Frank, when my knees were worse OH kept telling me to get one of those walking poles. He was right I think, looking back. You can underestimate how helpful it is having something to steady yourself with. I hope you have a good night 's sleep tonight. I was still awake at 2.30am this morning......it keeps happening lately. Maybe I should stuff a pillow with lavender!!! :-D

A rainy day sounds like a day of indoor jobs..........I can see cobwebs in here :-S Mandy won't be the 'lady' sitting in the garden at her new table with her coffee either if it is pouring will she. :-S

Off to bed with my O*altine now.......nightie night....

Morning all/Evening Kim.

No rain here yet either. but very overcast.

What a dissapointment DCI BANKS was last night. The books I am reading are set in the 60s with an old Cortina as his car. It's set in the Moors/Dales. amongst the farming comunity, and markets. The monern version is so upto date with PORCHE car and open planed Police Stations. I love a book for that reason Your imagination can take over. !!!

That bit of bread and cheese and a couple of cans had me asleep in no time last night, and I sleept till 7.00 am

Conrad phoned at 9.30 to say they had landed at Gatwick, and would stop off for some lunch about 12.00. Don't kmow if they will want a full english, or just a sandwhich. Didn't think to ask !!!

Looked out on my lawns this morning, the back one still has the lines, and looks a treat. Down the left hand side where it's shaded, the birds have had a right old go at the bit of moss. What do they want that for this time of year ???? Must get some Grass seed, and resow where it's bare.

Well it is a right old miserable afternoon now :-|.Dark and raining.
I have been looking at more of the autographs in Lotties book.
Some are so difficult to read .But I found great one.It is someone called Vesta Tilley and she was a male impersonator in the Music Halls. She was Britains most popular Male Impersonator and one of the country's most successful Music Hall Performers.
Well I never. :-D.There is quite a lot about her on the internet.
I will keep looking up all the names and see how many more well known artists there are in the book.
I'm finding it quite interesting ,but I worry about the fact Keep going through the book as it is quite fragile. It is over a hundred years old now.

My tongue feels like it is stuck to the roof of my mouth so i reckon it is time for a cuppa.

Same here Jane, dull, grey wet weather and cold too. What a great thing to have your autograph book, my son had one when he was younger but he only wanted famous footballers in it, he got quite a few, think it is in the loft with all his old school stuff,

I'm just about to get on the phone to get some car insurance quotes and compare them with the on line sites, good job this only comes round once a year it's such a drag.

Did you see WDYTYA, I like Celia Imrie, great comment from her aunt about Celia Imrie's mother being left on the shelf ...... dusty ........ made me laugh.

Conrad and Jan called and had coffee and toast. Didn't want anything else. Done me out of a full english. They had a great time, and were treated like Lords and Lady's. When finished the comples will be 6 x. They went diving, had tennis lessons, singing lessons, Conrad played football. They have bought video's of all the things they got up to. Will look at them next time we go up. They are off to Torquay tomorrow. Jans G'daughters birthday this weekend.

One of Ros's needle women has just returned from Las Vegas, and the following day went of to Portugal for two weeks, Allright for some. !!!

Our friends who have the apartment in Hastings. Got home from Teneriffe two weeks ago. Caroline went off to Berlin for a week, last week, now they are down to Hastings for a few days.

We have the lights and heating on, BUGS IN A RUG.

It will be either a Stirfry tonight or finish of the stew. The latter sounds better at the moment.

Won't be going far this evening.

Annx Report 11 Oct 2012 16:12

Afternoon All,

We had a bit of sun first thing and it was dry till lunchtime, but steady rain since then and it looks set for the rest of the day.

What's this about Liz leaving.........I missed that! I will be sorry to see her go.

Jane, it must be exciting looking up all these people Lottie got autographs for. Take care with that little book, it could be worth a few bob as they say!!

I seem to have got a bit of energy back today and am sorting out some different jewellery bits, the fasteners, wire, ribbon, thread etc. The next bit will be to find enough shelf to put it all on!

A neighbour has told us that the builder doesn't have enough room to drive through to the garden he wants to purchase to build 2 more bungalows on at the bottom of the close. They must have made a pigs ear of the width at the end of the close they kept ownership of. They even kept ownership of a 6 inch strip of land at the sides of the front gardens of the last bungalows so no-one else could make a way through to the garden land to buy it to build on!! It looks like they are going to see if they can buy some land from the neighbour to widen the access and I think he will sell if they offer him enough. I thought it was funny no planning application had gone in yet. I must try and confirm who owns the bit of road outside and whether it is the builder. I know the 4 bungalows are responsible for any repairs to it, but don't know what the position is if the builder damages the surface bringing in JCBs, heavy lorries and other machinery. :-S

I know just what you mean with the insurance Maureen.........I have to do it for OH too as he won't bother!! I can never find his occupations in the choices they give. :-S

Don't think even the Black & White Minstrels would be allowed today Jane, fancy being billed with that description :-D

I've given up on the quotes, was doing my head in they go on and on about this that and the other all I want is a bl***ing quote and when they finally get to the quote it's even more than the one before, so it's back on the compare sites.

