Afternoon Everybody,

Not many around yet is there. Frank, enjoy a nice relaxing day won't you and don't get up to any mischief while Ros is out will you. She won't be impressed if she comes home to find you have dived into the pond!!

Kim, glad you have been in the fresh air pruning for a bit. It will have done you good. Joy sounds too fiesty for her own good at times, but it probably keeps her going. I hope your daughter manages to do some revision........pity for those years to be wasted like you say. Those carbon taxes are having an awful effect by the sounds of it. They are talking here now of there being no free banking in the future and paying £15 a month for your bank account!! That is probably like 'tuppence' a month to the folk who decide these things but not to the elderly, the widowed, the unemployed, the disabled or single parents.

OH's car won't be fixed till tomorrow now as the garage can't fit it in today.......luckily his footie match is tomorrow, not today like I thought.

Better get a shift on now and test my back on some dreaded HW!!! :-P :-|

Here I am
I've been busy today so have stayed away from the pooter :-D
Ann if they start charging for bank accounts that will drive some folk to start keeping their money under the mattress or in biscuit tins again :-S.When I was with victim support I had to visit so many people who had had their life saving stolen by burglars.that would be a really bad move if it happens.

It seems to be hotting up again now ,and yet most of the day has been bearable for me.Last night was so hot and sticky and very uncomfortable. And my right leg has been attacked by those midgy flies :-S :-S.From my ankle to my knee :-| :-|.It is so hard not to scratch.

Poor Merlin Liz.Some of the horses in the field opposite us look like they are ready for Medieval Jousting.Covered from ears, eyes all the way with special anti fly things. They just need riders now with the jousting poles :-D.It must be dreadful for them all .

Frank I'm sure you be able to rustle up some gourmet meal for yourself :-D.What a shame about the Roast Beef :-S

Kim I bet that bucked you up being able to do a bit in the garden :-D
I hope Joy doesn't think she can get away with just using one stick now her family have gone.Maybe she just used her frame to yours so that the family could see was doing it right and thought she was safe to leave now lol
I must away now as I need to try and get hold of our Loss Adjuster .I have been trying for a while and haven't been able to get through so will have another try.

Kew Gardens has just come home :-D :-D :-D I bet that voucher never went far. !!!! I won't ask ;-) ;-) ;-)

She did buy me a case of beer on the reduced counter 20 bottles of STELLA for £6.45. A pair of shoes that don't fit and a Choc and wallnut cake (which I won't eat)

Have just watered KEW GARDENS and the Patio, found loads of slugs on the front garden, that are now sitting in the middle of the road, for the evening homecomers to run over !!! I HOPE

We have still got flowers on the strawberry plants. so might get a few more if this weather continues.

No misshaps Ann, I stayed safe and sound reading my book most of the day "THE GODFATHER" I have read it years ago and seen the film two or three times but still enjoy it.and "A little of what you like does you good"

Doing the remains of the beef tonight in the oven with onions and gravy. If it's no good this time, I will be as sick as a pig. !!!

I will be off for a walk this evening, I will drop of the repeats at the Doctors, then stroll down to the pub for football. Man Utd V Everton, come on the toffees . Sorry Shelia !!!
Might pop back when I get home.

Just cooked the first runners,as there were a few left over from James's dinner I had a taster.OMG they are delicious. :-D :-D.I just hope we get the chance to eat loads before we go away.

Frank you ungrateful old so and so lol.Ros was thinking of you :-D

I just see on the News a little boy from here has drowned at Burnham on Sea.Only 4 years old :-(..it sounds awful to say but I hope his family aren't Chris's patients.
It is very selfish of me but don't want Chris having to cope with something like this just before his hols.

Must go and shove something in the oven for the 2 of us.I think Pork Steaks with Mushrooms and Peppers.Plus a ready foil tray thing of rosemary potatoes.

Jane Report 20 Aug 2012 18:56

Sheila ,still not a drop of the wet stuff here.It is a lovely clear blue sky at the moment and it feels just a little fresher
:-D
I spoke to my friend who lost her little dog and she is ok but sooooo sad.She is so loved by so many people where she lives, she even had flowers from the children at the little village school. She won't have another dog now even though she would love one.I have known her since the early 70's and she always had a dog and doted on each and every one of them.

I have just realised I should not keep my veg in the garage while the dryer is in there.
They are all going off !!!!!.I was just lucky enough to get enough from all the peppers. All the rest is on the way to the compost :-S.What a waste!!!

Hannah rang earlier and said she sat on a nest of red ants at the weekend!!!!!!!
I asked her if she had Ants in her pants....She said they were almost there, but has been bitten so badly. They are little devils.Touch wood I haven't seen a red one for a long time.

I see we have been hotter than HONOLULU .(sheesh!!)

