Morning all, and welcome AnnCardiff,
You fall into my age group, and I have many memories of the war years, and how we coped with the shortages. I have relayed some on here, but I can see I will have to dig into my memory box !!!.
We had a nice Indian last night. Our table was right in the window beside the canal path. A few people out walking with their dogs, but no canal boats on the move. They were proberly moored up for the night.
Ros has been to the Doctors this morning and he found she has MORPHEA a disscolouration of the skin on her left brest. He is going to take a peice off and send it away to ckeck everything is allright. He did say it was usualy found on children and teenagers. Of course I had to make a comment :-D :-D :-D We don't think there is anything to worry about.
Mandy hope youy BIL gets on his feet soon, and able to get back to a normal life.
My "OLD FRIEND" has been around this morning, getting under my feet, while I was preparing dinner for tonight. He often pops up in the lounge in the evening, while i'm watching Tele. So I keep thinking, he hasen't realy left me !!!
Reasonable sort of morning here, high clouds, with a breeze.
William, That was great service. But the Japenese producers seem to have a better customer relations, than our own companies.!!!
See you later.

I am back. Leccy all turned on just before lunchtime.
I kept thinking I will do some ironing. Dah.
I will weigh my toms and listen to my story on disc. Dah!
I weighed the toms though and walked up to the library as I could'nt drive the car up with all the toms cues and eggs in as the tree fellas had all their vehicles parked along our road.
Had to go up the caravan and boil some water on the gas stove to make oh a coffee. Thanks goodness for that otherwise his tongue would have been hanging out.
My paternal grandfather would tell us stories of the war but I am shocked to say I can't remember one of them now. Mind you that was over 25 years ago. I do remember that his troup had a little dog called Blighty, a terrier in more ways than one.

Evening All,
I'd never heard of that Frank. I bet Ros felt better knowing the doc didn't think it was harmful. She is obviously growing 'younger' if it affects younger people! :-D
OMG that dog was off again from 7.15am this morning. An hour of yap, yap, howl, yap, but then she came back home and took him with her thank goodness. I thought we were in for a whole day of it!!
Mel, I used to find it very handy having a caravan years ago! Always another cooker etc if needed!! I've been in a 'dah' mood today too, just can't fancy doing any jobs at all and lots need doing! :-S OH has gone to do some clerking for a few hours so it is ideal for me to get on with things!! Well, I have done my road tax on line!! :-) I refuse to go to the PO in the next village and pay carparking now! They have doubled it since it started a year ago as well. I think the shops there must have lost a lot of trade because of it. I would stop and pick newspapers up there and nip in Wai*rose and the library, but you think where else you can go instead now. I keep meaning to ask if you have noticed a difference since you had your roof panels..............smaller bills......or don't you know yet?

First time here for me today. My eyes were sore today.I think I spent too long searching through the records yesterday :-S so decided to stay off the pooter until now. I have enjoyed reading your stories Ann.Sadly I have no such tales like that to tell :-( But I do remember Mum telling me of the jobs she and her sister Betty had to do before going off to school each day.It was Mums job to black lead the grate(I think).Betty had to clear out the fire and re lay it .There were other chores but I can'tthink what they were.Douglas I think got away scot free lol, which didn't go down well with Mum and Betty lol
I'm sure your comment about Ros and her boo* were polite Frank lol.I'm sure all will be fine. Mel it is horrible having the Leccy off for so long.Is it all done now with the trees or do they have to come back again?
How is BIL today Mandy? Sore I expect :-S.
The nights seem to be drawing in now and the mornings are dark.I think it is the end of summer now :-S.The lights will soon go on and the curtains drawn.I actually quite like that, especially on a really cold and windy night.
Poor old Hannah has had her bank card defrauded today :-S :-S B****** !! This is the last thing she needs to happen right now :-S No doubt John will see her right until she gets her new card She is coming home on Saturday for a big night out with her old girlfriends.
Spanish Chicken and Rice tonight .Sauce out of a Jar :-D.I feel a bit peckish now.

Ann ,have you still not said anything to your neighbour about her dog??Does she leave it out in all weathers(just thinking of winter coming up ) :-S. I think I have mentioned the 2 Cockerels next door to us.Well this morning I just heard 1.So I'm guessing the other one has crowed for the last time.
Have you all seen the cat called Dennis that steals neighbours belongings and takes them home and through his catflap??? We had a cat a few doors up that did exactly the same thing. He would pinch pants and socks and other items of clothing .The owner of the cat ended up with a huge bag of various items. She trawled the bag from door to door to see what belonged to who lol.She was so embarrassed having to ask people if any of the underwear belonged to us /them.What a strange thing though for a cat to do.

