nice to see you back Maureen! Glad you got on the beach one day and it is nice just to have a change of scene isn't it.

Oh no Mel, fancy the oil tank developing a crack. It's a good job you checked it after smelling it and lucky someone had one you could borrow till you get the new one. I didn't realise they could crack like that. Good your tooth is on the mend though.

I might need that option Frank, we are hoping to broach the matter with her when there's a chance, but I imagine her reaction could be 'it's a dog, what do you expect'. I think saying the dog is anxious and very distressed will be the best approach. I wouldn't mind taking it for walks or having it round our house when I'm in but I would be worried about it getting out as it would run off. She daren't let it off the lead and once it got out and it ignored all her calling to it. When she walks it, it is barking and jumping up at passing cars and bikes. One of these days I can see it charging at a big dog and provoking a fight.

Pat, that is a bit of a worry Mocha coming home with a limp. I wonder if they knew more than they let on! Glad you had a nice holiday, even if it was a bit hot.

Kim, you poor thing, you don't need all the stress making you sick like that. It must be a nightmare for you to cope at times. I hope you are feeling a bit better now. :-)

Jane, your old friend must feel lost now without her little dog. What a shame.

It was fine here this morning, but just after we went out this afternoon the heavens opened. We were forced to take shelter in a little tea shop and have coffee and a toasted teacake.....very nice. :-D It's stopped again now, but has saved having to water the garden tonight.

Think I will have a poke around my bead stash now as I haven't much to wear!!
