Hi Ann looks like we posted at the same time. I'm trying not to think too much about the holiday then hopefully it will be here before I know it. I have 5 grandchildren now new baby will make 6 and I'm sure after son's wedding next year we will be hearing the patter of tiny feet and a brother or sister for Finley and daughter who got married recently will be thinking of starting a family soon so plenty more to come I think. At the moment they range from nearly 21 to almost new born.

Your Afghan jokes made me chuckle David.

Well the news on the damp is is it going ok but some bits still need more drying. They have moved the dehumidifiers and fans around to reposition things and we now have the blooming noisiest ones back in the kitchen and lounge :-S :-S :-S.
They will be back again on the 3rd Oct to check again. They did say there is a higher reading in the area of the dishwasher. It is the same as the last reading there.(so we may have a little problem going on there.)I asked if we should get it checked out now and was told not to do anything at the moment. It seems the wettest place still is part of the floor in the kitchen and the wall backing on to the dining room from the kitchen.
I asked when the machines were put in ,and it was the 14th August.
It was a different chap today. When he walked in he said"Oh you are in a mess aren't you"!! I said Just tell me about it lol.
Heavy rain seems to have eased off now :-D

Well the wind has really got up now and it's just teamed down with rain !! just as the little ones come out from school too :-S

Oh Jane not more weeks to wait !! at least some of it is now drying , but this damp weather won't help will it ?

I think it will be cold Chicken and oven chips for us tonight .

Did'nt go shopping.

Did a load of ironing instead and have now got hot so turned the pc on.

Ann oh makes me jump sometimes when I think he is in the garden and he pops up behind me and says "Coffee".

I never get on so well when he is about the house so do most of the housework whilst he is mowing and I know where he is.

Had to drive to Warwick first thing this morning (well, 9.15am). It wasn't too bad until I got on the A46 at Coventry then it came down by the bucket load. I stayed in the inside lane at 60mph which I thought was safest in the conditions. There were still vehicles going like crazy with no lights on and then disappearing into the mist, spray and spume ahead. I came back round the back lanes which took a bit longer but was quieter though it was a case of looking out for flood water. As I type this at 4.15pm the sun is shining!!!

Pity Downton didn't get more awards, but we love it don't we? I have always thought Maggie Smith was a superb actress, always remember her in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.

I missed the WDYTYA of Annie Lennox, pity as I think she is a great performer. That's the week our TV was away I think. William Roach and Alton Towers eh. When we went there in our early days, the fun fair was round the back of the ruined house and the park was a pleasure to walk in. The pagoda, fountains, gardens etc etc were a delight- I'm an old spoil sport but I prefered it then.

I'd go out the garden and tidy up after the monsoons but my green wheelie bin is full to the top! Good excuse eh?

Jane Report 24 Sep 2012 16:42

Mandy I don't think damp or wet weather will make any difference.Only trouble is when it is went and windy I have to shut the back door which means the heat from the machine in the kitchen will make me even hotter :-S.Chester is all stressed as he just got used to the fan etc in the kitchen being in certain places and now they are different :-S Not a happy doggy.

Mel I have just done some of the Minty Mushrooms.Just a small amount.I think they are going to be very tasty.(I might have over done the garlic a bit though).I will get James to sample them when he gets home.

I've got no Grandchildren yet Maureen :-( I can't see that happening for a long time yet either.21 years to 0 that is some age range :-D

William Report 24 Sep 2012 16:49

Before you all bombard me, I've found that Annie Lennox on WDYTYA is still on BBC Iplayer so I'll be watching it later on this evening.

I've been out and about this afternoon trying to sort out a new dishwasher! I'm after a slimline, but, oh dear, you can't take anything like that home with you these days! It has to be ordered which OH gets a bit irritated by!! Tomorrow I'm going to ring Tesco's in Swindon and see what they've got in stock and see what their selling policy is!! At least we're alright if we need a Dyson as the factory is just up the road!!! How long do you think you'll be without your car Jane? You must miss it! Nice and sunny here now though very windy - our chalet is very warm, no heat needed yet which is a good omen for the winter - we're as snug as you know whats!!!

