That sounds like rheumatoid arthritis David. I had a friend as a teenager who was the sole carer for his mum who was bedridden with it in those days. I remember seeing her and feeling so sorry for them both. He worked full time so she must have had lonely hours in that bed and what a burden and worry for a teenage boy. Hopefully one day there will be a cure for many more of our afflictions!

Jane, not another leak!!! Yes hopefully a tighten of a joint will fix it. I bet you are on the lookout for leaks all the time now!! :-S A Doctor's lot isn't always a cheerful one is it.

I haven't seen that programme Mel. You have reminded me of my dad though. As soon as a film or programme on tv showed a kiss, he would mutter about 'rubbish' and turn over to another station.....even when I was aged 20 !!

Off to bed now ready for an early start tomorrow.......

Yes,that's the one Ann.
Down the years she had so many operations and replacement joints.
Didn't work. She spent the last 15 years of her life a complete cripple.
She suffered from bed sores but was never a complainer.

Morning/Evening All

Dull and cloudy here but feeling very mild.Men are here.My first visitors of the day were the blooming Window Cleaners !! Luckily Chris was up and dressed so managed to pull the one curtain that I had opened.I was sat in bed in the all together reading my book and enjoying my cuppa.I do wish they wouldn't arrive so early :-S

Frank my dear .How are things this morning. Is it safe or should we stay clear of you lol.
Seriously though I hope things are getting back to normal between the 2 of you.
We have times when there is absolute silence .Yes we have ate a meal cleared up gone our own ways and then in the morning it might just be a few words with one word answers lol.By the time he comes home from work things are usually ok. :-D

I am sat amongst all the mess with laptop on the coffee table. Not the most comfortable position but there is no way I can get to the dining table .

Morning all,

Yes things a lot better this morning, we have spoke. I tried to explain why my memories made me so cross. At 17 I nursed my dad for two years, then 6 weeks after he died I am in the RAF. 4 years of my life just dissapeared. I feel that I missed a lot, of growing up time.

Jane the mind boggles, these B leaks, I hope you don't get more trouble. I can just see you wandering around checking all the pipe joints. I can see you doing away with Central Heating, and have underfloor Electric heating. :-D :-D :-D

I looked out at the bird feeder this morning and it was almost empty. I have refilled the seed pots. Must get more fat balls.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Nov 2012 11:43

Ha Bl***y Ha Frank.....actually I like the idea of underfloor heating.......but what if something goes wrong all the floors will be up again :-S :-S :-D :-D.I will just have to stick to leaky joints lol Mario is going to make sure nothing is dripping :-D He is behind me at the moment stripping....................(wallpaper ;-) ;-) ;-)

Glad things have smoothed over Frank. :-D

We had under floor heating in the bungalow at Redbridge but it went through ducts or trunking that my grandfather made. We had vents in the floor where the warm air came up[. It was great if you had cold feet you could just pop them over a vent!! ;-)

Afternoon all,

Cloudy here today no sign of any sun and the wind seems to have got up.

Frank glad to hear that your back on speaking terms with each other , makes a long old day when no one speaks !!

Got the family coming tonight ,Beef Cobbler was asked for today ,so i've cooked the meat in the pressure cooker and that's nice and tender now ,just got to do the topping later ,Carrots ,sprouts and Green beans and mash to go with it ,and Banana custard for pud .

Jane, carn't you asked the window cleaners to give a couple of rings of the door bell when they get there ,at least it would give you a bit of warning that they are about .

We have a hot water pipe that runs along under the floor boards on the landing ,Toby knows just where to find it :-D :-D

I listened to them playing Clive Dunn's 'Grandad' song this morning and listening to all the words reminded me of this column. All that reminiscing about when he (as a song) was younger. What a pity all our lovely memories die with us. He was certainly a character, may he R I P.

Carmel went for the procedure on her tongue this morning, the biopsy for Lichen Planus. Having been told it was nothing to worry about, my poor coleen is in so much pain and discomfort. The doctor had to cut into her tongue, take a sample, then insert three stitches. Now the lignacane has worn off she is in a bad way. However, we can't fault the George Eliot hospital. The doctor and nurses were so good and we didn't have to wait long. Trying to eat a little Oatso for her lunch she thought a stich had come out. I rang the Maxi Dept and was reassured it was a piece they cut off the actual stitch which had got trapped under her tongue. A little while later, the same nurse rang back to say if we were at all worried there was a clinic at 4pm. and she would be seen as this nurse would alert the doctor. She said in any case if we didn't show she would ring back at four to make sure all was OK.

