Hi Dave(Dopeydoc). I wasn't allowed ~Gobstoppers ......but I did.Not allowed Bubblegum......but I did :-D :-D :-D.Chewing Gum I was allowed (can't remember what age).and ~I would chew it until all the flavour had gone, then add a bit of toothpaste to it and then leave it on my bedside table ready for the morning lol My sister somehow got hold of some chewing gum and fell asleep with it .In the morning she woke and it was all stuck around her neck and hair.I must ask her if she remembers all hell being let loose that morning :-D :-D
Remember the desks at school??? with all gum stuck underneath :-S :-S. The young ones now will just have different memories than we did.But I think we had a lot more fun with the freedom to go off and do whatever we wanted.Just riding my bike off over the cliffs (not the edge) with my friend Anne and taking a picnic in our little saddlebags .There was always a boiled egg :-S Happy Days :-D :-D

Evening All,
Many thanks for the pics and emails everyone.......love to get them all and have a chuckle.
Mandy, that made me laugh, the image of Toby with his ears flapping in the wind!! I'm glad mine don't!! lol.
We had a rude awakening at 1.30am with next door's burglar alarm going off!! We didn't know it was next door's till this morning as we couldn't see anything through the window. Luckily for us it stopped after about 20 minutes.........last time it was on intermittently for hours! This morning we saw the light flashing and we think they must be away. We took MIL and FIL out for lunch today and took his presents to their house (a few days early for his 92nd). They really enjoyed their meal and FIL was very pleased with his presents.
Then we popped into Hinckley as a new bead shop has opened there and I wanted to see what they sold, despite having to get up the stairs to see!! lol. What a nice place.....the lady who is running it is so helpful and friendly. She does taught workshops at £25 a day inc lunch, but you can drop in any day and bring your beading to do there free and can help or teach each other. She has books and magazines you can look through for inspiration too. She's also doing reasonably priced day trips to the NEC Craft fair and other places. Shirl, she had a very close inspection of the 'Cleopatra' necklace I was wearing!! I also met a lady from our class there and we were both amazed at some of the beautiful intricate things she had made up. I think I will be going back!! :-D
Jane, it sounds like you are nearly back to normal now with your new freezer in position. :-D It must be quite a relief!
The wind has been really blustery here today and blew down quite a few fir cones off the tree at the front. They are long thin cones and look like dog doos from a distance, but I've picked them all up now.
I watched Mr S I'd recorded the week before and found it a bit better so I might watch the latest one too.

Hi, Dopeydoc, you are so right. I think we seemed to have more fun. Me and my friend used to look for discarded pop bottles to take back for the money and then use it to go swimming or to the cinema (both only a quarter of a mile away). Jane, the picnic reminded me of ones we would take with us too. We always seemed to have strawberry jam sandwiches in ours!! With the chewing gum I used to pop another strip in my mouth with the old one when the flavour started to go. After a few strips you could blow some impressive bubbles which mum hated us to do. Do you remember that flourescent pink gum too......it had a funny taste, probably the 'e' numbers. I loved the penny toffee strips in different flavours, treacle, banana, chocolate and wasn't the spearmint one green?

So nice to hear from you again Dave. I think you are the only one who remembers the lemonade crystals. I am not talking about the lemonade powder we used to buy in the sweet shop. You can still get that here in Devon.
Where abouts are you in the country Dave, please?
Remember the small aniseed in the middle of the gob stoppers?

I'm glad your FIL enjoyed the meal and pressies Ann.That shop sounds 'fantabulous ' for you :-D Those toffee bars were lovely .Was the Banana one with Chocolate.I seem to remember the paper wrapping always getting stuck to the toffee after a few sucks lol and then trying to peel it away.Often ending up though with bits of paper in your mouth :-S I was always told if you ate paper you got WORMS :-S :-S
I am going to sign off now and get ready for bed.I haven't watched any TV tonight so don't know if I have missed anything. Got my Kindle waiting for me :-D
I was thinking of Fiona just now.I hope she is OK.

Morning all/Evening kim,
Haven't looked at the drains yet. All feed and watered still in dressing gown. Breakfast was crumpets (4) with MY MATE. two large mugs of tea
Ros is in the shower, I wonder if she wants her back washed ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) TESTOSTERINE playing HAVOC
I will put my old togs on, and do a bit with the drains, I have found my drain rods, so will see if I can rod it from the man hole, as there is not room from the drain end. Will let you know how I get on.