Evening all,

Been lovely and sunny again after a cloudy start , hubby had the afternoon off so we went to the coast , my goodness so many people on the sands ,i love seeing all the little ones with their buckets and spades ,chucking the sand over each other :-D

Ann, love the necklace and ear rings ,your sister should be thrilled with them ,it's funny i was only thinking yesterday that i had seen any thing that you had
made lately :-D :-D
Then i thought well you've been busy in the garden.
The fly was so pretty ,and what a brilliant blue .

Kim, you must feel very pleased that you've managed to do a little outside in the garden ,don't over do it though.

Goodness Frank, where are you planting all these plants that come home with Ros LOL
Your garden must look a picture .

Jane i saw on the news about that poor little boy ,lets hope they find him soon ,what those parents are going through i carn't even begin to think about ,just awful for them .
Oh poor Hannah, those red ants can really nip!! Ants in your Pants ,haven't heard that for awhile LOL

Where's our Mel today ??

David

David Report 20 Aug 2012 20:55

We had ants indoors, must have come through an air brick?
The whole street had them.
The Council sprayed something down and they quickly vanished.

We had RSPCA knock on our door a couple of months ago, fund raisers. We give the £3.50 a month by direct debit.

They were telling us that a cat had been found dead near our previous address, presumably poisoned.Distressing as we used to leave food out at night for stray cats and hedge hogs.

We had a good shower of that fine rain this morning but nothing since and it was a lovely sunny evening........but aren't the nights drawing in now! :-(

Frank at this rate you will be able to open your garden to the public!! Ros will be busy planting again now, but how nice it must all look! I could just eat a slice of that cake she got for you. :-D Pity about the shoes, but I'm sure you will enjoy the beer! :-D

Mandy, I bet it was lovely by the sea today. You must have a choice of beaches you can go to and all that fresh fish you can buy too!! Yes I have been VERY busy on the garden lately....no time to do much of anything else like jewellery or photography. We had a day off today though as OH had 'pulled' something in his side, scrabbling under his car yesterday. We just did some errands and supermarket shopping this afternoon.

Hannah will be on the lookout for those red ants now Jane and watch where she sits!! lol. We had the red ones in Staffordshire and their bite is much worse than the one the black ones give. I hope your bitten leg isn't too bad or too itchy.

My friend has to dress one of her ponies up like that and they do look as if they are ready for medieval jousting!! lol. Hers is allergic to the bites it gets from the midges by the stream in the field. It gets what is called 'Sweet Itch' which drives them mad. Their skin comes up all in lumps and they can rub all the hair off their manes and tails, so it is better for them to be covered up so the midges leave them alone.

I want some beans too!!! They are about 4 inches long now so there should be some to pick soon.

Liz, thanks for the pics they came through fine. Stella looks a lovely dog and well up for playtime!! I bet the children love her. Your 'inherited roses' look very nice and probably have a lovely scent too. So often walking around garden centres you smell the new varieties and there is no scent at all.

We just get woodlice inside David. I would hate to have ants. I don't know where the woodlice come from and thought they would go when we changed to nearly all hard floors but they didn't!!

Think I will be off to bed now......the computer seems to be giving off so much heat I am sweltering!

Hi All,

Did'nt feel too good this morning when I woke up and then just after having a cuppa oh whisked me off to Homeleigh garden centre. Asked if I wanted lunch early and I said No !! We got the fish food ad came home after calling in to get a sack of corn for the chickens.

Just pottered around dthis afternoon while oh mowed the lawn. Saw the psesant who only has one chick left. She had two for ages but only one now........... :-( :-( :-(

Ann thanks for the pic of the neckless and earrings. They look great and I am sure your sister will really love them. The damsel fly was just like we get in the garden and we also get red ones. They are not so bright and shining as the blue.

Our budlea ?? was covered in butterflies today while oh was mowing so I shot out with the camera to see if I could get a good pic or two. There were about five different kinds. Some pics were very blurred but a couple are ok. Will see if I can send them tomorrow.

Did'nt go shopping so have to go tomorrow.....ugg.

See you in the morning I hope..

Morning/Evening All
I hope you are feeling brighter this morning Mel and Pat sounds like you had a hectic weekend you are probably worn out. :-S .This weather has been tiring too hasn't it.
I didn't get sticky when I was out with Chester so it was much more pleasant.

I feel today is going to be one of those when I can't settle to doing all the things I should be doing :-S.But while I decide what I will start on I will have a cuppa :-D

Annx

Annx Report 21 Aug 2012 11:50

Morning All,

I seem to be hotter inside today than I was at the weekend. :-S The back door and all the windows are open now. OH is at the garage.....he said his 'tape' job on the car lasted till he got there and they are sorting it while he waits.

