Hi Everyone,
Rita I used to go to the Strand opposite the old St Catherine house that held the BMD .And across the Strand Somerset House for all the WILLS, and I would sit all day and read whatever took my fancy. . I was really fascinated and it was quite cheap the read them , the Indexes give you a lot of info, without reading them all .. But now that all the BMD have been moved to North London I'm not sure where the Wills are situated ,....... even the BMD could have been moved somewhere else by now ..
Well I have had a busy day today and I'm going for my well deseverd bath that iss well overdue from this morning
So until tomorrow ...bye XX

Linda when I lived in Norfolk I use to go once every two weeks to a pub where they did meals and had a bar and they had this Elvis impersonator he was so good he appeared on the TV once he was based in Norwich and me being an Elvis fan I loved it. I have seen an Indian personator on TV I wonder if yours could be the same one ? I dont like Indian food . Hope you have a good time and enjoy you meal.
Marilyn your going back a long way mentioning that place it changed twice since then. I never thought to ask my sister to see if there were wills at Kew she is going there today if the w eather is not too bad she lives in Hampstead near the Heath (thats where I stay when I go to her ) we can get to Kew easy from there.

Morning All,
Oh I over slept today, it was lovely though. Got a busy day tomorrow I have got my Dad 95yrs & Step Mother 96yrs bopping along here for a Christmas dinner.
And my sister & Hubby and us so I have got preparations to do if anyone wishes to join us they are more than welcome.
Rita it was 30yrs ago that I started to trace my family and a short birth cert was £2-40p and a full one £4 so they have not gone up that much. I also used to go to the Genealogy Society in Kensington for all the pre baptisms records. Now you can find them ALL on line , how things have changed.
Shelly would have been great to have gone along with you to these public buildings....but don't think we would have got ANYTHING researched ..LOL
Linda ...cant understand why you have to have lucozade at your doctors ? it needs explaining ...LOL

hi Marilyn your going to be busy then today. you were just a teenager then when you started researching the family history Lol I didnt start mine till 6 years ago. My sister had to canel her trip to Kew Archives today as her daughter phoned to ask if she could mind her Granddaughter as she was ill and Kate had an appointment in town. she is an authoress.so my daughter has driven up to hertfordshire.
the postmas has just dropped things into my letter box 7 more cards and three parcels. I will have to sort another card hanger out for the wall as the other one is full. egg and chips for me today I dont feel like doing anything else. I have typed my letters and filled up t wo forms so thats it.I wanted to take my frontroom curtains down and put clean one up but when i came to do it found I could not t stretch that far so they will have to stay.

Hi Marilyn, Explanation: I have to have a Glucose Tolerance test( see's how quickly/ well your body deals with glucose) I have to fast for 12 to 16 hrs before test at 9:00 Then drink nearly a pint of Lucozade, remain fasting for 2 hours return to Dr at 11:00 for another blood test.
Then hopefully they can tell whether I am diabetic or not.
Add that to the underactive thyroid that I have had for about 20years and I shall rattle in the morning
Well we managed to get to M&S this morning......................... hubby treated me. I have a new skirt and top for tonights meal out, and Christmas day too(if I don't spill anything LOL. We also got new cushions for the lounge suite. The old ones were flat !!!
Had a coffee while we were there.
Out to see neighbours this afternoon. Before getting back to get ready for Elvis.
See you later

I have just come back from my doctors and he was very pleased with my Diabetic blood test , I'm (5point 8 ) and he said that's excellent !! Then my thyroid test was also excellent still to take 75grms.
BUT.... Zip-a-dee-doo-dah-zip-a-dee-ay.... (I have lost 1 stone 1 lb ) !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Girls it is snowing heavy hear I am glad I took my perscription in to the doctors early I went into the post office to buy a book of stamps and gave the girl £10 note she gave me change for £5 when I told her she said you didnt you gave me a £5 I said hang On I will prove it as I brought two bars of Chocolate for my son £3 gave her £20 and she gave me back £10 and £5 and £2 in coins I had tipped my purse out and looked to see if I had enough to buy the chocolate look I said do I have a £10 note in it she said I have only your word for it I said no I will ask the women to come and tell you herself as I came straight here (the sweet and paper section are in the same sjhop ) she changed her mind and pushed a £5 note to me. I said thank you we can all make mistakes I dont catch people ask the other two assistance on your PO counter they will tell you I have pointed out to them when they have over paid me . I was annoyed with her she is new to the PO. anyway I came out went into waitrose to get some bread and ham and it started to snow it is now coming down very heavy here in Surrey everywhere is snow on cars roofs and ground.
La that website is interesting it is http://www.willesden-local-history.co.uk they have meeting in the Scout House in Strode Road (I use to run a scout and guide group there in the 1960's) once a month they meet I cannot go as I am too far away but they have lots of links so I have sent a cheque off to become a member My sister is making a cd on Dads memories as a child as the tape the museum lost they lost two others as well belonging to other people one is a member of this FHS.

Rita what a cheeky so & so that girl was ...Yes we can all make mistakes but I think she needs to be retrained in till procedure , When I worked in a store we always had to put the note on a clip on the till and when giving the change back could see clearly what the customer gave. She could have been trying it on.....for her Christmas tip !! But I had to laugh Rita in your message you said you had a £10 note in your purse to the girl... ..I think you meant a £5 note !! because it was the £ 10 note that you gave to the girl ....LOL
Have I confused you all ????????
Back from the shops now cooking this Christmas dinner Slowly.......
Do you all cut your Brussels sprouts down the middle of the stalk as my mother always did ,only I saw a cook program where they did not bother ,just put them all in the pan .?

No Marilyn I said to the girl do I have a £10 note in my purse so she could see I didn 't I only had the £5 note then as I had given her the £10 note . I have never seen her there before the other two girls know me. one gave me a lot of money by mistake once and I said O your giving money away today then free. when I showed her she had given me £40 extra she said thank you for telling me a lot would not. that was when I use to collect my pension from the Post Office now it goes into my bank instead.another time I went to buy a sheet of postage stamps not for me but for a friend and she gave me two sheets for the price of one the sheets were stuck together we had a laugh over that I said not two stamps stuck together is there when I went in to buy stamps another time. I buy them in book form now,. she really didnt want to give me the fiver she owed me.
I will watch her in future when I go there.
I buy my brussell sprouts on a stalk use to buy them that way in Norfolk when I moved here I asked the manager where they had the brussell sprouts on the stalk he said we dont I said they sell them like that in Norfolk as you take them from the stalk the rest stay fresh as they are attached to their mother. he laughed but I notice they are doing that now in Waitrose. so I bought mine like that yesterday

Good job you have it all sorted I hope they all enjoy their Christmas Dinner. Good Health as I lift my glass to you all.
Sue I have news for you on my family Maskells in 1931 the year I was born they were living at 38a Beaconsfield Road Willesden. Albert Maskell and his wife Alice Florence Maskell and George Henry Maskell they lived next door to my Dads brother then they moved Uncle Sid moved to Harrow and the Maskell to the chuch house in Willesden St Mary Church that is. my sister did go to the Met Archives but we didnt find the person we were looking for but she did find alot of the family who we had little question marks at the side of. we found out cousin Clarence Campbell and his motther flo in Chaplin Road. Willesden also other cousins in 1927 living in Willesden the Worsfolds. and others so I am well pleased she managed to get there.