Jane

Jane Report 24 Sep 2012 17:13

Liz I will be without my car as long as James is without one .To be honest I'm doing ok without it.It's when I suddenly think I need something and then go to get my keys I realise I'm stuck lol : As long as Chris is not working on Thursday and I can have his car to get to the hairdressers(that is soooo important :-D :-D)........You have had SUN???.Lucky you.No such luck here today although it is clearing up here at the moment.

William I think you will enjoy Annie Lennox's WDYTYA.

The noise here now the machines have been moved is awful.I was in the kitchen just now for a couple of minutes and came back into the lounge to see I had missed a call on the phone from the garage.I just can't hear it ringing. :-S :-S

Frank Report 24 Sep 2012 17:38

Hi all,

The wind has really got up here, the cherry tree is shedding it's leaves like mad. It's as black as your hat overhead. So I think more rain to come.

Nice little joke David, let me have your eMail address and I will send you, what I get. (IF YOU WANT THEM)

Maureen that is the same age range as in my family. My eldest brother was 21 when I was born therte was eight children in between.

Jane that a bummer about the damp, and poor old Chester won't know if he's coming or going !!!

Ros is fine today, I think she's well padded, and she wouldn't let me see if she's bruised, You women. !! Between us we managed to stick all the repairable bits back together. I got Super G all over me fingures, right job trying to get it off. So Ros finished off, her hands seems to be better than mine, for these jobs.

I am doing Roast beef in onion gravy for Ros tonight, with various veg. I doing cold meat and chips and pickle for me.

Jane

Jane Report 24 Sep 2012 18:03

Frank. Please keep your black as a hat stuff with you.Just looking out the window now I think you could be blowing it this way :-S.
That's good you managed to get some of the broken things stuck back together. That super glue ....I remember hearing awful stories about that when it first came out (years ago)when people didn't realise how strong it was,and all sorts of body parts were stuck with it .

Yes I'm right ...the big black clouds are heading this way.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 24 Sep 2012 18:49

Still raining here :-S
Any one heard thunder ? hubby thought he heard some this afternoon .

That Super Glue is funny old stuff, i remember hubby some how squirted some onto his T shirt and it stuck the shirt onto the hairs on his chest :-S :-S :-D :-D
We had to slowly pull the shirt away and the hairs came with it :-S :-S

Nail polish remover should help to get it off Frank.

Jane

Jane Report 24 Sep 2012 19:28

No Thunder here Mandy.......but I don't think we would hear it ,what with everything going here lol.....The only good thing if we do get thunder is that Chester won't hear it :-D :-D

Spag Bol on the go now(Chris will be a bit miffed as there is no Garlic Bread )....I was pretty sure I bought some too :-S

Mel those Minted Mushrooms have gone down a treat with Chris and Me.They should have been a side dish with dinner ,but have all gone now :-D.I think that says they were a success :-D :-D :-D

It's been dry here since late afternoon so I shot out and picked what runner beans there were. A beautiful sunset with red sky, but somehow I don't think it will be nice tomorrow. OH has gone into the wilds of Melton Mowbray to do some clerking and won't be back till late.

Liz, I bet it is cosy in your new home and do you get that lovely pine smell at all? I missed that smell when I left Staffordshire as a little girl. You only had to step outside and you could smell the pine forest. I may have asked you this before.....it's an 'age' thing.

Jane hopefully after the next visit it will be dry enough for them to start working. I bet Chester thinks it is musical chairs with the fans. I don't know how you are managing without your car either.:-S James is lucky!

I can just imagine your superglued OH Mandy! lol. Still at least he wasn't in his PJs and dropped it in his lap! :-0

Maureen I can't believe you have been a granny for that long.......you look too young!

Where is our Shirl lately? I hope her son is getting better.

Frank

Frank Report 24 Sep 2012 22:18

Ann, Are you sure it' not an age thing. !! we all hear noises at your age :-D :-D :-D

No more rain here, but plenty of wind. OUTSIDE !!!

