Frank they told us that if a table was laid and had the sign on then it was booked. Their menu was'nt that good anyway. Not a lot of choice. Not like the pub in Sheepwash which is about 3 miles away from us which has a menu so long it takes you a week to read it and what a choice. They even do roasts all week which suits me fine as oh is not a roast dinner man. He loves prawns and crab and lobster and all things fishy really but I don't.

Afternoon everyone ,

Lovely sunny day here and hot !!!

Had the family here yesterday ,Jake and Chelsea went in the pool , son didn't he thought it was too cold !! the little ones had about half an hour in there and had a great time ,we pumped up a small dingy and they spent time in that just paddling themselves round and round .

Nice to get the carpets done Frank, it does freshen up the room after they are done, washing my curtains has made the room smell nice and fresh too, the only trouble is i think i twisted my side putting them back up !! its been a bit sore and feels like i'am nipping my side when i sit down :-S :-S

I notice that our Indian restaurant puts people in the window seats first !! even if its only two people ,i suppose they think it looks good ,glad you got a meal in the end Mel, and you enjoyed it ,much better than you having cook :-D
How long are your visitors with you this time?

I'am wondering whats in the post for Jane too Frank......Dehydration Tablets maybe ?? :-D :-D LOL

Think i'll have a lolly now cool me down a bit . BBL

Mel, That was a lovely thought to send Jane some cream. Help to put a bit of weight on her, that she has lost from her dehumidifiers !!!!

Mandy aren't you the lucky one <3 <3 <3 The sun pops out for 5 minutes and then the clouds come over. Still warm in the wind, and Ros got all the washing dried. I got it in and folded it all ready for her to iron.
Was just having forty winks, when the Bl####y kids next door started with their balls two of them. BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE. I gave up and went in the kitchen to get dinner prepared. Will be glad when they are back to school.!!!!

Didn't have a good night last night. was awake three or four times and up before 7 am. No wonder I am old GRUMPY this afternoon. I snaped Ros's head off :-| :-| :- | She's not a HAPPY BUNNY at the moment. I did sday SORRY. !!!

Oh Yuck Yuck Yuck.I have just pulled up the flooring stuff from the .It just peeled off easily as it was so wet(not from our leak ) but from another leaky tap.It is the tap we have to turn on to use the hose in the garden. We have to keep a jug under it as it drips badly when turned on.I forgot to turn it off the other day and the jug was overflowing.Anyway when I pulled up the lino or whatever it is called there were MILLIONS of dead Chuggypigs ,plus plenty of live ones too.It was gross :-S :-S :-S

Mandy the sun only came out here about an hour ago and now it has almost gone.
What a lovely time for the Children in the pool with the little dinghy :-D

Mel I have sent you the email you asked for.
That Cream is lovely .I couldn't resist and stuck my finger in the pot :-D :-|

I ordered the tiles this morning and have just had to pay a very small deposit. They will just hang on to them when they come in until we are ready for them.Might be next year at this rate lol

Oh Dear Grumpy Frank today then :-S.I hope tonight you get a good nights sleep.I bet Ros hopes so too :-D

I suppose I had better think about dinner now so BBL

Donkeys years ago the River Tyne was always humming in the summer months ie it stunk.
Also at the east side of the city was a bone yard. The bones were boiled down to make glue.
When the wind was blowing in your direction :-S

Jane

Jane Report 17 Aug 2012 19:01

Nothing worse than a big stink blowing your way is there :-S.We had it for years here.I think it was that recycling plant that caught fire(twice). Now it's gone the only smells we get is the Weetabi* factory(normally means rain is on the way) and it is not a bad smell. The other we get is when the farmer sprays the fields and that is not nice :-S

The smell of pig manure Mandy always reminds me of Plasticine for some reason.
Takes me right back to school days.

Frank are you in a happier mood now??

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Aug 2012 19:05

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Aug 2012 19:11

Jane it is a funny thing but we get some smells from the farms around here sometimes and I always say it smells like plastacine and you are t h eonly other person who thinks so. Oh does not agree.

Did you have your cream with the strawberries and raspberries? Might have to buy myself some now!!

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 17 Aug 2012 19:21

No this is nothing like a Plasticine smell, this is just a stink!!! :-P

I'd like to try an Indian some time ,its years since i tried some ,i carn't even remember what we had .
We had Cajun Chicken tonight with salad and chips.

Hubby has gone to look at a job this evening so i'am on my own ,its nice and quiet so might have a read outside ,its nice and sunny out there now .

Jane Report 17 Aug 2012 19:52

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of Plasticine when we get a pong Mel
Must get some Potato wedges in the oven.We have Chicken Breasts stuffed with red pepper and some kind of cheese and a bag of micro veg.I can't be bothered to prepare veg tonight.

My Sister just rang and says she thinks that Jo(Williams Mummy) is not looking too good at the moment. She has had 7 lots of Chemo now .

Where I lived when I was first married there was a pig farm (now a garden centre)just down the road. It really ponged at times like you say Mandy......believe me it was nothing like plasticene! :-0 :-0 Even the local football team was called Niffy Rangers, something to do with an old custom of carrying a pig through the village I think.

The biggest smell around here is when Ever*rds (half a mile away) are brewing and the smell of hops is everywhere then. I quite like it at first, then it gets a bit sickly. Muck spreading time gets me shutting the windows too and I hate driving on the roads lined with oilseed rape. The school bus years ago used to go past Frears and B*acks the biscuit people and that area always smelt sweet and sickly.

Frank, I hope you are back in favour after snapping at Ros. More and more of us seem to be needing earplugs lately!!! :-D :-D

I met up with 2 old work friends for brekkie this morning and we had a right old giggle and natter and reminisce. The one whose horse was ill with strangles said he is much better now and she has just started riding him again after 5 months. She said he was so ill she thought she might lose him and had to give him daily antibiotic injections. Despite being ill, as soon as he saw the needle he would show her a faceful of hooves and he is very big!!

My runners are now about 4 inches long..........might get some to eat before the frosts arrive yet!! It seemed to get dark very early tonight......is summer nearly over?

I'm off to watch the programme about the truckers driving on the mountain roads in Peru that I recorded. Should be a bit scary with the sheer drops and hairpin bends!!

I hope Fiona is improving and where is William with the latest saga?

Jane

Jane Report 17 Aug 2012 21:13

I have my eye on the first Beans Ann.A few are about 3 inches.I just want them to grow big enough so we can have some before our hols in 2 weeks.

I have turned off all the machines and fans at the moment as James is having trouble with his pooter(and he is 'at work').Just in case all the power being used is affecting things. So i will switch off here now too ,and say Night Night xx

Many year ago in Newcastle was the Cattle Market near the end of Scotswood Road not far from the city centre.
Near the Cattle Market were a couple of abattoirs.
Next to the Cattle Market was The Empire Bacon Company.
Whole carcasses of pig used to be dipped in boiling water then shaved of their body hair. All this this next Marlborough Crescent bus station.
It's amazing the smells you can get used to.

Jane

Jane Report 17 Aug 2012 21:43

I'm glad I didn't live there David......I recall the glue factory .Now am I right in thinking it was animal bones used for the glue?

I am definitely switching off now,but a big thanks to Mel for adding the the topping to our pud tonight :-D :-D Tasty Tasty very very tasty.(were those the words in some advert????)
