Those boots were more comfortable but never felt dry and wouldn't bull up. I think I gave them to charity.

Afternoon Mel, Jane and everyone else,
Sort of sunny, cloudy and quite cold today.
Jane so glad it has arrived and very quickly too. I was worried it wouldn't be there on time. By the sounds of your weather you won't be putting the shorts on now. :-(
Not much happening here. Hope Fiona is ok, haven't seen a post from her in a few days.
Mel you are clever and I'm not surprised your fingers are hurting. You must be pretty tired too after your late night. What a nice thought and your OH will be chuffed I'm sure.
Mine is huffy with me as I beat him at Scr***le again. Ah well you just got to take these things on the chin, lol.
Mandy good to hear your BIL is recovering well from his surgery. Hope the physio goes smoothly when they get him on his feet.
Off to the couch and some tv - not much on these days. 10.57 pm AEST

Kim ,definitely not shorts day today.I compromised and have got my loose Linen trousers on lol.I'm just trying to pretend it is summer lol.I think this must be the worst summer we have had in donkeys years. Well done beating OH in Scabbl*.I haven't played that in a long time.I know we have a box somewhere.Must dig it out I think.I used to love playing that.
It seems to be hedge cutting day again around here.Chris has been doing the Laylandi (SP????) .The lady next door is doing hers and two doors up are doing theirs. The only ones who never bother are our neighbours on the other side of us :-S :-S :-S.The front of their place looks a bloo** mess.Which makes our side of the front garden look bad too.Oh Dear I am a moaning minnie :-S Kim just out of interest how long did it take your card to get here?It arrived on Friday.

Very windy here today ...... I'm talking about the weather ...... :-D Have mostly finished sorting all the rubbish out from the loft. everywhere needs a good tidy up now.
Just before my new neighbours moved in a year ago, they almost gutted the whole of the back garden, digging out some really nice shrubs and plants so I thought they would be doing something spectacular with it, wrong, they've done nothing since and the nettles I can see from over my fence so they must be about 6ft high, the grass hasn't been cut since last year either but they are really nice people, very quiet.
I'm not that keen on scrabble, I get fed up waiting for others to have their turn and I have a word all sorted for when it's my turn and someone else goes and puts a word there. My Son-i-l is almost impossible to beat, he obvously played it a lot as a youngster, he always manages to get rid of X's and Z's on a triple letter or word. Really annoying. I prefer monopoly, where I can go round the board and buy everything I land on :-D
Frank must be at Wembley by now, hope they are having a great day and Lewis's Opposite Day is finally over.

Afternoon everyone,
We've had a little sun here at times and then it clouds over as if its going to really come down, but so far we've only had a few spits !!
Mel, you did well getting the cushions all stitched ,i bet your fingers are sore having to stitch through that waterproof material, hard going i should think.
Hubby put some wooden slats on our swing , it's made it so much better , it use to sag when the cushions went on ,now we need a new canopy ,i did read where some one had used a single quilt cover as the canopy on the swing ,they just threaded it on over the poles .
Been in the front garden doing some weeding ,it had got really bad ,went to pick up what i thought was a stone and it was a TOAD!!! went and called hubby to come and move it and by the time he came we couldn't find it !! so that was me done ,i couldn't do any more knowing it was about. And i know they can always be there ,but once i see one that's it !! :-S
Steak pie and veg for us tonight , nice and easy .
I wonder where our William has got too?? its been quite a while since we've heard from him , i miss his little tales :-)

Afternoon All,
Weather no better here.......dark and threatening sky and breezy.
We went to see Andre Rieu at the cinema in the city last night. The Maastricht 25th Anniversary show was superb. Some of the men young and old were moved to tears by the women singing . I was hoping they would show some shots of Andre's castle he lives in but they didn't. They caught him coming off stage at the end to do a short interview, such a friendly, warm hearted man.....brilliant! OH is hankering to see him again in Birmingham now!! The cinema organisation was the pits though! They split the waiting queue with a gap between.......trouble was new people arriving were joining the first queue, so jumping the second queue.......thought there was going to be a punch up at one point!! They never put the lights up either so we were all fumbling our way to the seats in the dark!! lol. The seats were ones that rock to and fro, but loads of room between the rows.
It's good that Fitz's mum has come through the operation ok Jane, good for him to have a break while he has the chance too. It all must be a bit worrying for him. Fitz and one of those itty bitty flags.....I don't think so!!lol. The torch is this way tomorrow and Tuesday, so we thought we might find somewhere out of the city and not too crowded on the route to watch. OH has an interview in the city tomorrow, so is hoping he will be able to get near where he is going and be able to park with all the 'torch' crowds. I may have to drop him off somewhere near. Your poor sis though with all these problems. As if it isn't enough coping with her knee.
Mel, well done you for managing to keep the surprise secret! My OH is far too nosey to surprise with anything! He would have been up in the night looking for me. lol bet it will look great with the new cushions. I still have the material to make some for our arbour......its still in the bag though. :-S
I got an envelope from Australia too......mine came Saturday and is waiting unopened on the shelf for 'the day'!! :-D Thank you, Kim.....it must be from you I think.
Mandy, I hate it when you touch a toad or frog that you didn't know was there.....sends shivers up my spine thinking about it! I hope your ants have got the message to stay outside now. I unearthed a nest moving one of the rocks yesterday and before I knew it the blighters were inside my crocks and my leather gloves biting me! Worse though when they are in your kitchen. Good that your BIL seems to be doing well after the operation.

