Afternoon all
Just taking it easy,

MIL has been taken into hospital for a few tests, OH and his brother and wife are there now waiting to hear what the doctors thinks and to see what happens next, once they know whats going on OH will come home as there's nothing he can do.
Doctors were greatly concerned about mums weight as she has not been eating and is very dehydrated.

Been a lovely day weather wise, sun is shining. just been resting and reading my book. managed to put chicken in for dinner but told SIL not to come till after 5, also daughter no 2 will have finished work by then aswell.

Oh Fiona ,that is a worry for your OH.Good thing he has a Brother. It does make a difference having a sibling .I know how difficult it was for you with your Dad.I was so lucky to have Janice when I was having to deal with Mum,even though it was me who was 'in charge' (I hate saying that) but that is the way it was.I could always pick the phone up and discuss things with my Sister.

Good to see you have had nice weather. That makes a change doesn't it ;-) ;-)
We have the rough deal today :-S.But we are so desperate for any drop of rain ,I'm not complaining. We actually need several months of decent rainfall to keep us from the Hosepipe Ban
:-S :-S

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post so you know I'm still in the land of . . Not going to be on long, we've got a gammon joint in the slow cooker and the smell is wafting up the stairs and making me drool.

Fiona, where do you live. It's been raining here all day and it's now blowing a gale with it. Think it's left overs from America, that was awful.

Jane & Pat, I think it was either Fussel's or Fussell's condensed milk brand name. I can remember it.

Frank, sorry to hear you've got 'relations' problems. Sometimes living relatives can be a proverbial pain in the rear.
You mentioned the train from Ongar to Epping. Was that the old steam push-pull one that I used to use when I was in the RAF at North Weald?

Anyway, I'm orf nah, the ol' Derby Kelly is rumbling, I wanna get me ol' hampsteads round the gammon. Dunno if we've got any afters!

Catch you all tomorrer.

Hello all,
Phew !! 1st sit down of the day, I've just made Sunday dinner for 11 people.
Roast pork, roast potatoes, mash., carrots, cauli & brocolli. It was lovely to see my mum, sister & her family. So there is none left to warm up tomorrow. I've never had syrup on warm ups before, but I will try it out another time ot the family, I bet the kids will love it, they both love syrup.
My thoughts are with you Frank regarding your brother and it's nice that you can share your thoughts & know everyone is thinking about you , did you get the jokes I sent you during the week? I have plenty more where they came from to help cheer you up.
I have a pot belly fire & I cook jacket potatoes in it regularly, they are done in no time & somehow taste better than cooked in the oven.
Hope everybody is enjoying what's left of their Sunday, It's been rainy & cold all day here today

Hi Everyone,

It's been bitter here today and with the cold wind William mentioned. Sleet too when we went out. Glad to get back and put the heating on.

You can still get Fussell's ........our local Sains*urys have it as well as the Carn*tion one! :-D

I like the sound of the coffee blancmange your mum used to make Mandy. I bet Jake was chuffed with the pretty primula for his mum. They have such a variety of colours these days and are much bigger than years ago.

I haven't seen that programme here Kim. What is it about? I watched a super programme the other day, all about the convict ships and how the prisoners lived in Australia....it was quite an eye opener. It showed the whips they used with several thongs and there were round lumps of lead attached here and there to the thongs and there could be up to 300 lashes given.....brutal. The awful chains they wore for the duration of their sentence, rivetted so they couldn't be removed. I was curious to see that some would be sent to Tasmania if they tried to escape and I have a rellie who was transported and had a son who was born in Tasmania. Trouble is, up to now I can't find him again in my tree!!!! The son's middle name was Hobart after the Capital. Of course, now I want to know the reason his father was in Tasmania!!

Well done with your meal for 11 Flowers!! Sounds like they all enjoyed it if they polished it all off!! Is that fire like a Chimnea? Jacket potatoes do take a long time in an ordinary oven don't they!

William I live in Hamilton in the county of South Lanarkshire ,Scotland, which is about 1/2 hour from Glasgow. as the folks on here know that Scotland is renouned for wet weather most of the time.
But the weather has been lovely all day, unfortunatly with my sore side I couldn't hang the washing out. so will have to get it on the clothes horse later on.

SIL & daughter no 2 boyfriend is cooking dinner, while daughter no 2 looks after Sofia for a bit. so I can rest and get better.
OH should be home about 7.00pm

Hi all,
Annx: Our fire is a muti fuel burning stove, but we burn wood as my hub is a cabinet maker & he brings home all the off cuts of wood from work. During the summer months we manage to nearly fill the garage with all the wood. It lasts us throughout the year. We've had it in about 5 years & I think it's paid for it's self with all the money we've saved on gas.
Jane: I have 2 children, son Joe 17, he's in the 6th form at school & Daughter Charlotte 13, it's her birthday in 2 weeks.
Joe is thinking about University as he has to put his name down around christmas time but he's worked it out he'll be in £ 45,000 worth of debt & he's wondering if it's worth it with the job situation been what it is. I hope your son finds something soon after all his hard work.