Afternoon All,
Hope you manage to clear the drain Frank now you have your rods to use. At least it is nicer weather for doing it today although it is still blustery. I hope you can keep up with your testosterone! :-)
About 5 minutes after I got out of bed this morning I seemed to twist a muscle in my side. It feels like I have stitch all the time, hurts when I breathe and to move it or reach for anything. I managed to get to the opticians to get my second new pair of glasses, which are fine now, thank goodness, but just wanted to come home afterwards which is not like me as I usually potter round the other shops too. OH keeps chuckling, but I told him if it gets any worse I shall need one of those 'hand on a stick' aids for the bathroom!! :-S lol. All my plans for getting on with HW and washing today while he is at 2 meetings have gone out of the window......I might just have to sit and do some beadwork instead!
I think I saw that the programme that reveals whether it is Richard 111 they found in the city will be on tv next Monday. They have an exhibition arranged here for a few days after so I don't think they would be doing that if it isn't him!! We were saying the other day when we were walking in the snowy woods on the Battle trail that once it is announced and if it is him they will be putting new information boards along there and that there will be far more visitors.
Yes, let's hope Fiona is ok and will be back with us soon.

I given up with the drain, after running hot water and plunging the drain, I lifted the manhole cover and saw which hole I had to rod. Got four rods up the drain and started to and fro with the rods. Then as I pulled them out the rod snapped. I had to get down (not easy) onto my stomach and reach down the drain to get hold of the broken end. Fortunately I could reach it, and managed to pull it out. I then strugled to get up, by pulling on the fence. I now feel comletely wrecked, arms, legs back and shoulders aching. I am just going to sit in the shower, and have it as hot as I can stand. (Oh how I miss a bath) I rang Harvey, and he will come up this evening and CLEAR it. He has the bit of kit he needs. I have left everything open, so hope the cate don't venture down to see what's happening. !!!
Speak to you later.

So you didn't manage to flush yourself away then Frank. Are you still in the shower?? What a pain though with having that drain still blocked.
It is tonight now that I am meeting my BBrother. He just rang to say he has arrived at his hotel. He said there is a massive Gypsy Funeral and there are hundreds of Gypsies here.I remembered before that a lot of pubs and restaurants close when an event like this happens,so I think we will just eat where he is staying and not venture into town.Better safe than sorry :-D
I have lots to get done this afternoon so had better not stop and gossip.Hopefully will be back sometime later.

You are really good at finding interesting places and shops Ann, sounds perfect for you the new bead shop. Something to pass on: if you buy any blank cards from Ho**ycraft check them before you leave. I've just bought a pack of 5 and when I got home found there were only 4 cards and 5 envelopes, it would probably cost me more to take them back, it's not the first time, I bought some before and when I opened them half of them were like postcards instead of cards,I shall definitely check them before I leave in future.
Hope all goes well with your BBrother Jane, why has he contacted you now I wonder.
I'm off tomorrow night to see Flavia and Vincent's Midnight Tango show, should be good.

Oh Maureen I wish I was going to see them 'live'. I saw the show when it was beamed to some cinemas from a theatre where they were performing. It was FANTASTIC!!!! :-D It is dancing from start to finish, superb. They are brilliant at the Argentine Tango which is my favourite dance. You will love it!! :-D
Thanks for the tip about the cards as I have bought cards from there in the past and other bits and bobs too. I will be checking all the packets I buy too from now on.
Mandy, I have just found and scanned the bauble pattern instructions ready to send to you. (there are pictures to help as well) Tomorrow I will look for the 'tools' thing I sent before and then send both. (probably later as OH will be here doing his notes for ages!) A few of my older baubles didn't make it to the loft as I want to do 1 or 2 more too!! :-D
I wonder if Frank has free flowing drains now? What a nuisance that happening particularly this time of the year. I think I will try a hot shower too before bed tonight....see if it eases my side.....it's been a right nuisance today, seems to give me gyp whatever I do!! lol.
I hope Jane hasn't run off with the gipsies!! lol. They are usually big affairs and I would want to be home early I think before too much alcohol was flowing!!.
Mel, it's nearly 11 months isn't it!!! I bet Hogwart will be itching to be off before long.....you will miss his parties!! :-D
