Morning All, :-D

A few spots of rain here earlier, but now it is just dull and overcast. OH was up very early this morning. They were desperate for an Invigilator at the exams at one of the city schools, so, although he doesn't do it any more, he agreed to this one off. He was pacing up and down the hall earlier to check whether his shoes squeaked!!!! lol.

Yes, I think collecting the hens' eggs and seeing what they have laid still seems exciting. My brother as a toddler loved to come and help do that......his little eyes would be nearly as big as the eggs when he lifted the lid on the nestboxes. lol Do you think the new hens will be put off laying for a few days while they settle in Mel?

We watched a recording of the first of the new Michael Portillo (or Poorlytoe as I call him!) train series about journeys across Europe last night. It was really good and we're looking forward to the rest of the series.

The window cleaners are here so I'd better get their money ready. I think I will be doing some HW then........plenty of dust to shift and the bathroom grouting needs 'intensive care'. :-S

Morning all,

Ann the old saying was "if you had squeeky shoes, you hadn't paid for them"

Hissing with rain here as we speak. It wasen't suppose to come till this afternoon.

That girl from Corrie is going to get some stick from the public, allways crying and screaming. Likewise that little twerp from Made in Chelsea (NEVER SEEN IT) !!!!

All ls Tickerty Boo at home now, we are talking. !!!

Ros, Jan,and Julia are off to Milton Keynes Theatre tomorrow evening to see phantome of the opera. Conrad is coming down to spend the evening will me.He will be able to clear the computer of all the Cra# that seems to build up, and slows it down.

Jane and Ann I have PMd you

Jane

Jane Report 12 Nov 2012 10:28

Morning/Evening All

Just nipping in swiftly for now.James said Rachel (Dubai) rang when I was out with Chester....Said she will call back !!!!!!

Frank I can't see any PM yet...........The rain hasn't arrived here just yet.

Annx

Annx Report 12 Nov 2012 11:22

Got your PM Frank and have sent a reply. Glad you and yours are speaking again!

Well, that is a turn up for the books Jane!!!! I wonder what she will say to you??

The window cleaners never even rang the bell and I just heard them put a note through the door. They must have thought we were out with OH's car not being here. I ended up chasing up the close in my slippers after the chap to pay him!! He reckoned he rang the bell, but I was in the room right next to the front door so I'm not so sure.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Nov 2012 11:30

Morning All and Evening Kim,

What a morning and what a night I had. I could not go to sleep as I was soooooooooo hot. Pushed all the covers off changed position time and time again. Eventually I must have fallen asleep but it seemed like I had laid there all night awake. I was getting so cross with myself.

Thanks for the chalk man Frank. I enjoyed those. Must be such a clever man..............Did I spot a mirror in one of the pics? I wonder if thats how he does it????

That horrid fine drizzle here today and it dos'nt look like it is going to give up!! Horrid and I hate it as it gets everywhere...........

Well I opened up the nest boxes this morning to find 7 eggs. My old ones had'nt laid as I did'nt recognize any of these and they are a bit smaller!! So it is off up to the table to get rid of some eggs......... I may get one from the old ones and I expect they will go off lay in a couple of days untill they get used to my feed. They have been on mash but they get pellets here and corn in the afternoon to carry them through the night.

Shopping today too so I won't see much of your posting today till tonight.

Jane I wonder if Rachael is going to apologize???????Is it getting near the time for the new baby??

Frank

Frank Report 12 Nov 2012 13:27

We have a visitor. Lara and the baby. I have been sitting having a cuddle. Such a sweet little thing, she hasn't made a sound.

Lara was hungry as usual. I made her a ham omelette, which she devoured in seconds, then muffins and tea. !!! To see her you wouldn't think she ate anything. Perhaps she only eats when someone cooks for her :-D :-D :-D

Have just had a load of FAT BALLS arrive together with a little shelter to hang the fat ball under. It saves the rain and wind getting at it.

More phone calls by the day, It now seems to be getting 4/5 a day. I get to the stage I could scream at them "LEAVE ME ALONE"

Rachael phoneing, What's she after. a good ear to let off steam too. ???? Hows their marriage going, do you have contact with any other family member. ??

Still a horrible day here, I have just been out to bring the bins in. quite a bit of water in them.

Will, I thought of you Yesterday, and guessed you would have to be at home with Carmel. also today when I made the omelette. Sge liked mine, so not bad result.

SEVEN eggs Mel, when your others start again you will be flooded with them, can't you sell them to the local shop. ??? I know you won't be able to keep up a permanent supply, but it would be nice for their customers to get "FRESH" eggs, now and again.

Cold Pork, Jacket potato and a bit of iffy tonight.

