Sounds like the south has worse weather than us for a change. We don't have any snow.....yet!!

Won't last long though, it's forecast to come up here tomorrow and Friday.

Rita, I'm glad you stood your ground and got your money back, make sure that woman doesn't serve you next time.

Marilyn, how did the dinner go? Have you all had a nice time?

Sue, I'm pleased to hear the horse is going to be OK.

Shelly, did you wet the bed this morning? You were up early.

Linda must have rushed out today.

LG, have you got snow as well?

Pauline
you sound like a comparte for 20 questions it gave me a laugh thanks for that.
I will be very careful when I use the post office again i might even mark the note if I have to go to her and let her try and get out of that. I remember once someone had scribbled on a note I had been given at the bank and I told the man in the shop I had given him a note I canot recall what amout it was for and he said I had not I said well look and see if it has a scribbled bit on reading "bank it " he did and it was in the till. that was in Great Yarmouth. I was with my friend at the time who owned a hotel there and I had pointed it out to her.

so I will have to mark my notes. Lol

Rita Report 16 Dec 2009 20:45

your welcome La.
My sister went to the achives at Kew this morning as we are trying to find someone in 1918/1922 and while there she looked at the Electral roll for willesden and then they only listed people 21 and over she looked at the 1922 23 24 27 28 29 30-32 1932 1933 and we found some of ours who were over 21on it we also found some names we knew but didnt connect with the family well we now know they did she said it is so intersting but it appears that Willesden came under Harrow until 1923 when it changed to Willesden so if you search for that date or before you will need to try Harrow.
But I have now got my Maskells and Campbells Worsfold and Verinder. so I have now got things ro work on.

rita up till 1911 mine seemed too all be spelt mascall

Rita

Rita Report 17 Dec 2009 11:15

He He Shelly you should learn to type faster mind you I type fast but I am getting old and get my spelling wrong often now

Sue all the ones on the elecrtrol rolls at Metropolitan archives, are spelt Maskell from 1922 so pehaps they are different families. but all the traces we have up till 1933 are spelt that way, I am speaking of the ones in Willesden/Harrow and surrounding aera.s

My Dads family ancesters were Leigh's and then they changed to LEE I was born LEE but my Grandparenst way back to 1800's was spelt Leigh and their children were christen Lee. I have proof of it through marriage and birth records..from Devon Archives.

La

you will I am sure find something you have been searching for. the electrol rolls are good but you have to have some idea as to where they might be living the only thing is they dont always give that person frist name or initial. it is the initial I am searching for of Grandfather Landlady.
from Pound Lane Willesden.

I haven't done any work on my tree for a couple of weeks, I'll leave it till after Christmas now.

You seem to be doing well with yours Rita.

I think the difference in the spelling was because a lot of people couldn't read or write and it was left up to the numerator to spell names whichever way he thought fit.

I've got workmen here today so I'm stuck in for a while, I've got loads of things I need to do, so I hope the work doesn't take all day.

Shelly, I didn't ask if you went to bed - I asked if you wet the bed!

Hi Everyone,

Better late than never...

Well my Christmas dinner went down a treat !
My sister said if I was on the telly in the dinner party reality show she would have given me 10/10 ...LOL

Got my granddaughter today unexpectedly , so what I thought was going to be a busy day, has ceased ....now its playing games all day instead .!!
But we did make between us with a hell of of a lot more mess in the kitchen is a Turkey Stew with the Carcass and wings and anything else chucked in. .
Its smelling delicious and cant wait for tea time..

The sun is shinning here and it does warm up the house, but as soon as it goes on goes the heat .
See you all later....I have just been let on the lappy ..

Pauline is the workman doing the bedroom ?

Yes Marilyn, only one man doing it by himself, he's been here since 8.30am, it's taking him ages. The other men just come in and out all the time - leaving the front door open, and it's freezing. We've had snow storms all day.

Glad to hear your meal went well, are you inviting us to the next one?
