Afternoon All,

It was raining here at 6.30am when I got up! :-( Would you believe it, the first thing OH said was 'I'll go and put the kettle on and get you a cup of tea'!!!!!! :-| He'd forgotten I could only have water till I'd been to the hospital. There should have been 8 of us this morning but only 4 turned up........poor isn't it. That Luc*zade stuff is NOT what you fancy first thing especially a jugful!!. I just remembered in time to tell them that I had an allergic reaction to their wipes last time before I got swabbed for the first blood test. Now I have plasters on both arms......I think they took about 5 lots from each arm......is there any left?? The hospital research area is behind security doors opened by number codes like we had at work. There are interesting labels on some of the doors like, 'Tropical Disease Research'. I have agreed for them to do DNA research on my blood as well as for the study. The nurse told me that these studies will help them to tailor more effective treatments to the individual and their genetic makeup in the future. My BP was good, but I am still a bit dehydrated like last time. I had a pint and a half of water before I went as well.......still must try harder......supposed to plump out the wrinkles!!! :-D Now I have the accelerometer strapped to my hip to measure my activity, but this year it doesn't have the flashing light which is good as having something flashing under your top can attract unwanted attention! I have to wear it for a week and then send it back to them. Now I have to wait for the blood test results and for the scan appointment. I had thought this was the last lot of tests but found out that it will end with next years tests.

OH's footie match tonight has been cancelled but the water levels have gone right down around here. I just looked at the local forecast for the next few days and it shows snow for Saturday!!! I really must ask Santa for some nice wellies that fit.

It will be nice to call and see your friend when you go to Jane's tomorrow Frank.....a good opportunity. I hope you have a shirt left to go in though!! lol. Don't forget to mind your 'P's and 'Q's .

It's stopped raining here now Mandy, but the wind has got up and it blew our bins over (bin day) and the plastics went all over the place. You must be wondering with the rain whether you will get to Norwich to do some Christmas shopping. We are going to the retail park nearby after 6.00pm today when it gets quieter. I have some stuff to take back, OH wants new slippers and we hope to get a new ironing board at last!

Kim, sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. If it's any consolation I don't think I could manage or have the stamina for a teenage party either!!

Hope you have a nice time this afternoon Jane, William will take your mind off things for a while. I hope Janice's back has eased too.

It's impossible to make some things without a lot of mess Mel. I make huge messes just doing a vase of flowers! Is your lodger still making mess too?

A few names I can recall that I have come across are Mabel Thorpe, Lucy Tania, Ivan Atton and Elvis Singh. In my family tree I have an Ann Till and Lucy Tooth (OH reckons she would have been called Luce Tooth).

Evening everyone
Well what a lovely day I have had.William has to be the most placid and laid back baby I have ever seen.He is an absolute sweetie. We all tripped down to Fitz and had a nice couple of hours sat around his nice fire.We lay William down on the floor, and Bella(Fitz's Mums cat just wandered up to him ,had a sniff and wandered off.But Podge(Fitz's Cat) took a couple of steps into the room and just froze in mid step.It was like he had turned into stone lolol. His tail fluffed up big and his back went up and then he just legged it.It was hillarious.

Frank I will the soul of discretion tomorrow and won't drop you in it. Just come straight into the drive. We have the Pink Skip(if it hasn't been picked up).You will have to excuse any mess here :-S

No flashing body then this time Ann :-D :-D.I think it great that you are allowing your DNA to help the research.

Chris is of to Ike* MK tomorrow to get the feet and handles for the new units. The units are out in the summerhouse (luckily saved from the flooded garage).

Fitz has ALL my washing.Bless him.I will have to repay him with a couple of bottles

:-D

Right ,now I must get dinner started.Thank heavens Chris is home late :-D

I think I told you before that my mum had a friend called Nora Bone. Don't think I could go on with a name like that. What was her parents thinking of when they named her.

William

William Report 27 Nov 2012 19:50

Thanks Ann and Mel. They are 'cracking' names. Everytime Jane starts talking about William, I think she's on about me!

