Liz,if you are happy with your furniture you hang on to it :-D.Why spend a load more dosh on something you don't really need.Like you say marks comment is typical bloke lol.Just what Chris says if I ever suggest buying something new.
I would love some new Dinner Plates.I am still using the ones we had from Mum and Dad for our wedding. Not a lot of pattern left on them now :-(

OMG you should see Chris. He has gone off down the garden with air rifle under his arm and a daft hat on.He is going to sit in the barn and try and pop a few bunnies(sob sob) :-(....bet he doesn't get one :-D

Maureen ,what colour shoes have you bought? If I have a pair that pinch I just know I can't buy them even .I have never been successful in trying to stretch shoes in the places that need stretching.

Pat that was nice to get a surprise visit .How old are your Grandaughters?
I remember Janices daughter Rachel when she was little dressing up Poppy their cat and pushing her around in the buggy lol

Fiona ,that will be so nice to have all that extra space to have a kitchen table and chairs. That is one thing I would like.I wish when we moved in here 20 odd years ago that we had knocked down a wall to make our kitchen big enough to be able to eat in.We had the kitchen gutted but just didn't think about enlarging it at the time.

Phew it has really warmed up here now.I have got towels blowing nicely on the line along with some of James 's jumpers. They should all be ready to bring in soon.

I started writing this ages ago .Hannah rang so have been gabbing for about half an hour. She and John have just booked a 4 day trip to Iceland in
November.

I wonder how Elmer Fudge is doing down in the barn with his gun :-S :-S

Hi everyone,

Much better day here today ,still a bit on the windy side ,but we've only had a few odd little showers.

Hubby's been hanging the blinds in the conservatory , its beginning to look more like home now ,it seems to be taking forever to get done but hubby only has the weekends to do it ,he's usually tired after a days work and doesn't feel like doing anything .

We thought we might have a ride out to the coast tomorrow , we haven't been out for weeks ,but we'll have to see what the weathers like .

It's not like you to have a lay down Mel, were you feeling ok ? you're usually busy doing some thing or other.

Ive got a hanging basket to go up out the front , trouble is the bracket has come away from the wall , and i hardly dare ask hubby to do it after working on the blinds !! think 'll leave it for another day !!

We're off to sisters tonight for a Chinese meal ,poor BIL is getting fed up waiting to hear about having his op on his knee, he went to the clinic last week and it now seems he will have to have the antibiotic filler put in his knee , so it will be a long job after all, he's now walking with crutches as he carn't bear the pain from putting his foot to the floor !!!

Hope Frank and Ros are getting better weather now.

Enjoy your Chinese..........I do feel sorry for your BIL .He is having a rotten time with his knee isn't he.

MillymollyAmanda Report 9 Jun 2012 18:05

Wait until he brings one in for you to skin :-S :-S LOL

Yes BIL is having a time of it , the doctors keep changing their minds about what he needs doing !! it's all the business with the infection , that they don't know if he has or not :-S but will now treat him as if he has !!

Maureen

Maureen Report 9 Jun 2012 18:20

Your poor BIL Mandy must be really miserable to be in constant pain, hope it gets sorted soon.

Have been taking it easy today, catching up with all the sewing.

We used to have rabbits but my ex saw them as dinner and my daughter wouldn't speak to him when he killed one for the pot, I guess that's the difference between a country boy and a town girl.

Nice when things come together Mandy, don't think I could take on what Fiona is having done, too much disruption, I'm glad my son did here years ago although it is all looking a bit tired now. I have a list of jobs for him, he gave it a quick glance today and said no more :-|

I looked on Google how to stretch shoes, one suggestion was to wet newspaper and stuff them in the shoe and put it in the freezer, when it' s frozen take it out and wait for it to defrost, suppose to stretch the leather, we will see, I just hope I haven't got black print all over them now.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 9 Jun 2012 18:30

Mind you don't get some water marks on the shoes Maureen .

Try heating the leather with a hair dryer then stuff them with newspaper while they are still hot to stretch them.