Well it has been sunshine for most of our day but there is a bl**dy cold wind that has been blowing all day too. Did some washing and forgot to put it oput!!

Roast shoulder of lamb for us tonight.

I see from the telly paper we are going to get a four part thingy of Titanic.

David I think Fanny is for a girl rather than a man or boy. Francis is the male spelling and Frances is the female. Men usually go by the shortened name of Frank for Francis.

Ann what's the name of you r man who was transported please?

Evening all,

Sat and watched my West Ham win 2-0 this lunchtime,

I was cooking dinner inbetween, running in and out of the kitchen.

Pork was very popular today. We had a small piece of leg, with Roasts, Parsnips, Brussels, carrots, and cauliflower. Cheese sauce, apple sauce and gravy.

I was looking in the top cupboard this morning and found a bottle of camp coffee. We use to have that as kids, I don't remember ever having powdered coffee till much later.

No William not the old puffer train. The Central Line that ran from Epping to Riceslip sp. Would join the train at South Woodford. for both Epping and Ongar. If you went to Leytonstone, you could change and go round to Romford and beyond.

Ann, Glad you have seen a bit of better weather. It's been horrible here all day, and looks like getting worse.

My EX had a pressure cooker. I came home from a long day at work and she dished up my meal from the pressure cooker. Lamb chope, various veg and potatos. It looked a total mess, which went straight in the bin, and the Pressure cooker had a trip down the garden. !!!! Never to darken the door again.

That is the problem Mel........I can't remember his first name!!! I went all through my tree last night looking at all the men with the right surname and couldn't see the one who had a son born in Tasmania. I'm going to check again tonight in case I missed him somehow, but I am wondering now if I updated my tree with the son born in Tasmania. :-S If not, then the details are somewhere in one of my many notepads!! I will let you know his name when I find him.......and I will......when I have fine tuned my ferreting skills!! lol

Morning all,

Very windy and cold here today but nice bright blue sky.

I watched DOI No boobs William. :-D :-D :-D Perhaps next week. Arn't thney doing well. I think a 10 is on the cards for Mathew next week. When you think they couldn't skate a few weeks ago. Amazing. Do you think it's too late for me to start. :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

Had another early night last night, but to no avail.Still awake long into the night. Feel drained again this morning, will sit and read, and doze in the armchair. Bugger the garden (It will be to wet anyway) after the rain yesterday.

Ann, It must be difficult trying to find people from so long ago. With thanks to you and Mel, I have got as far as I have. I must start trying to get some more on my tree.

I am thinking of getting Conrad to drive me down to Coopersale, Epping. to have a look throught the cemetary and Church records, when the weather gets warmer.. Thats where it appears my Mothers Family came from.

Going to get a coffee now. see you later.

Hope you are all well.

Just thought of something. Ros's friend Martine's uncle aged 93 had a stroke on Sunday. His niece found him and called the Ambulance. He has lost his speach, but seems to have movement in his limbs.

He was suppose to go on a coach holiday today with one of his mates. They were able to let the old boy know what had happened to OLD GEORGE. and he decided to go alone. Old folk seem to have such stamina, that I feel he will pull through, and be home again soon.

Morning All,

Cold, windy and sunny here, so the washing machine is whirring away. I had a slice of toast last night and put some marmalade on it. While I ate it I managed to get marmalade all down my top and my trousers so they are in the wash now!! I need a bib!! :-D

The trip out with Conrad will be good Frank. I found a few of my rellies in the churchyard at Rugeley when I went there a couple of years ago and some headstones showed other relatives too. Always worth a look. I just photographed all those with the family surname on and then checked with my tree when I got home. I never thought to find out who held the cemetry records, so might do that and hopefully find all those who didn't have a headstone which would be most of my family I think!!! Mel has found you quite a lot on your tree so it will be good to get stuck in again and find some more.

We had a call from MIL very early this morning. She has made an appointment to see the doctor and we should hear from her shortly. We couldn't really make sense of what she described, even when OH rang her back. She said she had bleeding just at each end of her very, very old hysterectomy scar and needle like pains. We thought she meant like a bruise, but she said she can wipe it away. The doctor has recently taken her off her water tablets as she said they didn't suit but we'll have to see if that is a cause or if it is an infection or something else.

Well, I'd better get back to labelling the boxes that are to go back up in the loft.......about half what there were!! Then everywhere needs a good spring clean.........a bit at a time though I think!!! :-S

Annx Report 5 Mar 2012 11:49

Hope your MIL is ok Fiona and it is good your side is improving. I always seem to wrench something when I do something out of the ordinary these days. Best wishes to your OH in his interview today.

Meant to say how good the standard is now in DOI. I like the Emmerdale boy too but the others are very good as well. It was right Andy should go, he has always seemed a bit round shouldered and stiff to me. He is a brilliant singer though!!!