Holby on tonight, but we keep saying we are fed up with it and then we go and watch it anyway. I see the Holby arm-folding epidemic has spread downstairs to the Casualty department. It has mutated to ' hands on hips' and is affecting Dylan every week!!! I don't think they have enough to do, the nurses in our local hospital are all to busy USING their hands to have time time fold them or do hands on hips.

What abot the name of that singer - Lou Rawls (Loo rolls), always doing his paperwork!!! Carmel's son by her first marriage was called Jimmy - she wanted to call him Ralfe, until someone reminded her that her surname then was Balfe!

I saw on the evening news that Coleshill (not so far from here) was second highest on the flood charts. I suppose that's because the river Blythe runs around there. Good job the actual town (if you can call it that) goes uphill. Carmel keeps saying she'd love to live in a bungalow - I'm now saying that a lot of the people flooded are GLAD they don't live in bungalows - they'd have no upstairs to to retreat to.

LOL William.I will either have to say young or old William (think you might know which one I mean) :-D :-D.I love these names. Some people just don't think when they give their children 'weird ones'.I suppose it just doesn't enter their heads that they have to live with them :-S.Nora Bone !!!!!! poor girl :-S :-S
Just going to dish up now.I'm flipping starving.

Frank Report 27 Nov 2012 20:35

What a job getting to post on here. Been everywhere getting on here.

Had a lovely plate of F & C for tea. Ros is watching HOLBY. so i'm out of the way.

She spent her vouchers this afternoon, on a little top and a jacket. Bet it wasn't just vouchers. ;-) ;-) ;-)

It seems very unfair some of the names given to children. Parents just don't think what the kids go through in the playgound :-0 :-0 :-0

I went out to get the F & Cs tonight, and the temp. has dropped right down. The shy is very bright, so I expect a frost tonight (better than the rain). The young neighbour was out there in his T shirt..

Mel you are busy getting everything done for Christmas.

Ann, I hope you soon get over all the tooong and throwing, and the blood tests.

Jane see you about 11.00 am

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Welcome to the world our new baby Matteo. Hope Fiona is getting better too <3 <3 <3

Dry morning here and I don't think we had a frost last night. Moon was very bright inbetween the clouds.

Thanks for the pic Jane of baby William. What a happy chappy he seems to be.

Morning/Evening All

No Frank this morning. He had a bad night so is coming over this afternoon with Ros to collect the Hostess Trolley.

I have sent some pics out but not too all as Iam still missing some email addresses in my new list on here.So I apologise.Maybe those of you who have the pics can see whose names I have missed out and pass them on :-D.I will eventually get this flipping email address book sorted.

Mel I am having a haircut tomorrow ,but have grown it longer now.

Fitz just dropped off all my washing so I better get it all sorted ,and then make more Lamb and Mint Pinwheels.I lost the others I had in the freezer :-D

Annx Report 28 Nov 2012 11:25

Morning All,

Well, they were wrong at the hosp......my hip is still 'flashing' ! lol.

Another new grandchild for Fiona, that should cheer her up a bit! I wonder how she is doing on the new treatment? Hope she is feeling better. <3

Wave, wave, HELLO Frank and Ros if you are at Jane's now.........I can see you sitting with your tea.....just like Last of the Summer Wine!!! :-D

I have just had a 'burst' of the dreaded HW, just hoovered and dusted the bedrooms, hall, en suite and bathroom........the rest can be done another day!

OH has trotted off to the dentist as he still keeps getting toothache with a sensitive tooth. Then he is off to a meeting.

Jane, I hardly recognised your garden under all that water!!!! :-0 It is so lucky your other rooms weren't flooded, but what a mess in your garage :-D It will be quite a job going through things to see what can be salvaged.

Think I will pop out and do some errands now......I still need an ironing board, but it has to fit in my cupboard.

Annx

Annx Report 28 Nov 2012 11:29

Oh, I see Jane has posted that Frank will be there this afternoon.......I will have to postpone my wave!! lol.

Are there more pics of William from yesterday Jane? Are you growing your hair as long as Mel's? I sometimes wish mine was a bit longer when the wind is cold on my neck and ears.

