Afternoon everyone, just a quickie to let you all know we are still in the land of the living.

Lovely Mothers Day family meal at daughters. All three 'little ones' were there, all in their various stages. Siobhan's two were in good form, Ralph quite the little man and he's car mad. Maggie had been poorly and although she was good (runs on Dur*cell batteries) you could see from her eyes and complexion that she was not her real self.
Baby Grace has grown so much in just a few weeks and bless, her although still beautiful, she's got a double chin! No one else in the family has a double chin, is that milkman still around? (LOL)

Fiona, I had one of those memory foam pillows, darn'ed if I can remember where I put it - boom boom!

Frank, I shouldn't keep those energy people on so long in the future if I were you. All that energy boost has made you double post! Aren't nuisance calls a pest. I'm getting either quite rude or if it's an 'eastern' voice, I just bang the receiver down. Or if they ask for me by name, I just deny it's me and hang up.

However, we got a 'nice' phone call yesterday afternoon, a friend of ours rang up and asked us to go round for a meal tonight. After all the trauma of last week, it will be a real treat and a change from staying in watching the idiots lantern. Anyway, with recorders you don't miss anything these days, and it helps fill in a 'dead' Wednesday nights viewing.

After my SiL visit from Ireland the other week (Carmel's 80th) we have managed to get in touch with one of Carmel's long lost cousins. Bit of a tragic story, her mother couldn't look after her as a child and she was brought up by her aunt. Then her brother went mad, killed her father with a samuri sword and set fire to the house. Carmel has got a lot of old photos and there are some there that this lady will be so pleased to receive. One's of her family that she's never seen. So I've been busy on the scanner and printer and the results are on there way to Ireland.

Just to totally change the subject, here's a tip. If you find bananas don't last long, wrap them up and keep them in the bottom of the fridge, they keep much longer and in good condition. Believe me, it works.

What a lovely couple of days sunshine we've had. I've actually been out in the garden doing a bit of tidying and clearing up. Have to watch the old back though, don't want to overdo it. I've now found this 'dog oil', and it works great on the old aches and pains.

Anyway, off into the depths of GR to do a bit of research before we head off out. I do wish GR had a 'cut and paste' facilty.

Chat to you all soon.

Thank you all for the photos and jokes.

How old is Harry now Maureen?

Sheila you were brave to travel to Tunisia,,Hope everything is sorted there now,,

Ann ..In a weeks time it will be the anniversary of my mums death,,15 years..My eldest granddaughter was born 9 months after my mums death so I can always keep track of time..Going though some papers my aunt had I found my grand uncle was buried in the same cementary so if the weather is good will try and find his grave while adding flowers to my mums..I know my grandparents were buried there so always add flowers as well.My grt grandparents are there as well but they have one of those flat borders that go around the grave with the writing engraved on.We did clear it once...
We alter the clocks this week earlier than usual..
I seem to have caught my grandchildrens cold I suppose its better than bringing nits home lol...I wish all parents looked after their childrens heads instead of sharing..Wheres nitty Nora when you want her..
We are heading for a hose pipe bann here so want to clean the patio while we can...

I remember when my girls were in junior school Pat, we spent a fortune on nit shampoo, it's pointless if some mothers just ignore the problem. Harry is 10 months old now and can get up the stairs with the speed of lightening trouble is he hasn't learned how to come down yet so you have to be behind him all the time.

I didn't know Beryl had daughters Sheila, must be chaos in her house if they still live at home. I'm happy with the neighbours I have, we all keep ourselves to ourselves, no chats over the garden fence, be a bit difficult, the fence is over 6ft anyway.

Hope you've got over your visit to the eye clinic Shirl. makes my eyes water just thinking about injections.

Your story about your neighbours Frank with the plants reminded me of a few years ago, my dad had grown loads of tomato plants from seed, he offered some to my brother who said ...... no thanks, but I'll have some of your tomatoes when they're ready ......

Enjoyed my Greek meal on mother's day, Finley was as good as gold, sitting at the table like a big boy tucking into olives.

Evening All,

Well after what you said to David Frank I would have thought you fell 'ar*e over t*t'!!!! lol :-D I think you may need to do things a bit slower, you are putting us all to shame. Nasty when you fall like that though, shakes you up for a while. Hope you feel better now.

I bet Fitz is feeling a bit strange and like a fish out of water in hospital. I hated the narrow beds!! Felt like I couldn't move or I would be on the floor. I hope he is early on the list tomorrow, nothing worse than endless waiting and the feeling of panic when a medical person approaches. Hopefully this time tomorrow it will all be done.......then he will be willing the time to fly by so he can go home. They are very strict on visiting times now aren't they to reduce all the bugs in the hospitals.

Sheila, you have certainly boosted the number of posts........I thought I would never get to the end!! Made me chuckle the 'vision' of you giving that cat a hoist over the fence.

Well our paths are filthy after all the work done last year, was hoping to wash them, so I'd better get cracking. Nothing definite about a hose ban here yet.

Oh Sheila 11 posts all the same!! Must be a record.

Did the shopping and back and leg were alright. Glad thats over for another week. Bought another kettle, this time a fast boiler with no element inside just a flat plate at the bottom. Only £12. I was having trouble with the other ones lid. Very hard to get off and get back on properly.