Loads of TLC is the best I can offer her, but it's even put me off my food. However, it needs to be done to find out the best way for them to treat the L P, and the doctor said it was a bad case of it. My poor Carmel seems to get everything that's going.

Jane I'm not saying Devils Claw is a cure, but it's certainly taken the pain out of my fingers and I'm able to use them better. It got that I couldn't even stand the weight of a shopping bag across my fingers.

Maureen Report 8 Nov 2012 16:43

Poor Carmel she must be feeling very low, not a very nice procedure by the sounds of it William. Just time I think for the soreness and pain to wear off. Perhaps a little soup, can't imagine eating would be very easy.

2 cards have arrived already, I know one is from Kim ..... Australian postmark ......
that is so nice of you to take the trouble especially when you are not feeling well Kim.

While on holiday my friend saw a print of a Spanish Street Scene and said she would love me to do her a larger sized painting like it, I wished I'd bought the print now, then I would have something to go by, I can't find anything like it on line. Are there any art shops around now that do prints, I know Athena shops are long gone.

Not so cold today, haven't had to put the heating on yet.

Frank Report 8 Nov 2012 16:49

Will, I do feel for Carmel. Ros has had this Lichen Planus for some years now. The specialist gave her some cream, which is dan gerous to use. It can cause Cancer of the M outh (Jane ask Chris. what it is) has to be very careful what she eats, Spices play havoc with her mouth. NO CHILLIES!!!!

Weather hasn't been bad today, but overcast and quite cool.

Jane at your age YOU do tend to LEAK. <3 <3 <3 <3

I hope Carmel's pain and discomfort in her tongue doesn't last too long William.I'm sure she is getting plenty of TLC from her loving hubby :-D :-D Please wish her well from me.

I must go and see what is going on with the men.
I can still hear wall paper being pasted.Apparently there will be 3 of them here tomorrow to try and get everything done by the end of the day.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Nov 2012 17:50

Oooops! We didn't order enough wallpaper :-S :-S. We just need to get one more roll.Fingers crossed we can get the same batch number.Blooming typical isn't it.(I blame Chris for not allowing wastage due to the pattern :-D :-D)

I have just cleaned all the worktops so I can do dinner.Just a lick and a promise as it will be thick with dust again tomorrow with the grouting. They didn't manage the kitchen floor grout today.

James is picking Jess up in Northampton now as she will be here for the weekend.I think it is ridiculous her coming really as James is having his G A and Wisdom tooth out tomorrow and won't exactly be life and soul this weekend. But when I mentioned it to James I just got the look as if to say 'I was talking rubbish '.
After they have had dinner tonight they are off to see the James Bond film.

Thank you all for your support and good wishes. As soon as Carmel wakes up I'll pass them on to her. Although not good news Frank, it is comforting to know that she is not the only one, and your understanding goes a long way. The hospital rang true to their word and still assured me that if we are at all worried, take her along tomorrow morning. I guess it's the old words, tell will see an improvement. I wince for her although I can't physically feel her pain.

I'll catch you all as soon as I can.

Carmel hasn't got the support of her daughter because she caught the plane over to Ireland just in time to be there before one of the relatives passed away. What a tangled old world.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Nov 2012 18:06

Oooo poor Carmel. Do give her my best wishes William and I hope the pain eases soon so she can be more comfortable.

I think the soup thing should be a good idea for her tonight.

Jane it sounds as though they are getting on well and hope to finish by tomorrow then? :-D :-D :-D

Been quite mild here today again and I have mossed 7 rings ready to do my wreaths. Now all I have to do is find the rest of the rings :-| :-| I know I have some somewhere but I fear they are in the loft so thats a job for tomorrow when oh can get the door down for me. I hav'nt been up there for so long, at least a year. Hope I can still get up there!! :-0

Jane

Jane Report 8 Nov 2012 18:14

Mel I haven't been in our loft for donkeys years. It gives me the willies. There is not much up there now as Chris had a big clear out a few years back.I hope you find what you are looking for :-D

One of the men here today sounds like he might be interested in having James's car.(it is just about to go for scrap)That would be brilliant for James if he got a little more money :-D

Well James and Jess have arrived so i better go and meet and greet.

MillymollyAmanda

Oh poor Carmel William , what an awful thing to have to go through ,i carn't imagine the discomfort she must be in , i hope the pain eases and she has a comfortable night ...wishing her all the best <3 <3

It will be good Jane if James can get a little money for the car , better than having to pay to scrap it .
Hope you can manage to get more wall paper so they can get the job finished .
Wishing James well for tomorrow , he'll be on the soup tomorrow too then.

Family all gone now and peace reigns again :-S :-D
