Mandy ,it will be a sad day tomorrow for you all.I will be thinking of you.

Frank Report 21 Mar 2012 18:06

OH what a shock we have just had.

Ros went to get some sultana's from the cupboard. Only to find little brown bits on the sealed lid. For those who have had them, you will know what I am going to say "FLOUR MITES" She started to get everything out of the cupboard, and everything that was open or for that matter un- opened, was covered all over the packets. Everything in the DUSTBIN. Will make a list for new stuff tomorrow. PLEASE EVERYONE. Look up FLOUR MITE on Google. And take note. We won't get caught again. Everything in the freezer for 24 hours before going in the cupboard.

Keep your chin up tomorrow Mandy. My thoughts will be with you.

Dinners ready, see you later.

Hi Everyone,

Will be thinking of you and your OH tomorrow Mandy. It sounded as if he and his brother had some really good times together on the farm in the past.

Frank, we never learn do we!! I find mackerel repeats on me for ages, very oily, but good for you. I wouldn't risk it in the evening!!

I hope the op is all over now and that Fitz is back in his small bed!! I don't know how Georgette can concentrate on anything else while her hubby is having an operation.....I would be useless. Just Janice to have her knee done tomorrow now. I imagine she will happier when she can move the knee and start tottering about a bit. Best wishes to her and I hope it doesn't take long to do.

I went to Stafford this morning........what a palava parking was. I went into what seemed quite a big carpark only to find some of it was for 3 hours max and another big chunk was private!! Just 2 spaces left in the long term parking, but only £4 for the day, much, much cheaper than around here. Sadly I didn't find anything on the rellie I was particularly interested in but I did find the addresses where some of my family were living just after WW1. I also got some new info from the parish records which was good. I then went to Litchfield via the little village where I lived as a little girl. They have finished building the house on the plot where the bungalow I lived in was. There are so many trees in the area I missed them a lot when we moved. I drove up the narrow road next to the bungalow and sat for a few minutes in the sunshine to soak up the memories. I wound down the window........lovely silence except for lots of birdsong.......just how I remember it, but I think every house has had another built on the garden at the side!! I couldn't find the place I wanted in Lichfield, think it is pedestrianised now, so I tootled home. Something to eat next I think! :-D

Maureen, it seems you are on a roll with a 'spooky ghost film' and now a Jack the Ripper Tour! I hope it isn't too scary.

Thanks everyone , i think we'll both feel better when tomorrow is over .

Just heard from sister and BIL is home ,he had the op for the Carpal Tunnel ,he's got his arm in a sling and must not straighten his arm out, he has to go back in ten days time.

Oh Frank, makes me crawl just thinking about those mites !! good job you spotted them .

Hope all goes well for Janice tomorrow Jane, she'll be glad when it's over, doesn't sound a very nice thing to have done , will be thinking about her .

Just did a long post and it disappeared!

Thoughts for Janice tomorrow and for Mandy and hubby.

Have you heard about Fitz yet Jane. I have been thinking of him this afternoon as I worked on the border.

Oh dug out my old fashioned iris just before lunch and I planted those up the border. He has also cut round the corner by where you come through the arch into the garden and joined it all up to the border so it is now all tidy right to the arch.

Ann ,you have had a busy day.Did you get goose bumps sat outside where you used to live as a child. It must seem strange to see a different house there now.
Well this month has been a catalogue (sp)?of bad news.Fitz, my sister, her ex OH needing a triple bypass, and tonight I hear that Janice's Son in Laws Mum has Lung Cancer (she is 55) :-S :-S .What next ???

Am waiting now for a call from Georgette.Fingers crossed all went well.I am just holding my breath now.

I keep trying to think of more childhood memories.Easter Eggs are coming to mind.I can see in my mind a row of eggs on the top of a kitchen cupboard.I must have been maybe 5 or 6.My favourite one had pretty iced violets decorating the egg.Someone called Uncle Bill gave that one to me.
He gave me lots of lovely presents .String of pearls for my Christening,my little Wicker Chair that my BIG TED sits in.I think he gave me Big Ted too.
I just know he was a family friend and was a Butcher in Barnstaple :-S
I wore the string of pearls on my wedding day :-D :-D

Oh, how horrid Frank. I have had those before and had to throw stuff away. Thanks for mentioning putting new stuff for an overnight blast in the freezer.....I never thought of that. A few years ago when I had some old flour and some old muesli in the cupboard we had an infestation of flour BEETLES. They were up to a quarter of an inch long and reddish. I chucked all the flour and cereals away then and washed out all the cupboards. We still found dead ones on the kitchen floor for weeks after as they were more active at night and would hide in cracks in the day. I think the last ones must have starved to death!! I had nightmares thinking of them reaching the bedroom and crawling on us at night!!!! :-0 :-0

I hope you soon feel a bit better Kim.........and I hope your kitty is ok too! It must get you down a bit, not feeling well so much as you do.