Was Chris happy with you winning Jane, a lot of men don't like to be beaten, especially not by a woman ..... :-D
I've given up with trying to sit out in the garden, did manage to have a 'small' glass of wine while the sun was shining but it keeps blowing over cloudy.
Think I would have screamed Mandy to pick up a toad by mistake, how can you tell the difference between them and frogs, are toads a lot bigger and scalier (sp). I used to get a few frogs jumping around in the flower beds when I had a pond, haven't seen any since though.
Might watch a bit of the football later, will be rooting for Spain, probably watch one of the films that's on and turn over in the adverts.

What a funny day weather wise. The sun is out now but we have had some rain.
Was tired out when the grandchildren went home yesterday..It was nice to see them though..Went to the park with Mocha ..on the way the little one said your shadow is bigger than mine..On the way back at that same spot she said the shadow is gone...Had to explain that the big rain cloud was covering the sun.. Just typing this and I have caught the big plecca out of the corner of my eye right on the side of the fish tank

Glad you had a lovely time Frank, and that your knee didn't spoil anything.
Good luck with the Dental Hospital tomorrow David. It's good to get things checked out even if it hopefully turns out to be nothing.
Good luck at the dentist tomorrow Pat, I think I have an appointment this month. :-( We seem to get a new dentist every 2 years. I think they practise on us then go and set up privately. lol It's good to be one step ahead isn't it....starts the next day off well. :-D
Jane I have never played Boules........I remember everyone seemed to be playing it when I was in France years ago. You'd walk up a road in the evening and they would be out in their gardens with all those silver balls! Have you unearthed the Croquet set yet? OH has developed a keenness to get a swingball set. lol I wouldn't mind, but we sold one before moving here. :-S
Off to bed now.....another busy day tomorrow in the garden and HW. :-P Night night.......zzzz

The best dentist I had years ago was named James Carruthers. He got arthritis in his hands.Had dentists since, none of them as good.
A few years ago I was in a lot of pain with a broken tooth. It was a Saturday and the only dentist that would see me was at the Dental Hospital.I was seen by a student / trainee who dropped the instrument he was using on the tiled floor.I heard the clatter. He picked it up and put it straight back into my mouth!! I'm sure the floor was "clean" but some one could have walked dog doos in on their shoes :-0 :-| :-S

Morning/ Evening All,
Kim thanks for the pics of the snake. It was a whopper was'nt it? just by the bottlebrush tree.
Raining here and miserable today so may go shopping again.
Yesterday oh and I had our breakfast after he arrived home from ringing and then said I had 30 seconds to get ready to go to Homeleigh garden centre. Left the washing up and off we went. He bought more plants for the pond and 12 bunches of oxygenating weed. All potted up now and placed in the pond. Thats why I did'nt get back on here yesterday. We also moved the swing seat up on the new decking. He was pleased I had relined the cushions for the swing but I had to ask if he had seen them. He is like that!!!!! Sees but won't say anything..................
Well I always think June is the best month of the summer with all the trees with their new leaves and the flowers out in bloom and the hedgerows with flowers and wild roses and honeysuckle but this year we hav'nt been able to enjoy it at all with all this rain and dull weather. What a summer and I don't think we have ever had one as bad as this. :-| :-| :-|

A horrible morning here .Light rain ,just in time for the Olympic Torch :-S.I decided not to go to spectate. But there are loads of Coaches arriving at Wicksteed Pk so I reckon it will be heaving.People were spreading bunting all along their hedges. Now all the roads are shut so I got home just in time. Will watch it later on the TV.
Looking forward to hearing about your Day Frank :-D
It is Fitz Birthday today. He will now get his pension lol.I am hoping he will have a nice day and maybe go out for a meal with his OH.He doesn't have to worry about his Mum.I think he is popping in later for his card.
Right I think it is time for a coffee. BBL
Mel I often have to ask Chris if he has noticed something different lol.Mind you I am just as bad :-S

Morning Mel and everyone,
Mel was probably a tiddler in comparison with some of them, but big enough. You should have seen my son's eyes, lol nearly popped out of his head. He saw it first and went very white.
Maureen I only like Scra**ble when I win, not otherwise though. ;-)
Jane Oh posted the cards on the Tuesday so yours took 3 days and Ann's 4. Thank you for being good girls and not opening early.
Off to the doctor in Sydney tomorrow, well Gordon to be precise. I have a documented list of the happenings over the last 4 weeks and it doesn't make for good reading. Not sure where I go from here, but looking forward to my lunch and coffee at our little cafe at Turramurra, tucked in among a few shops away from the main highway.
Got to have an early night, so hope your weather is better today. Is Fiona on holiday does anyone know?? Night from me. 8.24 pm AEST