I remember my SIL rubbing soap on the heels of her new shoes to soften them up , i always get blisters on my heels after wearing new shoes !!

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jun 2012 19:18

Blisters !!!! with those new school shoes we used to have :-S :-S.What agony all day at school. Then having that awful Elastplast stuck on your heels. It was a bu*ger to get off and left all that sticky white gum on the skin.I always remember screaming my head off when Dad tried to get those plasters off me :-S.Thank heavens plasters have changed now.

Just spoke to Janice. Her leg is very painful after having her first week back at work.I just hope she copes alright tomorrow on the boat. She has an OT appointment on Monday and will say she has found it hard.maybe she can reduce her hours for a while. She said on Thursday it was so bad she pretended she had a physio appointment and just had to go home.
She was up at 4.30 this morning as her knee was giving gyp .So she went downstairs and starting cooking up all the stuff for the picnic on the boat tomorrow. She made scones at 5am!! .Says they have come up a real treat :-D.It has been touch and go whether the boat trip could go ahead because of the height of the river with all the rain. But fingers crossed all will be fine.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Jun 2012 21:56

Gosh I hope she is ok Jane. Don't think she should go really.

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jun 2012 22:09

She will be fine Mel!Tough old cookie is Janice :-D She will grin and bear it through gritted teeth if needs be.
I think I must be away to bed .Just caught myself doing the old nodding head .

Oh by the way ....no dead bunnies tonight :-D :-D :-D
Night Night x

Annx Report 9 Jun 2012 22:16

Evening All,

Maureen, I remember buying a shoe stretcher once years ago. It was plastic and you turned a screw that would open it up in the shoe to stretch it. It kind of worked, but stretched bits that didn't need stretching as well! :-S It might be worth taking your shoes to see what a shoe repairer could do if nothing else works.

How big are the baby fish now Mel? I bet they love being in a big pond now. It's good if your new HD boxes give less interference. We had a lot on B*C coverage of the Jubilee and ended up watching it on S*y.

Your poor BIL Mandy. It sounds like they could have started this treatment before now. How awful for him to be in such pain.......I hope it soon improves for him. Janice still suffering so much with her knee too. It sounds like she needs to do less hours for the time being or she will be going backwards with it. I admire her for getting up and baking at that time in a morning!! I hope she manages alright with the boat......she should be ok once she is 'on'!! I think I might find that bit tricky too. I remember years ago getting in my kyak was very tricky ........couldn't even attempt that now!! :-(

It was always the same with my ex Mandy. He never seemed to finish off our own jobs! It will be nice to have your newly decorated conservatory back and cosy with the blinds. :-D Two of the big panes on ours have misted up and need replacing or we'll be thinking it is foggy outside. I'd better check the others before I get someone in......MORE EXPENSE!

Later we went over to Lutterworth and the poppy field I took pics of is near there so we went to have a look. The farmer has planted wheat this year and obviously weed treated it. Just one or two in flower around the edges. :-(

Then we went through Knaptoft and stopped to go and look at the church ruins there as we haven't seen them before. Well it looked so pretty as a remembrance garden is alongside , all well tended and cared for. Hardly any of the church remains, but they still hold services there every three weeks. Then we stopped off at nearby Arnesby and walked along the bridleway to look at the windmill there. It was just a ruin when I used to go there in my 20s. Now it has been restored and is part of a rather nice house!

It is so warm now I am back in sleeveless top again.I had a jumper on yesterday lol
Dinner is now simmering away in the oven for the next couple of hours so all that needs to be done is either rice or potatoes.

Chris has been out and bought a new router .He said as James is off next week he can set it up.He must have been very uncomfortable sat in the car for 4 hours trying to use the laptop :-S

I wonder how the canal trip is going.I can imagine it is total chaos, knowing Janice and her lot lol. They are not the quietest bunch. All a bit hyper if you know what I mean.I can just see it being a brilliant Sit Com :-D :-DI hope someone takes some video of it all on one of their Hi Tec phones.

Mel what was the firework do at the big house .Was it a wedding or some special do?
