Mandy ,(Ruth) my teacher was a close friend with my parents.I certainly wasn't teachers pet lol.More like a headache. :-S.She remained very close to Mum right up until Mum died and was a huge support and a life line.(Bless her) I can still see that blasted skirt and remember having to make the waistband and sew it on. I don't know why I remember that.I think Ruth will remember Janice more than me at school....................Janice was a real little rebel :-S :-S :-S :-S The first day Janice started Primary I had to take her.The Head master greeted her and asked Janice if she was looking forward to school. She said "NO,I was made to come here".I could have died from embarrassment .I was only 10 lol She won't remember that .....but I certainly do :-| :-|

EveningAll,
Dry here this morning till 11.00am, but heavy showers since. Some of the fields of oilseed rape have taken a real pounding and the plants have flopped over. While it was fine, we both did a bit in the garden. I worked on my 'lookout point' while OH laid more of the old slabs down on the other 2 sides of the shed and in front of the greenhouse water butts. He was absolutely done in after and had a rest.
I have decided on the easier option (and save my back!) of getting a preformed waterfall and disguising it with slate and rock. It was going to be really difficult to get the water to flow exactly where I wanted it to and to seal off all the cracks using our lumps of slate, even using the rubber liner behind it. We went and got it this afternoon. from a garden centre at Atherstone......OH was pleased as I will now stop faffing about with it!! :- While we were there, we met the son of a work colleague we both knew. My word, he was age 4 last time I saw him and he's about 6ft 5in now. :-0 He told us he's at Uni, but works at the garden centre in his hols and some weekends when he is at home. OH still sees his dad occasionally at football matches.
Sofia has become a grown up little girl hasn't she. I bet she wants to be in all the photos now!
Your flowers look lovely and fresh Jane and should last well. How were the roast pots? I was wondering if you were teacher's pet too!
Liz good for you having a sit in the sun.....I bet it was lovely. I daren't touch much of OH's at all. He even puts all his own clothes away after they are ironed.....likes everything just so.
I have a quiet day tomorrow, OH is at a meeting in the morning, then taking MIL to hospital in the afternoon for her treatment, then at a match tomorrow night.
Off to bed too now.......these Bank Holidays really put me out, feels like tomorrow should be Monday!

Jane I did laugh at what you said about Chris not sitting with you in the lounge in the evenings. That is just the sort of thing that oh says to me!!!! :-( :-( :-( I think he and Chris would get on well together. I read it out to him and he gave the same answer as Chris gave you.......
Just done a bit of this and that today. Nothing special but it has taken me three days to worm the chickens changing their water every day and thats the only water they can have. Then today it rained and they were drinking the blimmin puddles. I just can't win. Still they had two days of it without any other water. At least in the water I knw they have all had some as they also do something you can add to the mash.
Hope Pat feels a bit better today after her fall.
Ann loved the bluebell picks and the first one is extremley good and would make a lovely pic to greet you on the pooter in the morning. Oh thinks you should send that somewhere. Perhaps for the pudsey calender this year with the other one you took across the field last year with the corn and poppies through the gateway.

That sounds a good idea Ann ,getting the preformed waterfall and then doing your own thing around it.I'm sure it will look amazing with your artistic talent :-D
I was never a Teachers Pet except maybe my Geography teachers .I can't think of his name now .He was a lovely man and a good teacher.I was never really a good pupil .Always messed around in class and just couldn't wait until I was 16 and could leave school. If I could only turn the clock back ,I know I ' Could have done better'...as it was always written in my school report :-| year after year. I am so pleased my 2 didn't turn out like me 'intelligence wise' lolol .They have worked hard and not wasted their education (like mum did :-D :-S :-| :-( )
Good result on BGT tonight I think :-D and now I am off to bed. Night Night All x