Looks like MORE EXPENSE with one of the toilets too. When you flush the water still keeps running for ages while the cistern is trying to refill. :-S Can't have that happening.....not with a water meter, especially if packs up and won't stop at all!!

Hope you are feeling better now Mel, OH felt a bit dodgy yesterday. I think he may have been out in the sun and heat too long over the weekend. Thanks for identifying the Damsel Fly, I wasn't sure what it was, only that it wasn't a Dragon Fly. They are really colourful aren't they and I have never seen a red one......will be looking out for one now. lol.

Having just sorted seeing my sister on Thursday, I realised I have a hair appointment that day as well, so have had to change it and the earliest date I can get is the first week in September!. It will look like I have slept in a hedge by then! Now I see OH has a meeting he didn't tell me about the week we were planning to go away in September..........some days you feel you are just going backwards instead of forwards don't you!! lol.

Pat, you picked a few good days to be at the seaside and it is nice to have a paddle in the sea. It must be quite a worry with garden plants and small children or pets. So many of them are poisonous it seems. As kids I remember me and my friend trying the taste of some things!!! We only tried things we'd seen animals eat though like sucking the nectar from the bottom of clover segments, dandelion leaf and eating new Hawthorn shoots because we'd been told poorer people would eat those on sandwiches years ago. We knew all about deadly nightshade, Laburnum, Hemlock and not to touch toadstools.

I am much the same Jane, loads I could do today, but not really in the mood to do much of it!! :-S Another cuppa might help me decide I think! I can get lots done when OH has set off for the match at Brackley later. It seems a shame to be 'in' when the sun is shining!! :-D

Frank Report 21 Aug 2012 12:19

Afternoon all,

Didn't get back on last night, Haqd a good drink, and watched a good match. Everton 1 ManUtd 0 even better. !!!!

I slept like a log last night. In bed by 11.30 pm out at 6.00 nature call. back in and settles down till 10.00 am.

Ros is in the garden, making space for all these plants. When they are in I will take photo's

Ann, We had the same trouble with our toilet. IT'S THE WASHER ON THE FILL INLET. Go to the plumbers merchant. with the make of the toilet and tell them the trouble, they should be able to tell you how to replace it. It took Harver less than 5 minutes to do ours. I thought I needed a new cistern !!!(MORE EXPENCE)

I bet Hannah will be more carefull where she sits in future. :-0 :-0 :-0

Coming over cloudy now, but they do forcast a cooler day, with showers.

This white background is playing havoc with my eyes. Everything keeps going blured !!!

Same here Frank and I don't know how to make the screen darker and oh will get annoyed if I do. I really got on well with the pale green background and could stay on all day but now I can't.

Also green and mauve are two of my favorite colours. Wear a lot of them together as does Ann I beleive??

Afternoon everyone,

Not a bad day here ,it was a little cloudy first thing but the sun is out now.

I have a pile of ironing to be done, i left it while it was so hot and now its built up ,have just washed the floors over so waiting for them to dry off.

Mel, hope you feel better today , you've had a busy time just lately with all your visitors , coming and going , that's probably tired you out .

Pat, don't you think a paddle in the sea makes your feet feel lovely ,like walking on air ,i suppose its the salt !!

Well i think my floors must be dry by now.

Toad in the Hole tonight hubby's favourite ,thought we would have it as its a bit cooler ,got some nice Runner Beans from a chap who has an allotment so looking forward to them .

Most of the plants are in now, I have made up three watering cans of feed, and waterted them all in.

Dug a root of "PINK FUR APPLES" this morning, got about 10 tennis ball sized spuds. perhaps a bit smaller !!!! Also another root of ordinary pots, good size now,

NO COOKING TONIGHT. The F & C van comes tonight, so will have a bit of that !!!!

Mandy the clouds have been over us all afternoon, now starting to clear away, so might get a bit of sunshine now, had it been sunny, it would have been too hot for Ros to work. ;-) ;-) ;-) and we can't have that, can we.!!!

Mel, I passed on the info from Genes about darkening the screen, but it didn't work for me, did it work for anyone ???

Frank those pictures are lovely and not a weed in sight !!! You should see our beds :-S
I have had problems seeing some of your emails Don't know why. They seem to look as they are just about to start and then they are gone....just like that!

It's getting a bit muggy again now.Bit sticky.
James had the first Chillie Pepper from the Greenhouse with his dinner tonight.I don't do Chillies at all. There are plenty more and all looking good.

I was lucky enough this afternoon to get in to have my eyebrows tidied. They had just had a cancellation.Thursday is a haircut. So I will be all hunky dory and ready for my hols :-D

My friend who lost little Puffin has said she won't decide yet but she doesn't think she can live without another dog.I really thought she would say never again.I think it will be another Border Terrier BBL