That is sad news Jane about Janice's SIL's mum. I hope they can do something for her.

OH is beginning to wonder about teachers!! Awful spelling!! :-0

I'm wondering if there is enough mileage left in my knees after today to plod around the NEC tomorrow as there is a craft and hobby event there for a few days. Don't tell Ros Frank or it will be MORE EXPENSE!!! :-D lol One of my beading buddies got some lovely beads there last year so I would like to go. I think I will decide in the morning after a night's rest!! :-D

Annx Report 21 Mar 2012 21:15

I remember those eggs with the little chalky violet flowers on Jane. I seem to remember getting one once........I only ever got just the one!!

I keep wondering if anyone else had a siren suit when they were little. I wore mine to walk to school in in the winter when I was very young. It was made of an air force blue scratchy wool material (probably was the same material they made the uniforms from!) The trousers and the jacket were lined with the same silky stuff they line jackets with now. It had deep elastic cuffs on the bottoms of the trouser legs and the sleeves. I would have been about age 5 and I remember it was very warm to wear but a right battle to put on and to take off.

I have dreamt about some of the old houses where I have lived Jane. Usually in the dream I have managed to get into the house to have a look around to see how it has changed with the new people in it. Then I hear someone unlocking the door and have to hide!! What does that mean I wonder?? :-S

Annx Report 21 Mar 2012 21:26

Do you think maybe they aren't too strict about the visiting times? When I was in they had set times but didn't chuck folk out till much later. It is worrying though when you don't know what is happening. I hope you hear soon. I suppose no-one is at home because they are all at the hospital.

Just had a call from Georgette.Poor old Fitz is still in recovery.it didn't go as planned .Keyhole surgery was no good so he has had the full open surgery. :-S :-S.(Don't know why).I think I might just have a huge glass of something to help me sleep otherwise I will be awake all flipping night. She said he is in a huge amount of pain at the moment but has had as much painkillers as he can have :-S.
I will put my brave face on when I go to see him tomorrow evening and give him a very gentle hug.

Annx

Annx Report 21 Mar 2012 21:43

I'm glad you have heard Jane. The poor thing......I hope the pain level drops soon so the painkillers work, he must be very uncomfortable, but at least the operation is over now.

A large drink of something to help you sleep sounds good. :-D You will feel better when you see how he is tomorrow.

I have been for a drink tonight and watch the football. Man City 2 Chelsera 1.

Glad we are not the only ones to have had Flour mites. They are so small, like specks of dust. Good job Ros has good eyesight.

Morning Everyone

Hope Fitz is feeling more comfortable when you visit him Jane,

MIL came out of hospital last night and is now staying with BIL for a few weeks to build up her strength and confidence. she actually had some fish & potato for her dinner last night which is good and sounded much happier to be home, she only lives in the next street so if she wants to go to her own home for anything it is only a couple of mins away in the car.
So we will not need to travel down this weekend to visit and we do not have family sleeping over so it will be nice to have the weekend to ourselves,

Another sunny day here, I might just pop outside and wash my porch windows, they are the only windows I can reach, OH will have to do the rest of the windows when he gets time

Time for a cuppa

Hello all,

Cloudy and cooler here. Hoping for some sun tomorrow.

Thinking of Fitz and his recovery from such huge surgery. So much happening your end Jane and the news with Janice's SIL's mother. Hope all goes well with Janice's treatment too.

Thank you all for your well wishes. Health is everything, money can't buy it either. OH has been dreaming about me getting better and buying me a new car, sending me out to work and a long holiday. Sounds good to me!!!!

Mandy all the best for OH's brother's funeral. You will be a big support to your hubby.

Maureen I saw those Jack the Ripper tours on a programme I watched a few weeks ago. Would be fascinating to walk around that area. I love ghost tours!!!

Fiona good to see that your MIL is out of hospital. Sounds like she is picking up already and eating again, such great news.

Jane I remember those sugar eggs too, I preferred them to the chocolate ones, just a bit hard on the teeth.

Daughter has half yearly exams next week and is trying to work at the same time. :-S Some of you wouldn't know, a fellow grabbed her by the throat and lifted her off the ground when she was on check-out on Monday night. Shook her up a bit, the big creep. Don't think the supermarket is doing much about it, just banned him from the shop for 6 months. Good luck with that one. :-| :-|

Time for a cuppa, best wishes to everyone especially those on the sick list.

Ann big puss is not too bad, small puss is still a bit iffy.

Cheers, 8.51 pm DST