Morning All, :-D :-D
The sun is shining, might do a bit in the garden first.
Jane, years ago a lot of school was very boring and a lot of intelligent people don't shine when they are bored. :-D Your children got half their genes from you too.
Mel, I have just googled where to send the Pudsey photos so I might do that. It would be good if someone could use them to help a charity.
Fiona, maybe as you sleep better, you will start to feel better in the mornings over the next few weeks.
Anymore sightings of those 'yellow glows' Mandy? I don't think I'd dare to go and look! lol I hope Pat isn't too stiff after that fall she had, often you feel it a day or two after.
Let's hope you are more comfortable now too Kim. I forgot to take the pic with me last week to show the ladies, so I have put it in my bag ready for this week.....I can hear the 'gasps' now! :-0

Frank, I think I would have been on the FLOOR after 5 pints on an empty stomach! :-0 You sound very chipper today, up with the lark and a lovely breakfast to set you up.
No wonder you are not feeling too great Pat. I hope the antibiotics work soon so you start feeling better. I had gout once in my 30s. I remember being quite shocked when the doc said that's what it was. I was convinced he was wrong and that I had dislocated it, it was so painful. Sometimes you wonder where all these things come from.
OH popped in after his meeting as he had time for a cuppa and is now off to MIL's. I better get back to some weeding while it is dry. :-D

Afternoon everyone,
Started off cloudy here ,hung my washing out and it was nearly dry when the heavens opened !! got soaked getting it in ,looked like a drowned rat !! now the sun is shining ,you carn't win !!
Ann, thanks for the photo's what a lovely carpet of blue all through the trees ,i think that building is an old Nissen Hut ,i think they were used to house people or soldiers during the war . I did look out last night to see if the golden glow was about ,it did look like a pair of eyes looking at me :-S :-S but no sign of any thing , hubby said i was dreaming !!
Oh dear Pat ,gout !! thats can be very painful, my dad suffered from that now and then, hope the antibiotics work soon for you. Our dog Bonnie used to get smelly ears , had to put drops in and she use to see me heading her way to put them in and run away !! heck of a job to do that was .
Frank, i thought you shouldn't warm Pork up !! you don't want to be visiting your white friend again :-S :-S
BIL has been to the doctors today about his knee, it's getting really painful now and he wanted to see if the doctor could hurry it along a bit as he has an infection in it ..... WHAT INFECTION the doctor said, the tests all came back clear .....now why didn't they tell him that before ,the poor man has been really worried since the time he went to the hospital and was told he could loose his leg !!!

I hope I feel better, I do sleep better with the pills BUT!!!
The doctor said I could take these pills when I wanted to, and I have found that when I have taken the pills (1 per night) for 2 nights running I am finding it difficult to concentrate, my legs feel as if they have weights attached to them sooooo heavy to walk :-| and I am tired :-S so I have decided only to take the at weekends when OH is at home and I don't have to cope on my own through the day. I think even the lowest dose is a lot for me .