BBL.

Oh has just given me a quote for the week. He has made one of his shallow bowls into bird feeders as the robin keeps coming in the garage for mealworms and he came in for some sunflower seed kernals. he had cut the bowl in half and stuck one half on the garage door and the other on the shelving side just inside the garage.

He said:-

"Robins are like women, give them a little and they keep coming back for more"

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Nov 2012 14:43

Gosh Jane I have just looked at your flood pics. If you are going to put those new units in the garage I would suggest that Chris makes a small stage to put them on also the washing machine and drier and freezer etc. so as to be safe in the future.

What a blimmin nuisance with all the stuff you have in there.

Little William's cream suit is gorgeous he could do modleing with a handsome face like his and you would get paid a lot of money for it too.

I knew someone who had twins and they were on Eastenders as someones baby. Can't remember who it was now on the program but the mother had them on an agency.

Jane

Jane Report 28 Nov 2012 15:12

Just waiting for Frank and Ros.The fire is blazing nicely and kettle on :-D

Annx

Annx Report 28 Nov 2012 15:21

Yes some wooden pallets would do the trick wouldn't they Mel. Your OH has made some posh feeders for the birds!! He is the 'wise one' with his sayings today isn't he.....lol.

I hadn't realised your front garden was under water as well Jane!! :-0 You must have had to wade to get to your cars. Little William looks gorgeous in his little cableknit outfit doesn't he. Lovely big brown eyes too. He looks a happy boy and is a real credit to Janice and her son.....his mum would be so proud of how they are caring for him. :-)

Well, I have fetched the washing in and was just doing another load and realised I'd selected the wrong programme!! Can I get it to change to the right one.....NO!!! :-P :-P :-P I've switched the machine off and I've switched it off at the wall, but every time I switch it back on it wants to carry on with the wrong programme!! What a pain these 'modern' machines are.......will have to find the paperwork now and ring the mnfr I suppose......bah, bah, bah!!!! I thought things were going too well today.

We really enjoyed 'Last Tango in Halifax' last night- talk about tangled webs!!! can't wait for next week's episode.nothing to watch tonight though, so back to a recording! Not been a bad day so Millie and I had a really good walk this afternoon, Merlin's field is now dry(ish), no standing water and hopefully it will stay that way!

Jane

Jane Report 28 Nov 2012 17:05

Frank and Ros have just gone with the trolley. How nice to meet them both .We had a jolly good old natter lol. They brought me some beautiful flowers :-D.They will look grand in a big vase once I have found one in the garage !!

Mel good idea about raising the machines off the floor in the garage .But we are hoping it won't flood again like that again once all the culverts ,ditches have been sorted.

I am going to have to catch a bus tomorrow to get to the hairdressers :-S I don't think I have ever had to get one here.My friend gave me the timetable this morning so hopefully I will get the one I need. The bus stop is just 2 doors away. One bus an hour ,so if I miss it I will be stuffed lol.

It is getting really chilly outside now :-S

William

William Report 28 Nov 2012 17:12

We loved 'Last Tango' last night too. Brilliant TV and when it ends, I'm wishing it would go on far longer. When Alan was looking at his old school photo and saying, t"they're dead, they're dead" we had to laugh. It's like if we look at our 33 year old wedding photos, there are more folk on there that have died than the now living! Also, the kids on the photos have now grown up and got kids of their own - or have married and divorced. What a tale time can tell.. .

We decided to go to Nuneaton later this morning. Normally it's a 10-15 minutes trip in the car. Got five minutes up the road - accident - no proper diversion, just a guy directing us to the turning on the right. It turned into the old Benny Hill shows! Having turned right, we all took the back street on the left. You couldn't get through there so everyone was doing an about turn - chaos. I thought we'd cut through Marston Jabbet back lane and go around that way. About 2 miles up the lane - ROAD CLOSED - FLOODS!!! So back again, cut all round Bulkington and back to Nuneaton that way. Total journey time - ONE HOUR!!! At least we got back normal time as there was no sign of an accident by then.

And that 's it from Old William LOL C Y A L
