Mandy, I bet she's smashing plates all over her kitchen floor. :-D :-D :-D :-D
Welcome to Cane and Wend. You will find us a good sort, always ready to take the Michael, and have a laugh.
Jane, I'm leaving my LEAVES till they all come off the big cherry tree. Still loadfs up there, and with my bad side. I ached for a few days after the last episode. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
I think I will come back as a Woman next time. Ros went out at 11 am came back 4.30pm I got her a cup of tea and a cake. At 6pm I dished up dinner, then rice pudding. I washed up and dried the plates and pots. I was just washing down the sink, when a body appeared round the door "CAN I DO ANYTHING" I don't think so, I said. It's all done, I ask you !!!

It's been quite a day today......Arkwright used to say that didn't he.
I was up at 6.00am this morning and down the hospital by 7.15am to join a queue!! The barrier had gone wrong so we all had to wait 15 min while a man tried to fix it. When we went in the machine wasn't issuing tickets so I didn't know how we'd get out?? I then tramped through to the other end of the hospital, to the right area, but there were no signs for the Clinical Research Dept I wanted. Went to the reception desk ......closed! I collared a medical person and he took me downstairs (poor knees winced!) and he said it is 'this' or 'that' way. I tried the 'this way' down a couple of long corridors and ended up at the Chapel and nothing else and fared no better with 'that way' either. I collared another medic and he told me everything to do with diabetes was upstairs. I found a lift and went to the next floor and followed signs for the diabetic clinic as I thought at least they should know where I needed to go. I then found a door with a temporary sign for the research study I was looking for and thought Hooray!! The door was locked so I gave it a couple of hard rattles and a nurse appeared and told me the clinic I wanted wasn't there!!! I pointed to the sign and she shook her head and said definitely not. She then rang for someone to collect me!!! When the nurse came I told her they needed better instructions and showed her my letter which didn't even say what floor to go to. I asked her why they didn't put any signs up and she started to say you couldn't put signs from every entrance to the hospital. I said it was much easier than that. Just ask everyone to go to the reception area of the Balmoral building and then put a few signs from there.......'simples' as they say on the telly. Anyway, after an age another chap on the study turned up saying he had spent 20 minutes walking around the hospital trying to find where to go too!! He said lucky for him the reception desk in the main building was open now or he'd have never found it. The nurses then went to put some signs up!!
They took 5 lots of blood and then after 2 hours another 2 lots!! Not surprising, my BP was up a bit on the first reading but fine on the last 2. The scales they use are very clever.....they tell you your weight :-S but also how much is bone, how much muscle, fat and water. I learned that I was a bit dehydrated last time and still am! I would never have guessed that as I thought I drank plenty. Fat had increased a little (boo hoo!!) but I had an extra kilo of muscle.....must be all the knee exercises I've done. They did say I shouldn't underestimate the effect of an underactive thyroid on weight, even when treated and not to get disheartened. Now I have to have a scan next week and wait for the rest of the results.
When I got near home the mare with her little foal were cantering around the field in fright as a digger had been brought in and was digging holes. I thought they were doing another archealogical survey. When I got home OH said our neighbour had been round to say the builders had won their appeal and the houses would be built. So much for the council saying it wouldn't be worth the builders appealing as the application would never go through!!!! :-S :-S We better brace ourselves for changes now. The poor old man whose long garden is next to the field is ill at the moment and his daughter daren't tell him about it in case it finishes him off. He has been plagued by builders every few months as it is for at least the past 10 years wanting to buy his garden for building.

Ann, We like to know how you get on at the hospital. Ours is very good they always put a map of the hospital, in with the appointment. Touch wood Ros and I have never got lost.
I see that Freddie Star is in hospital, after what he ate in the trial, I don't wonder at it. He certainly wound up the opposition. Telling how it all tasted, and where to be sick. But he is a bit of a winger.
Had the heating on tonight, it's turning cold in the evenings. I don't like it to hot, as I get myself all worked up and stressed. NOT GOOD
Kim seems to be having computer trouble, it crashed. She's now on a lap top.
Where's our Shirl today. Not like her not to have a go at me :-D :-D :-D

Morning All,
Sorry I did'nt get back on yesteray but I did'nt go shopping as our electric ciggies arrived in the post. I got a great lecture from oh on how to use it, from the charging of the batteries to the trying the flavours of the vaporisers. So far I have tried the tabacco flavour and the vanilla which is my favourite and to which he has ordered me some more. You get 5 flavours with your ciggy. Tabacco, Vanillla, cherry, menthol and Marlborough. Trouble is with it I am used to smoking little skinny cigs and this one is as big as a normal ciggy you buy in a packet. So today I have not had a ciggy YET! Watch this space. I had about three or four yesterday. Smack, smack, smack but that was before it arrived in the post.
Welcome to Cane and Wend and do pop in again folks.

Morning Mel
Cloudy day here,I haven't much to report, OH went back to the office today so this will be the first morning on my own since the operation, Both daughters and Sofia will be down for lunch. Have had a shower this morning , washed and dried my hair and then had to sit down for a while as even all that moving around tires me out, thankfully I can move around much easily though, but I am having problems trying to find what clothes I can put on , top halve no problem but can't stand wearing tights, leggings or any sort of trousers yet, as my stomach muscles are still a bit tender, even trying a bigger size bothers me and it's cold to go with nothing around my legs, and the heating is on. I wieghed myself this morning, and I am 6 stone 6ibs. I guess it's going to be a long process putting the weight back on. I think I will just pop my dressing gown back on at least I will be covered up.
Best of luck Mel trying to pack in the cigarettes, It must be really hard for you , non of my family smoke , but both daughters are trying to lose a bit of weight and thats not easy for them , can make them a bit irritable and snappy at times.

