How sad Fiona. It must have been awful losing her daughter like that and with such a promising future too. I don't know how anyone could be the same after something like that and I'm sure it would have taken its toll on her health.

Hi Sheila......how is that leg now?

I'm off to bed soon........wonder if Mandy is still upside down?

Night, night.....xx

Hello all,

Another wet day here, haven't had this much rain in winter for 5 years.

Jane thank you for speaking to Chris. TB had entered my thoughts as we have so many boat people coming in. A couple of the doctors attending the detention centres have caught it, so it is certainly here. She's still coughing badly and it has been such a long time. She doesn't help herself either as far as wearing warm clothes and doing what the doctors ordered and practically no fluids. I feel like giving up quite frequently. As Shirl keeps telling me you can lead a horse to water ...........

Sad about little Emma, we have tried to contact the grandparents to find out more about the funeral. I've even checked local papers and still nothing. I guess not everyone puts death & funeral notices in.

Fiona sorry to read about that lady and only 68. It is very young and yes you have attended a few funerals in the last year.

Pat thanks for the picture of Mocha, he is almost as big as his stuffed pal now and such a lovely dog too.

Welcome home Frank, looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Hi Sheila hope your leg is improved.

Had more sad news; my friend in Victoria has lost her brother aged 51 years to a heart attack. I met him years ago, such a nice fellow with a wife and 3 children. His brother died a few years ago at the same age from heart problems; with medical advancement why are we losing people at such a young age. I know genetics plays a part and probably stress too.

Off to have a cuppa, hope the weather is kind to everyone today. 4.12 pm EST

Pat, sorry I only saw the pic of Mocha. Just had a look at the photos of your amazing aquarium. The fish look so healthy and everything is colourful. You've done a great job with it, very attractive.

Evening Kim .Morning All

More sad news KIm :-( There is so much at the moment .As you say too many young people
As for your daughter ,you can only do and say so much. She does sound as though she being foolish by not doing what she is supposed to :-S.She must be exhausted too with that cough. It wears you down when you cough all the time .

It started of lovely and sunny here and I had no cardi or jacket on to alk Chester. In fact I was really quite hot.Now there are some rather large dark clouds looming :-S :-S

I am going to have a quick coffee and toast and then it's off to the Vet.Chester will be s wreck by the time we get there.Once we turn into a particular road he knows exactly where we are heading.I might take Mels earplugs with me as his whines and cries get higher and louder the nearer we get lol

Can't wait to hear how Frank's holiday went :-D

Morning and evening everyone,

Dry this morning but a bit chilly.

So glad Frank and Ros have returned safely and hope they enjoyed their break away. At least they did'nt have to worry about poor old pus cat this time.

Today would have been my mums 88th birthday so a sad day for me today. I got some lovely flowers for her yesterday whilst out shopping and am going to the church later to put them on her grave and have a little prayer.

Fiona I was thinking the other day, (don't do it a lot) you said you had new glasses? maybe they are what is giving you the headaches as if they are not adjusted right they could cause this problem. Have you asked the optisian or doc?

Jane glad James liked his new earplugs!!

Kim what sad news about the young girl. Drugs are a terrible thing and seem to be everywhere now causing all sorts of trouble with tealing and muggings to get the money to buy the blimmin stuff. The family must be devistated.

Can't wait for Frank's post but he could have posted while I was catching up on yesterday posts.

Yes where is our Mandy? hope she is ok................

Love to Sheila and hope the leg is a bit easier now.

Pat thanks for the pics of Mocha and the fish. when I have time I shall send you some more.

Have to go and get chicken food at some time today and am wondering whether to go now or not? It is market day and always busy.

Afternoon everyone,
I'am here , it was the school run this morning , no problems they both went to school fine .

DIL had the scan and the baby carn't be turned , head is up high but the bottom is wedged ,so there was no way he could turn her .
So the options are ,C Section or she could have it naturally with risks to the baby ,so she's booked in for the section on the 25th of this month .

I see the wanderer has returned :-D :-D looking forward to hearing all about the holiday Frank.

Must get on the family are here later for tea , no rest for the wicked !!! :-D

Hi Mel
Headaches Glasses- yes we thought of that, but the headaches were there before I got the new glasses, Dr agrees with me they sound like tension headaches and they do get worse when I get tense or concentrate for too long.

Been a funny sort of day, Met friends for coffee and it was dull and cool but when we came out it was warm & sunny, sun gone in now but have the windows open as it's very close.

Where do I start.