Hi Folks, I'm still here, but life has had it's joy and sadness just lately, it's a job to balance it all up.
A week last Saturday Nanny Dot passed away peacefully in her armchair. Nanny Dot was Carmel's counterpart in the grand parents stakes. I'd known Dot myself many years before she became part of the family. I used to sing with her late husband Jack in the Male Voice Choir. Anyone who's been in a choir knows it's not just practices and concerts, it's a social way of life. We all used to go on holidays together like one big happy family. Many a night after choir practice, I'd be back in J & D's flat until the small hours. Then Carmel came into my life and she became part of that friendship. Eventually Carmel's daughter Dorothy (my step-daughter) met their son David and the rest is family history as they say. The funeral is tomorrow and there will be a heck of a lot of people there saying their goodbyes. So if I'm not on here tomorrow you will know why.
The joy was that this Saturday was my son Kevin's birthday. He and his wife and the two little ones came from their home in London to spend the weekend in the Midlands and for us all to celebrate his birthday with him. It was a lovely occasion as we don't see them often enough. Funnily enough, they lives not that far from where my Dad, Kevin's GF was born.
On Sunday it was a mixed occasion. We decided to drive out to Staunton Harold Hall in Leicestershire. This is where Carmel's late son was a patient when it was a Sue Ryder palliative care home, and sadly that's where he passed away. We took a sprig of rosemary with us because his ashes are buried down by the lake there. We had earlier bought a tree which was planted there in memory of him and his wife Pat. The original tree died, but somehow, there is another tree on virtually the same spot. The historic church stands adjacent and belongs to the National Trust. It only opens at weekends during summer/spring and luckily for us it was open on Sunday. The NT chap who was on duty showed us the memorial book and looked up Alan's name for us. It was a very poinant moment.
As we were in that area, Carmel contacted her late cousins widow, who lives in Long Eaton, about 20 minutes away from Staunton. We had a lovely visit with her and later on other members of the family showed up too. We hadn't seen them since Gerry's funeral so it was really lovely. We have promised to go more often when the weather picks up. It's a lovely drive over there and only takes about an hour.
Today has been a strange one. Carmel has a mouth infection and I had a lump on my gum. I managed to get a slot at the dentists, meanwhile Carmel rang the surgery and they offered her an appointment in 10 minutes (a cancellation). I was still getting washed! So we shot down the road to the surgery, where she a got a scrip for anti-biotics. I just had time to drop her home and get to the dentists. Sadly, my back tooth that I'd been hanging on to for old times sake, had to come out as it keeps causing gum infection. So, there you have a day that sounds like it came from a Benny Hill show.
The only thing I can say now, is - gosh I'm hungry and I can only eat soft foods for a day or two.
Sorry I haven't posted, but I have been in for a brief look now and then.

First post of the day!.I have been getting things done around the place.Trouble is I doubt anyone will notice :-S My eyes are runny today every time I step outside.I can smell the pollen in the air or it could actually be the Rape .Actually I think that is what it is.It really makes me feel quite odd.I did notice this morning too that a farmer was spraying his field with something :-S :-S.
Pat I'm sorry you are feeling down in the dumps.Hopefully you will soon pick up with the help of your Anti Bs.I always have a very painful big toe. It's not gout (honestly) ;-).It is Arthritis in the joint.it is a nuisance as I can't wear shoes with heels.
Frank ,I'm with Mandy on the idea that you shouldn't reheat pork, but then maybe as it has already been well cooked it is ok. I have reheated Beef Casserole .I found 2 tubs in the freezer. The trouble is it has been so well cooked before the meat has just about disintegrated lolol,so it looks more like a load of slop......I wonder who won't be impressed with that?????James already turned his nose up :-|.But I know it will taste great :-D :-D.
James has an interview tomorrow at last :-D :-D.Not sure what it is but we will wait and hope.

Oh Look there is William
I'm sorry to hear of Nanny Dot William, but hopefully it sudden and peaceful for her.Hope all goes well tomorrow.Although that never sounds right does it,but you know what I mean. It must be Dentist day.James went for a check up and is being referred to have an impacted Wisdom tooth out :-S.For his Check up ,xray and hygienist it is just over £80!!!!! :-0 :-0.Being on Job seekers he would never be able to pay that himself.Lord knows what the wisdom tooth will cost. There must be hundreds of thousands of people who just can't afford a visit to the Dentist and a new generation of young people with bad teeth. You just need to look at the folk on Jeremy Kyle lolol. Most of them don't have any....Sorry if that is bad taste but it's sooooooo true :-)

It's been a really lovely day here weatherwise, so I've done two loads of washing and dried it outside!! More sitting in the sun reading, but all change tomorrow according to the local weather forecast! I agree with you about the Dentist Jane - It really is a financial nightmare if you have to have ANY treatment at all. I have to go to the hygenist next Friday which will be £47 as she is private (no National Health hygenist in this area), then in June we both have check ups (this is National Health) and will be saying our prayers that there are no issues!! Don't people on Jobseekers get any help with Dentistry, eyes etc? If not, then clearly they just simply wouldn't be able to afford to go. Think I'll give Jeremy Kyle a miss, I've only watched it once, and I found it a a bit yuk! Long Spaghetti for supper tonight, easy on the teeth! so better get on.