Going for a read now. See you later.

Jane

Jane Report 12 Nov 2012 13:59

Well she hasn't called back ! Maybe she has lost her nerve lol.I'm hoping she was ringing to finally apologise for her behaviour.(we will see).If she does I will be happy to put it all behind us now.But it does have to come from her.My lot still say no to me getting in touch.(I know they are right)
Her baby is due in December sometime and I have no idea how things are .I do keep in touch with her Aunty and her Brother. Her Aunty hadn't heard anything the last time I spoke to her and her Brother is hopeless at communicating but he knows how I feel .

It is dark and miserable with light rain.A day to stay indoors for sure.Just watching Doctors now and then a bit more clearing up or ironing :-S

William

William Report 12 Nov 2012 14:35

Jane, Carmel was telling me more about other workers who caught her bus back when she was a clippie in St Helens. They worked at the Pilkington Glass factory and knocking off time they would come out covered in fine glass like fibre glass. She said you could see them itching as they got on the bus. Just think, like the cotton workers, that would have got on their lungs too!

I was watching Bargain Hunt this morning when I got back from a quick shop. The two ladies on the Red Team had two Staffordshire jugs among their buys. The guys on the Blue Team had a bronze pen and ink stand with two walnuts for the inkwells. When it came time for the auction, Tim Wonnacot says to the girls, "Now let's have a look at your jugs...."- Then when it was the guys turn he says to them, "let's see what we can do with your nuts...." - Well, all that before the 9pm watershed!!!! No wonder the BBC is in trouble . . .

Will you give your new girls some names Mel? nice little start having 7 eggs on the first morning .

Oh Frank , isn't it nice to have a cuddle with a baby, you don't want to let go do you ,well that is until they start to yell :-S :-D then it's nice to hand them back .

Oh i say William :-D :-D :-D :-D LOL
Oh new photo, i like the hat !! :-D

Jane

Jane Report 12 Nov 2012 15:43

Ooh Look William has got his Xmas hat on :-D :-D
It must have been dreadful working in conditions with no safety wear William .Just imagine breathing all those fine fibres and glass stuff.Would it be like sand? Am I right in thinking sand is used in glass making?

Jugs and Nuts from Mr Wonnacott ....tut tut :-D the little devil.

Mandy you might be right about the fact Rachel's baby is not too far off and she is missing contact.I wonder if she screwed up courage to ring this morning and then lost it when I wasn't here.I think I will just maybe send her an email just to say I'm sorry I was out when she rang and maybe she could try again tomorrow. At least that way she will know I am willing to talk.Gawd what a state of affairs :-S

I am in the middle of dragging out all my dining furniture damp dusting it all and polishing, hoovering the curtains...sneezing my head off....Tonight we will actually be able to sit up at the table for dinner :-D :-D
Must get it finished now as time is going on.BBL

Very dull and wet here today.

I wa\s thinking the same thing Jane, now Rachel's baby is due quite soon she may be feeling isolated. Hope she does want to apologise and not stir up bad feelings.

Love the new photo William, you are getting into the Christmas spirit I see ;-)

I need to get a new printer, any advice would be welcome. Don't know the pros and cons for laser as opposed to inkjet. Have looked on ebay and there are a couple of new colour laser printers on there, for about £35 seems a bit too cheap to me.

Jane

Jane Report 12 Nov 2012 17:38

Maureen she is one never known to back down and see that she is in the wrong lol.I can't tell you many people she has fallen out with over the years.Maybe she realises that she doesn't have many people left.Who knows.I have just sent a very short and simple email saying if she would like to try and call again tomorrow we can have a chat.

I don't know anything about Printers ,but just asked James. He said it depends what you need to use it for.If just photos etc an Inkjet one would be fine, just depends how much you want to spend. The cheaper obviously will not be such good quality as a more expensive one.

Well I have cleaned and scrubbed and now have hands like balloons :-S.Time to stop I think for today :-D

Dinner tonight which I know Chris will not be impressed with is Poached eggs on Bubble and Squeak cakes.Mushrooms,Asparagus and `baby carrots.
James can do his own.He is having Tortellini with Pesto as he doesn't eat eggs.

Had a postcard from Iceland today.....Hannah has been back a week lolol

Maureen, For what it's worth. I have a CANNO# MX 410 which Ros bought for me for under £40.00 It copies, scans and has a fax as well as printer. It came from Staple# about 9 months ago. It has been great, and I have only had ro replace the Black ink a week ago.. The prices have come down a lot now, so £35.00 should be O.K.