Annx

Annx Report 20 Mar 2012 20:25

Shirl, that sounded a right ordeal with your eyes. I hated it when they placed a magnifying lens actually ON my eye, but the thought of a needle.....makes me shudder.....and you have to have more? I think the monster will be a right little chatterbox when you see her, full of her adventure! lol

Tomorrow I'm off to the records office in Stafford. I'm hoping one of my hunches about a rellie is right! I've been before, but it is a bit of a pain to find and I see that a lot of the carparks near it are for 3 or 4 hours max now. Not much good when you have travelled 50 odd miles and want to make the most of your trip. Don't they want you to look around their shops as well and spend some money!! :-| :-| :-| I would look around the churchyard too if there was time as I had rellies living there as well. On the way back I am hoping to call in a BEAD shop in Lichfield, if I manage to find it! It is a good one so I hope I can.

We had our electric meter changed last year and we were wondering where we were billwise the other day as we'd heard nothing. We pay by direct debit. Well today the provider rang to ask US if we knew when they had fitted the new meter as there had been a bit of a 'mix up' and they didn't know!!! Marvellous!!! :-|

It's me again,

HOLBY is on, so a bit of time to spare.

Jane, Thanks for the list, I will try to get to see it in Northampton. Won't see it again, will we. :-D :-D :-D :-D

Ann, I was talking to Conrad over the weekend, and he seems to think they will be on a hose pipe ban, like I will be. So I would get your paths cleaned now.

When I had my stroke I was put in an overnight ward. I got transfered the following afternoon. When they wheeled me into the ward, they pinched the bed from a guy opposite, as his bed was electric, and bigger than the others. I felt I was cheating him out of his bed. They said my needs were greater than his, as I couldn't sit myself up. I held onto that bed for the month I was in hospital. It could do everything apart from turning me over, and getting me into the chair at the side of the bed !!!!

Ros bought home 10 plastic growing type bags, made by Spear & Jacks#n, They look quite strong, I will be able to grow more Pots, and veg in themThey should be good, carrying that name.!!!! and in Homesen#e they were only £2.99 for TEN.

She also treated me to a pack of smoked Mackerel, and a massive Kipper. That my supper and breakfast sorted !!!! Will have to get the GAVISTO#E out tonight.. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ros has made a necklace for DIL. She wanted one thats 18" long. I will try to photograph it before she packs and posts it.

Tomorrow I hope to make a new door frame to the garage door. It's broken away at the top. I think I have some timber behind the shed, thats been treated, and should fil the bill.

Well I have a couple of beers in the fridge, and a bottle of RED. so i'm off to enjoy my beers, and a glass of red. maybe two !!!!

Ann ,I think he is booked for afternoon op!!!! so he will have a long time to sit and worry :-S :-S.I can just picture him trying to get comfy in that narrow bed with his earphones in listening to classical music.I hope he doesn't suddenly start to 'conducting' lol.You know what he is like.He certainly won't sound like one of the locals :-D :-D :-D.
I am off soon for an early night .Get stuck in to my book .Hopefully I won't snore tonight .Chris said I kept him awake last night :-SI wondered why he kept nudging me. He has been quite stressed tonight (with work stuff) so has gone to bed .he was getting on my pip so I'm glad he's gone.I will wait another 20 minutes or so to make sure he is in the land of nod then I can put my light on to read and know it won't wake him.If it does I will just give him a kick and say "Turn Over".
:-D

Ann could be good for you then with the leccy board not knowing!

Shirl mum had the injections in the eyeball and they did work. She had a bleed on the retina for years in her other eye and lost most of the sight in that one so she was a bit worried about the injections in the eye she could see out of. I think she had three in all but not every month. They also took pics of the bleed and I used to look at the screen and see the difference in the amount of blood they had cleaned up. It was all the time in the hospital that really got her down as you were there for hours at a time.

The first time she had it done it did'nt give her a red white to the eye but the other times it did.

I think I can hear snores coming through the ceiling. So it is safe for me to go to bed and read now :-D

Oh Jane I can just picture that!!!!! :-D They will find he is quite different from most patients I think!! He will be one they remember, won't he!!

Some were saying about memory foam mattresses and we also have them in both rooms and find they are great. They are much lighter in weight than the old mattresses we had too so I can even move them on my own when there is no-one to help (often!). I haven't tried the pillows yet though.

It seems the olympic torch will be going up the Rutland side of Leics. OH said a few folks were not happy about it where his footie team is based the opposite side of the county!! They can't go everywhere though can they.

The talk I went to at lunchtime was about Asylums and Hospitals. Apparently the Lunatic Asylum (as it was called) in the city still exists and is now the University!! It was quite an interesting talk and the admission registers in this area have a lot of detail about the patients and the reason for being admitted. From the 1890s some even have photos of the inpatients.

I learned something I never realised before too, although you all probably already know! The 100 year closure rule doesn't apply to people who are deceased and although you cannot go ferreting through records like registers that have records of other people in them, you can apply for the just the information held in them on a deceased person.

Off to bed for me now......hope clodhopping OH doesn't wake me when he gets home from the match tonight!! Night, night xx
