Evening All,
Shirl replied to my emails twice this week and she said she is having trouble connecting to GR. It keeps telling her to try later.......must be very frustrating.
David, the mobile hairdresser I used to have, till she moved house, used to work at the salon where I go now. The salon charges me more than double what she did as a mobile hairdresser.
I had a lovely time with the girls this morning making our scarves with tassels!! lol I will send a pic when I have finished mine. The teacher handed me an envelope as I went and when I got home I opened it and it was a lovely card with a complimentary note in about what she liked that I had made! I was so chuffed. :-D I imagine she gave the others one too at the last lesson which was while I was away.
Thank you Jane and that was nice of Jess! I like 'awesome' and 'cool'! :-D It sounds like she enjoys photography as well.
Frank, have you checked Ros hasn't slipped a load of her 'hobby' things in the case? It's a good job cases have wheels these days. Its a good idea to leave your plants in their trays and make it easier for them to be watered while you are away. I bet you are really looking forward to a bit of sea air now.
Oh Kim I used to dread there being a fire in some places and clubs and the old theatres were two of them as there is often no quick way to get out. Laughter, coffee and cakes sounds like a great pick me up and I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves.
Yikes Mandy, I hadn't realised your DIL was so close to her due date! Do they have any names in mind and has Jake warmed to the idea of another sister?

I had a bit of a surprise yesterday. I told you recently that 'Nanny Dot' had died and our daughter and her husband (Dot's son) had the job of sorting all her stuff out. We went to visit them yesterday and daughter handed me an envelope and said do you remember that. I looked at it and it was addressed to me, but dated June 1977 and had the cipher E II R on the envelope. It was open of course, and had been, by me, all those years ago. Dot & her husband Jack's anniversary was on June 7th which of course was also the Queens Silver Jubilee. I had written to Buck House to see if I could get HM to somehow honour the joint event. I must have been a jumped up nitiwt to expect anything!!! Anyway, the letter was a very nice polite reply by a lady-in-waiting saying that in essence, the Queen was overwhelmed by such letters and of course couldn't react to all of them. I had forgotten that I'd ever written the letter and was even more amazed that I must have given the letter to Dot & Jack and Dot had kept it safe all those years. As it happens we did go out and celebrate to a Jubilee Dinner & dance in Coventry, and a super night it was too.
Just like my dear old Dad and the black box he left behind with family treasures that have helped me trace my family back over the years, Dot had saved a whole wealth of things in her own tin box. I expect even more things will come to light yet. I guess it's a coincidence that they use 'black boxes' on aircraft and such to record things - when Dad had his very own 'black box'......

What a memory William .Very apt too at he moment :-D I'm sure you weren't being a Nit Wit lol. Mum and Dad didn't have a Black Box....It was the Private Box :-D.Not so private after i found it and had a rifle through when a young teen :-S.Nothing much of interest other than a book on the Birds and Bees .Which I was given at some stage.Funny thing was it had nothing to do with Humans in it. No wonder I found out everything from my friends at school :-D :-D
Must dish up now....I'm blooming starving

