Morning/Evening All
There is a funny looking sky this morning .A mixture of blue, grey ,white and a bit of pink.I wonder how it will turn out.My towels are in my neighbours machine at the moment.I don't think I will hang them out though. They will have to go up in the bathroom on the horse.
I think I might get some more cards done today(if I get around to it).Just now I found a big tub of laundry that has somehow been hidden for a couple of weeks. It is all clean (thank goodness) but what ever needs ironing will be so creased and sooo dry :-S

Morning everyone,

We have lovely sun shine ,but the frost is still lingering .

Well so much for me thinking my throat was better ,i can hardly speak this morning !! i'am so croaky i have to keep repeating things to hubby which is really annoying ,feel perfectly fine and my throat is not even sore ,very odd.

Off shopping in a while will just wait for the frost to lift so i don't have to scrape the windscreen of the car ,i'll let the sun do that job for me :-)

Goodness Mel, you don't know what you are missing!! We love foreign food, as did my parents, both of whom had/did spent a lot of time abroad. My mother was a very good cook and was always keen to 'explore' different dishes. Cold here today, but sunny. L not at all well, so am going over later to see what's what. Mousaka for supper tonight, one of my favorites, as is Paella!!

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Sort of sun and showers this morning but the showers have been like fine hail.

I am afraid I don't like chiritsio?? sausage or any sea food so I don't go there. Glad your dinner was tasty for you though Jane. We had Lamb and mint sausages with peas and a cauliflower cheese last night.

On to my wreaths again today. I have to go and pick some more holly too and ivy leaves to go around the ivy flower heads.

Morning all /evening Kim,

"Blue sky's nothing but Blue sky's" Beautiful morning here, Frost still around in places, and a cold wind/breeze.

Porous then Jane.I told you to get sold up and away from there. The water fairy is around your area. !!
I loved my foreign foods when I was in Foreign lands. But I must admit apart from Spag bols and cutty I rarely eat anything from my Meat and three Veg. I can't remember when I lasted had Sausages for a meal. :-D :-D :-D,

Ros has now started to decorate the tree, we found baubles from when we were on the cruise. Brings back Memories. When it's finished I will get a photo. The lounge looks like a BOMB has gone off. Box's everywhere, I will get them back in the garage later. Then I have the job of putting up the outside lights round the bungalow. That should be fun and games.

Mel, how many Wreaths do you make each year. Ros bought one for her M & D grave with new plastic flowers. (fresh ones just get pinched) We will go over there one day next week.

Mandy, Rub your chest in Camphore oil, and on the bridge of your nose and throat, it will stink a bit, but will help to relieve the iritation.

Please don't be offended in any way. BUT this year I will not be sending CHRISTMAS CARDS. The money I would spend on cards and Postage will be donated to Cancer research I will be thinking of you all, and will find a nice E card to send to you all.

Shower and shave time. see you later.

Ros has started to decorate the tree. We have baubles from the Carribean

Frank it depends how many I make as to the weather really. I hav'nt put any up the other shop in Sheepwash for two years now as we had snow and oh won't let me out in the car when it snows. So now it is only Shebbear that has them as thats only 2 miles up the road. I do make posies too the old fashioned way on a ball of moss. I am thinking of doing a few bars this year as they fit nicely on a headstone.

LilyL Report 4 Dec 2012 12:40

I'm writing this at L's, just to say that I'm doing exactly the same as you Frank ref: -Xmas Cards, so no offence taken here!! E cards it is!

William Report 4 Dec 2012 15:50

Christmas lights all up now, really looking festive. Carmel has decorated the sideboard in our kitchen-diner so it's even looking nice when we have our din-dins. There's only the last minute things and things we've forgotten to add now. All be over before you know it, then it's holiday ads on TV!!

Been down to the opticians this morning, prescription goggles still OK but I'm getting what's called 'occular migrains', so that's for the doc to sort out. He said as long as my 'dry macular degeneration didn't turn into the 'wet' sort, I'm OK for a while. That and my cholresterol is too high - me, I eat less than a bird, and try to eat the right things. Still I've got pills now to reduce the cholesterol now so hopefully all will be well soon. (PS. The doc told me about my cholesterol, not the optician!)

Enjoyed the Variety Performance last night, but much as I've enjoyed his music, I think Neil Diamond is past his sell by date now. Could have done with more of Katherine Jenkins, doesn't she just have everything.

Things to do now, C Y A L

Hi Liz, I didn't expect any trouble, that why I mentioned it !!! Hope your daughter is feeling a bit better.

Mel, your poor hands mush ache, winding all that wire around the wreaths But I bet they look better than most in the shops.

The Tree in complete now as well as the Mantle piece, and the window sill at the front. Tomorrow the lights will go up on the gutter and the new tree with all the lights will be anchored to the ground, can't take any chances with people wanting something that doesn't belong to them :-( :-( :- With out blowing our own TRUMPET, we do the best decorations in the close, and the small children love them. Excuse the OLD TREE being included in the photo of the Christmas tree, don't know how that happened.