Will "Where did you get that HAT oh where oh where oh where" Sorry mate !!!! The song just came to mind ;-) ;-) ;-)

What a terrible day, there was so much I wanted to do outside. LIAR LIAR. pants on fire. !!! not fit to put a dog out in it. <3 <3 <3 Poor old Mocha, Chester, and ??? sorry forgot the other name (FIDO, FRED, GEORGE, BERT, BRUNO ) ?????

Jackets have been in the over for 2 hours. Rubbed in Olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt. Coleslaw all made. so will go and get them dished up. feeling hungry now.

Ohhh....errrr very fetching William!! lol. If I'd been on that programme I wouldn't have been able to keep a straight face.

Jane I hope that it is because the baby is nearly due and that there isn't more trouble between them. :-S :-S You don't need any lodgers do you........season of goodwill!!

Maureen I have an inkjet one which we find is fine for letters and for photos, but they say the laser ones make sharper prints and they are quieter too. If I were you I would go into somewhere like P C W*rld and ask one of the staff to advise you. What I would also check is whether you can change the ink pack colours individually. If one colour goes you have to replace the lot on some. I need to make some enquiries myself as I want a printer that will take different thicknesses and print on card.

Have you clipped their wings Mel? Good that they have laid you some eggs. :-D

OH said there was only one white girl out of 20 sitting the exam this morning. He was glad to get back........sitting still or doing nothing is not his thing at all.

I have been sorting through some old papers and magazines I have on my bookshelves as the bin men will be here tomorrow. With a bit of shuffling stuff around as well I think I may have another shelf for my bead stuff which will be brilliant as it will all be together then.

Will I love the new pic so please keep it on there for Christmas.

Maureen oh has a laser printer but every time the ink runs out he just buys a new one as the cartridges are SOOOOOOOOO expensive they are not worth buying as nearly as much as a new printer. Go for inkjet is my advise.

I brought a cooked chicken back with me today so we are having that with mash and peas. They put them out in MoRRisons now ready bagged and hot at the lower price than the ones in the cabinet because they have put VAT on those and it takes them over a fiver.

Frank I did laugh at LIAR LIAR..............

David

David Report 12 Nov 2012 18:34

When I had a Lexmark printer, copier, scanner etc it was expensive to replace the ink cartridges.

The guy in the shop said to me the most economical one is Epsom.
It starts off the same or similar price as the others BUT apparantly the ink cartridges a nearlt half the price.

I bought a used HP one off Ebay for next to nothing.

Frank the other Doggy is TOBY :-D(Mandy's dog).
I always rub my Jacket potatoes in Olive oil and salt before baking.Yummy!

Ann was the exam in Leicester that OH sat in on?I think I heard some time ago the Leicester was the top city in he country with more 'non white'.......I hope that hasn't been the wrong thing to say.I find it very difficult knowing the right way to say things without sounding racist(that is the last thing I am).

Just had a quote to get the latest leaky problem sorted......£350.............Chris will have a Dickie Fit :-S....actually it is £348..Whooppee doo :-S.
I think I might go and pour him a little drinkie poo for when he gets in ....to try and soften the blow :-D :-D......it won't work lol

Yes the school is in the city, Jane. I have read those statistics too.

Frank I had a very odd phone call this morning. The first time it rang there was no-one answering on the other end and they put the phone down. A couple of minutes later it rang again and this time it was a man talking very fast with what sounded like a West Indian accent and I could hardly pick out what he was saying. I didn't say anything at all, but I did manage to make out the last thing he said which was 'I'm coming round to split your head open'. Then he put the phone down. I'm sure he must have dialled a wrong number, but it did worry me a bit. I have noted down the phone number and time of the call in case I read anything in the paper the next few days.

William Report 12 Nov 2012 19:16

OK folks, by special request the hat stays on till Christmas, ho, ho, ho ho...

The last two printers I've had have been HP and I've been very pleased with them. Mostly it's the cost of cartridges or toner as in Laser printers but that's a factor you need to keep in mind when shopping for a new machine. Laser toner cartridges are as a rule more expensive, but maybe you'd get a better print run. I'm not familiar with coloured lasers, only the old B & W ones, but it's a factor.

Yes Jane, sand is the basic ingredient of glass, well done. When you think of all the places that were built using asbestos it makes you shudder. Now it all has to be removed and the workers have to use masks and what-not for protection. Just think, people LIVED with it for years!

An elderly friend of ours ('ark at me!!!) has an Aga range for her heating and still cooks on it. Sometimes when I go round there she leaves the Aga door open where the fuel is burnning and the fumes nearly kill me, I can taste it and it nearly chokes me. She can sit like that for ages for a 'warm-up' and she's in her late eighties! Health and safety??? I think she'll live for ever.