Was so busy today as SIL was coming down and I had to get tidy in the house. Her exhaust went on the way down and she had the AA out and he put a band round the pipe. That got her down the A30 but it went again at Hatherleigh so oh went and picked her up and they left the car in a pubs carpark with the permission of the owner of the pub. Oh is going down again tomorrow to get it to a garage to be fixed.
Hav'nt read any posts, sorry.
Hope everyone is alright and wishing those of you who have aches and pains a bit better.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for my birthday wishes and that super cake Mandy. I had such fun opening all my overseas cards. Gave me such pleasure and a beautiful painted card from our artistic Maureen again and a fantastic homemade card from Sheila - everything British. I will take a picture and send to everyone - lots of love and time put into that effort. Thank you so much everyone.
I got some lovely presents - jumpers, cardigans, scarfs, flowers, choccies, a bracelet, some lambswool gloves, licorice. I have been very spoilt. I spent the afternoon with my Somerset friend Sylvia. More coffee and cakes and laughs, does you a power of good.
Frank I'll be buying a one way ticket and sending my monster over to you. If you can sort her out, you'll deserve a medal and knighthood from HRH. The top floor of the club was destroyed, but the pool survived. It started in the sauna room because some idiot poured undiluted eucalyptus oil onto the coals and it all went up. The gym was totally destroyed. The place was packed with over 300 people being a Friday night, only minor injuries and some smoke inhalation, but otherwise everyone safe. Seventeen units fighting the fire.
Jane glad you are over your tummy upset and can get to the hairdressers.
Shirl lets hope no more needles for you. I hope this treatment works for you. You must be one brave lady to face that every few weeks.
Pat have a lovely weekend with the grandchildren; will be so nice to walk along the seashore. Poor Mocha, you will have to give him lots of cuddles when you get home.
Off to have a game of Scrabble with my two lovely boys. Have a good day everyone. xxx 9.01 pm EST

Sounds like you have been spoilt! Hope you won at scrabble too. :-D
When we turned out of Sain*burys this morning there had been a dreadful accident on the main road with several cars involved and one silver car was upside down. Traffic gridlocked all around. I don't know how it could have happened as there was no room to have got any speed up and it is a dual carriageway. We had to do a few miles further to detour to get home.
I'm off to plant the beans now before the rain sets in!! Doesn't look good for the next few days.......such a shame with all the events that are planned.
Shirl I bet it is a relief the injections are over. Your temperatures have shot up quite a bit by the sounds of it.
Mel, you have been busy cleaning and washing! Does your SIL stay in the caravan?

I hope no-one was badly hurt in that accident Ann.I remember one year we were on the motorway on the way to the airport for our jolly hols in Portugal. There was a caravan on its side and it had flipped the car pulling it upside down. One man was lying on the carriage way being tended by other motorists but the awful thing was that I could see an arm dangling down in the upturned car.I had an awful feeling that the person had died as no-one was attending to them :-( .It didn't half shake us all up ,and when we got to the airport hotel it was a big drink for everyone.
Well there are lots of people up ladders putting up Bunting and flags :-D :-D.knows what I will be like watching the boats on the Thames tomorrow. I'm such a soppy old date it makes me feel quite tearful. I feel as though I need a jumper on .But I will be tough and strong..It's flipping June for heavens sake ....I will NOT put one on :-D

I don't think we have heard from Liz for some days???? I wonder if she has moved in now to her new abode. There wasn't a lot left to do last time she posted.
James and Jess are at the Falconry now .Somewhere out Stamford way I think.Poor James could hardly keep his peepers open this morning.I did tell Jess to make sure he doesn't nod off while driving :-S Jess goes home tomorrow.I do love her but it will be nice to get my house back to normal after all these visitors.I have to say she is not the tidiest of people :-S :-S
Frank I always take about half a dozen pairs of shoes/sandals on holiday. It does Chris's head in lol.(I only wear about 2).He takes 2 pairs like you.I do hope the weather picks up for you.Even if it doesn't I'm sure you are going to enjoy yourselves.Pasties ,Cream Teas.......I want to come too :-D Will you visit the Miniature Village at Babbacombe? It's years since I went there .Cockington is a lovely little place to visit.Horse and carriage trips there I seem to remember.
I just looked at the clock and can't believe it is passed 4.30 :-0

Glad you at least managed the train ride Pat. It's been gloomy all day here.
Jane it must be difficult for James to switch from nights to days! I hope Chris hasn't got your bug. Hopefully he will be ok by morning. :-)
David I never seem to fancy curries much these days.....couldn't manage that many!! OH likes some......but not too hot!
Bunting seems to be everywhere and all the local pubs are swathed in it. I think we are going to see the beacon lit on the hill at the quarry on Monday. We could go to the aptly named Beacon Hill, but I think it will be very crowded.
Off to bed too now........now it's cooler I seem to be more hungry and more tired!!
