Evening All,
Nice to see you back Frank! :-D I saw a programme about them building the Shard and watching some of that made me feel wobbly so I KNOW I wouldn't be able to go up it!! lol. Someone I worked with years ago climbed the Eiffel Tower in Paris with a friend. She got halfway up and just froze with fear and couldn't move. She said they had to put a bag on her head to bring her down!! :-0
That is good work that the sewing group will be doing. Ros certainly does her bit for charitable causes and the funds they raise will be much appreciated.
It was quite chilly and foggy here this morning but I just had my cardie on to go beading. When I came out after the temperature had dropped to 5 degrees showing in the car!! When we drove off to a couple of garden centres later, a couple of miles from home it was down to 3 degrees and very foggy and stayed the rest of the day.
Today one of the ladies was talking about an undertaker in the village where I lived as a teenager. She lives in a very old house in the next village that she discovered had belonged to his ancestors and she'd been telling him about it. It must have been his father that I knew and his undertaker's parlour was in the middle of the village next to the little shop that sold everything. He was quite a character with a sense of humour (which must help in that kind of job) and would often pop in the little shop nextdoor and mum turned around in there once to find him 'measuring her up' with his tape measure streched across her shoulders !! He always used to say that when he had finished with his 'customers' they looked better than when they were alive!! lol. Appropriately for the occasion, he always had his serious, sombre face on when driving his hearse.
Australia is having some awful weather ......what with the fires and I was just looking at the huge sandstorm blowing in from the sea. It must all be quite frightening.
Did you see that about the slugs that grow 5 inches long that they think arrived here from Spain on imported salad leaves? The Mail says 'Ian Bedford, of Head of Entomology at the Government-funded John Innes Centre in Norwich, identified the slug after finding hundreds in his own garden.' They eat everything including each other.Yuk.

Silent witness last night when it started I was a bit confused and only later realised that the bloke boxing was the new chap on the scene with Leo etc. I got into it just as it finished but quite enjoyed it and the conclusion tonight. It takes a bit of getting used to when they change people in a program you like and follow.
William I think you need to ask the fairies for the lost things. You have to say "If you borrowed them may I have them back please" three times. Then they will turn up. It works for me as things are always going astray here too.
I forgot to tell you that my friend Di bought me a lovely big crystal for Christmas that you hang in a window. It is huge to the others I have seen in the shops and when the sun shines thorugh the bedroom window I get rainbows all around the room.

I was looking for some Lavender Pot Pourri at the garden centres today as the old stuff was past it's best and was thrown out months ago. I told OH that I wanted it to help me sleep. His comment was ........that I needed CHLOROFORM. :-S

Any lavender will make you sleep. I sometimes put Yardley's Lavender water on my bed sheets when I change the bed. I still have loads of it as I had it and bought it for mum. I can send you some lavender flowers from the garden if you would like it.

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember. -The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ. -Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments. -Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.- -The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke &John. -The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament. -The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation. -Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy. -The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes. -Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control. -The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments. -The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples. -The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed

Morning all/Evening Kim.
SNOW SNOW SNOW. Only a sprinkling at the moment, but the sky looks full of it. (Mums old saying)
William that little fairy certainly gets around, he was here at Christmas, now he/she is moving north. ;-) ;-) ;-) The move you rack your brains the harder it gets to find them. As Mary said "leave them alone and they will come home"
David, I had a silly smile on my face with that one THANKS. I also like the twelve days of Christmas. very clever. !!!
Ann I do like your OHs sense of humour. Just the sort of thing I would say, and get a clip round the ear, for saying it. :-0 :-0
I walked around the "ESTATE" yesterday, and there are so many bulbs showing through. If this snow settles it will wrap them up nice and cosy, for a few weeks, and slow them down
Couldn't get anyone to look at the thing hanging from under the car during the week, so Ros has dropped it off this morning for a Oil/Filter and a general check over. We olnly do 5000/6000 miles a year, so I don't have a full service every year to much EXPENSE. But if anything needs doing, he will do it..
Mel, any sign of any other hogs in the garden ??? or are you still feeding the local cats.
Mandy I haven't looked at my Emails yet, but will do so, when i've posted.
Jane have you got your car and freedom this morning ?? or is James down the "SMOKE"
Heating has gone off now, so have put the Hologen lamp on, keeps the lounge warm, till we put the heating on later.
I have told ROS NO MEATS on her shopping trip today. She is always finding this or that on offer and buys it. I can't get anymore in the Freezer. When Conrad and Jan come to see us, I am always sending them home with carrier bags full of meat. !!! I must get a joint out for SUNDAY. Will do that now while I think of it.
See you later.

It's certainly cold here this morning with a biting wind and rain!! Yesterday Millie and I walked to the village, but today it was far too nasty so we went in the car! Cleaned Merlin's field, and finished clearing up a load of leaves. Poor Merlin is still looking for his 'friends' and calling for them! A pity they ever came really as it has unsettled him, but there we go, I tell him that he lived in certain parts of the world he would be in serious trouble, so he must be grateful for small mercies!!!! We are making marmalade today, a good day to do it as it's so horrid outside. (no my bulbs aren't showing yet Frank, why aren't you surprised!!!) We should get it all done today which will be good. Didn't think much of Silent Witness, I seemed to lose the thread and ended up not really caring one way or the other!!! mind you, like you William I did doze off so perhaps that had something to do with it! Nearly time for lunch - hope you manage to find what you want on the utility front Jane, it will be nice to be completely up together again.

Mel, I'll try that one, no harm, everything else has failed. I used to ask my little statue of St Anthony (St Anthony seek, St Anthony find, St Anthony put it before my mind), who in all these past years has never failed me, well, he's getting evicted!!! Fairies here I COME.
Mandy, your version sounds like one of those Russian dolls, where there's one inside another, inside another etc etc. No doubt these things will turn up - when we are NOT looking for them.
Staying in today, not very warm out and we've nothing to go out for anyway. C Y A L

Lunch time oh saw what he thought was a stoat on the top of our big wall. We saw it a couple of times.
Then the bantams started making a racket so we went out with our cameras but could'nt see anything. I went out the back door for a ciggy and then saw it in the orchard. Told oh and we both went back out with cameras and we saw it in the orchard and it went into the back garden bit and across the grass and then into the hedgehog box!!!!! Wish my new camera was on out there as I would have had a nice couple of videos. Anyway oh took 200 photos !! as it went behind our little wall towards the big chickens round by the oil tank. He was standing on the little wall looking over the fence but I could'nt see it now as I was on the decking.