Mel/Jane lets have the minted mushroom thingy please.

Just watched the last of "leaving" Load of rubbish. After the 1st one I thought it might be good. Mrs Biggs, on Wednesday. I have enjoyed that so far.

Superglue can be harmfull. Ros's dad tried to repair his glass's once and got his thump and finger stuck to the arm. Had to get a RAZOR blade to slice the skin off After that we wouldn't let him near it. <3 <3 <3
Night Night All

Morning all,

It has been a while since I have been on. Son had a lovely birthday dinner at the club. It faces out over a lake and you could see all the water birds going for their nightly stroll. I had an eye fillet (tender) on the stone grill. You cut off pieces and cook it yourself, with Diane sauce and chips and salad. I did have a couple of drinks for the occasion, but no real harm done I think.

We had a lovely Jaffa gluten free cake, very rich but so nice to finish off the night.

Then I had to back up with a visit to my doctor the next day. He said I would be doing much better if I could just sleep. Unfortunately that part of my brain is switched on, so forever in the "awake mode". Makes life hard sometimes and limits what I can do. I have been so tired since these trips and the reason I have not been posting. I will try to catch up with all your news as I go along.

OH took the car down to the city today for a service and took Miranda to look for formal dresses. I've just got the call that they found one in teal blue which has to be altered and a little more expensive than we had planned. I will have to post a picture of it when she eventually gets it. One thing out of the way, now all she has to do is pass her final exams in October.

Our weather has been quite nice, although a little cooler today.

Mandy thank you for the photo, the girls are real cuties.

One of Joel's friends is coming for tea tonight. I have no idea what we will be having as the others are in Sydney. Out of my hands I'm afraid. ;D

I hope everyone is well and enjoying life. Have a good day. I might try to catch up later if I can. Cheers for now. 4.15 pm AEST

Morning all, and hi Kim.

Much better morning here so far. Very windy, but plenty of sunshine first thing, clouding over at the moment.

Glad you had a good evening out for your Son's birthday Kim. Do hope you start to sleep better. There is nothing worse then laying awake half the night.

I felt I sleept well last night, six hours, but just feel I could do with a bit more and it's not mid-day yet.

Had a nice plate of HAM off the bone and two fresh eggs for breakfast. Two slices of B & B and cup od tea (THREE))

Ros is taking the kneeler back this morning Thank goodness. !!! She will be doing more patchwork this afternoon., at one of the girls houses.

Have a big dish of spag bols sauce, I froze it last week, so will have that tonight. Make a change from F & C.

My bird feeding station has been blown over with all this wind. Seed everywhere. Will have to put it deeper in the ground.

Hope you all have a good day.

Morning All and Evening Kim,So nice to see you posting again and it sounds like you really enjoyed your night out and a little tipple too.

Dress sounds alovely colour and I can't wait for the photo.......

Sun and showers here today and I have to go shopping as we have run out of beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and that won't do.

Lliz so pleased your challet is nice and cosy. Give my regards and love to Ian and Millie and of course Merlin...........

I once got two fingers stuck together using super g. had to prise them apart on my own as nobody else was in. I am always very carefull when I use it now and get all prepared with a piece of card or paper to put the tube on. One of my lovely flower fairies plates feel off the wall in the hall a few weeks ago and it must have hit the skirting board as it is all chipped on one edge. I found most of the peices but it is still awaiting glueing. Same kind of plates fell down in the caravan too but they fell on to the padded seats underneath them. I took all those down just incase it happened to any more as the caravan gets very hot sometimes. They are collecters plates and have a little round bit stuck on the back with a hanging wire on them. I shall now have to get some wire hangers for the plates before they all go up again.

Yes Ann our Chalet does smell quite strongly of pine, but not as much as when we first moved in; it is really lovely and just the ticket for two oldies!! The 'animal family' are thriving Mel, Millie in particular seems to love it here, I think it could be that we are so much more content, animals always know what your mood is! Today is windy and bright so I've washed our summer duvet and it is blowing away on the line. Ian is up the road collecting logs. This afternoon I'm off out again on my dishwasher hunt!!