Forgot to tell you I am getting 10 new chickens this afternoon. Once again X Waitr**** layers which were going to be killed. My last 8 are not going to be happy chickies when they arrive!! I have to go this afternoon to pick them up from a friend. I always get so excited when getting new girls, it's like new members of the family.
My friend takes 100 chickens from a neighbour when he gets his new point of lay birds in so he can keep up his gate sales. When you get the point of lay they take a little while to get going!! Once they are in lay she gives the older chickens to whoever wnats any and so their lives carry on..........
If she gets left with any by the time everyone she knows had had theirs I said i may take a few more as she is not keeping any herself this year. Sucker for punishment I hear you say!! Yes thats me..... lean on Mel and she will take in all the strays going in the way of chickens.............

Well Done Mel, I decided to quite one weekend while in Barcelona, I bought 200 at Duty free, and sain that's the last ones I am buying. By Friday I ran out, Took my ashtry from my desk and thew it away. Never touched one since !! Thats over 12 years ago.
Fiona, Just keep eating what you can, and the weight will come, i am sure you must feel downhearted. But you will get there. If your aren't going out, what's wrong with being in your dressing gown, if you ate comfortable. No one can see you, and does it matter anyway. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I meant to ask ages ago. What is the researching at the bottom of some of the posts??? It for the person who is posting ????
Better morning here, thank goodnes. Need to go and buy the Electric bulbs this morning, another two went last light. It is always the same. One goes, they all go.. The trouble is I have sixteen that might all go. MORE EXPENCE

Morning All,
I was woken by the digger in the field this morning :-S The neighbours are all very 'down' about it. As OH said, the government have made a big thing about local democracy and people being able to influence decisions........then rode roughshod over us and the council's opinion! OH suggested I go and lie in front of the digger!! lol
Frank, we get a map too, but it's when you are inside that there is a lack of signs and then when the reception is closed there is no-one to ask. Yesterday even the medics didn't know where the department I wanted was! lol
I seem to have had a reaction to the antiseptic wipe they used yesterday.......big red blotch on my arm. I remember it happened at the doctor's once..............must remember to tell them next time.
OH is at the dentist for a couple of fillings and he wasn't looking forward to it at all.
Fiona, I think those scales I was on yesterday would have struggled to find any fat on you. As you gradually increase the more fattening foods your weight should go up and when you can be more active you'll build up your muscles. I suffered poor sleep and tired easily after my operation and although I did what I could I soon ran out of steam and had to rest a lot too. They told me that it could take 3 months to clear all the anaesthetic from the body. Hopefully you will notice little improvements all the time from now.
Cane, that was nice of your Nan to check you were ok. She must have fret a little so came to see for herself!!
Mel, good luck with the ciggies! Those chickens are lucky to have a new home with you........are they the same kind of chickens as your others?

Thanbks Ann. I did wonder.
Have been shopping and had a bit of lunch in Morriso##. I had Liver and onions with mash and peas. Can't think what Ros had, but she didn't like it, and left most of it. So no cooking for me tonight. We'll have a roll later. (BREAD ROLL)
Got my new Bulbs. in packs of 4 so bought 4 packs. Also some long life ones for a light in the kitchen. :
The sun is Murder to drive in, even as a passenger I had to hold a newspaper up to the screen. Just that awkward angle in the sky.

First off, it's lovely to see some new people on here, hope you keep chatting, loved the photo you put on Cane.
Secondly thank you all so much for your lovely cards and birthday wishes, I think you must have pressed the wrong button Liz ....... but got yours Frank and Ann sweet little singing cats ...... you all sent my two favourite things...... cats and flowers, Mel that sweet little ginger kitty was just how Alfie used to be, he is now becoming a smelly Tom, but he's my smelly Tom .... Your card arrived about a week ago Kim, and I was just about to open it when I saw the message on the back, so I was good and waited until yesterday
So, did you all think I was having a rave weekend with a rich Greek, I should be so lucky, the singer in the Greek restaurant my daughter said looked like Telly Savalas, he looked more like Uncle Fester to me. He was 60 if he was a day and kept eyeing a group of young girls at the next table. Even if he had been 'dishy' I was 40 years too late ...lol
No 'ahem' gentleman Ann, just the family, 11 of us in total, it was a great evening and I ate so much I had stomach ache, I was very good with the wine though, only drunk one bottle !!!!!
Did you think I was off somewhere being pampered yesterday, no, I was at the house all day sanding down doors, clearing up and being a general dogsbody then went straight off to pick up ironing.

It sounds like you had a very enjoyable evening Maureen with plenty to eat and drink. Your son didn't give you a day off for your birthday then...... mind you the more you do the sooner it will all be done. Your new pic looks good and I seem to remember having various tartan items as I grew up. I bet Shirl could tell us which clans they were for!!
Speaking of which, happy birthday to Shirl's son. Quite a get together with all of you Shirl. How old is your grandson.......I thought you just had the monsters!! lol I liked the Indian Art email, very talented.
Frank was talking about the crust end of the loaf being the nobby. I couldn't think till now what mum and dad called it........it was the noggin!!! lol
David, OH's fillings went very well. No injection needed which he was very happy about.
I have just fetched some washing machine cleaner as the clothes are seeming less 'fresh' after each wash despite trying a hotter wash. I think I better check the filter too.