Last Tuesday week, it was the Jubilee party up the club. The whole inside of the dance area was covered in tables of food, from sausages to sandwiches, coldslaw, all many of savoury and cakes, triffles, biscuits. The Football pitch had three Marquees spead out. We had taken our chairs and a small table, meet up with Carolyn and John, and spent the afternoon eating and DRINKING. ME AND JOHN. By the time we were ready to leave I carried the chairs and table back to the car. Went to swiing the chairs into the boot and fell over, into all the grass and bushes.. One of the footballers came and helped me up. and home we came.

Wednesday we set off with Conrad and Jan about 10.00am. Had a good drive down through a lot of rain. We arrived about 4.pm after stopping for lunch on the way. Ros got everything unpacked and put away where we could find space.

The House is quite unusual, in as much that you go through the front door into a passage, where TWO BEDROOMS ARE. You go up a spiral staircase to the kitchen, dining room, and lounge, another spiralo staircase took you to two further bedrooms, each bedroom had an en-suite. From the lounge you could get to a small lawned area. No real garden to speak of.

Wednesday evening we went to a nice Italian Restaurant, before returning home for an early night.

Thursday morning we awoke to pounding rain, we decided it wouldn't keep us is, so showered saved and dressed and set off. We headed for Brixham, then onto Dartmouth. We got caught up in traffic, only to find it was for the FERRY. Over we went in very stormy conditions. There were some foot passengers, who to say the least were soaked to the skin. The rain continued throughout the day. (WORST DAY ALL WEEK) We decided not to go out in the evening, and ordered a Chinese, which was enormous, in fact enouth for more people.

Saturday, Overcast, but decided to to to Port Issac (Dr. Martin) If ever you decide to go there be prepared for a lot of walking, and don't go there hungry. Food prices £30.00 for 4 small sandwiches and 4 cups of tea. Worst to come. We then headed for Rick Steins at Padstow. F & C in a box with water, coke tomato juice and two pints £55.00 I didn't want to buy shares !!!! On the way back up the A 30 I passed a turning to HOLSWORTHY. So couldn't have been to far from Mel. A bit further on the A 30 was closed due to an accident, so was diverted though villages, and back on A 30 Rain stayed off all day but was cloudy and windy.

Sunday, we had a quiet morning. Set off for Tienmouth for lunch. overlooking the estuary. The food was excellent with sevice to match.

Monday was a bitty day, Jan wanted to visit her Dad, and sisters. Ros went with her, Conrad & I stayed at (HOME ALONE). Late afternoon we set of for Brixham. I walked to the Lighthouse and back (one mile) We found a restaurant overlooking the Harbour and had a meal. Totally not up to my standard, poor quality food and service. and the dearest meal of the week.

We spent Tuesday morming in Torquay, eating Ice cream in brillient sunshine. We set off a day early because the QUEEN is going to EDITH WESTON (where CONRAD AND JAN) live, and they wanted to see her. She was going to the village hall, for whatever reason. On the way back home, they diverted to Cheddar, where we stopped for something to eat and drink, before coming home.

All in alol the weather was not good, but never stopped us doing what we wanted.

By the way, the fall I had, left my backside and lower back, PURPLE AND BLACK bruises. I haven't seen them as I can't see in the mirror.

Haven't read any postings, but will try to catch up over the next few days.

Since I started posting, We have been to Tesc# and done the shopping, also had THE BIGGEST FALL OUT WITH ONE OF THE STAFF. That's another story for later.

Back 5 minutes and causing trouble I see :-D :-D.Glad you managed to all get out and about Frank despite the dreadful weather and your Black and Blue Backside ;-)
The Jubilee party sounded a great success :-D

Fiona ,I bet Sofia will soon get used to wearing her new pink specs. Is this a permanent thing or will she grow out of needing them?

Mandy.I hope your DIL isn't worried about having a C Section.I had 2 both by epidural and it was fine. One good thing is that she has a definite date so can plan ahead now.

I have just spent 20 minutes scrubbing bird poo off my lounge carpet.I was blaming the dog ,but when I checked my sandals .....it was me :-| :-|It's the flipping Wood Pidgeons.Girt big dollops all over the place.Dirty Birds :-S

I have to take Chester back to the vets to be weighed again in a month or 2 as he has lost over 2 kilos. If he loses any more the Vet wants to do some blood tests :-S

Mel I remember your Mum well from when Janice and I came to see you.She was doing a puzzle in the sitting room when we arrived. Then she came through and said how nice it was to hear lots of laughter going on :-D

I had an email from Hannah earlier to say she has (in her words) Bagged a 10 month secondment with the Institute of Psychiatry .Addiction Sciences Department working on a RCT(I don't know what that means but will find out)for the Medical Research Council with a couple of Top Dog Professors.