Had an e.mail from Liz she has done as much as she wanted with the family tree and is not renewing her subscription for now, but would still like the joke e.mails and an update on us now and again, she said she might even be back in a couple of months.

Sounds like the family had quite an action packed holiday Frank, looks like the only exercise I will get on holiday will be running in out of the rain, speaking of rain it's absolutely hammering it down here.

Nice to see we are not the only ones anti day time TV. I did tell a bit of a porky, Carmel likes to see 'Pointless' if she isn't having an afternoon rest and we have been known to watch the odd Bargain Hunt, so I had to fess-up to those!

After I'd put my post on here yesterday, the phone rang and it was our local hospital, the George Eliot, Nuneaton. Carmel has been under the pain clinic there for years (think I mentioned it before) and the clinic was offering her a slot in the Day Procedures Unit on Monday at 4pm to have her back injections. I took the call as Carmel was having a nap and accepted on her behalf. When she woke later she was in agony with a 'water infection' (which she's prone to). She rang our surgery at 5.40pm and they said get down straight away and a doctor will see you. By 6.30pm we were on our way back home with antibiotics. He just gave her a 3 day course, otherwise the pain clinic won't do her 'job' on Monday. We certainly can't fault the NHS, not here anyway. Carmel's brother over in Ireland says it's a 12 months wait to see a consultant over there - maybe they just want the 'private' money!

I just got the car out of the local car-wash this afternoon (not those rip-off hand wash jobbies) and had leathered off the remainder of the spray when it started raining! I had to leather it again after getting petrol and putting in back in our garage.

Jane, I remember G H Elliot, he sang some good songs. We were only saying the other day how we used to enjoy 'The Good Old Days' with Leonard Sachs as compere. I would have loved to dressed up and be in the audience there. Nowadays its all those little mikes sticking in front of their faces.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Oct 2012 17:03

Hi All

Well we went out and the roads to the garden centre had huge puddles across them in places on the way there. As we went over Dipper Mill road with the river running at the side of it the water was quite low down the banks. That is the place that is usually flooded if anywhere is going to be. We actually saw one small patch of blue sky on the way there and a brief glimpse of sunshine for about 20 seconds!! It was'nt raining when we arrived and we went straight in to have lunch as it can fill up quite quickly in there. Just in time too as a whole heard of people came in after us.

Bought a couple of nice big hand made glasses, a light up snowflake thing for my nativity scene to use as the star. I have been looking for something like this for years since I made it when oh and I were first together He bought me the moulds. We have it in the church at Christmas. BLAST I have just looked at it and it is blimmin colour changing. I had'nt thought of that untill writing this..................... :-| :-| :-|

I also got more fat sticks for my log feeder outside the kitchen window.

When we came home it must have fell out of the sky in the time we had been in Cornwall. Loads of floods right across the roads in many places. A car in a ditch with flashing lights on and police tape round it which must have hit the water at quite a rate to end up where it did. By this time we had to go into Holsworthy to return a sweatshirt for oh which was too small and we did that and I got two pairs of Mar*golds in there and a new pair of fluffy socks for the winter two tone pink stripped!!! Love them.................. :-D

Then back to base and we were wondering how it would be at Dipper Mill where it usually floods. At the side of the road they have those signs with 1, 2 3, and 4 foot on them. I have seen it up to the two foot but never higher.

The river was just about to go over the banks so we were alright to get home. There was water flowing down both side of the road, comingout of fields and up drains both sides of Dipper. When we got home and I opened the front door and left oh in the garden he came in the back door and told me he waited so long for me to open the door he had had a p in the orchard in the corner. When I looked up it was flooded....... and we have this huge pool of water in the corner which I hav'r seen for about 16 years. I don't think we have had it flooded like that since I have been with oh. I took a couple of pics.

Got my fasting bloods tomorrow........................ :-( :-( :-(

I thought that was what Mel meant about the flooded orchard too!!! lol. You have had really heavy rain there Mel. It's stopped here thank goodness. I've found some Lavender Body Lotion I'm going to slap on before bed tonight!! It is some that MIL gave me as she reckons Lavender doesn't agree with her. I bet OH says something like 'what's that funny smell!!! :-S

The local parish council are running a photo competition to be used as a Christmas Card, so I think I will dig out some of my snowy and frosty pics to enter. :-D The prize is only £30 of vouchers, but better than nothing and they give you an A4 framed print of your photo if it wins.

Off to bed now I think.........class in the morning and I think someone is coming to watch the teacher give the class, so I'd better behave!! ;-)

I am sure you will Mandy. It must be fun for the little ones to learn that way about what children did in the war.

Jane what on earth is Fitz doing staying in a cottage with not heating or hot water. Give him a ring and tell him to get in touch with the number provided or look for it at least!!!!!! Silly boy.......

Ann is'nt lavender supposed to be antiseptic, perhaps thats why MIL dos'nt like it.

I did'nt see where Liz said she was leaving?

I do hope Fiona gets better now they have a name for what she has. Poor girl I do feel for her as it is not very nice having headaches all the time. Good luck with the new treatment Fiona. We are all thinking of you. <3 <3 <3
