When I stayed at grans the tin bath came out every afternoon David so grandad and my uncle that was still at home could have a bath when they got home from the pit. I remember being scared of them with their black faces until they had their baths. Of course I was ushered off outside to play while that was going on!! lol :-0 I often think now that although the miners looked filthy after they finished work, at least they had a bath every day which is more than most people did then.
I hope Janice is managing the stairs ok Jane! I bet James will feel tired this week, getting into the 'work' routine.
I have my cases out of the loft now to start packing, looks like 'all weather' clothes will be needed with Bery's hat thrown in!! OH has loads of meetings this week and notes to do before we go so it will be me cleaning the house up and sorting everything. At least he weeded the front garden this morning. I'm not sure the car aircon will last out as it seems to be fading again and now a brake light bulb has decided to blow so that needs fixing before the weekend. I think the garage said a new compressor for the car climate control would be over £800!! You start to wonder whether to change the car as it is a few years old now.
Must nip to the cheap garden centre in the village for some plants for my pots. BBL.

Have been to B & * they have a lot of offers on plants, all I need now is some warm, dry weather to plant them.
I must have missed a thread of two, where are you off to Ann.
Hope James is getting on okay on his first day.
Thanks for that info Pat, will have a look on the 1911 census in a minute.

I was disapointed Manchester United lost out at the last moment in the Premier cup they really thought they had got it. What a nasty blow when Manchester city got that last goal. I was almost biting my finger nails off with excitement short lived .Never mind we have 12 cups to there one.
Today Beryl came wearing a suit that looked like it was made out of her lounge curtains. .I said is that suit the same as your curtains in your lounge. Beryl said my curtains are Paris satin and my suit is made from that material . I said gosh I thought you had cut up your curtains and made a suit. You would not believe Donnie wanted to put some water in the bird bath so he used Beryls rainhat to carry it in. Beryl said Don thats my rainhat. he said oh well you have water on the brain so I thought I would use it .I do not know who is dafter him or her. We were in our garden not theres.
Jessie got back ok Mel Thank you for those concerned about my foot.

Maureen I was at B&* this morning too......they had lots of offers on the plants like you say. I bought a golden thyme plant there and a new broom......hopefully it will sweep clean! lol :-D
We are off to where we stayed last September in Cornwall next Sat. We had it a bit rainy last year, so thought we'd go back in May this year as the weather would probably be better. :-( I've packed my waterproof jacket already. Mandy......a pic of me in a rainhat ....NO CHANCE! lol.
I bet Janice is enjoying a change of scene........is Fitz any better with the nausea now? I can just imagine them comparing scars. It's good James has the first day out of the way now and all the introductions. I was always hopeless at remembering people's names. I'd go out to a company, be introduced to various people and then forget their names!! lol. I used to get round it by saying things like 'your helpful lady over there', or 'this kind gentleman' etc so they never realised. lol.
Speaking of forgetting things OH hasn't had a good day. He tried twice to get money from a cash machine and it said his PIN was wrong......only put the wrong card in hadn't he! Then he realised he had parked but forgotten to get a ticket at the Pay and Display so had to leg it back quick to sort that out. Luckily he got away with it. Then he set off to the Police HQ to do some training tonight......without his ID tags so came haring back!
He mentioned something today I'd never thought of which is that his mum always spoke of 'washing the dishes', yet some people always say 'wash the pots'. ( like my mum did.)

Morning All,
Sun then showers here all morning so I am going to sort the greenhouse out later and plant some things up. I got some of those NZ busy lizzies, the big red ones yesterday for the pots at the top of the garden. Not much point doing a lot of pots till we have the gravel all back in place. They were only 50p each.....cheaper than the geraniums.
I'm not surprised Fitz was keen to see The Artist again Jane, it was so surprisingly good. I'm sure you will enjoy it.....and the KFC after! :-D
I have just cleaned all the kitchen except the floor and have my case open on the bed to pack the essentials first like underwear, toiletries and phone and camera chargers, books.
I am sending you a PM Mel.

I'm here at lat.
Sunday afternoon, I went to the pub and watch Man City win the league, came home rather "HAPPY" cooked dinner, the meat was so tough we just had veg.and Yorkshire pudding.
Yesterday, was eye test at Tesc# at 11.00am. the most thorough eys test I have ever had. They had to put drops in my eyes to make my pupils bigger,After that I could not see, Ros had to stear me back to the car and bring me home. I sat for two hours will my eyes shut as everything was so blured. So much so, that last night I watched T.V. without my glass's and could see perfectly well. Haven't tried reading anything like my book or paper. But managing to see the thread this morning.
Ros, is out with Carolyn today, Garden Centre, cloths shops etc,
HOME ALONE AGAIN.
Spoke to Harvey last night, the weather down there (ONLY 25 miles away) has been terrible. He said they had two HOURS of HAIL and RAIN, and it was like a winters scene. He had to pack up work, (outside) and go home. We had a dry day, but very cold wind.
Glad everyone is well, and hope your leg improves Shelia. Poor old UNITED.!!!!
I was hoping to have the boys and family here for our anniversary, but Harvey and family are off to France to their Caravan on the 1st June, So will only be Ros and I, Jan and Conrad. I think I will book a table somewhere and have lunch out.
Nice pleasant day here, wind still up and chilly with it.

Afternoon everyone,
Sunshine and showers here today , and quite a wind , did manage to get Toby's bedding washed and dried between the showers .
Ann, it sounds as if your OH needs some of those memory tablets LOL I remember coming home from holiday and forgetting my pin number !! i had done the shopping in the supermarket and just could not remember the number , i must have been really chilled out :-D :-D :-D
When we went to the Ran*e on Sunday we had a KFC ,not some thing i would want too often !! we walked back to the car and there was a young couple who had eaten theirs in the car , they had thrown all the boxes out the window beside the car ,and as he drove off a tub of gravy came flying out the window, the birds were having a field day with all the bones from the chicken :-S what a mess every where.
Glad to see you back Frank, wondered where you'd got too!!
Fiona, hope the headaches goes soon , i know you'll miss your family and little Sofia ,but it will do good to have a nice rest and a bit of me time ,take care <3
I found a recipe in a magazine for tonight that looked nice it's Chicken Cacciatore , so we're having that with mash and green beans , just hope we like it :-S
Time for a cuppa and a read of my book. BBL

I do hope this weather warms up for you Ann, hard to believe it is the middle of May, it's so cold and wet.
Was hoping for a good day on Sunday, it's Harry's birthday and they are having a big party for him, we'll all be standing like sardines if we can't spill out into the garden.
The following weekend is daughter's hen do, we are starting it off here in the afternoon with snacks and drinks and 'party' games .......NO STRIPPERS ........ then we are all going to a Spanish restaurant in the evening, better pace myself, it's going to be a long day.
Tomorrow's looking quite reasonable will try and get the plants done.

He sure does lately Mandy.......he bought a sandwich while he was out yesterday and forgot and left it in his car boot overnight! Mind you he took his mum for her weekly trip to the hospital for her treatment today and I think she has his head in a spin. She asked what time we would be leaving on Saturday, what time could we get in, how many stops were we having on the way.......yikes we haven't decided any of that yet and all while he was trying to back out of an awkward parking space!!
I just looked up what is in your recipe you are trying......I think I would love it!! :-D
I think Harvey's hailstorm must be moving up the country Frank as we had some here an hour ago. Now it is raining and thundering....whatever next! Still, it is watering the seeds I planted in the boxes.
Back to the dusting and putting another load of washing on..........it better be DRY tomorrow like it says.
