Morning All and Evening Kim,

Well if you lot have a heatwave could you please send some down here to deepest Devon as it is raining cats and dogs here and has been since the early hours. It sounds like we have a waterfall outside as the back door is open and I can her the water coming off the back of the bungalow. Oh took the gutter end off as it could'nt cope with the flow of water so it just comes out like a small stream onto the ground.

I hav'nt been and let the hens out yet as each time I think I shall go it pours down even harder.

Oh has gone ringing for service and this is me time.

Ann hope the back is easier today, take it easy and no bending and twisting.

Kim good that Joy ventured out a little way to have her hair cut. It must have been nice to have a little chat for both of you.

Morning all/evening Kim.

Oh how hot it was last night. I sat in bed reading till 12.30 am Tried to sleep on top of bed, without success. Windows all open but still awake at 3.30 am Ros said I woke here up talking in my sleep. Giving directions to someone of how to get to our house. She said it was very precise, and she could understand every word. Good job i've been a good BOY !!!! I woke with cramp at 6.10am and gave sleep up as a bad job. Came out into lounge, Opened all doors and widows and put the fan on.

All veg done for dinner tonight. Which will be LATE. Can't eat in this heat.

Ros is already out in the garden so better go and see if I can Help. Hope she says NO <3 <3 <3 <3

Weather here in Wiltshire, a bit unpredictable! First thing it was glorious sunshine, but now it has clouded over and threatening rain!! Very hot though, so washing is out on the line and I've just mown the grass! Yesterday it was the same, brightening up in the afternoon, so here's for hoping! OH has just sprayed Merlin as he is being besieged with flies, I feel so sorry for him, swishing and stamping to try and keep them away from him! even in the barn they seem to follow him and torment him! Lets hop the spray works.
Jane I was so sorry to hear about William's mum! I do wish there was something someone could do for her - it's just so cruel. I thought of you yesterday! I was in C##t, and I managed to buy a clip on light for my Kindle! Like you, I sometimes like to read in the night so it should be very useful
I expect you've all read about the death of Winnie Johnstone? That poor poor lady/family; As for that dreadful 'creature', words fail me!!
Oh, here come the sun! I'm back to the garden!

Hubby has been doing a few odd jobs and we're going in the pool in a while to cool off.
We will eat later too, when its hot you don't feel like eating to much .

Liz I just feel so sad that Winnie Johnstone has died without knowing where her son was buried.I bet that evil monster is smirking :-S :-S

Just going to have stuffed mushroom for lunch. They are just out of date so need to be eaten up.I was going to do meatballs tonight ,but that is tomorrow now and it will be pasta bake with Ham and mushrooms this evening.

Mushrooms ready now

Oh dear, spoke too soon - phone has jut gone, Laura's friend now says she can't keep 'Stella' as they're going camping and haven't got room for her in their car!!! - SO, they're dropping her off at 7.30 this evening!! Feel a bit cheesed off, and think I sounded less than enthusiastic! At least I haven't had her for the whole time but she'll be here for two weeks!
Must go and put dinner on, need to eat before our 'guest' arrives!!

Well i was all ready for the pool when there was a huge clap of thunder and the heavens opened !! huge spots of rain , doesn't matter about the rain but i didn't fancy being in the pool with thunder going on !!

Looks like its here to stay the sky is really black .

Jane Report 19 Aug 2012 14:31

Oops Liz!.Did your heart sink??Bless her little cotton socks.Maybe this heat will sap some of her energy so she won't be as bouncy lol.Or is that just wishful thinking?

None of us have any energy at all today.Just flopping about like limp rags.I am in my pants and loose cotton top.I hope James doesn't turn up with his mate. The only trouble with having the lounge at the back of the house is I can't see anyone coming down the drive so have no warning :-S
I think I'm going soak my feet in some lovely cool water.I always think if my feet are cool it helps with the rest of me :-D

LilyL

LilyL Report 19 Aug 2012 15:27

Yes Jane, my heart did sink! and I'm afraid that it sounded in my voice!! i feel a bit mean as Stella is a lovely girl, not a nasty bone in her body, BUT she is lively! and I'm NOT and neither is Millie!! Mind you we have a lot of outside space here for her to run about in,so perhaps it won't be too bad!!!
Gosh, it is SO hot here, sun right out and no wind to speak of! washing dried and put away and lunch cooking, roast lamb etc, not that I'm that hungry, but at least we shall be fed and watered in good time!!
Merlin seems happier!!! :-)

Too much info. Jane. At least I am in shorts :-D :-D :-D

Ros has realy had a go on the big boarder. We have filled the green bin, and so far three black bags of rubbish and bind weed.(how do you get rid of the Bl###y stuff ??) I have mowed the back lawn, and trimmed the edges.