How awful for Hannah Jane.......I think that is something we all dread. How is she liking the new Job? James too, is he enjoying working days instead of nights? You must be a lot 'drier' now in your kitchen, but I bet those fans are making a lot of dust.
A lady wrote a bit in our paper today saying that she had been to see the King Richard 111 dig and that there were some trenches in the playground at the old grammar school I went to!! I think I will have to go and have a look. I doubt his bones were found there, but to think I might have been skipping about so near to his grave!! :-S Just had a look and there is a pic of the 'digging' on here and that is my old school just the other side of the wall......how amazing!!
http://www.itv.com/news/central/2012-09-19/king-richard-iii-dig-attracts-an-audience/
Edit: This is the actual place where he was, just over the playground wall......interesting article......lucky to have survived previous building work!

Mandy don't go taking too many pain killers will you . Hope it eases later on and you feel better.
We had roast lamb tonight with roast teddies, runner beans and puds. Lovely. was just fancying a roast.
Oh has just had a third of a cheesecake!!
Did you all see that on the news yesterday about taking pain killers 15 times or more a month where they said they would give you a headache in the end and have no affect?
Trees all done now. We have to have them done every five years as they grow under the power lines. The leccy company come and do it so it dos'nt cost us anything.
Poor Hannah, Jane. How did she find out. Did her bank ring her like they did when mum had trouble with hers??

Got down ,tied lace got a hold of the shopping trolley.Became aware of a Te@co employee trying to pick me off the floor. Get off sez I, I'm tying my shoe lace. Still he held on and said do you want first aid.?
I must be looking as well as feeling my age?
Maybe I should have it delivered?

HELLO it is nice to be back on here after my holiday.
I had a really lovely holiday up in Donagal .Both sea crossings were calm and enjoyable.
I went to Dublin for the night. Then on the way home had a hours touring the city it was packed out with people so glad of the tour. Visited the Guinness warehouse and went up to the Gravity bar it had a wonderful view of Dublin and one got a free glass of Guinness..it seemed creamy and tasted nicer than Guinness I have tasted in England. I took some nice photoes which I will send when I can figure out how to put them on here from my camera.
Kim Michelle said many thanks for the birthday wish. Poor Mel you have to hang on to that card a long time.
JANE how was your hols have not had chance to look at any threads. Arrived home to a very difficult Beryl who had decided to take up fishing while I was away and fell in the lake at Earlswood. She was winding in what she thought was a fish and it was a boot with laces she got a bit too excited and fell flat on her face in the water later on she got some kind of sore on her lip .
I went over to her house and she sat with a large hanky tied round her mouth I tried not to laugh but Beryl went into detail how she was in so deep at the edge of the lake she had to do some swimming strokes and was demonstrating lying on the carpet to do the breast stroke. Tiny her new kitten jumped off the chair onto her head and got his paws tangled in her hair. Donnie wondered in the room in his under pants scratching away and said ,,Bell old girl what you doing on the floor Beryl got up and pelted Donnie out of the room with a newspaper. I gave up talking about my holiday and listening about the flipping fish episode. i went home and giggled about her in the hanky she did look daft.
Donagal was not very big but did have some entertainment in the bar but never want to listen to the song Wild Rover again the song with the clapping the hotel had three bars and it was played over and over again.
We saw Daniel O Donnals house .The poor driver spent half an hour searching for the car park he asked a real irish guy where is the carpark of Daniel O Donnel he said well it was up the road to the left but its now been moved to the right and when you go right you have to turn left go up to the top of the road and turn right and it should be at the bottom of the hill a sharp left. The driver just said Oh ok I will go and see if I can find it. We all laughed when he got on to move the coach arrived at the car park ages after and nobody wanted to go and see the place he was born at it was 5 euros and he was not in Ireland had gone to America. The driver was not amused.
We saw some beautiful gardens lakes and things but the six days flew by and the food was ok but so much mash potatoe something to do with the potatoe famine of many years ago. WAS MASH MASH MASH and MASH WITH A HUGE ROAST POTATOE IN IT. But the rest was ok.
But it was lovely and a nice memory .
Nite Nite catch you tomorrow Hi Kim how are you trust your all well from SHEILA.

What will Beryl get up to next?? Does Donnie go fishing? Is that why Beryl went and who pulled her out of the water?

