Afternoon all

Very wet and dull here..Just had to go and trim a bit of my honeysuckle back..The weight of it and the rain has pulled the trellis over slightly Alan will have to fix that..I got wet with just the rain comming off the plant,

Zumba went ok..It is fast but if you cant keep up they say just to march on the spot..They were asian girls taking the class so some of the movements were to their kind of music...I will go line dancing wed now just so i can see my freinds who go most nights lol...not like me...

I will pop out to my friends in amin and take Mocha as well.

Sorry who is LilyL am I missing something..Has someone changed their name on here..Is Liz now LilyL

I think having cauliflower cheese with sunday lunch is unusal..If you are not having gravy then fine....Cauliflower cheese with wedges and something else sounds better..But we all have our own preferences..But then Frank you like cooking and going the extra mile...not like me..Im not really interested in food...dont like eating out either

:-(.. I hope your eye is abit better today Jane.
Fiona i hope you are sleeping better now..

Not only does our favourite carvery do cauli in cheese sauce, they do a delicious ratatouille with tomato, onion, courgette and peppers to go with the roast too and I love that, gravy and all!! No complaints on the 'hip' front so far Frank!! ;-) lol

Did you see in the paper where it has been found that some curries have other meats in them than what they say. Mind you, an Indian colleague at work years ago put me off curries.

Did he get you a wooden leg too Jane?

Afternoon All
I love cauliflower cheese, especially on a baked potato for lunch. my favourite is Brocoli & cauliflower in a white sauce also with a jacket potato yummy.

Met up with my friends this morning but had to cut our chattering short as one of the ladies got a call from the care home where her father is , he has dementia and also has been poorly with a chest infection, but the the staff had to phone for the doctor and the doctor decided it was time to send the old man to hospital. Poor Sandra was really upset as she is worried that her dad will not make it, perhaps the infection will turn into pneumonia he has been coughing quite a lot and his temp was really high, I am keping my fingers crossed he manages to pull through this as I know how heartbreaking it is to loose your dad after living through so many years of care with a parent with this horrible illness.

Sunny here today

Jane I hope your eye is feeling more comfortable soon.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 May 2012 17:43

Poor old Jane Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum or should I say white. Did you get your parrot ????

Probably two little ulcers on your eyelidI have had those now and again and they sting like billyo and make your eye water. Mine only lasted about a day being really annoying and sore. Mum used to get htem too. She had a cyst under her eyelid and I had to put a cream right inside the bottom lid.

I like cheese sauce on cauli and I don't mind it with gravy either now having tried it at a Christmas dinner once in a posh hotel in Bude. I never liked the idea of chips and gravy either. When we went to the garden center and had steak and stilton pie that came with chips and gravy and when you come to think about it chips are only like small long roast pots anyway. I would not have had gravy with chips as a choice though it just came that way.

It is good to see Liz posting again. I bet she has been so busy with this new build and clearing up after everyone in and out of the caravan and they have'nt exactly had nice weather for the build lately. She willbe so glad to get in there and poor little Millie too, not forgetting Ian.........................

Sheila that poor old man, you were supposed to be cheering him up not upsetting him. I did laugh though, poor old boy.

Got lasagne tonight with rabbits food as oh calls salad. I shall do him a big cheese jacket with his that should keep him quite and then I have a lemon fresh cream sponge for sweet.

Fiona ,I know just how worried your friend will be now.Not an easy time :-(

The weather seems to have dried up for the moment and it's looking quite misty.Just very Murky :-S

I'm looking forward to the weekend when Hannah will be home. She is coming on Friday and then John will follow on Saturday.I wonder what he will think of the Rose Household :-S :-S :-SI hope this eye clears up by the time he comes otherwise I might scare him off lol

Evening everyone,

We had rain here most of the morning then by lunch time it had stopped and its been cloudy all the afternoon.

Firstly hope Kim is a little better today <3
Jane, hope the eye problem clears up by the week end .

And also Shirl ,hope your ok too, i don't think we've heard from Shirl, she was having another injection in her eye wasn't she !!
It seems to be all eye problems this week !!

Had a busy day been shopping with DIL this morning ,she had to have a special blood test yesterday ,i think it's a new test they are doing to test for Diabetes, she had to have a blood test ,then drink a certain amount of L*cozade ,wait an hour ,then another blood test ,and then another test an hour later , so she has felt tired all day today .

I then picked her up again this afternoon when Chelsea came out of school as she needed a new pair of school shoes so i looked after Katie while they shopped for them and when Jake came out of school i ran them all home....its been all go here ,its nice to sit down.

