Afternoon everyone
Well the new window is in ,the old one took some getting out , glass went every where !! its a big eight foot wide window so there was a lot of glass ,hubby said he didn't think it would come out in one piece . We really need another the same size as we have two windows that size in the conservatory ,well i call it a conservatory but its really called a sun room on the plan when hubby built it , its brick built with the two big windows over looking the garden .
Jane , our smoke alarm beeps when it needs a new battery ,why is it always in the night when they start beeping !!! Nice to have Hannah home with her new man !! :-D you'll have lots to catch up on .
Happy Birthday to your daughter Fiona, i remember son having the terry nappies and the plastic pants over the top , i still have one of the nappy pins i used on his nappy !!
Keep stitching Maureen !! how many metres did you have to buy to cover the cupboards ? several i should think .
Its now brightened up again ,we had just a little rain after lunch but the ground has all dried up now and the wind is quite keen today .
Gammon for tonight with new pots and salad .
Where is William ? hope they are both ok after their colds .

Afternoon All,
Yes it's freezing here too......not stopped OH from finding a match to go to though!! Thankfully FIL had 'been' by this morning (after 9 days and double doses of powders!) so there was no need to call the out of hours doc today, which they'd been told to do if he hadn't. MIIL had several phone calls yesterday from the doctor/community service/district nurse and gets in a right 2 & 8 and really affronted when they ask the same questions about what medication he has taken. She doesn't see it as them taking extra care, just expects them all to know and tell each other!! Lol. I tried suggesting that some people might be taking additional things they get from the chemist as well and they have to be sure....... but you can see it goes straight over her head. :-| FIL said the doctor had asked about the pain again yesterday, so OH asked how it was and had he told the doctor. 'Oh there's no pain', he said. 'OH said 'what about the pain in your back?' FIL said 'that's still there but that's nothing to do with anything, the problem's the old hernia repair I had that needs another operation'. OH....'Oh, did the doctor say that?'.......FIL....'no'. OH.......'does it hurt where the hernia was when the doc examined you?'....FIL.....'No'. You despair sometimes don't you!!! lol. Anyway he's having an xray next week and a blood test so they are checking him out.
Sorry if I'm turning this into a 'medical' thread, but we had sad news at the beading class yesterday. The lady who has the hedgehog rescue has MS and had to have an operation on on her spine. It seems she has paralysis in 2 limbs now and has to go to a specialist hospital in Sheffield. It was to prevent paralysis that she needed the operation as well.
I had a look at the lodge like you said Mandy and agree with you.....that is definitely the right building. It is a pity it has lost it's fine chimneys, but the fancy ironwork is still in place. I bet it had fine gardens years ago too. It must have been a bit of a game getting that big pane of glass in place.....I bet you all heaved a sigh of relief when it went in. We have a couple in our conservatory that have condensation between the panes and need replacing....nowhere near that size though!
Is Maureen buried under a pile of drapes at her sewing machine? It is always awkward when you stitch big pieces. I bet Harry won't be so keen on those kisses when he is a bit older!!! lol.
Happy birthday to your daughter Fiona. I bet your OH loves having his own Office. OH loved it when he had his own office with a huge desk and lots of cupboards and his name on the door!! lol. Then with all the changes and cutbacks, even though he had several more promotions, he no longer had his own office!! Then, with all the travelling to different offices, they just used to find him someone else's desk with a computer on it. If the systems went down he would have to find another office, probably 30 miles away, with an empty desk available. By the time he finished, some of his staff were hot desking which meant no-one even had a desk of their own. How times change.
Sounds like you have a busy weekend and lots of work Jane.......hope the potatoes are crunchy with all this expectation there is!
I got up in the early hours as there were strange noises outside........!! sounded like a distressed animal or bird. After 5 mins along trotted Mr Fox and he disappeared into the garden over the road. I haven't looked behind the shed yet!! :-0

Well I did'nt get up the tunnel in the end. ot even anywhere near it. I hoovered right through, swept the outside of the bungalow. Made tea and coffee, cleaned the nest boxes out on the big girls while oh mowed the orchard. Fed the robin and sheeky chaffinch and did the washing up after lunch and then got the dinner. Smoked haddock sweetcorn poached eggs mash for me and prawn mash for oh. Folowed by Blackcurrant and clotted cream icecream with toule biscuits.
Nearly dark now so I better go and shut all the chickens and bantams in. When I did the nest boxes today I had 5 big eggs and a bantam egg in there. Don't know how a banty got in but she must have. I thought oh was having a joke with me at first but he said no he did'nt put it in there.