I think they should beat the information out of that BA####D. So at least the family can put a closure on this murder. I know it's 48 years ago, but how that family has suffered.

Mandy, Thunder won't hurt you while you are in the pool.

I was sitting in my lounger, reading my book, when down came RAIN DROPS the size of tea cups. The size of the on the patio was unbelievable big :-D :-D I grabbed the cushion and ran in the conservatory. All clear now so Ros is backin the garden. She will suffer tonight, this is when you need a bath, so you can get a good soak.
Will have to make do with a shower and a rub down. (who am I kidding)

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Jane Report 19 Aug 2012 18:24

I'd love a few raindrops here right now and just stand in it.I watered all the tomatoes and pots just now with the hose and turned it onto the fine spray aimed it up in the air and then stood under the mist as it came back down.Ooh it was heaven :-D :-D .

Mandy maybe you could have a dip later and cool off instead of having a shower. That would nice.
I am sitting on a towel on the settee as my legs are sticking to the leather. That is the downside of a leather suite.

My old Olive tree is producing more and more leaf, and my new tree has tons of weeny olives :-D :-D.I hope they grow to full size.

I have had to turn off the dehumidifier in the kitchen again this afternoon as the heat from that and the high temperature has just been too much and it was like a sauna.I'll turn it back on once I have finished using the oven this evening.

I could quite fancy some of your Roast Beef tonight Frank. But will have to make do with the Pasta Bake

Tomorrow is the day Fiona has her scan .I think she said it is just after 9 in the morning.I hope it goes well for her <3

It's now a lovely sunny evening out there ,didn't get in the pool ,we decided to put the Gazebo up ,we had to work out which pole went where ,but we did it in the end .

The daughters of our neigbour were in their pool next door ,having a fine old time ,the water pistol came out and once or twice the water came over the fence :-D

I think our neighbours had gone diving again, he's supposed to be disabled ,don't think there's much wrong with him :-S he doesn't work , i think he just knows how to work the system !!

They seem to have everything ,new car ,a new motor bike each ,and holidays abroad , it annoys hubby to think he's working to keep him !!!
Sorry rant over :-S :-S

Time for another drink i think , i don't know how many glasses i've drunk today ,and i haven't been to the loo!!!

I hope all goes well for Fiona tomorrow <3

Evening all,

Just in from watering the garden and patio plants.

Ros is all showered ans in her nightdress, watching tele.
I'm all showered and in my clean shorts. With a cold beer to hand.

Mandy, Every time you pick up a paper there are reports of these so and sos milking the system. There are a couple of families round here that could do with a KNOCK on the door, by the authorities. But they seem to get away with it. One who always pleads poverty, has a new car, new windows, conservatory, and a GARDENER that comes every two weeks. I could do with a bit of that :-| :-| :-| :-| They say what goes around comes around, we will wait and see.

The Roast beef was a disaster. Tough as old boots, but the veg and pudding was A1. Ros has got a Chinese in the fridge, so she might eae that later. I will get a Salmon sandwhich when I am ready for it.

Carolyn has been to Brussels for a few days, got back last night. They ,her and Ros will be off out for the day tomorrow. I bet the Garden Centre will be a port of call. Ros found a £25.00 voucher from Christmas, so that will go towards what she spends.

Hope all goes well for Fiona tomorrow morning, Jane is you speak to her, give her my LOVE <3 <3

Going to sit on the Patio now to cool down.

See you in the morning.

Evening All,

Glad you have been enjoying the sun......not too hot for you is it? :-D lol. I was saying to OH today how brilliant I feel now I don't get those awful flushes anymore and don't feel boiling hot all the time. No trickles down the back even walking about in today's heat, but my neck was a bit damp when we were out earlier.

Liz, I always felt sorry for my ponies when the flies were driving them mad. They always go for their eyes. I remember soaking cloths in a det*ol mix and wiping their faces, legs and tummies. It seemed to give them peace for a short while.

The back seems a lot better today thanks Mandy, hope yours has recovered from the 'curtain washing'. Will you be frolicking in your pool tomorrow? Mel, I did as I was told and just pottered about today. Tomorrow I think I will be out doing a bit in the garden with OH. He has the bit between his teeth now the 'end' is in sight!! :-Dlol.

First though we have to take his car to the garage. On his way to footie yesterday he noticed something was dragging on the road and people were staring at the scraping noise his car was making!! He had a look underneath and a plastic cover seems to have partly come adrift so it drags on the road. He has been crawling under it today armed with rolls of duck tape and masking tape to hopefully hold it till he gets to the garage tomorrow. .......he is pinning his hopes on the garage doing a temporary fix even if they have to order a part. He will want it for a footie match tomorrow night and I know he already has his beady eyes on my car if there is any problem!!