Darkness is beginning to creap in, but a smashing sky in the west. I expect we will see another frost tonight, there could be a bit of SNOW down the East Coast. LOOK OUT MANDY. !!!

The Christmas presents have been started on, John and Carolyn go away Sat. so need to be wrapped.. It's also Julia's Birthday on the 12th so Ros is wrapping that, she will drop it off in Toddington on Sat. when she takes J & C to the airport.

Frank

Frank Report 4 Dec 2012 18:03

Where is everyone, Getting dinner I expect.

No F & C tonight, giving them a rest. It seems when I have them from the van I get an upset tummy.

Ros bought a nice steak pie from Beckwith yesterday, so will do that with mash and veg.

Holby on again tonight, so I will either be on here or watcvhing football here, or go down the pub and have a pint and watch football there.

Did you see the Variety performance last night. It was on for two and three quarter hours and seemed like an hour. How enjoyable was that. I do wish we had more programmes with a bit of variety, Like we use to in the FIFTY's and SIXTY's Thank gawd X factor is over this weekend. Might be something worth watching after Come Dancing. Who's got a favourite to win that. ???and who ???Denise is mine.

Jane Report 4 Dec 2012 18:03

Oh Frank ,you are looking very festive in your household :-D :-D.I love the Mantle Piece.
Of course I'm offended not getting a card............No not really lol I have been going through my list and realise I send cards to people who I haven't seen or spoken to in over 30 years,so am making the decision to strike them off now.I wouldn't even know them if I passed them in the street.I think there will be many people this year not sending cards or at least not so many as the cost is ridiculous.I do like sending them though :-D

Liz ,how was your Laura? Not too poorly I hope. And Mandy how is your croak.Sounds like Laryngitis if your throat isn't actually sore.I used to get that a lot.

Dinner is in .Chicken Breasts topped with Asparagus and wrapped with Pancetta rashers.Little tiny Roast Potatoes, more Asparagus and Peas.James is absolutely Hank Marvin. He said he was so busy at work he didn't have time for lunch.
He now has an 80% chance of working until the 21st.So that would be great.Nothing in the job pipeline though :-S.I feel so sorry for him.Not a good start to 2013 with no job
:-(
Gasman back tomorrow morning to fix leaky boiler :-D...See I am still getting men visitors :-D :-D ;-) ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Dec 2012 19:02

O yes forgot to say what a lovely tree Frank and will Ros come round and do mine please????? Pretty please??? :-D :-D :-D :-D

I don't wire to the wreaths I wire bundles of different stuff together and then put them on the ring, each individually.

6 yellow fir
6 green fluffy fir,
3 long sprigs of holly,
3 double ivy flowers wired with leaves round,
3 cones,
3 holly with berries
3 yellow bunches in the middle of the ring
and 6 bows all hand made and wired.

Thats 33 wired things to one wreath.

Thanks for the enquiries about L,she's okish Jane, but not brilliant. After Xmas she is going to talk to her doctor, as these episodes have been going on for years and make her feel so worn out and not fit for anything, which, running a business and with three youngsters is just not on. She may have to see an ENT specialist to see if there is something she can do to help herself, maybe have her tonsils out - I'm not sure, but for certain she does look rotten and feels worse! problem is that she can't eat as she feels so sick, and there isn't much of her anyway, she's as thin as a reed on a good day!- we shall see. Forgot to get an aubergine, so no Moussaka! Spaghetti 'B' instead! not quite the same but very nice and EASY. Apple Crumble for puds, so we won't starve! Tomorrow, hairdresser first thing then Sainsbury's - what a thrill!!!! Sorry to hear about James, being out of work can be very depressing, so lets hope he finds something soon.

Jane

Jane Report 4 Dec 2012 19:46

Liz. James had years of not feeling well every so often .Missed lots of school .Turned out it was his tonsils They were manky. He used to get dreadful temperatures and hallucinate and at 6ft something not easy to deal with when he was seeing things and being aggressive .He had his tonsils out when he was 16 and hasn't had any trouble since :-D.It was very painful as I believe it is when you are older but was certainly worth getting rid of them.Maybe that will be the answer for Laura.
Shame about your Moussaka ,but bet your spag bol was delicious.
We will be eating at 8.I'm pretty darned hungry.
Have we heard from Pat lately????

LilyL

LilyL Report 4 Dec 2012 19:59

That may well be the answer Jane, when I was litle tonsils and adenoids were taken out as a matter of course, but when L was little it was not thought the thing to do, so of course she kept hers; M had his out, but that was because he had inner ear trouble, which meant he had to have gromits and heaven knows what including the removal of T & A, when he was about 3, and like your James, it did the trick. L says that her neck swells right up (I could see that!) and she can feel/taste her tonsils! sounds quite vile and need sorting out. As you say though, like all these things it's worse when you are older. I know she's 44 but I still worry about her when she's not well!!!