Must be pm now for you lot, hello all.
Sunny but cool today and washing dry at last.
OH on 3 day course up near Warner's Bay. Home each night, hope my daughter will go to school. She really is getting up my nose. Maureen wonderful words of wisdom, but this one seems to be kissing toads. Don't they give you warts, lol.
Shirl happy 16th for your Monster. Sorry that you didn't get much sleep, you would be exhausted. How is your eye doing?? I like your new photo, you've had some great times throughout the years. :-) Just a bit of light rain would do xx
Jane sounds like you are enjoying your weekend with Hannah and her beau. I didn't get sick with my two either just terrible back pain. I was very lucky in that respect.
Ann how awful for your hedgehog lady. MS is tough in itself.
The moon is fantastic tonight, so much closer and 30% brighter. Should have taken some pics as it was rising. Another 20 years before it happens again.
Fiona glad your girl had a great birthday and dinner. It's nice to see them so happy.
Off to the couch for some tv, goodnight from me. Have a good afternoon. 10.15 pm EST

Well that explains why I had so many warts as a teenager Kim ....LOL
Lots of birthdays flying around, happy one to your little monster Shirl, and Janice's boy.
Still ploughing on with the drapes, should be finished today, it's quite difficult when you can't hang them up to see the right length etc. all I've got are measurements. Still it's only the village hall I keep telling myself not her bloomin' wedding dress.
No William for a while hope he and Carmen are okay.
Sounds like all is going well at Janes with the new beau, we often do that, sit around the dining table and chat for hours after the meal is finished.
Does Sofia sleep through the night now Fiona. My poor daughter says she is exhausted, Harry wakes two or three times in the night still and he is quite hard work at the best of times more so now she is pregnant, having to deal with nausea, aches and pains and going out to work two days out of six. Has daughter no.1 got a date for the new baby, ours is due 18th October.
Very dull and grey here today, quite cold too.

Belated birthday wishes to Shirl's monster and Janice's youngest.
Good you enjoyed your long chat Jane, last night.
Oh mowing and I have been sweeping the outside again. Trouble is there is a lot to sweep here!!
Off up to water the tunnel as I did'nt get up there yesterday, thats if oh dos'nt find me another job to do before I get up there. I shall have to go up behind the box hedge so he dos'nt see me. He is mowing at the mo as he says it is going to rain tomorrow. He has done the two smaller lawn and is now on the big one.
Hope you get those drapes finished today Maureen.
Love to all.

Hello Sheila, hope you are having a good day.
Didn't get the drapes finished, son came over with Finley, so will have to try and finish them tomorrow. Haven't seen Finley for a while he has certainly grown or maybe it's because I've seen more of Harry.
I bet you'll be glad to see some warmer weather Mel with all the work you do in the garden.

Afternoon All,
Started sunny, then went dull, then lots of sun this afternoon We went off to the bluebell woods after lunch......what a lovely sight! These particular ones are private though so you can't walk through the wood. I also got a pic of an old building in a field that I feel must have been to do with the war. I will send it later and see if anyone knows.
Maureen I bet you will be glad when you have finished and have tried the drapes to check the length. It must have sounded like 'The Rag Trade' while you were whizzing along all those seams! lol :-). I bet they will make a big difference to the look of the village hall.......what colour are they?
Happy birthday to your monster Shirl and for Jane's nephew's 21st. I hope Janice and Fitz are doing well now and that Fitz's nausea has improved.
Yes, it seems the operation has caused the Hedgehog lady's paralysis. She was told there was a risk of it happening, but was told she would most likely become paralysed anyway if she didn't have the operation. What a decision to have to make.
Mel, it sounds like you are getting spick and span inside and out!! I was going to buy a few runner bean plants tfrom the garden centre today.......couldn't believe the price £3 for a few scrawny plants, so I got some seeds for white flowered, stringless ones. I'll keep them in the greenhouse where it's warmer till they get going. It might be better that they are a bit late as something always eats the first flowers anyway. I'm itching to finish the waterfall now my back is better, but I see it is rain again tomorrow!!! :-S I forgot to look at the moon last night too!!:-S It will be another 20 years before it happens again.
I better start 'googling' now. OH wants me to sort his car insurance, then it is the house insurance soon.......they seem to come around so quickly!