I'm seeing my sister later this week so today I sat and made her a surprise gift of necklace and matching earings. I will send a pic......think she will like it as the gold pearls will go with her blonde hair and she wears a lot of black.

Good that Joy could get out and come and get her hair done Kim. I wonder if she was using her stick?

Best wishes to Fiona for tomorrow............if it is one of those noisy scans it won't help her headaches. xx :-S

MEgirl Report 20 Aug 2012 09:41

Morning everyone,

You all seem to be suffering with heat and storms. It must be so sticky. I expect we might have a summer like that this year. Haven't had any rain for over a week so the lawns and plants needed a good soak.

I took myself gingerly out the back yesterday and did some pruning with the help of OH. I did the small branches and he looked after the bigger ones and then everything got a feed. Something out there is eating away at the leaves, although some plants are ok. Can't see any pests or eggs being laid. I haven't done that in a while so I hope everything grows back by the summer. One of my plants is almost dead I hope it will revive itself after the fertilizing.

Ann thanks for the photos. I loved the necklace and earrings you made, very pretty and the blue fly what startling colours. I have never seen one like that before. Joy did use her proper walker with wheels to come to our place, but I have seen her in the street with just one stick. I think the family has returned home now. I hope they gave her a talking to, but she's a stubborn old dear. Is your back any better now?

Mandy I hope Lacey's little sample turns out to be normal today. It's good that she isn't in any pain.

Well the date was very romantic. Apparently where he works is a private little courtyard, so he put up fairy lights and lit candles and prepared a meal for both of them and then took her for a walk around Terrigal to get an icecream. He must be very thoughtful and sweet. Now she has gone off to "study" for her maths exam with him, ahem. The trial exams are this week and next and she hasn't opened a book. The house has been blue with the language. I just hope it's not 6 years of high school wasted. :-(

I did read about Mrs. Johnson passing away and never knowing where poor Keith was buried. Why couldn't Br**y just let them know? What did he have to lose? That poor lady.

So Liz you will have an extra house guest. Maybe she will be a bit quieter with the heat. Does she get on with Millie? Poor Merlin, it's horrible to see horses struggling with the flies.

Well we are starting to feel the effects of the world's biggest Carbon Tax. The prices for fresh fruit and veg. have doubled or even tripled in some cases, not to mention when the next electricity bills come in. I hope they don't introduce such a scheme in your country. Small businesses are shutting down everywhere as they just can't cope with all the costs which have to flow through to customers. I will be so glad when the next election arrives as this PM is really on the nose. The Gr**ns suggested that if the elderly were cold that they should get cats to sit on their knees to keep warm if they couldn't afford to pay power bills or use heating. How bl**dy insulting to say such things - they should live like a pensioner for a few weeks to see what life is like. :-| :-| :-|

Rod (our deceased neighbour) daughter had a baby girl on Saturday morning named Sienna Win (after Glenda's nickname). So sad he wasn't around to see his first grandchild. Celebrations and yet sadness at the same time. Mum and bub doing well.

Best wishes to Fiona with her scan today. Hope all goes well.

Have a good day everyone, off to have my dinner now which is fish pie tonight. 6.38pm AEST.

Morning from the lonesome old man,

Ros went off about 10.30 am SHOPPING with Carolyn. They will have plenty to talk about after Carolyn's trip to Brussels, and their forth comming trip to the palace this Friday/Saturday.

I will be completely lost, having no transport.. So no Chinese/Indian for me. The minimum delivery is £18.00 and I could never eat that amount. Will have to make myself something, when i get hungry.

Nice to see you are able to do a little KIM, take things easy now. !!!!

Was up this morning at 5.45 am. Beautiful sunrise. Then the clouds came in, we had a slight shower. Now it's very cloudy, and looks like it could get wet.

Gosh Kim , hyour government sounds a bit like ours years ago when the elderly were encouraged to wear woollen hats and mittens in the winter to keep warm in their unheated houses!! As for the suggestion of keeping a cat, that sounds completely crazy! Cats need feeding?! money! also what do you do when it goes off somewhere for a few hours as cats tend to do?!! As well as patronising it's downright silly!!
Yes, Millie and Stella get on pretty well - Millie mostly has a look of pained resignation on her face which turns into indignation when Stella goes into her bed or drinks from the water bowl, (she considers this to be her private property!) Apart from that, they are ok together.
Nothing much doing here today, SIL tells me that it is 40c in their part of France!!! Bit hot even for me Jane! :-0
