Morning David and All,

If you have oil in the water sytem David dos'nt that mean a head gasget gone??

Another dry day here with some sunshine.

OH just getting ready to go ringing for church.

Glad you had a nice day yesterday Jane with little Ethan and his parents. I can imagine the chat that was going on. Poor Chester he will be glad to have you all to himself today after being shut away yesterday.

Must do some ironing today!!

David Report 23 Oct 2011 10:09

Yes Melanie, that's the most likely diagnosis.
I was having to top up the sump oil far too often.
Should have suspected it sooner.

It's an expensive repair, time parts labour etc
I will look for a replacement.

Morning Mel ,David and everyone.

Sounds serious David !.I know absolutely nothing about car engines, except for where the Dipstick is and where to put the water for the Windscreens.

Well it is a greyish morning here. Not a breath of wind ,which is very unfortunate for Fitz and the others down the lane as the smoke is looking quite thick over there. The poor horses are just stuck there breathing it all in .
I know there are 2 pregnant mares, and Katherine (the owner) is just praying that the foals won't be affected.

Chester is out with Chris now.Yes Mel I'm sure he is pleased that BABY has gone lol.We only shut him in the kitchen for short periods while Ethan just had a kick around on the floor.
James and Jess have requested a Roast today .I seem to have done a lot of roasts lately. So it is a small Lamb Joint and a Chicken Crown, with all the usual .Jess is going back to Uni at Canterbury this afternoon so it will be an early (ish) meal.I better get my skates on and getting peeling the potatoes and veg.
Back later.

Morning everyone,

Sunny here so we're off to the coast in a while , just got to top up with petrol first.

David doesn't sound too good on the car front !! i don't know any thing about cars, i leave that to hubby, but i do know that oil and water don't mix !! so as Frank says ...more expense !!

Enjoy your roast Jane, i think it will be fish and chips for us , they taste so much better at the coast !!

Jane Report 23 Oct 2011 14:13

Fiona,it's not long now to wait to get rid of your dratted Gall Bladder. Then hopefully you will begin to feel much better.
Well the first serving has been done.James and Jess have had their roast and are ready to go out to see some of James 's friends before Jess gets the train.
So it will now be second serving for Chris and Me.I haven't cooked the veg yet so it will be a little while yet.
It is turning out to be a nice afternoon and really quite warm.Poor old Chester is walking around with a bad limp so `i have just given him a painkiller .He will be conked out very soon.

Frank is Lewis with you for the whole of Half term?I don't know if you said. With all the hiccups on GR I think I have missed lots of posts.

Had our lunch and just done the washing up.

It is so windy today here. I heard an almighty crash and the new pot I bought for the Christmas tree had blown across the patio and hit the gate and shut that too. I moved it and found some polystyrenen to put in the bottom for drainage and broke that up and put it in the bottom. Came in and did something else and went back out!! Not one scrap of polystyrene in the pot all stuck against the clemetis with the wind. I have now just managed to get it back inthe pot and put beer bottles on it to make it stay there.

Frank Report 23 Oct 2011 14:51

Afternoon all,

We had an early dinner today, I did all the veg when I got up. It had to be roast pork (Lewis's favourite) Have just cleared away, and Ros is finishing off the washing up and spraying her Deto# around so everywhere is nice and clean.

The reason for early dinner is that his "Lordships" Chelsea are playing at 4pm and I have beeb instructed to take him up the club. (not really instructed) ASKED. Any excuse for a bit of Football and a pint.

Jane he will be with us till next Sunday. He has his week planed out Monday he's going sloe picking with me. While his Mum goes out to a certain shop with Ros. I think "MORE EXPENCE" Tuesday it's the cinema, Wednesday. Golf Range, Thursday Cinema again with Ros and Martine, (Her saturday shopping friend) Friday Swimming. Sat lunchtime Football watching up the club. Sunday he will go home. I will be glad of the rest. !!!!

David, Can't you get a local mechanic, who will do the head for you.??? It will work out a lot cheaper than another car.

Hope you had a nice afternoon on the coast Mandy, ENJOY your F & Cs

Frank

Frank Report 23 Oct 2011 17:04

We are not "HAPPY BUNNIES" We walked down the pub first, as it is closer than the club. It was closed after Sunday Lunches, and won't open till 7.00pm. So we walked up the club. Everywhere was open but no one there. I put the T.V on, and after 10 minutes the treasurer walked in. He said the club is closed as we haven't any bar staff, I said a few choice words, as you can imagine. The bar times are Noon till 6pm Sunday, so we had the walk home, and now got the radio on in the conservatory. Chelsea one nil down and two players sent off and it's only half time.

Lovely at the coast , loads of people about , fish and chips went down a treat .

That was a bit of a swizz Frank , walking to the club and finding no one about, and Lewis had it all planned too :-)

Jane, Ethan is a dear little boy ,his little hat and booties are cute ,i can see how he's grown since the last photo :-)

Time to feed Toby , he's giving me the look !!

Hi Bunnies!!

What lovely things Lewis says Frank, he seems such a nice boy. It sounds as if he is in for a good week's entertainment with you. You will need a rest after as you say. I agree with you about fireworks, OH said the ones I heard would be because of Diwali, so I expect we will get a lot more now.

I love Ethan in his little hat and boots you got for him Jane.....so cute and a happy, smiley face!! Poor Chester will be wondering where his 'new' toys have gone now. :-S

David I thought cylinder head too. I would get 1 or 2 quotes too. Often when the head gasket goes, the cylinder head warps too and needs grinding flat.....all quite a costly business as a lot of labour stripping down is needed. OH had this trouble many years ago on a car only 2 years old and we suspect the garage hadn't tightened the head bolts on the first service. I remember the repair was very expensive, but that was at a dealer's, but the car was troublefree after and he did over 100,000 miles in it afterwards.

Hope you have had a nice time at the coast Mandy.......drooling here at the thought of your seaside F & C. :-D

I have had a quiet day today as my back is still playing up.......taken tablets to see if it helps. I have ordered another book OH wants for Xmas.........Charles Dickens, A Life. I must start working on a list for me soon!! :-D :-D

I'm looking forward to Dow*ton tonight and Stephen Fry.

We're fine Frank, just had a very busy weekend! My cousin (over from Australia) and my Aunt (her mother) came to lunch today, plus Laura and the children! they have just gone (whew, they are quite wearing!) so we are settling down for an evening of Telly! Yesterday, we were busy with housework (yuk) and gardening, a huge bonfire was made, and today Edward helped (?) Ian with burning and 'feeding' it. Alice had a go on Merlin while Polly and I took dogs walking, and chatted non-stopped with our visitors! I'm having to use Ian's computer for the time being as the charger for my lap-top seems to have stopped working, so of course the battery has run down!! should be able to either fix it, or buy a new charger, (more expense!!) Tomorrow a Dr's appointment to sort out our pills, after that to Tetbury to sign on at the Dentist! Very windy here, but dry so far!

Fastflow, paert of the water company have been digging up our street to replace the iron water pipe with PVC.

Two or three times the water supply has been disconnected, but we have been warned a day or two in advance.

Tonight without warning the supply is disconnected, and they're not working. An inconvenient annoyance !!

If we had been given 10 minutes notice I would have filled the bath.
