HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAUREEN <3 <3 <3 <3

Jungle was not as good as I thought it would be. Might catch bits as it goes on. Much perfer to see a good football march. !!

Mandy, a NOGGY. was the end slice of a real loaf of bread. Nice and hot straight from the bakers. All five of us kids argued over who would get it. As there are only two NOGGY'S fights often broke out. The local Bakers also did wonderful soft rolls, I would ride up there on my bike and get a bagfull of hot rolls for breakfast.

Kim, I bet you are burning up in that heat. We never see temperature like that on the hottest summer day. I think I would like it for a few days, but not a whole season.

I'm glad Chester has had a word with you, over his overcoat. WHAT were his actual WORDS ????

Ros is off out this morning with Carolyn, So will be home alone again. At least we don't get on each others nerves. I can read away, in peace and quiet. Will get the dinner ready for tonight. then thats me done.

Hows the roof going Mel, no accidents I hope.

Dull here and windy too so no roof work going on. Now he has taken down the trees at the west end of the bungalow it is rather exposed up there!!

Shopping day today and I want to get off a bit earlier again then I don't have to drive home in the dark.

Mandy what did your family call the end slice of any loaf then??? We always called it the Nobby and still do. OH likes one with his homemade soup. Was lovely taosted and spread with dripping but I did'nt discover dripping toast till I went home with a friend at lunchtime when I was at secondary school.

Frank, Frank Martin from the fish shop was my uncle. Lovely old boy. His name was'nt actually Frank!! He was my nans brother. Remember auntie Edie his wife?? White hair she had and she always gave me pheasants tail feathers at Christmastime. They would be in a tankard on the big mahogny furniture in the back room of the shop.

Happy Birthday Maureen! I hope my e-card arrived safely as I have a habit of hitting the wrong key!! Dull old day here, lots of work done outside yesterday, two overgrown FirTrees taken down, and a huge bonfire still smoldering. Thought 'Garretts Law' a bit slow last night, but I was VERY tired, so maybe attention defecit was alive and well!!!

Frank Report 14 Nov 2011 12:00

Yes Mel,
I think we have mentioned it before, was looking on that Web site you gave me sothing Firth. Lots of old photo's on there.

Rackhams Bakery was up by the village pond, next to the "Crown and Croocked Billet" Many happy hour spent round that pond. My Mum and Dad are burried in St Pauls Church yard. right next to the green. Do you remember the walk up to the church The avenue of Conker trees. I wonder if they are still there.

Just got the dinner ready for tonight, Pork in onions, and potatos on top to go all crispy in the gravy. Fresh cabbage, swede, and carrots. Might pop a Rice pudding in the botton of the oven. Mmmmm

Frank,I couldn't possibly tell the exact words Chester used about his coat.GR would ban me ;-) ;-)

Kim is this Kiara who has been got by the next door cat? Maybe thats what happened the other week when she was so bad.

Annx yes did take up the challenge to post on different threads. Quite interesting chatting to different people all of who were very welcoming.
Frank have you sorted your typing problem? It sounded as if you had the insert key pressed down.
Maureen Happy birthday, have a lovely day.
Jane, I had virol and also cod liver oil and malt which I actually liked. But syrup of figs was the 'opening' medicine of choice for my family (although not for me I hasten to add, I hated it.)

Wend

Wend Report 14 Nov 2011 15:46

Just popping in to say hello to everyone. I used to love Virol and frequently had to have Syrup of Figs to keep things moving! Liked that too though. Very dull here in Sussex to-day, but I'm off out now to sweep up some more leaves before it gets dark. I've spent far too long on my tree to-day - once I start, I find it hard to leave it alone!

Will pop in again if that's OK.

Hi Wend and Cane.
Oh Virol!! YUK.Just the memory of that stuff gives me the shivers :-S

Leafs Wend ! Tell me about them. Our drive is a thick carpet of them at the moment.I must do something about them tomorrow. Then the next day it will be the same again :-| :-|.I remember as a child lying in a huge pile of leafs and covering myself in them.I am never sure if we say leafs or leaves :-S :-S

I have lit the fire as it is so dark and miserable this afternoon. It is smelling lovely with the logs.Chester is stretched out in front of it snoring away :-D.
My new fire guard that we bought on holiday looks really nice too.

I really need to start thinking about Christmas pressies, but haven't a clue what to get everyone. It's always a problem :-S
At least my sister and I agreed last year we would not do presents anymore.I just give to Fin and Amelia now.

Oh now i know Frank, we always call it the crust Mel, our little bakery (before it closed ) use to sell a bag of crusts ,not everyone wanted them on their bread .

I see Freddie from the jungle has been taken to hospital, seems as if he had a bad reaction to some thing , but they don't know what !!!

Kim, your poor little cat , she's really going through it , give her a cuddle from me .

Two new names i see :-) Hello , hope you stay with us and give us some of your memories.

Where's the birthday girl? you don't think she's found a rich Greek !! she was going out for a Greek meal ,over the weekend :-D
