Afternoon all,

Cool here with some sun.

Got through the night just, but she wanted new boyfriend to stay over. I raised my voice ever so slightly (LOL). You must have heard it over there. Bl**dy hell. He was gone quick smart, what a cheek still here until 1.30 in the morning after many hints being dropped.

Woke to this same shocking pain, could be stress too, but might be time to get tested for Lupus. Not a happy camper at the moment.

Are you having any respite from the heavy rain? Maybe a late summer for everyone.

Maureen thank you for the photos. The curtains looked a treat with the blue.

Pat glad you got back safely too despite that awful weather.

Off to have a cuppa. Enjoy the afternoon. 10.44 pm AEST

Afternoon all,

Ann, I had the same type of office as you. No matter how hot it got, you were only allowed to take your jacket off in the Manager came into the main office and said" Gentlemen you may remove your jackets" always had to ask for pen, and show the empty one. We dealt in oils (LINSSED) etc.and feeding cakes (CATTLE) Talloiw, fish oils it just went on and on. All invoices were typed and all calculations were done long hand. Eventuely we had an ELECTRIC Calculator. Everything had to be put in as a decimal of a TON or LSD I think that is why I can do most calculations long hand. We also had to sign in every morning. At 9.30 am the Manager would draw a line across the page. Anyone signing in after that had to put the time and reason for being late. Worse than School. But happy days.

Mandy good luck for tomorrow. Hope all goes well. <3 <3

Jane Fitz, will be glad to get away from him mum for an hour or so, you are very good to him.

Ros is in the garden weeding the boarders again, getting there slowly. Sun is out and a bit blowy, we had a lot of rain last night.
I have been round the pots this morning and picked up 15 slugs and 26 snails. They are now down the MAIN DRAIN outside.

Roast beef and all the trimmings later. Then I WILL (not Ros) will be ready for the march tonight. I might go down the pub and enjoy it with a pint or three.!!!!

Maureen Report 24 Jun 2012 15:04

That's a good idea Frank, must be quite an atmosphere watching the match at the pub, I get a bit loud watching England, poor old Alfie jumped off my lap a few times when I was watching their last game. He's still doing really well Mel, no outward sign of his liver problems and he does love a cuddle every evening he curls up on my lap until it's time for bed.

You mentioning all the hierarchy where you used to work Ann reminded me of much the same where I worked. It was mostly open plan and only the Directors were in offices and depending how senior you were was the quality of the carpet and if you were really high up there you had curtain at the window ......lol and of course they didn't have coffee from the vending machine, they had made coffee in china cups, we did too being secretaries as we had to make the coffee and wash up the china. It was much more relaxed about phone calls and stationery though.

Not long now Mandy, good idea to get an early night tonight I don't know about you but I'd be exhausted these days looking after three little ones. I get tired with just one and that's with their mum with them too :-0.

Welcome home Pat, glad you missed the worst of the weather, and you've got Spain to look forward to, should be hot and sunny there.

Hope you have taken it easy today Kim, can't imagine how it must be to feel unwell all the time.

Where are you our Shirl. haven't seen you on here for a while.

Jane Report 24 Jun 2012 18:02

Thanks Maureen.I have no idea when I will get to see the new arrival :-S It could be quite a while ...with the situation :-|.I am assuming Mum will start Chemo now as soon as possible.Which is why they needed Baby out now.
I just hope she is going to be well enough to keep baby with her.
I doesn't sound very good prognosis though with secondaries in her liver .

We had a lovely Roast Dinner and Fitz chilled a bit with a couple of glasses. He did complain that I had over cooked the Beef!!!!!!!.We like it well done ,he likes it pink.I told he should be blood* grateful lolol....He agreed
:-D
Then just after the meal the doorbell rang and it was Luke the Grandson who was living with my neighbour(the ones with Meg the dog).He has been chucked out (behaving badly) and wanted to know if I would let him in so he could get his money.I wasn't sure and said his Nan and Pops didn't want him back in the house. But knowing he is now homeless agreed to take him to get his money.I felt a bit like the Gestapo because I said yes I would let him in the house but would be watching him lol Don't whether I have done right or not .I did ask him if it was his money and not his Grandparens.Felt terrible asking him that but needed to .I will have to tell his G Parents tonight when they get home .I just hope that it was his money!!!!.God the responsibility!!!!!!
Meg the dog has been an absolute dream to have here.I will take her home about 7.30 .

Afternoon All,

Congratulations Jane, nice to know someone else is a Great Aunty! :-D Sounds as if the baby was not a bad weight for being early, my sister was only 5lb full term. Hopefully they can do some thorough checks on mum now and see what can be done for her. Cheeky Fitz......don't diss the cook!!! lol I'm with you......don't do pink with meat!!!

Maureen, we had to bring our own cups/mugs to work, but couldn't have a drink just when we fancied.......set times and a monitor would go and get the drinks.

Yes Frank, it was like that at work about jackets for the men too!! They weren't allowed to interview the public without a tie on either, no matter how hot it was. They really struggled on hot days. Talking was a bit of a no no too, especially when the office manager was prowling around.....no christian names used with him either. Some of the old school, higher grades would walk past you as if you weren't there too. You certainly knew your place in those days, but then some of the lower grades were just as bad.....they wouldn't speak to the cleaners!!!! lol. Me, I would speak to anyone so my desk was always cleaned very well.;-) Happy days though as you say and certainly never a dull moment working with GP (general public) as we used to say.

Mandy that is an early start!! I bet the little ones will be excited too so I expect you will have your hands full. Hopefully your DIL will be delivered early and won't have to wait too long.

We managed to get 10 bags of bark and put it down at MIL's after lunch. Just a bit more at the top to do next time we go. We didn't tell them we were going to do it today and took our own rake and brush, so we took them by surprise and there was less fuss and faff and we got it done quicker. They were going to stand over us while we were doing it and be in the way, but we both kept telling them to go and sit inside and leave us to it and after several attempts at talking to us while we were engrossed they did go back inside.......MIL to go and watch us from an upstairs window!!!!!!

Ann nearly as bad as being back at work. were they pleased with the result though??

Just had four bunnies running and jumping about up by my border and the arch into the garden. I have been weeding agan this afternoon and had'nt turned the leccy fence back on so had to walk up and do it.

there is a nice moon tonight.

Going back to what Frank said about carbon paper, I never knew it was made out of onion skins!! I still have quite a large pack in the desk. Must be from when mum used to type out all dad's bills when he was a builder and decorater(sp)