She hasn't left him out in the winter before Jane but he was not much more than a puppy last winter. I dread saying anything to her.....just keep hoping she will realise I suppose! OH said she was walking up the close with the dog when he got back from clerking and as soon as he drove by the dog was lunging at the car and she ended up picking him up. It sounds like one of your cockerels has ended up in the 'pot'. lol
Dennis looked pleased with himself didn't he........bringing home his loot!! lol. If it was tatty underwear you wouldn't want to say it was yours would you? :-D
There have been previous reports about the same thing Mel, rebound headaches I think they were called.
Hope you feel better tomorrow Mandy. :-D

Ann the Dust word here is banned. It is thick :-S :-S The more the floors dry out the more dust there is.I give up really.I just do the surfaces that I can see,but then within an hour or two there is more .I sneeze all day lol and Chester does too. Hannah's job hasn't kicked off properly yet as they have to recruit addicts suitable to go on the research programme, but she is still kept busy. James says his job is far better than working nights .He went to Hinkley today with his Boss to meet someone to discuss something(I know not what).
Mandy I hope your headache goes ,and you will wake headache free in the morning.
I think I will say Night Night now .The Sandman is on his way.See you all in the morning x

Morning from a dull and dreary Devon and Evening Kim.
I was freezing when I got in bed last night and oh had all the quilt!! So I laid and shivered and he turned over, put his arm round me and cuddled me to him.............Bliss he was so warm. It is not often I get a good cuddle but I did last night.
Meant to put the washing machine on again last night before I went to bed and forgot!! so the first thing that hit me when I awaoke was . Blast ...........now the machine is purring away in the background. I thought if it was dry this morning I could get it out early and maybe it would b e dryish.
Mandy hope the headache has gone this morning.

Morning Mel and All .Evening Kim
Not so nice here either Mel .It is just grey cloud but not breezy so quite mild. I need to get on and sort some things out upstairs as Fitz is coming up about Mid-day.Chris needs him to sign something and no doubt he will stay for a bite of lunch.
I think the Runner Beans have run out of steam. There seemed to be be plenty of small ones but they aren't growing any longer ,so I just picked them all and will cook them just as they are.I'll just nip the ends off.
So a Coffee now and then get movin' and groovin' :-D

Goodness me.Where is everyone today??
Fitz has been and gone and is now on his way to visit his Mother. He finds it very difficult going everyday so misses a day out here and there.
Just had a call from Renaul* garage to say they have had to order something for my car which won't be here until Monday. So I have been on the phone to get the cover note extended until Tuesday.I'm waiting now to make sure it has been faxed through to the garage.
It is a miserable afternoon.Drizzle and light rain.I have given the main bathroom a good scrub......it certainly needed it :-S.Chris and I never use it ......just James.I think that explains it lol
Chris is working tomorrow morning as it is the first Flu Jab Clinic of the year begins. So that means he will not be walking Chester :-S.I was looking forward to a morning off walkies.

Hi all,
Jane you can keep the drizzle over there, it's been a good day here. Ros has a line of colours on the line, and I have put some bulbs in the garden. Still plenty more to go in when I feel like it. !! I see one down and one to go on the Cockerils front. You should get hold of it a ring it's neck, will make a good roast.
As I said yesterday (here we go again)
Ann, YOU MUST contact the local council about that dog. You will not be mentioned or involved. They will write to them, and tell them to keep their dog under control, and send you a action log. to keep records of date and times he barks and for how long. I have had to do it on three occasions. Once when the dog was left in the garden all day. and twice where people locked the dog in the garage all day. The barking drove me MAD. But once the council got involved it eased up and then STOPPED. We now have one over the back thats let out into the garden and left to bark for an hour at a time. THEY WILL BE NEXT. If these people can't look after the animal they shouldn't have them. SO THERE !!!
Poor old Hannah, I'm sure it's all she needs. I bet the Bas##### that done this are Eastern Europeans. They seem to be the main offenders, from what you read and see on the police programmes.
Glad you had a good holiday Shelia, The next thing you know, that pair will take up Scuba diving. lol lol. They seem to get into most things. How they don't drive you insane, I will never know. :-D :-D :-D
Mandy, Hows those headaches ??? Harvey has terrible heads and takes so many tablets. He went to the doctor, and was told exactly what has been published in the papers and on TV and that was a feww weeks ago. Hope he has learnt his lesson.
We had a nice meal out on Wednesday. The table was right in the window by the canal, no boats about, I suppose they were moored up for the night.
Conrad and Jan. are picking us up tomorrow about 6 pm to meet up with Harvey and family. Joint gettogether for Ros's and Lewis's birthday (his is the 25th.) We have got him a birthday cake to take to the Chinese. He can cut it and we can all have a bit, and sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY. He will cringe and hid ubder the table.
I hope your neighbours cat never pinched your undies Jane, I could just imagine everyone sorting through the box of cloths saying "THATS MINE" and others not daring to admitting that was theirs !!!
I'm off for a cuppa, see you later.
