OMG William I think remember that Adam and Eve thing. That would have been in the early 60's.... I think it is lovely the way young children today still know some of the old games and songs that we all sang and played.

I just had a call from Darren's mum.The new Baby is called Zach and weighed in at 6lb 2oz..I wonder what Ethan makes of his new little Brother???

I'm gutted.........I found my brand new leather boots outside today .Soaking wet.All the nice fluffy lining sodden.I forgot that I put them out there after getting diesel all over the soles. They will have to sit in the airing cupboard now until they have dried out.I have only worn them 3 times :-S

Had a call from Fiona....She now is being referred on to another Consultant as she is is a bit of a mystery .She might have to have a Lumbar Puncture done next :-S.She still sounded more herself which was nice to hear. She is just so fed up not knowing the real reason why she is having all this problem with her head. I said that everyone is still thinking of her :-D

Have just finished dinner and watching the JUNGLE.

Evening All,

No I didn't make the call..........I only thought that was what I heard and when I worked people would come in on the counter saying worse than that!! Also I have had other things worrying me. I discovered that my ex had died of an asbestos related disease that could affect me as well from living with him. It can be decades after exposure before symptoms show. He never worked with asbestos while I was with him but it could have been in the building. The firm closed 17 years ago and I have no way of knowing whether he was exposed to it before or after we split, so don't know what the risk might be.

I see the mystery is solved.......the baby, another little boy, has arrived then Jane. It's good Fitz has found somewhere for his mum, but it must be difficult knowing what to sort out for her.

William, my dad used to say that rhyme but slightly different.....he said 'pinch me tight' so that would be the answer at the end! He also used to say the one about 'Around the rugged rock, the ragged Robin ran'.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Nov 2012 22:16

My dad said those too Ann and William.

He also used to sing the scouts songs to me when I was young.

David I was'nt talking about the numbers you can ring now to find out who has called you if they leave a number. There is a number you can ring to stop nuisance calls. They don't stop them all but we don't get as many now as we used to .

Jane, the Adam & Eve rhyme was used when I was at school in the early 50's, so it's got a good long history. When my two children were young, they had an aunty (not a 'real' aunty) who they had loved dearly and were loved right back. When she used to look after them she would do this recurring tale and they would sit goggled eyed, even though they knew it so well. It went -
It was a dark and stormy night, and the Captain said to the Mate ,
Hey Mate, tell me a story,
And the story began - "It was dark and stormy night" - and on and on it went till everyone got fed up with it.

Another rather naughty one (may have told this before) was this
High in the mountains, green grew the grass
Down came an elephant,
sliding on it's elbow.....

Of course if my two repeated it to anyone who didn't know the end, they sat there aghast expecting a naughty word.

Nowadays, you hear young people out and about using the 'F' wordly so freely it makes me cringe. It would be awful if children repeated it. What gets me is that it's often girls that use it. I would never have dared swear in front of my parents, anyone I didn't know , and NEVER in front of females. But then again I wouldn't use the real worst of words.
I think my late brother had the right idea. He hardly ever swore, not even a bl**dy', but when he did, it was so rare that it actually endorsed his point!.
I think swearing is an excuse for a failure to use English as it should be used.

Sermon over - going to put the washing out now (not that I think it will dry for one moment - oh, clothes dryer out later on...

C Y A L - have a good one . . . . . ;-)

Morning all and evening Kim,

Nice to see you posting Kim and can't wait to see your daughter in her lovely teal blue dress.

Well it started off dull this morning but the sun is out at the moment. How long for is anybodys guess.

Hogwart did'nt come out last night but one plate of food was eaten. The other one was'nt touched by 10.22pm. This morning it was empty. I really don't know now if I am feeding a hedgehog or a rat! or the stoat oh has seen in the garden. This morning on the first plate of food there was a mouse dropping so the little blighters are finishing off the jelly left on the plate andthe crumbs from the dried food.

Oh just asked my what I wanted for Christmas and I said a new pair of shoes. He said I can't buy you those!! He offered to buy me one of those cameras that take pics at night with a movement. They will only be black and white and not very clear but it will tell me who and what I am feeding out there in the garden at night. I said YES PLEASE.

MORNING. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAUREEN. 21 again today I suppose <3 <3 <3

Got up this morning to beautiful sunshine, now the dark clouds are looming overhead, will soon need the lights on.

Conrad sat with me last night while the girls were out. They said the show was great. The "POSH" seats £50.00 plus were almost empty, while the "GODS" £18.50 were packed. You would think the theatre would learn something from that, wouldn't you ??? Good old Frank treated them to the Tickets.