I haven't a clue really yet what exactly it entails (all I know it is blooming good). She will be ringing later so I will know more then.I'm guessing she is a very happy girl :-D

Shirl I have nowhere to tie on Handcuffs lol.I'll have to think of something else ;-)
I think it is time for me to put dinner on.Chicken Breasts with Asparagus on top wrapped with some Pancetta.New Potatoes and what ever veg I can rustle up.

Frank the Queen is in this area today as part of her Jubilee Tour.

Evening All,

Can someone send me Pat's and Mel's pics please. :-D

Frank it sounds like you had a good time anyway and got about quite a bit. We walked past Rick Steins in Padstow, but kept walking as our F&C for 2 in his place in Falmouth cost £32!! I hope your 'situpon' is fully recovered now. We missed your emails and capers while you were away!! ;-) Hope you haven't been banned from Te*co!!

First the gloomy news.....a friend I was meeting on Friday can't make it now. Her FIL died last weekend and also her SIL has tried to commit suicide. She already has a lot on her plate being in her fifties with a 13 year old daughter at boarding school in the week that she has to travel over 120 miles to fetch and
take back every weekend and sometimes in the week too, as well as drive her to swimming galas. She works 30 hours a week too!! The school is a specialist swimming school and her daughter is an ace swimmer. She has to train 2 hours before school starts and 2 hours after it finishes each day.

FIL's back has been improving, so what does he do........hurt it some more climbing in and out of the bath!! Honestly, you wouldn't get in the bath with a broken leg so why try it with a fractured vertebra!!!!! :-0

Shirl, I know what you mean about the hoover........Imade me laugh at the thought of you in a potato field. lol :-D

Poor old Chester Jane. I hope he will be ok.....bit worrying him losing weight. Well done Hannah! It always pays to keep an eye open for opportunities and it looks like she's succeeded. She deserves some success and happiness now.

OH went for an interview yesterday. Under the Localism Act passed last year Councils have to appoint independent people to advise and assist them when they get complaints against councillors now. (for the first time councillors will be able to be prosecuted!) He swotted up before he went so could answer all their questions on the act easily. The cheeky monkey asked how many out of ten he'd got for those questions and they said he was 'well up there'!! lol. Councils will have to rely a lot on the people they appoint and OH had the 3 on the interview board chuckling away by saying he would become their 'new best friend then if he was successful'!! He's not even sure he would want to take it if offered though as our cheapskate council only pay expenses. Some councils are paying an allowance as well as expenses. The idea of localism is that local people and councils have more input and voice about their area.........but that means no consistency between councils too. OH has also applied to become a Trust Member for the Local Probation Trust which he really fancies I think but at the same time doesn't want to get bogged down with too much!! It's good that there are lots of opportuntities to do different things though.

We went for our fav carvery today.......strawberry pavlova for pud!!! :-D :-D

It doesn't sound like it is a small baby Mandy, but then I suppose they can stretch and wedge themselves. It has always puzzled me why the blood doesn't rush to babies' heads when they are upside down.lol :-S Funny the things you think sometimes. It must be good for her to know what will happen now, sounds the safest way for them both. It won't be long now will it!

Hannah was so lucky to get this next job.A Consultant she works with told her about it and when she expressed an interest ,he said "Give me your CV and I will pass it on".He did earlier this week. They saw Hannah this morning offered her the post without interviewing anyone else!!!!!I I can't even begin to say how proud I am of her.If you look up The Institute of Psychiatry (London) Research you will see what they do.
Just watching the Lost Streets of London now .

Jane that is great for Hannah. See all that work has paid off for her after all. Clever girl.

Been and spent some money today!! Naughty girl........I went to pick up the two bra's I had ordered. When I got in the shop the lady put them on the counter and I took one look at them and said "They look too big for me" when I looked at the size I was right, they had ordered two black in the right style but in a 42 E !!!

I know I am big but not that big :-( :-( :-( so I bought myself another pair of jeans instead.

Went on to Mole Valley Farmers for poultry corn and they had an offer on Regatta waterproof coats. down from £40 something to half price and I get 2o/o off too for being a member. So new jeans and a new maccy thing with a hood. Hav't had one with a hood for years.

Went up the church today and had a word with mum and did her flowers.

Off for a shower now.

Night All, sleep tight.