Just spoke to Janice and her daughters basement is now full of water !!!!!.They are now making plans as what to try and move upstairs. :-S.
People have been evacuated from nearby and there are 2 fire engines and an incident room parked up in the car park at the end of their terrace.A very worrying time .My Niece's OH will not be there tonight as he is going to the funeral tomorrow of the girl who died running the Marathon. She was a childhood friend. So things are very stressful there at the moment. He will also find out tomorrow whether his mum has terminal cancer. Also my Niece's Dad(my ex BIL is due to have his triple heart bypass.Yesterday she went to a memorial do to remember little Evie who died a year ago when a marble top dresser fell on her and killed her.
Sorry this has been a miserable post :-S :-S :-S

On a lighter note .....Chris didn't come home with a Parrot or a wooden leg ;-).I really need to go and start doing something about dinner now.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 May 2012 19:08

Did he bring in any Rum?????????????????

What a dreadfull thing flooding is as it just ruins everything. I would want to move all that I could upstairs

Jane

Jane Report 1 May 2012 19:30

No Mel ,no Rum lol.He just said all parrots sold out :-S
As for Rachel moving things upstairs ,they have a very narrow twisty staircase. So can't actually move any big furniture up there. It will be things like Kitchen stuff, pictures ,ornaments ,childrens toys, dog's beds. They have a huge excess insurance after the last floods.I think it is something like £20,000 :-S :-S :-S
Please everyone keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't get to that stage. As Janice said she won't be any use in shifting things(with her knee).
I remember the last flood they had 5 years ago they were rescued from their upstairs bedroom window with Finlay as a baby and the dog. They had to go back the following day to rescue the cats and Tortoise, walking chest deep in filthy water and having to carry the animals in boxes held over their heads. It doesn't bare thinking about that they might have to through all this again. :-S :-S :-S

Frank Report 1 May 2012 20:38

oh what a sorry state of affairs Jane. I will be thinking of them, trying to live through another nightmare like that. How close to the river do they live.????

SNAP Mel, The same meal here. but with baby potato's. Choc ice for afters.

The way you are dashing around Many, you won't need to watch your diet, all this excercise, you will meet yourself comming back. !!!

Cleared up a bit round here, quite misty over the back. I suppose it will be back to normal tomorrow morning.

The local Jubilee party is on 5th June up the football field, The bar will be open all day.!!!!! They are asking everyone to bring a plate of food and to dress in RED WHITE AND BLUE. Ros found a T shirt in Tesc# that in Red and blue, I have some white trousers So I am fixed up. We set off for Devon the next day, so I can't celebrate to much. Ros has found a Red and White striped jumper/blouse, she has plenty of Blue trousers, so she's all fixed up. I might decorate a straw hat with bunting, and also get Ros to sew some round my shirt and trousers.

Holby will soon be over then I can watch "CRIME WATCH" for a hour.

Good news Daughter no 2 got the job for supervisor at her shop in Hamiton, she will be doing the supervisor job on a sunday which is only for 4 hours and will be doing the normal sales job for 3 hours one day through the week, only allowed to do 7 hours per week.(part time)
The rest of the week she will do a few hours at the museum in Glasgow, this means she now can apply for any supervisors job full time when advertised,
She just might be lucky one day :-D :-D

Well that is a bit of good news about your daughter Fiona after the not so good start to your day. Your daughter must be chuffed. :-D

Yes Shirl was having that injection in her eye today wasn't she.....not nice!!

Mandy that diabetes test your DIL had is the same as the one I have on the diabetes project I joined. I hate Lucoza*e too and you have to drink a huge jugful of it in a short time!! You can get temporary diabetes while pregnant can't you? My sister did.

FLOWERS Report 2 May 2012 09:16

Good Morning all,
Hope you are all ok. I haven't been on this for weeks I've been so busy with the family & work.
Jane, I hope your eye soon gets better, it must be sore & very annoying.
FIona, Hope your daughter enjoys her new job & that it leads to a full time position for her,I'm visiting Hamilton in a few weeks for a short break, we are visiting my hub's family who live near there, I hope the rain stops by then, but I'm probably hoping for a miracle in Scotland !
My BIL is now back home after having the brain bleed in March, he's still having occupational therapy at home, he's been so lucky. He's had to hand in his driving licence, but luckily his wife can drive.
Really enjoyed catching up on the posts.
Hope you all have a nice day. ;-)