Ros gave Julia £20.00 for Lewis, to buy what he wants, for getting such a good report. I bet that goes in his money box. Why spend "HIS" money when he can spend his M & Ds

Kim, What has your daughter got in ming for work, now that school is over ??? Not the bank of M & D I hope. lol lol

Mel, It could be you are feeding the surrounding animals with all that you put out. A camera would be great, if you can see who comes and goes.. What will you do if they are VERMIN. stop feeding all together or just put it in hogwarts house ???

Will, The amount of bad language you hear now is terrible. A few months ago I walk passed a group of teenagers effing and blinding. I said "If you were mine I would wash your mouths out with soap and water" They just smirked and ignored me. My, did my blood boil, but what can you do. If that had been in my teenage years, the person would have clipped your ear. and told their parents. So, who do you blame. ??? When Lewis starts with Bloo#y, I say where did you get that. He says I hear much worse when driving with my MUM.

Ros is off with Carolyn, for the midweek shop, and a nosey around, she will be home when she's ready. I have a nice peaceful day till then !!!

Jane next time you speak to Fiona, give her my love. It does seem strange that they haven't been able to find the cause of all this trouble she is going through.

Off to put out more seed and fat balls, then a coffee and a read.

SYL.

Laughed at Lewis hearing worse from mum when she is driving!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Hoovered all through the kitchen and sucked up all the cobwebs while the sun is out and I can see them. Back door is wide open letting the fresh air in. It is still seautifully sunny at hte mo and the washing is on the line.

I should go to Holsworthy this afternoon for chicken food. Will see how I feel after lunch which |I must do now.

Oh's lathe started making a funny knocking noise yesterday and he rang up the makers and they are sending him a new motor which should arrrive today. He has had a parcel of special woods arrive so he can make some nice pots and lids in different colours. that is keeping him quiet for a while.

Must get lunch now as he will be coming in soon.

Thank you all so much for your birthday wishes and beautiful cards. Birthday or no birthday people still want their ironing done, but at least it was a light load today. Will be sharing a bottle of wine with my friend this evening. Sunday will be the family do, I suggested they all come here, usually we go out for a meal for my birthday, but they are all strapped for cash and it will be easier with daughter and new baby. A couple of big fat chickens should do us and they are all bringing something, stuffing, puddings etc.

I would love to see the photos of your daughter Kim, I bet she looked stunning in her dress.

I wish I had been in your house Frank when you made rock cakes, the smell would have taken me right back to my childhood. Saturday was always my mum's baking day, and we would pinch the rock cakes off the cooling tray when they were too hot even to hold.

What did Ros see at the theatre?

I think TV should take some of the blame for the way the younger generation swear. Especially comedians who stick in the F word to get a laugh. To me it's a sign of a poor knowledge of English. Oh gawd I am getting old :-0

:-D :-D :-D A VERRRRRYYYYYY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAUREEN ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Frank, I totally agree. I was thinking this morning, my parents were humble folks, working class - BUT they had a proper sense of things. I'm so glad my Dad taught me proper manners, ie; pardon, excuse me, walk on the outside of your lady, hold doors open, be respectful, table manners etc etc.
I'm glad to see that my grand daughter and her husband are bringing up little Ralph with all the right respect and manners. Thank goodness it's not entirely dead!!

Carmel is a little better today and has had lunch of egg & tomato boiled and chopped up, on top of soft slightly toasted bread. However girls, if you want to go on a diet - she's lost 4lbs over the last week!!! Can't say the shopping bill's got any cheaper LOL

Hi all,

Still home alone.

Shepherds pie tonight, with cabbage and carrots. All made and waiting to go in oven this evening.

Just had a cup if tea and THREE rock cakes. Well they aren't that big !!!

Ment to tell you, I laid in bed listening to the radio. He played a lot of oldies. Frankie Lane, Guy Mitchell, Vera Lynn,Bing, Nat King Cole. and lots more. It's a local Radio show covering the Eastern England. The compare is Keith Schews It's on 10 pm - 1 am Sunday nights. Well worth a listen, if you are awake at that time and live in the area.

What a grand day it turned out to be after all. The sun is so bright out there that you can't look at it. I'm still in shorts with nothing on top. It will be down to the all togethers, when she gets home and the heating goes on. ONLY JOKING HONEST :-D :-D :-D :-D Not a pretty sight !!!

Might go down to watch England play tonight. The trouble is I have three lots of beads coming up to the finishing post at 8.30 ish So will have to put bids on before I go out and just hope I win them. If not will have to look for more.

Yes Mel, What's JANE upto. Not more men in the house I HOPE ;-) ;-) ;-)

Will, I have been taking Devils Claw since Sat. and I'm sure my fingers/thumbs are feeling a bit better. Lets hope it continues, then I will be able to start running. But there again, I couldn't run before !!! :-D :-D :-D
